Updated 2026 Mahindra XUV700 will receive a host of enhancements inside and out but the familiar 2.0L petrol and 2.2L diesel engines will continue

Having been on sale for a fair stretch now, the Mahindra XUV700 appears to be gearing up for a major refresh to lure more customers in with plenty of updates. Spy shots of heavily camouflaged test prototypes suggest that the SUV is nearing the end of its development cycle with a market debut likely in the early part of 2026.

The update is expected to bring noticeable changes both inside the cabin and across the exterior design. With the updated three-door Thar went on sale recently and the facelifted Bolero Neo launching soon, we can expect the new XUV700 to help strengthen the brand’s SUV portfolio further. Mahindra also has a series of new EVs under in the works.

Even under heavy camouflage, changes to the front are evident as a reprofiled bumper and updated headlamp detailing can be seen in the spy pictures. Interestingly, Mahindra seems to be retaining the flush-fitting door handles that became one of the XUV700’s signature design cues. Apart from the reworked nose, the overall silhouette appears largely unchanged.

The side panels gave little away in terms of any major design alterations. Mahindra is expected to introduce a new set of alloy wheel designs with the facelift – giving the SUV a more expressive stance. The overall dimensions, mechanical bits and glasshouse layout are likely to stay identical to the current model but new paint schemes are expected to be available.

At the rear, Mahindra seems to have retained the familiar tail lamp silhouette though the internal lighting signature looks slightly reworked. The bumper design also appears to have been revised. Step inside, and the facelifted XUV700 is expected to feature an upgraded cabin taking inspiration from Mahindra’s XEV 9e and BE 6.

It has to be remembered that the XUV 700 based XEV 7e three-row electric SUV is also in the pipeline. Back to the ICE facelift, it will more likely pack an upmarket equipment roster than before. Among the key highlights could be a triple-screen setup, front ventilated seats, a more capable Level 2 ADAS suite, etc.

Customers will also get a 360-degree camera system, ambient lighting, and a full-LED lighting package. Convenience features such as automatic climate control, wireless charging, USB Type-C ports, and extensive connected-car functions will continue – complemented by multiple airbags and adjustable headrests.

New-Gen Venue To Launch Soon In India – To Give Tougher Competition To Rivals

GaadiWaadi -

New Hyundai venue

The new-gen Venue will be modern, premium and upmarket than the present model to give tougher competition to the rivals in the Indian market

The new-gen Hyundai Venue will finally go on sale from Nov 4, 2025 in the domestic market in India. It has been spotted testing on several instances with camouflage on the Indian roads. The spy images reveal that the new-gen model would come with a complete cosmetic overhaul in terms of exterior design while the cabin will also get a plethora of never-seen-before segment-first features. Mechanically, it is likely to continue with the current crop of petrol and diesel engines with the ongoing gearbox choices.

The spy-shots indicate that the new-gen Venue will retain the boxy silhouette and upright stance. However, the front fascia will be new with heavily redesigned grille, split headlamp setup and vertical LED DRLs. The side profile will largely be the same except for the newly-designed alloy wheels. The thicker body cladding will be present around the wheel arches.

The rear profile will also be different as compared to the older model with the inclusion of a new connected LED taillamp cluster. The rear windshield has also been redeveloped along with the bumper, which is now sharper and aggressive than before. Most of the styling cues are inspired from the bigger Hyundai SUVs such as the Creta and Palisade.

The cabin of the 2025 Hyundai Venue has not been caught on camera yet. However, it is believed to come loaded with an array of features such as Level 2 ADAS, Ventilated seats and 360-degree camera among others. The dashboard and centre console is also expected to come with an updated design. It is also likely to boast of the bigger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

Under the bonnet, the new-gen Venue will carry the same petrol and diesel engines. The 83 bhp naturally-aspirated 1.2L and 118 bhp 1.0L turbocharged petrol engines will continue at the helm along with the 98 bhp 1.5L diesel motor. While the 1.2L engine will only be available with a 5-speed manual gearbox, the 1.0L petrol mill will be offered with 6-speed manual and 7-speed DCT units. The diesel engine will be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.

