Maruti Suzuki is set to launch two brand-new SUVs in India, including an EV; The much-awaited Tata Sierra will go on sale by the end of 2025
With the SUV segment leading the Indian automotive space, car manufacturers are always on their toes to introduce new nameplates. In line with this, a slew of major companies, including Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, Renault and Nissan, are preparing to debut brand new SUVs in the country. Let’s look at the top 5 brand new SUVs launching in India in the next 2 years.
1. Maruti Suzuki Escudo
The home-grown carmaker is set to debut a brand new SUV on September 3, which will be positioned in the mid-size SUV segment. Expected to be named Escudo, it will be sold via the company’s Arena dealership chain. The Creta rival SUV has already been spied testing in the country, and it could be slightly longer than the existing Grand Vitara. Under the hood, we expect the familiar 1.5-litre mild-hybrid K15C petrol and 1.5-litre strong-hybrid engines to power the new Maruti SUV.

2. Tata Sierra
Tata Motors has already taken the wraps off the Sierra in its near-production guise at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo. Expected to go on sale by the end of 2025, the Sierra is one of the most anticipated SUVs in the country. The test prototype of the SUV has been spotted on multiple occasions, and the overall silhouette was quite familiar to the version showcased at the Auto Expo. While the technical details are under wraps, the Sierra will likely be powered by the new 1.5-litre tGDi petrol and 2.0-litre turbo diesel engines.
3. Maruti Suzuki e Vitara
Maruti Suzuki will launch its first electric SUV, the e Vitara, in the coming months. Based on a born-electric skateboard platform, the Heartect-e, the EV SUV has already been revealed at the 2025 Auto Expo. It will be offered in two battery pack options, i.e. 61.1 kWh and 48.9 kWh. The larger battery pack will deliver a claimed range of over 500 kilometres on a single charge. The front wheel-mounted electric motor will come with 171 bhp and 192 Nm of peak torque.
4. New-Gen Renault Duster
Scheduled for launch next year, i.e. 2026, the Duster is set to make a comeback in the Indian market in its latest 3rd-gen avatar. Based on the CMF-B platform, the SUV will likely be powered by the 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine, putting out 154 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. The 140 bhp 1.6-litre petrol strong hybrid option is also expected to debut at a later stage. The test mule of the mid-size SUV has already been spotted in the country, confirming its imminent launch.

5. Renault Boreal
After the launch of the Duster, Renault will debut a new 7-seater SUV in the Indian market. The Boreal recently made its global debut, and it is based on the Dacia Bigster. In India, the SUV will likely be offered in a 7-seater configuration. Underpinned by the CMF modular platform, the SUV measures 4,556 mm long with a wheelbase of 2,702 mm. The global-spec Renault Boreal is equipped with a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine, producing 163 hp and 270 Nm in its flex-fuel guise. The petrol-only version gets 138 hp/156 hp states of tune with 240 Nm of peak torque.
6. New Nissan SUV
Expected to be dubbed Kait, the Renault Duster will also spawn a Nissan counterpart in the Indian market. Based on the familiar CMF-B platform, the new Nissan SUV will be launched around the same timeline as the Duster. The mid-size SUV will sport a completely different design language, and we expect a new layout for interiors as well. The Nissan SUV will also share the powertrain with the Duster, including the 154 bhp turbo petrol and 140 bhp strong hybrid options.
