body-on-frame models renowned for their off-road capability and ruggedness drive growth at Mahindra in the first full month of reduced GST sales

In October 2025, the first complete month of sales after the GST revisions, coinciding with the peak of the festive season, most carmakers reported strong growth. Mahindra saw one of the sharpest upticks among all brands last month.

Thanks to the recently introduced refreshes for the Thar and Bolero, Mahindra saw a 31% growth in auto sales in October 2025. The company sold 71,624 vehicles last month, as opposed to 54,504 units in the same month last year.

The Thar range, which consists of the classic 3-door model and the five-door Roxx, recorded a stunning 51% year-over-year growth in October 2025. From just 7,944 units in October 2024, sales went up to 12,029 units last month. Mahindra rolled out a facelift for the 3-door version on 3rd October, which is likely the main reason behind this improvement.

The BE 6 and XEV 9e, which went on sale in March this year, contributed 2,134 units and 2,708 units, respectively, to Mahindras October 2025 sales. The larger and more expensive model of the two Born Electric duo surprisingly continues to remain more popular in the market.

The XUV700 and the XUV400 were among the laggards, registering year-over-year declines of 3% and 85%, respectively. The three-row SUVs sales reduced from 10,435 units to 10,343 units, but the Hyundai Creta rival, also available as an EV, saw its deliveries go from 1,000 units all the way down to just 152 units.

Honda Preparing To Launch 10 New Cars In India – ICE, Hybrid & EVs

Honda 0 Series Alpha concept based electric SUV is set to arrive in India and Japan by 2027 while more new products are also waiting in the pipeline

Recently, we told you that Honda’s 0 Series Alpha, a midsize electric SUV, is officially heading to India and Japan by 2027. It will serve as the cornerstone of Honda’s next generation lineup in its global electrification strategy and indicate a renewed focus on key growth markets including India. At the Japan Mobility Show 2025, Honda Motor Co’s Director, President and Representative Executive Officer, Toshihiro Mibe, outlined the company’s long term direction.

He confirmed that India will be central to Honda’s next phase of expansion alongside Japan and North America. He candidly noted that Honda aims to “push more effort into the Indian market than ever before,” acknowledging India’s strategic importance amid rising competition from Chinese automakers worldwide.

The 0 Series Alpha – previewed at the show – comes with Honda’s minimalist yet futuristic design philosophy. It’s expected to offer a claimed driving range of more than 500 km between charges alongside providing advanced software integration and global-grade build quality. Importantly, the model will be manufactured in India, serving both domestic demand and export markets, turning India into a global production base for Honda’s electric portfolio.

Honda-0-α-Alpha-EV-India-1.jpg

As for styling, the Alpha may carry forward certain proportions reminiscent of the Elevate but underneath, it is an entirely new dedicated EV platform, not a converted ICE structure. It will be a clean-sheet modular architecture optimised for electric vehicles. Honda’s current Indian range – Amaze, City, and Elevate – has somewhat held steady but needs rejuvenation.

Recognising this, Honda has charted out an aggressive plan to introduce 10 all-new models by 2030 including seven SUVs. The upcoming range will likely include a compact SUV likely derived from the Amaze or City platform, several hybrids and international models adapted for Indian conditions. Instead of betting exclusively on battery EVs, the company is investing across multiple fronts including hybrids.

Honda-0-α-Alpha-EV-India-2.jpg

The brand has missed a few early opportunities in India’s fast-growing SUV and EV space, arriving later than rivals in some segments. But the 0 Series Alpha could mark a fresh start while the next-gen City, a three-row midsize ICE SUV and perhaps Elevate hybrid too could arrive in the coming years.

2026 Kia Seltos Diesel To Get 7-Speed AT

2026 Kia Seltos Spied Shot 7 Speed Auto 2

2026 Kia Seltos Diesel With 7-Speed AT Will Be Major Upgrade on the Horizon

The 2026 model of the Kia Seltos is expected to come with a significant upgrade in its diesel automatic transmission offering, according to insider sources. Kia is reportedly developing a 7-speed automatic transmission (AT) for the 1.5-litre diesel engine variant of the Seltos, marking a first-in-segment move that could enhance performance, refine the driving experience and improve efficiency.

What the Upgrade Means: Performance, Efficiency & Refinement

Currently, the Seltos diesel (1.5-litre) is offered with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic. That engine produces 116 PS and 250 Nm of torque. With the shift to a 7-speed AT, Kia aims to offer closer gear ratios, better mid-range response and lower engine speeds at cruising. The tighter spread of ratios in the key usable gears (3rd through 5th) can improve agility when overtaking or merging in traffic. Kia is reportedly tailoring this transmission for Indian conditions, including extreme weather and varied terrain, adding further relevance for the local market.

What to Expect & Market Implications

Kia’s decision to develop the 7-speed AT suggests the brand is confident about diesel’s relevance in India for the near term and is willing to invest in premium transmission technology to maintain competitive advantage. The improved gearbox could also help the diesel engine meet stricter upcoming emission norms by enabling lower RPM cruising and reduced engine load, thereby lowering both fuel consumption and emissions. As SUVs grow in popularity and buyers seek more automatic and refined driving experiences, this upgrade may appeal to those wanting diesel efficiency with near-premium automatic convenience.

Timing and Launch Considerations

According to speculations, this updated diesel automatic version of the 2026 Seltos is likely to debut alongside the next-generation model expected in early 2026 in India. While Kia has not officially confirmed the 7-speed AT yet, insider sources and spy-shots of test mules suggest that this development is under active testing and engineering.

maruti-suzuki-e-Vitara-electric-SUV-2.jpg

e Vitara already on sale in European markets and headed to Maruti Suzuki showrooms next month as a direct Hyundai Creta Electric rival

The recently launched Victoris might be Maruti Suzuki’s most feature-loaded model on sale now, but the e Vitara, the company’s first EV, will further raise the bar. Here are five exclusive features that will distinguish the e Vitara from every other Maruti Suzuki on sale today:

1. Flat floor

maruti-suzuki-e-Vitara-electric-SUV-2.jpg

Engineered from the ground up on an EV platform, the Maruti e Vitara will feature a flat floor that improves space and comfort. Most importantly, the middle passenger in the rear will get the same under-thigh support as the outboard occupants. Thus, the EV will comfortably accommodate five adults.

Maruti e Vitara SUV2

A 40:20:40-split design of the rear seat’s backrest will give customers the flexibility of partially expanding the cargo space. 5. Driver’s knee airbag

In addition to two frontal airbags, two front-side airbags, and two side curtain airbags, Maruti Suzuki will offer a driver’s knee airbag in the e Vitara. This will make the EV the company’s only model available with seven airbags.
