Kia Carens Clavis EV comes with a driving range of up to 490 km per charge; available in a total of four variants

Kia has begun accepting reservations for the Carens Clavis EV – its first electric model to be manufactured locally. The vehicle comes with a three-row layout and enters the market as the least expensive midsize electric MPV. Buyers will be able to choose between two battery packs with the company quoting a maximum range of 490 kilometres per full charge.

We got to drive the top-spec variant in Bengaluru recently and our first drive impressions as well as our signature 100 to 0 per cent range test can be viewed from the link below. The lineup gets four trims: HTK Plus, HTX, HTX ER and HTX Plus ER. In terms of market placement, the Clavis EV enters a segment still relatively untouched by mass-market brands.

Starting from Rs. 17.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the electric Carens Clavis boasts a familiar design language rooted in Kia’s “Opposites United” approach. Visually and structurally, it mirrors several cues from its internal combustion counterpart. Powertrain choices consist of two lithium-ion battery packs, the larger of which – rated at 51.4 kWh.

A second battery option rated at 42 kWh sits below the larger pack in the lineup. It offers a claimed 404 km of range on a full charge based on ARAI testing. Despite the capacity difference, both packs support 100 kW DC fast charging, which allows the battery to be replenished from 10 to 80 per cent in a stated 39-minute window.

Level 2 ADAS capability forms part of the safety suite on the Carens Clavis EV with 20 autonomous driver assistance features listed under this system. Alongside, Kia has bundled 18 additional safety-related technologies. A palette of six paint choices is offered – Glacier White Pearl, Gravity Gray, Aurora Black Pearl, Pewter Olive, Imperial Blue and a matte-finish Ivory Silver.

While the lower-spec variants pair the smaller battery with a 132 hp motor, higher trims get a 169 hp unit. In both cases, torque remains consistent at 255 Nm. Paddle shifters on the steering allow on-the-fly control over four selectable levels of regenerative braking. The feature list leans heavy on high-end tech with a connected car suite offering up to 90 remote and onboard functions.

Pagani has revealed a special edition Utopia called the Coyote, featuring a bold livery and faux “track scars.” This unique spec is for those who want their Pagani to stand out in every possible way. The hypercar has already sparked mixed reactions online thanks to its controversial design touches.

Styling

The Coyote features a “race-inspired livery” with a Bianco Benny base coat and bold red, turquoise, and blue stripes. The design drew comparisons to Martini. Torn-effect scars add to the drama by exposing raw carbon fibre for a battle-worn appearance.

These “track scars” are purely cosmetic but have sharply divided fans over whether the look is cool or tragic. Some consider it a bold expression of racing spirit, while others think it borders on unnecessary theatrics.

Interior

The interior is also finished in a contrasting blue upholstery with white stitching and red highlights. The combination of the colours hints at the Bianco Benny livery on the outside.

Engine

Regardless of opinion, the Coyote is a visual spectacle and talking point wherever it appears. Pagani has nicknamed the car ‘The Coyote,’ but it has no relation to the V8 found in the Mustang. Instead, it continues to use the AMG-sourced 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 that powers the standard Utopia.

This engine produces 864 HP and 1100 NM of torque, powering the rear wheels. The images show that the engine is mated to the 7-speed Xtrac manual transmission, offering a pure and thrilling feel and feedback.

Outlook

Pagani has revealed only one Pagani Utopia Coyote so far, likely as a one-off customer commission. The model’s cost is over USD 2 million, joining the hyper-exclusive list of ultra-custom Paganis. This version demonstrates just how far Pagani can go to create truly unique, high-performance art on wheels.

Hyundai and Kia will debut the next-gen models of Creta and Seltos in the year 2026-2027; new-gen Bolero to launch next year

With the automotive market moving at a fast pace, car manufacturers are always on their toes to launch new cars and update the existing models. Introducing a new generation of the existing nameplates is a part of the product strategy and helps to keep the model relevant in the market. Let’s look at the new-gen cars launching in the Indian market in the coming years.

1. New-Gen Mahindra Bolero

Mahindra is currently road testing the next-gen Bolero for the domestic market. Scheduled for a launch next year, i.e. 2026, the SUV will be based on the New Flexible Architecture (NFA) platform, which will be officially unveiled on August 15 this year. The new Bolero will retain the boxy design elements, albeit in a much more modern avatar with round headlights, rugged bumpers, tailgate-mounted spare wheel and updated rear profile. Under the hood, the Bolero could get an updated powertrain, however, nothing can be confirmed as of now.

