Next-Generation Toyota Supra To Be Developed By Toyota Independently

An all-new Toyota Supra is on the way, with a launch planned for 2027. This time, Toyota will independently develop the model. Toyota marks a shift from the previous BMW collaboration used for the A90 Supra.

The fifth-generation A90 used a BMW-sourced 3.0-litre inline-six engine. The fifth-generation A90 Supra also shared its platform with the BMW Z4. Despite this, the Supra outsold the Z4 significantly in global markets.

According to Forbes, Toyota sold over 24,000 Supras in a five-year period. In comparison, BMW sold only 13,000 Z4s during that time. This success has motivated Toyota to build the next model completely in-house.

New Engine & Transmission

The new Supra is expected to feature a 2.0-litre turbo hybrid engine. The new Supra is expected to produce nearly 400 HP and 500 NM of torque. Toyota is also exploring the use of carbon-neutral fuels for cars.

Toyota will use a motor generator with a clutch in the hybrid system. The motor generator with a clutch will allow driving solely on electric power when needed. Toyota may offer either a 10-speed or an 8-speed automatic transmission as an option.

New Styling & Suspension

Toyota will also be in charge of the new Supra’s suspension and exterior design. Toyota’s approach will ensure that the car has a unique driving character. This dedication highlights the brand’s dedication to performance engineering.

Outlook

In 2019, Akio Toyoda declared, “Supra is back” at the Detroit Motor Show. The return marked the Japanese legend’s return after a 17-year absence. Toyota aims to carry forward that legacy with a new identity in the next Supra.

Upcoming 7 Brand New Tata Nameplates – What To Expect?

GaadiWaadi -

Tata-Avinya-X-2.jpg

Tata is planning to introduce as many as 7 new nameplates by 2030 in India including the Sierra and Avinya range of premium offerings

Tata Motors is planning a significant ramp-up of its product portfolio with a roadmap that stretches to 2030. The strategy involves the introduction of more than 15 nameplates cutting across internal combustion and electric vehicle categories. Out of these, 7 will be entirely new models and we are focussing heavily on these here.

Additionally, the company is expected to roll out 23 facelifts or product updates during the period – an indication that the brand’s expansion plans are set to continue at a brisk pace. Among the forthcoming additions to Tata Motors’ lineup are the production-spec Sierra and the road-ready iteration of the Avinya concept which has been previewed multiple times.

Both models will be positioned as flag bearers for the company’s next generation EV direction and revised design identity. Beyond these, multiple unannounced vehicles are currently under development as can be perceived from a dealer meet. These include two internal combustion models, temporarily referred to as ICE Product A and ICE Product B, and a pair of electric offerings currently known as EV Product X and EV Product Y.

Tata plans to reintroduce the Sierra nameplate before the current financial year draws to a close. The reborn model will be made available in both electric and petrol configurations with the battery-powered version expected to reach showrooms before the ICE counterpart. To back the upcoming range of products, the company has earmarked an investment of approximately Rs. 35,000 crore.

The ICE variant will be equipped with the new 1.5L TGDI four-cylinder petrol engine producing around 168 PS and 280 Nm while the familiar 2.0L four-pot diesel mill found in the Harrier and Safari kicking out 170 PS and 350 Nm could be utilised as well. Both manual and automatic transmission options will be made available.

Tata could carve out a separate space for the Avinya nameplate within its family allowing room for multiple body styles over time, starting from 2027. The architecture underpinning the Avinya series – the EMA platform – is set to be localised in India to keep manufacturing costs in check with Tata paying royalties to JLR for its use. In turn, this move could offer advantages to JLR as well especially for models it produces locally. The Tata Scarlet compact SUV will be another new name which has been rumoured as well.

Upcoming Maruti Suzuki Escudo To Be Packed With Premium Features

GaadiWaadi -

Maruti Escudo

Maruti Suzuki Escudo will be officially launched on September 3 and it could be sold with 1.5L mild hybrid and strong hybrid powertrain options

Maruti Suzuki has lined up two SUV entries for its Indian range with launch timelines spaced out over the next few months. First up is a midsize SUV, set to be introduced on September 3, 2025. The new ICE/hybrid five-seater will be positioned below the Grand Vitara in the brand’s domestic hierarchy.

