In May 2026, Toyota recorded total sales of 30,574 units as against 29,280 units with a YoY growth of 4 per cent

Toyota Kirloskar Motor continued its growth trajectory in May 2026 recording domestic sales of 30,574 units compared to 29,280 units during the same month last year. The company posted a 4 per cent year-on-year increase and a marginal 1 per cent improvement over April 2026. Consistent volumes for the Innova range, Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Fortuner remained the key factor while premium offerings such as the Vellfire and Land Cruiser 300 registered impressive gains.

The Innova Hycross and Innova Crysta combination once again emerged as Toyota’s best-selling product family. Combined sales stood at 10,325 units in May 2026 – up 16 per cent from 8,882 units a year ago. Volumes also improved 7 per cent compared to April. The Innova range alone contributed nearly one-third of Toyota’s overall monthly dispatches.

The Urban Cruiser Hyryder remained Toyota’s second largest volume generator with 8,664 units. The midsize SUV’s sales increased 14 per cent year-on-year but volumes slipped 5 per cent compared to April 2026. Appreciable demand for petrol and hybrid variants continues to support the five-seater’s performance.

The Hilux also recorded healthy growth – climbing 29 per cent year-on-year to 414 units and improving 36 per cent over April.

Not every model enjoyed a positive month. The more affordable Glanza’s sales declined by 33 per cent to 3,198 units while the Taisor dropped 18 per cent to 2,496 units. Both products also witnessed month-on-month declines. The Rumion, on the other hand, remained one of the brighter spots among Toyota’s rebadged offerings posting 11 per cent growth with 2,119 units but its sales were down 18 per cent compared to April.

Toyota’s luxury portfolio recorded some of the highest growth figures during the month. 2026 Tata Tiago EV Facelift Detailed Drive Review & 100-0% Range Test

GaadiWaadi -

2026 tata tiago ev (3)

Is the 2026 Tata Tiago EV still the best value electric hatchback in the country? Do check out our detailed range test in the link below

Tata Motors has given the Tiago EV its biggest update since launch and the changes go well beyond cosmetic tweaks. The 2026 Tiago EV Facelift arrives at a time when the segment sees increased acceptance from consumers. We recently spent an extended period with the top-spec variant and conducted a comprehensive 100-0 per cent range evaluation to understand whether the updated Tiago EV still deserves a place at the top of the entry-level electric car segment.

Under the skin, the top-end variant continues with Tata’s 24 kWh battery pack offering a certified range of 285 km. Power is delivered through a front-mounted electric motor producing close to 75 hp and 114 Nm of torque. While these numbers may not appear particularly impressive on paper, the instant torque delivery transforms the way the car feels in city conditions.

Acceleration from standstill is brisk and overtaking slower traffic requires minimal effort. The compact dimensions combined with light steering make navigating crowded urban environments remarkably easy. The facelift introduces a sharper exterior appearance with revised LED lighting elements, a redesigned front fascia, new alloy wheel designs and subtle updates to the rear.

Despite its age, the Tiago’s proportions continue to work well and the facelift helps disguise the platform’s maturity. Fit and finish levels have also improved, particularly on the inside. It comprises a revised dashboard, a 26.03 cm HD touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a new digital instrument cluster, iRA.ev connectivity with in-car connected tech, dual smartphone deck with wireless charging and more.

Other key features are automatic temperature control, rear AC vents, seats with extended under thigh support, 65W front Type-C USB, cruise control, a four speaker surround system, six airbags as standard, a 360 degree SVS HD camera with multiple 2D and 3D views, a Blind View Monitor, 360 degree impact protection body structure, ESP with traction control, ABS with EBD, Corner Stability Control, Hill Hold Control and more.

In the video linked above, we have explained about the new affordable e-hatchback in detail and it is sold in four variants namely Smart 19, Pure+ 19, Pure+ 24 and Creative+ 24. It also boasts a lifetime high voltage battery warranty on the 24 kWh pack (15 years for first time owner).

Mahindra & Mahindra closed last month with domestic PV sales of 58,021 units – registering an 11 per cent increase over the 52,431 units recorded in May 2025. Its volume growth was supported by continued demand for the Scorpio, Thar and XUV 7XO while the company’s expanding electric vehicle portfolio added more volumes through the XEV 9S. Unlike several manufacturers that rely heavily on a select few products, Mahindra continued to spread its volumes across multiple SUV segments ranging from off-roaders to premium electric vehicles.

The Mahindra Scorpio remained the company’s biggest volume contributor during the month. Sales stood at 15,774 units – up 10 per cent from 14,401 units in May 2025. Its month-on-month volumes also improved by 7 per cent over April 2026. Even years after launch, the Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic combination continues to attract consumers.

The Thar recorded 10,787 units in May 2026 – improving by 4 per cent year-on-year. The Scorpio and Thar generated more than 26,500 units – accounting for nearly half of Mahindra’s monthly passenger vehicle sales. Another appreciable performer was the XUV 7XO. The three-row SUV delivered 9,338 units and posted a healthy 45 per cent increase over the 6,435 units recorded a year ago.

The desire for feature-rich variants, ADAS-equipped trims and premium positioning continues to support the XUV 7XO’s consistently in the highly competitive SUV category. The Bolero remained a steady contributor with 8,933 units. While year-on-year growth was virtually flat, the utility vehicle continues to maintain a loyal customer base.

The recently launched Mahindra XEV 9S recorded 3,502 units and improved 8 per cent over April. The XEV 9e added another 1,939 units but volumes declined 31 per cent year-on-year. Meanwhile, the BE 6 contributed 902 units. Combined sales of the XEV 9S, XEV 9e and BE 6 crossed 6,300 units which put the brand in second position in the electric PV sales.
