Indo-Chinese joint venture working on aesthetic and functional upgrades for two of its ICE SUVs, likely with plans to introduce them in 2026

Following a strong start last decade, the MG Hector has lost ground in India. Despite a facelift in 2023, the Chinese brand’s first model in India has not seen much traction. Now, JSW MG Motor appears to be working on a second facelift for the MG Hector to improve its sales.

Recent spy shots have shown the company testing its prototype on the highway near its factory in Halol, Gujarat. While locals would know these occurrences are a common sight around here, experts believe the latest one is not part of the regular testing.

The partial camouflage on the spied MG Hector could be hiding fresh cosmetic changes aimed at giving the model a new lease of life. It seems JSW MG Motor is planning to introduce a new radiator grille. Additionally, there could be a few revisions not present on this test mule, including restyled bumpers, tweaked headlight and tail light graphics, and new wheels.

The facelifted MG Hector may have limited interior changes, such as new upholstery, colour scheme, and trim materials. JSW MG Motor may use this opportunity to roll out minor software improvements for the instrument cluster and infotainment system. There’s no word on any mechanical changes, which would mean the same 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol and 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engines, paired with a 6-speed MT or a CVT (petrol-only), respectively.

Also in the pipeline is the MG Majestor, the facelifted version of the MG Gloster that was showcased at Auto Expo 2025 in January. The updated model features a notably aggressive exterior with a massive front grille, prominent skid plates, split headlamps, chunky wheel arch cladding, etc. Also new on the outside are connected tail lamps and six-double-spoke alloy wheels.

Inside, the MG Majestor may feature a slightly redesigned dashboard with new AC vents, a new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a larger, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

Additional comfort and convenience features like a ventilated front passenger seat and a power tailgate may further enhance the appeal of the Toyota Fortuner. Lastly, Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems will likely bring a significant safety improvement. No major mechanical changes are expected in this model either.

RE Flying Flea Scram India Debut Likely Soon – What We Know So Far

GaadiWaadi -

Royal-Enfield-Flying-Flea-S6-2.jpg

Royal Enfield Flying Flea Scrambler will officially go on sale in late 2026 while the C6 is expected to launch in the coming months

Royal Enfield used the EICMA 2025 stage to introduce what is easily its most adventurous product yet in terms of electrification, the Flying Flea S6. While last year’s FF.C6 leaned heavily toward urban usage and will be launched in the coming months, the S6 pushes the portfolio toward a scrambler-inspired direction and it will be more versatile.

Royal Enfield did not create the S6 from a clean slate and instead, it has dipped back into the ethos of the historic Flying Flea motorcycles that were famously lightweight, task-oriented and even dropped into remote zones during wartime. That spirit shows up clearly in the proportions and mechanical bits of this forthcoming scrambler.

It boasts an enduro-style saddle, an upside down front fork system, chain final drive and a wheel setup that pairs a 19-inch front with an 18-inch rear. One element that stands out immediately is the battery enclosure. Cast in magnesium to keep mass in check, the pack carries a set of sculpted fins that help enhance cooling and to please aesthetically of course.

The forward-facing blades feel decidedly modern while the trailing ones nod to the Flying Flea lineage. Both meet at a wing-like centre section, almost like a quiet signature hidden in plain sight. The S6’s cockpit is anchored by a circular touchscreen – a deliberate throwback to older Flea instruments. It runs a custom operating interface driven by Qualcomm’s QWM2290 chipset enabling Wi-Fi, 4G, Bluetooth and tight phone integration.

Navigation, media control and system settings are laid out in an intuitive format. Riding aids on the S6 extend well beyond typical commuter EV expectations. There’s an off-road riding mode, adjustable traction control, lean-sensitive ABS and the option to fully defeat the dual-channel ABS system when the terrain demands it. The brains behind all of this is the brand’s in-house Vehicle Control Unit.

It is capable of fine-tuning behaviour across thousands of combinations. Energy management and communication are handled by NXP microcontrollers. RE has built a connected ecosystem around the S6 too as owners can interact with the vehicle via a smartwatch or the dedicated app – enabling features such as remote diagnostics, mode switching, charge-status checks and keyless operation.

RE is targeting a late-2026 market arrival for the S6 and its key technical specifications are expected to be announced in the meantime and we will have to wait and see whether it will make its India debut at the MotoVerse fest or not.

New Mini Cooper Convertible Bookings Open, Launch Next Month

GaadiWaadi -

Mini-Cooper.-Convertible-India.jpg

Mini Cooper Convertible is equipped with an electrically operated soft top which can be opened or shut while driving at low speeds

BMW India has started taking bookings for the new Mini Cooper Convertible before its official launch, locked in for December 2025. The company is trying to build momentum well in advance as it prepares to bring back one of the few open-top models still offered in this segment. Reservations are being accepted through Mini dealerships as well as through the brand’s online platform.