The second model in development will mark the company’s foray into battery-electric passenger vehicle segment. The launch of the e Vitara might have been postponed slightly due to issues surrounding rare earth magnets and thus it is only expected to launch later in the financial year with two battery options and a claimed range of over 500 km.

Maruti Suzuki seems to be drawing a clear retail line between its two midsize offerings. Unlike the Grand Vitara, which is retailed through the Nexa chain, the new ICE SUV is expected to be sold via the more mass-market Arena dealerships. Early indications also suggest that the upcoming model might measure longer than the Grand Vitara.

Maruti-Suzuki-Escudo-Spied-1.jpg

The new midsize SUV will enter a segment already filled with well-established contenders such as the Hyundai Creta, Mahindra Scorpio N, Kia Seltos, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate, and the Skoda-VW siblings. While the Grand Vitara has already given Maruti Suzuki a presence in this category, the forthcoming model is being developed to further intensify the brand’s involvement in the space.

The Indo-Japanese brand appears to be following a familiar powertrain template for its upcoming midsize SUV. The model is expected to borrow both the 1.5-litre mild hybrid and strong hybrid petrol engines from the Grand Vitara. A pricing bracket between Rs. 11 lakh and Rs. 16 lakh (ex-showroom) is highly likely too.

A generous features list is also on the cards to attract a broader set of buyers. It will comprise a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a semi-digital instrument console, a flat-bottom steering wheel, automatic climate control, six airbags as standard, TPMS, wireless smartphone charging and more.

Mahindra-Vision-SXT-Teaser.jpg

Mahindra has now put out a new teaser for the Vision SXT concept, this time offering a detailed look at the rear section confirming its pickup truck body style

Mahindra & Mahindra will showcase a number of new concepts at the Freedom_NU event in Mumbai on the Independence Day next month. Over the last few weeks, the brand has been teasing these close-to-production concepts and the identity of some of them has already been deciphered. In the latest round of teasers, it is clear that one of them will be a pickup truck based on the Scorpio N.

The homegrown brand previewed the conceptual version of the Scorpio N pickup under the Global Pik Up concept name at the Futurescape event in South Africa. Mahindra has now put out a new teaser for the Vision SXT concept, this time offering a detailed look at the rear section – confirming that it will be a pickup truck taking hints from the aforementioned concept.

The visuals highlight vertically oriented tail lamps and a tailgate that splits into two parts. Two spare wheels mounted over the bed – mirroring what was shown on the Scorpio N based pickup truck concept. The earlier teaser which focused on the front profile had already showed glimpses of the design aligning with the Scorpio N.

Positioned as one among multiple concept models, the Vision SXT is expected to preview a future lifestyle pickup truck for India as well as global markets and it could go up against the likes of Toyota Hilux and Isuzu V-Cross but no official confirmation has been made yet.

It will be accompanied by the Vision S, Vision X and Vision T concepts at the show floor – each loosely aligned with an existing Mahindra nameplate. The Vision S is believed to look ahead to the next Scorpio series or the electric version of it while the Vision X is expected to morph into the XEV 7e which in turn based on the XUV.e8 concept and the XUV700.

Maruti Suzuki Escudo To Get Level-2 ADAS & Dolby Atmos

Maruti Grand Vitara 7 Seater Spied

Maruti’s Escudo SUV to debut with Level-2 ADAS and Dolby Atmos

Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to launch its upcoming mid-size SUV, currently known as the “Escudo,” on September 3. This model will mark a milestone for the company as the first Maruti vehicle in India to feature Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). It will also introduce Dolby Atmos technology, a first for the brand in the Indian market.

The Escudo will be positioned as Maruti’s second mid-size SUV after the Grand Vitara but will be retailed through the company’s Arena dealerships, unlike the Nexa-exclusive Grand Vitara. While the name “Escudo” is being used internally, it may be changed closer to the launch.

Competing in the highly competitive mid-size SUV segment, the Escudo will take on established models such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Curvv, Honda Elevate and MG Astor, many of which already offer Level-2 ADAS. Maruti’s move to incorporate this technology reflects its broader focus on safety enhancements, including the standardisation of six airbags and electronic stability control across several of its models.

Sources indicate that the Escudo will share its powertrains with the Grand Vitara and will also offer a four-wheel-drive (4WD) option. Other notable features expected on the SUV include a powered tailgate, which will further enhance convenience and appeal in the segment.

