1. Nissan Compact MPV:

Nissan is preparing to introduce a new MPV built on the CMF-A+ platform already seen on the Renault Kiger with strong localisation set to play a key role in keeping prices competitive. The 7-seater will be manufactured at Nissan’s plant in Tamil Nadu and will be offered with the familiar 1.0-litre petrol engine in NA and turbo configurations. Its first public appearance is scheduled for December 18, 2025.

Maruti Suzuki is working on a three-row electric MPV, known by its YMC codename, which will sit above the e Vitara and mirror much of its underlying hardware. Key elements such as the electric motors and battery technology are expected to be shared with manufacturing and export operations handled from Maruti Suzuki’s Gujarat plant. This programme may also feed into a Toyota-branded version. The YMC could arrive in late 2026 or early 2027.

4. Citroen e Spacetourer:

Citroen is understood to be assessing the e-Spacetourer for the Indian market where it would be positioned against models such as the MG M9. In overseas markets, the electric MPV is available in two variants and can be had with either a standard or long wheelbase layout. It is driven by a 75 kWh battery which is claimed to deliver a maximum range of up to 348 km on a full charge.

5. Hyundai MPV:

At its latest Investors Day briefing, Hyundai outlined an ambitious roadmap for India, confirming that it plans to roll out as many as 26 models by the end of the decade, including seven entirely new nameplates. Within this wide-ranging product plan, two future offerings were highlighted in particular – an all-new MPV and a rugged SUV with a clear focus on off-road capability. The MPV, in particular, is expected to sit at the premium end of the people-mover space and is widely believed to take design and positioning cues from the Stargazer.

6. Maruti Suzuki Compact MPV:

Suzuki-Spacia-1.jpgMaruti Suzuki is said to be developing a compact MPV that will slot in below the Ertiga in its lineup – targeting the sub-four-metre segment. Planned for a possible market entry around 2027 or 2028, the model is likely to take clear design and packaging cues from the Japan-market Spacia. Power is expected to come from a locally engineered strong-hybrid petrol setup.

Mahindra Scorpio N

Mahindra finished third for the month, behind Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors, securing a market share of around 13.5 per cent

Mahindra & Mahindra posted total domestic dispatches of 56,336 units with a year-on-year rise of 22 per cent in November 2025. Despite this growth, month-on-month numbers dipped by 21 per cent from October’s higher tally of 71,624 units. In the overall manufacturer rankings, Mahindra finished third for the month, behind Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors, securing a market share of around 13.5 per cent.

The Scorpio range once again emerged as Mahindra’s single biggest contributor. With 15,616 units sold, it posted a healthy 23 per cent year-on-year increase over last November’s 12,704 units. However, sales declined by 13 per cent compared to October when dispatches were higher at 17,880 units.

The Mahindra Bolero series, which received a facelift a few months ago, followed closely with 10,521 units – delivering one of the strongest year-on-year performances in brand’s lineup. Its sales jumped 49 per cent compared to November 2024 indicating consistent demand in semi-urban and rural regions. That said, volumes dropped sharply by 27 per cent month-on-month, down from 14,343 units in October, representing a post-festive slowdown.

The Mahindra Thar remained another key pillar for the brand. It recorded 10,234 units in November resulting in an 18 per cent year-on-year increase. Compared to October’s 12,029 units, sales fell by 15 per cent due to the softer discretionary buying after the festive period. Even so, the Thar continues to hold its position as the most consistent selling lifestyle SUV in the country.

The XUV 3XO added further momentum with 10,601 units sold – up 38 per cent year-on-year. While month-on-month volumes declined by 13 per cent, the compact SUV undoubtedly strengthens Mahindra’s presence in the sub-four-metre segment. In contrast, the XUV 700 struggled, posting 6,176 units – down 32 per cent year-on-year and 39 per cent lower than October but the arrival of the facelifted XUV 7XO is highly awaited.

Newer EVs like the BE 6 and XEV 9e posted 1,314 and 1,423 units respectively with month-on-month declines. Meanwhile, Marazzo remained marginal at 47 units despite a steep percentage rise.

Kia Seltos Hybrid Confirmed – Launch & Other Key Details

GaadiWaadi -

All-new Kia Seltos Hybrid coming to global markets early next year, but India to get a different configuration later

Kia has big plans for the all-new Seltos in India, which is set to be the fully redesigned model’s first market worldwide. The company will start sales in January and has already started planning for the first-ever hybrid variant.

According to a new report from Autocar Professional, the all-new Kia Seltos Hybrid will likely go on sale in India by June 2027. Kia engineered the latest model to be compatible with a hybrid system from the beginning, but it wants to localise many of the core additional components to ensure competitive pricing, and that will take some time.

Atul Sood, the Senior Vice President – Sales & Marketing, Kia India, has hinted that the company may offer hybrid technology first on another model before the all-new Seltos. In all likelihood, Sood was referring to the Sorento Hybrid, which the company has already imported from South Korea for local testing and is widely expected to launch around the festive season this year.

