Hyundai is working on a host of new models for India and here we take a deep dive into the possible upcoming electric and hybrid SUVs
Hyundai’s product development cycle remains in full swing particularly in the SUV category where changes are taking shape across the board. While some models are expected to arrive as mid-life updates, others are being shaped from scratch on updated or entirely new platforms.
Here is a detailed look at the upcoming offerings with hybrid and electric powertrains:
1. Hyundai Ni1i Premium SUV:
Hyundai is in the process of developing a new three-row SUV that will sit between the Alcazar and Tucson in its domestic range. Positioned to address the growing demand for larger family-oriented vehicles, the upcoming model is being engineered with a strong hybrid system in mind as the existing 1.5L NA petrol mill could be reengineered.

2. New Gen Hyundai Creta:
Hyundai has begun early development on what will eventually replace the current-generation Creta with a full model change likely to go global by 2027. The next-gen version is understood to introduce a strong hybrid option for the first time under the Creta nameplate. Major overhauls are also expected in both design and inside the cabin.
3. Hyundai Inster EV:
Hyundai is believed to be working on a new compact e-SUV for the Indian market with a likely introduction slated for 2026. While details remain scarce, the project seems to borrow conceptual cues from the Inster EV offered abroad. Built to fit within the sub-four-metre category, the EV could be positioned to compete with segment players such as the Tata Punch EV.