Customers can get in touch with their nearest authorised Mini outlet to reserve the Convertible with the brand currently operating ten dealerships in Delhi and Gurugram, Pune, Kochi, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Kolkata. Although the design continues to follow Mini tradition, the Convertible has its apparent unique proposition.

It gets an electrically operated soft top which is the key differentiator between this version and the hardtop. The roof can be opened or shut while driving at low speeds – making it convenient during sudden weather changes. The new Cooper Convertible sports circular LED lamps, distinct DRL signatures and an octagonal grille with black inserts.

At the rear, the elongated Union Jack tail lamps serve as a reminder of Mini’s British roots.
From the side, there are only subtle changes compared to the regular Cooper. The fabric top, the contrast 17-inch alloy wheels and the black cladding around the wheel arches give it a slightly more relaxed attitude. The car retains its compact proportions, short overhangs and upright stance.

On the inside, Mini has stuck to its rounded theme but the execution feels more modern. The centre of the cabin is the 9.4-inch OLED display which doubles as the infotainment unit and the instrument cluster. High-end equipment like the head-up display, ambient lighting, wireless charging and the Harman Kardon sound system will likely be offered as well.

Mechanically, the Convertible does not stray from what Mini already uses worldwide. The 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine delivers 204 hp and 300 Nm, and is coupled with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The additional structural reinforcement required for the open-top body does make the car slightly heavier which explains the 6.9-second 0–100 kmph time.

Supreme Court Proposes Phasing Out Luxury Fuel Cars To Boost EV Adoption

2025 BMW M5 Specs

Supreme Court suggests restricting luxury fuel cars to accelerate India’s EV transition

The Supreme Court has suggested that India consider phasing out high-end petrol and diesel cars as an initial step toward strengthening the country’s electric vehicle (EV) transition. The proposal came while a bench comprising Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi heard a public interest petition seeking more effective implementation of existing EV promotion policies.

During the hearing, Justice Kant noted that premium internal-combustion vehicles are used by a relatively small segment of the population, and restricting them could help accelerate the shift without burdening the average consumer. He also pointed out that several larger, more advanced EV models are now available, offering performance and comfort comparable to conventional luxury cars.

Attorney General R. Venkataramani, representing the Union government, indicated that the Centre is open to the idea. He informed the bench that 13 ministries are working jointly on EV-related matters and reiterated that the government has been moving forward with various initiatives in this sector.

Advocate Prashant Bhushan, appearing for the petitioner – the Centre for Public Interest Litigation – highlighted that although incentives helped reduce the cost barrier for EV buyers, the growth of charging infrastructure remains a major concern.

The bench remarked that charging networks typically expand in response to rising EV adoption and suggested that fuel stations could also incorporate charging facilities. The judges added that the current policy framework may merit a review to match evolving market needs.

The Attorney General committed to submitting a detailed report on the notifications and measures issued so far. The court scheduled the next hearing for four weeks later.

Hyundai Teases New Crater Concept, Hinting At A New Off-Road-Oriented SUV

GaadiWaadi -

Hyundai Crater Concept

Set to debut at the 2025 LA Auto Show on 20th November, Hyundai’s new concept to preview an off-road-oriented SUV

Extreme SUVs purpose-built for off-road and outdoor-adventure enthusiasts are emerging as a major growth segment in the U.S. Noticing this trend, Hyundai has announced a new concept signalling its entry into this space – the Crater. The Hyundai Crater concept has a brawny, masculine exterior with strong proportions that give it an imposing visual presence. Upright front and rear, a high ground clearance, and muscular surfaces give it a confidence-inspiring, tread-anywhere look.

Special bumpers designed to deliver high approach and departure angles stylishly expose the extra-wide, knobby tires. A high-set, sculpted bonnet features prominent power bulges that not only elevate the rugged appearance but also aid front-corner judgement on narrow trails.

Large skid plates provide essential protection against rocks and other obstacles on off-road trails and minimise the collection of debris like sand, mud, and snow. The teasers don’t show, but the concept could be discreetly integrating heavy-duty recovery points at the front and rear. Roof-mounted auxiliary lights and carrier round up the hardcore adventure-ready look.

Hyundai Crater Concept (2)

The Hyundai Crater is not entirely a boxy old-school SUV, as it features even sophisticated design elements all around. At the front, extremely slim headlights are integrated into the body and feature a pixel-like shape. Similarly, four illuminated dots below the brand logo spell “H” in Morse code.

On the sides, the Hyundai Crater features camera-based virtual mirrors instead of regular glass ones and also a noticeably sleek glasshouse for a vehicle of its type. At the rear, the tail lights mimic the design of the headlights, and similarly, the “H” letter is spelled in Morse code with pixel-look illuminated dots.

The production version of the Hyundai Crater could be based on a modified version of the Hyundai Santa Fe’s platform and compete with the likes of the Jeep Wrangler, Ford Bronco, and Toyota 4Runner. The road-ready model could be unveiled sometime by 2028, but we don’t see it making it to India.

