2026 Maruti Suzuki Baleno Facelift Spotted Testing – Changes Explained

GaadiWaadi -

2026 Maruti Suzuki Baleno Spied

2026 Maruti Suzuki Baleno is expected to receive exterior and interior changes while a new 1.2L Z-series petrol engine could be included

A mid-cycle update for the Maruti Suzuki Baleno has been caught testing in India revealing some of the changes it will endure upon likely arrival in H2 2026. Being the best-selling premium hatchback and one of top-selling passenger cars in the domestic market, the facelift holds plenty of significance for the brand as it has been around in its current guise since early 2022.

The spy images indicate that the 2026 Maruti Suzuki Baleno has gained a subtly reworked tail section but the bulk of the changes appear to be concentrated at the front. Besides a set of newly designed alloy wheels, the five-seater has received redesigned headlight section, updated grille, revised front bumper with wider air intake, etc. You could also see turn signals mounted on ORVMs and clamshell shaped bonnet.

The front end looks meaner courtesy of a parted grille with more prominent inserts and it may also get brand new LED Daytime Running Lights. The cabin could come with a larger touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, updated surface trims and materials, new in-car connectivity based functions, an all-digital instrument console and more.

The equipment could be further spiced up with the inclusion of a 360-degree camera system, wireless smartphone charger, leatherette seats, etc. Currently, the Baleno uses a 1.2L K-series DualJet petrol engine producing 89 hp maximum power and 113 Nm of peak torque. The Indo-Japanese manufacturer could replace it with the new Z-series three-pot unit found in the latest Swift and Dzire.

Higher trims could be powered by a 1.0L BoosterJet petrol mill found in the Fronx and it will help expand the Baleno’s portfolio. Another possibility is the addition of CNG tank underneath the floor as seen in the Victoris. The same setup will also be employed in the Brezza facelift which is also undergoing testing. A new six-speed MT was also spotted with the upcoming Brezza and whether it will make it to the Baleno facelift or not is yet unknown.

Maruti Suzuki FY26 Sales Analysis – Dzire, Ertiga, Swift, WagonR, Brezza, Victoris

GaadiWaadi -

Maruti Victoris (7)

In FY26 sales, Maruti Suzuki led the industry with 18,23,130 units as it endured 4 per cent year-on-year growth in India

Maruti Suzuki continued to dominate the PV market in FY2025-26 by posting total sales of 18,23,130 units with a steady 4 per cent year-on-year growth over the previous financial year. While the overall increase appears not too dramatic, a deeper look at the model-wise performance reveals a combination of stellar gains from key volume players and noticeable declines in a few traditionally popular nameplates.

At the top once again was the Dzire which rose to fame as the brand’s top-selling model with an impressive 2,29,130 units. The compact sedan registered a significant 39 per cent YoY growth thanks to its strong value proposition, fuel efficiency and continued demand for the latest iteration which arrived in India just over a year ago.

Behind it in the second position was the Ertiga MPV which maintained its consistent run with 1,98,876 units and endured a 4 per cent increase over last year. Its practicality and widespread acceptance as a family vehicle work in its favour consistently. The Swift hatchback also delivered a good performance – clocking 1,85,350 units with a 3 per cent growth.

Updated Tata Tiago ICE & Tiago EV Arriving Soon In India – Key Details

GaadiWaadi -

2026 Tata Tiago EV

The revised version of the entry-level Tata Tiago ICE and Tiago EV will get notable updates inside and out

Introduced in November 2015 and launched in April 2016, the Tata Tiago is well over a decade old now. Despite the two facelifts in January 2020 and January 2025, the city car has started to show its age. The same goes for its electric variant, which was first showcased in February 2018, launched in September 2022, and given a facelift in January 2025.

Tata Motors has no plans to fully redesign the Tiago series for a second generation anytime soon. The company is instead working on another facelift, spy shots have revealed. Road-testing of the updated version is in full swing, ahead of an expected launch in May.

The new Tiago and new Tiago.ev will likely feature redesigned headlamps, a new radiator grille and lower air intake grille, restyled bumpers, and new 15-inch (ICE)/14-inch (EV) alloy wheels. One or more paint options may also be part of the exterior changes on the facelifted models.

The visual changes may not be limited to the exterior. Tata Motors could be planning minor revisions for the dashboard, an LCD instrument cluster, and new trim and upholstery. The 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system could get some software updates for a smoother and snappier experience, as well as some new functions and apps.

Currently, the Tata Tiago and Tata Tiago.ev are not available with rear AC vents. Tata Motors may introduce this feature in both cars with the upcoming refresh, which would be a welcome upgrade considering the ongoing summer season. The company may also introduce a USB charging port in the rear.

2026 Tata Tiago EV (1)

The new Tiago is unlikely to see any changes with respect to engines or transmissions. The new Tiago.ev may get a 30 kWh LFP battery pack instead of the current model’s 25 kWh unit, but the 19.2 kWh LFP unit could be carried over. The 30 kWh unit could deliver a range of around 325 kilometres, as compared to 293 kilometres from the 25 kWh unit.

With the various cosmetic and technical upgrades, the new Tiago series will likely be slightly more expensive. For reference, the current Tiago’s prices range from Rs. 4.60 lakh (ex-showroom) to Rs. 8.20 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Tiago.ev costs Rs. 7.99-11.14 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on the trim.