The new-gen Hyundai Venue is likely to be a bit pricier than the ongoing model, which comes in a range of Rs 7.26-12.32 lakh (ex-showroom). The ongoing model had become cheaper by up to Rs 1.33 lakh due to the recent GST cuts. The Union govt had reduced the tax on petrol and diesel SUVs to an uniform 18 percent from 29 percent and 31 percent, respectively.

The new-gen Hyundai Venue will rival Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV 3XO and Skoda Kylaq in the Indian market. The bookings of the new-gen model are likely to start post Diwali festival, which falls on Oct 22, 2025.

In addition to the highly anticipated next-gen Duster, Renault is also preparing to debut the Kwid electric hatchback in the Indian market

Along with two new SUVs, the company is also working on an electric hatchback, which was recently spied testing. Let’s look at the details of upcoming Renault cars launching in India.

1. All-New Renault Duster

The new-gen Duster is due for a launch in the Indian market early next year, i.e. 2026. It is one of the most anticipated SUVs in the country and is currently undergoing road testing. Sporting a butch stance, the design will be in line with the global-spec model, however, we can expect some minor revisions.

Tesla Enters Luxury EV Sales Charts In India – Deliveries Begin

GaadiWaadi -

Tesla Model Y

After a decade of speculation over its launch, Tesla has finally arrived in India, but consumer response has been tepid, with sales confined to double digits

Tesla launched the new Model Y as its first EV in India in mid-July and kicked off deliveries last month. The company delivered the first unit to Pratap Sarnaik, Maharashtra’s Transport Minister, on 5th September.

According to data we’ve accessed on the government’s Vahan dashboard, Tesla delivered only 64 units of the new Model Y in September. This is a fraction of the volume the company moves in the U.S., European countries, and other key markets every month.

Last month, Bloomberg reported that Tesla had received just over 600 bookings for the new Model Y in India. The consumer response has not met internal projections, the business publication said, adding the company used to sell more than 600 cars every four hours globally between January and June this year.

Tesla imports the new Model Y from Gigafactory Shanghai (China) and plans to dispatch 350-500 units to India by December. The company is accepting orders for the EV from customers across the country, but has opened showrooms only in Mumbai and Delhi so far. Initially, it is delivering the electric SUV in Mumbai, Delhi, Gurugram, and Pune.

The American EV maker has deployed four 11 kW AC Destination Chargers and four 250 kW DC Superchargers in Mumbai and three 11 kW Destination Chargers and four 250 kW DC Superchargers in Delhi. In the near future, the company will expand its charging network to Bengaluru, one of the leading cities in EV adoption in India. It does not plan to open a showroom there or in any other new city anytime soon, though.

The Standard Range RWD variant accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, achieves a top speed of 201 km/h, and travels up to 500 km, as per WLTP.

The Long Range RWD variant hits 0 to 100 km/h 0.3 seconds quicker, in 5.6 seconds; maxes out at the same, 201 km/h; and delivers a 122 km longer range – 622 km.

Hyundai Creta Records Highest Monthly Sales Ever In Sep 2025

GaadiWaadi -

New Hyundai Creta

Hyundai Creta registered a domestic tally of 18,861 units in September 2025 as it significantly contributed to the brand enduring a total of over 70,000 units

The month of September 2025 turned out to be a strong one for Hyundai as festive season combined with the GST 2.0 tax cuts lift sales across its model range. The Korean automaker registered a total of 70,347 units – climbing well above the tally of 64,201 vehicles sold in the same month last year indicating a healthy demand.

Out of the total September tally, domestic shipments contributed 51,547 units while exports made up an additional 18,800 vehicles. SUVs were responsible for much of the growth with Hyundai moving 37,313 units in this segment alone leading to the strongest SUV contribution and the highest penetration the company has ever recorded in its Indian operations.