Hyundai is working on an off-road-oriented SUV for India, though, and it could use certain elements of the Crater concept in it. The Indian model should compete with the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ due in 2028, although it will likely be priced in a much lower segment.

2026 Maruti Suzuki Brezza Facelift Spied Testing For The 1st Time

GaadiWaadi -

2026-Maruti-Suzuki-Brezza-Spied.jpg

2026 Maruti Suzuki Brezza is expected to get mild cosmetic updates, an updated interior and underbody CNG tank fitment

The second generation Brezza is preparing to get a big update and it has officially stepped into the open with a heavily camouflaged prototype caught running trials on public roads for the first time. Despite the covers doing their best to hide the bodywork, a handful of changes still managed to peek through.

Interestingly, the spy shots stirred up talk around something far more significant than the design tweaks. The test mule showed a CNG sticker on the rear glass and the individual who filmed it claimed that this test mule carries its CNG tank underneath the body rather than inside the boot and thus preserving space.

If this setup makes it to the production-spec model, the 2026 Maruti Suzuki Brezza would follow the footsteps of the Victoris which pioneered the largest carmaker in the country’s underfloor CNG approach – solving the long-standing boot space compromise seen on traditional CNG cars. It could give the Brezza a big advantage too amongst competitors.

On the styling front, the overall greenhouse looks familiar suggesting that Maruti Suzuki is not planning major sheet metal changes. Even so, the tail lamp cluster appears to sport a mild revision and alloy wheels could get a new design as well. A shark fin antenna sits on top while an integrated spoiler with high-mounted stop lamp can also be seen.

Rumours surrounding this test mule indicate that the facelifted Brezza might graduate to a Level 2 ADAS system. This would put it in a far stronger position against rivals now offering lane support tech, collision mitigation and adaptive driver aids. While none of the sensors were clearly visible through the wrap, we think it could very well be the case.

Where the mechanicals are concerned, the brand does not seem to be rewriting the basics. The dependable 1.5-litre K15C four-cylinder motor is expected to continue. The petrol engine should maintain its familiar 102 bhp and 137 Nm tune while the factory CNG version will likely stick to its 87 bhp and 121.5 Nm output.

Gearbox pairings may not change either as a manual for both with the petrol also offering the 6-speed automatic option likely. Earlier this year, Maruti Suzuki updated the Brezza with six airbags as standard along with other safety features. It will continue to sit on the Global C platform which earned it a four-star GNCAP rating and thus with improved safety bits, it could aim for full marks in its upcoming avatar.

Mahindra XUV 7XO To Likely Be The Name Of XUV 700 Facelift – Here’s Why

GaadiWaadi -

2026-Mahindra-XUV-700-Facelift-Spied.jpg

Mahindra XUV 7XO will more likely go on sale early next year and it will get a host of revisions inside the cabin with mild cosmetic updates

Early last year, Mahindra & Mahindra applied trademark filings for new names such as XUV 1XO, XUV 3XO, XUV 5XO and XUV 7XO. While the XUV 3XO turned out to be the rebranded XUV 300 with multiple updates inside and out, the XUV 7XO was initially thought to be the XUV.e8 concept based three-row electric SUV based on the XUV 700.

However, we officially know that the brand’s first all-electric three-row offering will carry the XEV 9S moniker as it is based on the same INGLO platform as the XEV 9E. Thus, utilising the XUV 7XO nameplate for the updated XUV 700 which has been caught testing multiple times in recent months only makes sense.

In the future, the XUV 1XO and XUV 5XO names could make way for a micro SUV and a 4.3-metre long midsize SUV respectively or they might be left unused as it is too early to tell at this moment. The Mahindra XUV 7XO will go on sale in the first quarter of next calendar year and it will get a slew of revisions.

The exterior gets a slightly redesigned front end featuring a reworked bumper and updated headlamp elements. Mahindra seems to be retaining the signature flush-type door handles from the current version and as you might expect, the overall profile will remain unchanged. The XUV 7XO is also expected to sport a new design for its alloy wheels.

It may also retain the same overall dimensions and glasshouse as the current model. Mahindra will likely complement these subtle design tweaks with a few new exterior paint options. At the rear, the XUV700’s taillights seem to retain their familiar outline – though the internals look to be revised mildly.

On the inside, Mahindra appears to be bringing in big revisions as upgraded materials and some of the detailing as well as equipment are inspired by its latest born-electric models. The equipment list will be headlined by a new triple-screen setup. Front ventilated seats, an updated suite of Level 2 ADAS functions, automatic climate control and wireless phone charging will remain.

Other highlights of the Mahindra XUV 7XO will include USB Type-C ports, a 360-degree camera system, full-LED lighting, ambient illumination, multiple airbags, adjustable headrests, etc. Under the hood, the 2026 Mahindra XUV700 will retain its proven powertrains – the 2.0-litre mStallion petrol and the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engines.
