Volvo EX90 & ES90 Confirmed To Launch On Oct 12 – 700+ Km Range

Volvo EX90 & ES90 will expand the brand’s flagship electric range in India with long range powertrains, 800V charging and high safety standards

Volvo India will introduce the EX90 and ES90 in India on October 12, 2026 as the two models will arrive as the largest electric Volvos in the local range while sharing the SPA2 architecture and 800V electrical tech. The EX90 will become the Swedish brand’s flagship electric SUV and the fully electric counterpart to the XC90.

Global versions offer single motor RWD and dual motor AWD configurations alongside 92 kWh and 111 kWh battery options. The twin motor version develops 517 hp and 910 Nm enabling a 0 to 100 kmph time of 4.9 seconds. Based on specification and market, Volvo quotes up to 745 km of claimed range while an 800V electrical system and up to 250 kW DC charging are also supported.

The SUV measures close to five metres in length and offers six- or seven-seat layouts in international markets with a 2,985 mm wheelbase while the interior gets Volvo’s minimalist design philosophy. Equipment list comprises a portrait-oriented central touchscreen, digital driver display, head-up display, panoramic roof, Google-based infotainment and premium audio.

A roof-mounted LiDAR sensor is part of the EX90’s advanced driver-assistance system which is supported by cameras, radars and ultrasonic sensors. The ES90 takes Volvo into a different corner of the luxury EV market. Its fastback body type combines the proportions of a large sedan with a 3,102 mm wheelbase and a five-seat cabin.

International versions offer single and dual motor configurations while the Twin Motor Performance variant develops 680 hp and 870 Nm – cutting the 0 to 100 kmph sprint to just 4.0 seconds. The 106 kWh battery supports up to around 700 km of WLTP range while 350 kW DC charging can take the battery from 10 to 80 per cent in around 22 minutes.

The ES90 also gets a tech loaded cabin centred around a 14.5-inch portrait touchscreen, digital instrumentation and 5G connectivity. A 25-speaker Bowers & Wilkins system, Dolby Atmos, an electrochromic panoramic roof and advanced air purification feature among the available equipment. Volvo’s sensor suite consists of LiDAR, five radars, seven cameras and 12 ultrasonic sensors.

It supports functions such as adaptive cruise control, lane-centering assistance, blind-spot monitoring, collision avoidance and Pilot Assist. Volvo has not announced final specifications yet for India but foreign specifications suggest the EX90 could offer up to 745 km of claimed range and the ES90 around 700 km under the WLTP cycle. As for pricing, the Volvo EX90 could cost around Rs. 1.55 crore and the ES90 around Rs. 1.25 crore (ex-showroom).