2. New-Gen Tata Nexon

Tata Motors has commenced the development of the next-gen Nexon, which is expected to go on sale in 2027. Internally codenamed ‘Garud’, the new model will reportedly carry forward the existing X1 platform, however, it will be heavily reworked with structural updates. Expect the SUV to get a new design language along with a major overhaul for the interiors. The next-generation Nexon will likely continue with the existing 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine, available in both petrol and CNG fuel options. The 1.5-litre turbo diesel could be skipped due to the upcoming stricter BS7 emission norms.

3. New-Gen Kia Seltos

Scheduled for a global debut later this year, the second-generation Seltos will be launched in India sometime in 2026. The new-gen Seltos will feature comprehensive updates inside out. Internally codenamed SP3i, the Korean carmaker will introduce a strong-hybrid powertrain with the new Seltos, along with the familiar petrol and diesel engine options. The hybrid Seltos is expected to use the familiar 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with the strong hybrid setup.

4. New-Gen Hyundai Creta

One of the most popular SUVs in the country, the Creta, will get a generation update in the year 2027. Hyundai has reportedly commenced the development of the next-gen Creta. Internally codenamed SX3, the upcoming SUV will likely get a new strong hybrid powertrain, which will be shared with the new-gen Seltos, comprising a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with an electric motor. The existing naturally aspirated petrol, turbo petrol and turbo diesel engines will be retained, mated to the manual and automatic gearbox options.

5. New-Gen Hyundai Venue

The new Venue is scheduled to go on sale in the Indian market around the festive season this year. The second-generation compact SUV will benefit from an all-new design language, along with revised interiors and an enhanced feature kit. We expect Level 2 ADAS, 360-degree camera, panoramic sunroof, a larger infotainment system and a new fully digital cluster to be a part of the package. Under the hood, the new-gen Hyundai Venue will continue to be powered by the familiar 1.2-litre petrol, 1.0-litre tGDi petrol and 1.5-litre CRDi diesel engines.

Styling

Together, these systems ensure sharp performance and confident control under spirited driving conditions.

Market Competition

The Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 will be more expensive than the outgoing C-Class Coupe. The CLE 53 targets serious driving enthusiasts. It will directly rival the BMW M2 and Audi RS5 in India’s growing performance luxury segment.

1. Mahindra Bolero Neo facelift

The brand’s flagship SUV will be updated with fresh styling and new features to stay afloat in the competition. Internally codenamed as W616, the XUV7OO facelift will go on sale in the first half of 2026 in the Indian market. It will be designed on the similar lines as the company’s latest Born-Electric SUVs namely BE6 and XEV 9e. We could see the XUV7OO facelift come with a new front grille, redesigned alloy wheels, and connected LED headlamps. Under the bonnet, it will house the same 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L turbocharged diesel engines.

3. Mahindra Thar facelift

The Thar facelift will be launched in the first half of 2026 in India. Codenamed as W515, it will share multiple design elements with the 5-door Thar Roxx. The 2026 Thar facelift will get double-stacked front grille, restyled bumpers, C-shaped LED headlamps and newly-designed alloy wheels. The cabin will also be updated with striking features such as large touchscreen infotainment system, all-digital instrument cluster and sunroof. As far as mechanicals are concerned, it will be offered with the same petrol and diesel engines.

4. Mahindra Scorpio N facelift

Mahindra recently rolled out a new variant in the Scorpio N range with ADAS tech and 10 safety features. It is quite likely that the company will extend the ADAS suite to the other variants of the SUV as well, when it launches the facelifted model in the second half of 2026 in the Indian market. The mid-cycle facelift of the Scorpio N will borrow several striking features from the BE6 and XEV 9e. Though details are scarce at the moment, we believe the new SUV to remain mechanically unchanged.

5. New-Gen Mahindra Bolero

Mahindra will unveil the all-new Freedom NU architecture on Aug 15, 2025 which is said to be spawning the new-gen Bolero SUV. The new modular platform will be showcased alongside four concept models at the event in Mumbai. The new-gen Mahindra Bolero will come loaded with advanced features in the form of panoramic sunroof, ADAS suite and touchscreen infotainment system. The styling will be inspired from the Thar while cabin upholstery, seats and dashboard will be borrowed from the Scorpio N. The engine choices are likely to be retained from the ongoing model.