The numbers put SUVs at a commanding 72.4 per cent share of Hyundai’s total September sales. Leading the way, the Creta continued to shine, recording its highest-ever monthly sales of 18,861 units and reaffirming its stronghold in the highly competitive midsize SUV segment. The Creta has been available for over a decade and it consistently posts impressive monthly sales.

The ICE version is currently priced between Rs. 10.73 lakh and Rs. 20.20 lakh (ex-showroom). Earlier this year, Hyundai introduced the electric version of the Creta which is sold with two battery packs. The IC-engined model uses a 1.5L NA petrol, a 1.5L diesel and a 1.5L turbo petrol engine with multiple transmission choices.

The Venue also made a notable contribution last month – achieving its strongest monthly performance in 20 months with 11,484 units sold. The next generation Venue is slated to launch in just over a month featuring a complete redesign both inside and out while retaining the current engine lineup: a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.0-litre turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel option.

Looking at the half-year performance, cumulative overseas shipments from April to September 2025 reached 99,540 units. The cumulative shipments translated into a 17 per cent growth compared with the same period in 2024.

EVs Sales In India Surpass 10 Lakh Units In H1 FY2026

GaadiWaadi -

tata-nexon-EV-Dark-Red.jpg

EV sales soar in the first half of FY2026 but fall in the final month of the period as ICE and hybrid vehicles get cheaper

India looks on track to record at least 20 lakh in EV sales this financial year, just like in the previous one. More than 10 lakh electric vehicles have already been sold in the first half, as per a report from The Times of India, based on data from the Vahan portal.

Across categories, 11 lakh EVs were sold in India between April 2025 and September 2025. Compared to the first half of FY2025 (8.95 lakh units), EV sales grew by 2.05 lakh units or 22.9%. Should the momentum continue through the second half, FY2026 may not just meet but exceed the FY2025 volume, which, as per a report from Autocar Professional, was 19.7 lakh units.

The recent GST reductions on ICE and hybrid vehicles do not work in favour of EVs and may impact their sales to an extent, though, especially in the case of cars. While EVs continue to be taxed at the lowest rate – 5%, ICE and hybrid models now attract as low as 18% GST. This means the minimum gap has reduced from 23% to just 13%, in the case of both cars and two-wheelers.

MG-Windsor-EV.jpg

September 2025 sales may have already shown early signs of a potential slowdown in certain EV segments. 1.82 lakh EVs were sold last month, and compared to 1.88 lakh units from August 2025, it was just a small decline of 3.3%. However, among cars, specifically, sales dropped from 18,290 units in August 2025 to 15,100 units last month, down 17.4%.

S&P Global Mobility Director Puneet Gupta said the GST revisions have reduced EV penetration in the car segment from close to 5% to approximately 4%. Crisil Ratings Director Poonam Upadyay said that consumers in this segment are highly price-sensitive.

In the case of two-wheelers, though, the GST rate seems to have had virtually no effect on the sale of electric models. 1.04 lakh electric two-wheelers were sold in September 2025, just 1,000 units less than in August 2025 (1,05 lakh units). As for electric three-wheelers, 61,000 units were sold in September 2025, 2,500 units less than in the preceding month (53,500 units).

In the first half of FY2025-26 (April to September period), Hero finished on top of the two-wheeler sales charts ahead of its arch rival Honda and others

Hero MotoCorp retained the number one position in the first half of FY26 according to Vahan data which doesn’t take Telangana into account while Honda and TVS Motor Company continued to put up aggressive performances. The volumes are dominated by commuter motorcycles, entry-level sporty offerings and scooters.

The homegrown manufacturer finished April to September 2025 period as the clear leader recording a total of 24.14 lakh units with the Splendor emerging as its major volume contributor. The sustained demand for its entry-level models has ensured Hero remains the benchmark in volume sales ahead of its arch rival, Honda.

The Japanese auto major, with 21.84 lakh units, secured the second spot. While the brand’s scooters continue to drive the bulk of its sales, Honda has been steadily building presence in the motorcycle category too courtesy of the Shine 100 and its 125 cc models. The Activa remains the country’s top-selling scooter – helping Honda stay close on Hero’s heels in overall numbers.