The launch of the Escudo comes at a time when the SUV market continues to dominate the Indian automotive landscape. In FY25, SUVs accounted for over 54% of all passenger vehicle sales, with the mid-size segment alone contributing more than 6 lakh units. The Hyundai Creta leads the segment, followed by Maruti’s own Grand Vitara and the Kia Seltos.

The Escudo will be Maruti’s most technologically advanced product offered via Arena dealerships, which currently sell models like the Brezza, Dzire, Swift and WagonR.

Meanwhile, Maruti’s plans to introduce its first battery electric vehicle, the e-Vitara, have faced delays due to a global shortage of rare earth magnets triggered by China’s export curbs. The e-Vitara, aimed at over 100 global markets including Japan and Europe, will be manufactured at Maruti’s Gujarat facility once production hurdles are resolved.

Maruti Suzuki XL6 Gets Six Airbags As Standard Across All Variants

2022 Maruti Suzuki XL6 Price Front

Maruti Suzuki XL6 now offers six airbags as standard across all variants

Maruti Suzuki has enhanced the safety features of the XL6 by offering six airbags as standard across all its trims. This update follows a similar move for the Ertiga, which was recently upgraded with the same safety provision.

Previously, six airbags were limited to the higher-spec variants of the XL6. With the feature now extended to all versions of the MPV, the model has seen a slight price revision. The increase is marginal, capped at approximately 0.8%.

The XL6 continues to serve as a premium alternative to the Ertiga, featuring a 6-seat layout with captain seats in the second row. It remains powered by the same 1.5-litre petrol engine equipped with mild-hybrid technology, producing 102 BHP and 137 Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission.

New Mahindra Bolero Rendering

Within the next 6-12 months, the popular Mahindra nameplates, Bolero, Thar and XUV700, will get massive updates in India

Mahindra’s product strategy for the coming year appears to be heavily loaded with a host of new utility vehicles lined up across segments. It is expected to include everything from revised versions of existing models to entirely new nameplates. Here we take a look at the three popular nameplates, Bolero, Thar and XUV700, that are getting big revisions within the next 12 months:

1. New 3-Door Mahindra Thar:

The three-door version of the Mahindra Thar has been repeatedly spotted in camouflaged form signalling that development continues at a steady pace. Early indications suggest that Mahindra could be drawing on the Thar Roxx for stylistic inspiration with tweaks expected to appear on the bumpers, headlamp and tail lamp designs and the alloy wheels. Changes inside the cabin are also inevitable.

2. New Mahindra XUV 700:

Mahindra’s XUV700 has been undergoing test runs in its updated guise with camouflaged prototypes sighted multiple times in recent months. The refreshed model is understood to be heading for a market introduction in early 2026. Changes on the outside are expected to centre around revised bumpers, reprofiled lighting and a new alloy wheel design.

However, key elements such as the flush-fitting door handles and the overall dimensions are set to be retained by being a mid-life refresh. The cabin is expected to receive a substantial rework though as a new dashboard layout could introduce a triple-screen arrangement, accompanied by new trim materials and upgraded upholstery to lift the cabin’s overall premium stance.

3. New Gen Mahindra Bolero:

A new ladder-frame chassis will be revealed by Mahindra this August and it could mark the foundation for what may eventually replace the current Bolero or Bolero Neo. Heavily camouflaged test vehicles – spotted more than once in recent weeks – have intensified speculation around the platform’s readiness.

While Mahindra has not officially linked the architecture to a particular nameplate, the sighting of near-production mules suggests a launch could follow sooner rather than later. Multiple concepts including electric versions of the Thar and Scorpio will be revealed next month on Independence Day as well.

The petrol-powered versions of the Tata Harrier and Safari are long due, and we expect them to debut in early 2026. Being diesel-only models, the Tata Motors’ flagship duo miss out on the considerable petrol SUV market share. In order to tap into this space, a new 1.5-litre tGDi four-cylinder petrol engine will power the Harrier and Safari. This engine was first showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo. It comes with a power output rated at 168 bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque. It will get the option of a 6-speed manual and an automatic gearbox.

4. Tata Punch Facelift

Currently, the best-selling Tata car in the Indian market, the Punch, is ready to receive its first major update. Expected to launch by the end of 2025, the mid-life facelift model of the Punch will bring significant changes to the package, including a new exterior design, revised interiors and more features.