Over 30% Of Sales In Midsize SUV Segment Come From Hyundai Creta

By the end of June 2025, cumulative sales of Hyundai Creta had crossed 1.2 million units and it was the best-selling SUV in the first half of 2025 too

The Hyundai Creta has now spent a full decade on Indian roads. Since its debut in July 2015, the midsize SUV has retained a steady lead in a fiercely contested segment. By the end of June 2025, cumulative sales had crossed 1.2 million units. No other SUV in its class has managed to maintain this level of consistency year after year.

In fact, Creta has ended every full calendar year since launch as the highest-selling midsize SUV in the country. Even in the face of mounting competition, Creta has held on to its position. In the first half of 2025 alone, it was not only India’s best-selling SUV, but also the top-selling passenger vehicle overall in three of the six months.

More than 31 per cent of the midsize SUV market is currently occupied by the Creta. The SUV’s sales trajectory has more than doubled over time – from 92,926 units in 2016 to 1,86,919 units in 2024. The transformation in buyer profile has also been significant. The first-time ownership among Creta buyers rose from 12 per cent in 2020 to 29 per cent in 2024.

Variants with factory sunroofs have seen especially strong traction – accounting for around 70 per cent of sales in the first half of 2025. Now in its second generation, the Creta is sold with petrol, diesel, turbocharged petrol and EV powertrains – backed by both manual and automatic gearbox options. Built in India, the SUV is also shipped to more than 13 global markets with export numbers exceeding 2.87 lakh units.

The second generation model introduced in 2020 pushed the Creta further upmarket. Two special editions – the Knight and Adventure – were added later on. Over the years, Hyundai has regularly refreshed the SUV’s design, variants and feature list. The Creta’s long run indicates Hyundai’s ability to evolve a model while pushing the segment’s status quo.

Creta Electric

Tesla Supercharger Network To Come To India, Will Be A Key Part Of The Ownership Experience

Tesla has now officially entered India, pricing the Model Y at Rs. 59.89 lakh and Rs. 67.89 lakh, respectively. Indian roads will soon see the Model X as well. But Tesla’s real strength extends beyond just the vehicle to the charging infrastructure.

A key part of Tesla’s global success has been its extensive Supercharger network. These fast chargers alleviate range anxiety and facilitate seamless long-distance travel. At the launch, Tesla executive Isabel Fan emphasised charging as essential to the Tesla ownership experience.

Tesla V4 Superchargers

Tesla will introduce its advanced V4 Superchargers in India, using the same technology as in other global markets. These chargers can deliver up to 500kW of power to Tesla cars. The units use a 1,000V system and can theoretically supply 600kW per stall.

Supercharging Capabilities

Charging at 250kW, a V4 charger adds 267km of range to the Model Y in just 15 minutes. Key features include a 3-meter liquid-cooled cable and wide temperature operation. Each station maximizes fast-charging potential by supporting currents from 5 to 1000 amps.

Tesla Superchargers in India will use the CCS Type 2 plug, already common across many Indian EVs. Tesla’s network will initially launch in Mumbai and Delhi NCR. Both cities will receive four V4 Supercharger stations with four charging points each.

Supercharger Network

Mumbai will see Superchargers in Lower Parel, BKC, Navi Mumbai, and Thane. Delhi’s locations include Aerocity, Saket, Gurugram, and Noida. These stations will be the foundation for a larger charging ecosystem across India.

In addition to Superchargers, Tesla will install several “destination chargers” at malls and hotels in both cities. These chargers are for overnight or medium-duration use. They replicate home-charging convenience while out in the city.

Tesla will also build chargers along highways and popular travel routes outside both metros. This supports long-distance travel similar to Tesla’s other international markets. Route coverage will likely expand as sales grow.

According to Tesla, the Supercharger has seen an uptime of 99.95%, setting a high benchmark for India’s grid. Infrastructure challenges could make that reliability difficult locally. Still, Tesla aims to maintain similar standards through local partnerships.

Non-Tesla EVs can access the Superchargers, but they’ll pay more unless they subscribe. In other markets, annual subscriptions cost around Rs. 12,500. Tesla’s pricing in India will be competitive for its customers.

Tesla is actively seeking Indian partners to host charging sites in commercial or public areas. Details are available on the official Tesla India website. This partnership model is crucial for rapid Supercharger expansion.

Supporting Infrastructure

Beyond charging, Tesla will invest in after-sales service centres in Delhi and Mumbai. These hubs will handle maintenance, parts, and vehicle delivery. Tesla will also build logistics and delivery infrastructure to support growth.

Sales will follow Tesla’s direct-to-customer model, bypassing traditional dealerships entirely. Buyers will directly order through Tesla’s online platform. This streamlined model aligns with Tesla’s global sales strategy.