New Kia Seltos 4

The Sorento Hybrid’s powertrain is a more advanced, higher-output unit based on a larger, 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine. Kia may use this model to showcase its engineering prowess and raise customer awareness of hybrid technology to build interest well ahead of the Seltos Hybrid’s launch.

Globally, Kia will use a 1.6-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine in the Seltos Hybrid. The company does not manufacture this engine in India or has any plans to localise it in the near future. To keep the development and production costs in check, it will likely adapt the regular all-new Seltos’s 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, which it does produce locally.

New Kia Seltos (3)

In the all-new Seltos, the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine develops 114 hp and 144 Nm of torque, but Kia may retune it for the Seltos Hybrid. We expect the latter to easily deliver a fuel economy of close to 25 km/l.

This electrification should translate to a 35-40% gain in fuel economy over the regular all-new Seltos with the same engine. The Seltos Hybrid will also offer the convenience of vehicle-to-load bi-directional charging, allowing customers to power external devices using the energy stored in the traction battery pack.

Honda Targets Higher Market Share With 10 Models By 2030

GaadiWaadi -

Honda-0-α-Alpha-EV-India-1.jpg

Following muted efforts over the past five years, Honda to ramp up efforts with a major product offensive for the next five years

In its search for a new market with a strong growth potential and minimal competition from Chinese carmakers, Honda has zeroed in on India. The company has created a dedicated India project team at the global level as part of its heightened focus on the market.

Honda has lined up ten launches between 2026 and 2030, including new cars, mid-cycle refreshes, and full model changes. For obvious reasons, it has not disclosed the entire roadmap, but we already have a fair idea of which major launches are in the pipeline.

In the first half of next year, Honda will launch the Prelude, its new hybrid sports coupe that serves as a replacement for the previous generation Civic Coupe. The company will import it as a CBU from Japan and may price it somewhere in the range of 70-80 lakh rupees (ex-showroom). The Prelude is based on the same platform as the latest Civic Hybrid, and in the markets where Honda has already launched it, experts have criticised it for being underpowered and overpriced as well as for its obvious lack of a manual transmission.

Honda Prelude

Later in 2026, most likely in the fourth quarter, Honda will launch the ZR-V, its new VW Tiguan rival. The company will import this model as a CBU from Japan and is expected to price it somewhere between 50 and 55 lakh rupees (ex-showroom).

The Prelude and ZR-V will have the same hybrid powertrain, based on a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated direct injection petrol engine. The Prelude accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.2 seconds, achieves a top speed of 188 km/h, and delivers a WLTC fuel economy of 23.6 km/l. The ZR-V Hybrid hits 0 to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds but maxes out at 173 km/h and returns a WLTC fuel economy of 22.1 km/l.

Honda ZR-V

Honda is also working on a facelift for the Elevate and the second such refresh for the fifth-generation City. The company will likely launch both the new Elevate and the new City in the second half of 2026. In early 2027, Honda will launch the 0 Alpha as its first EV in India. This model will be a Hyundai Creta Electric rival, but designed and engineered as an EV from the ground up. The company will offer it with a choice of two battery packs, both of which will have CATL-made LFP cells imported from Indonesia.

Within a year of the 0 Alpha launch, Honda will likely bring the 0 SUV, a D-segment model that will be manufactured in the U.S. The 0 SUV will be a CBU import and could easily cost somewhere between 70 and 80 lakh rupees (ex-showroom).

Honda-0-α-Alpha-EV-India-2.jpg

In the first half of 2028, Honda will launch the next-gen City, developed on an all-new platform codenamed ‘PF2.’ The company will offer a hybrid variant of this model and heavily localise it to price it competitively. The PF2 platform will bring a seven-seat Honda SUV also to India, as well as the next-gen Honda Elevate and potentially a sub-4 metre SUV.

Renault And Nissan To Launch 3 Models In The Next 6 Months

GaadiWaadi -

Dacia Duster (1)

Renault and Nissan to roll out their first all-new mass-market cars in India after a five-year hiatus

Renault and Nissan’s product line-ups in India have not seen much product, save for a few facelifts and a CBU. Finally, next year, they will unleash a new product offensive that will see the launch of six brand-new products within the next six months.

On 18 December, Nissan will take the covers off a new sub-4 metre MPV designed and engineered mainly for India. The company will likely price it between 5.75 and 6 lakh rupees (ex-showroom) and commence sales in the first half of January.

The upcoming Nissan MPV will essentially be a mechanical cousin of the Renault Triber and have nearly the same design. On the outside, it should have small changes like differently designed bumpers, distinctive front grilles, unique 15-inch alloy wheels, and tweaked headlamp and tail lamp clusters.

The interior would have fewer differences, mostly limited to the colour scheme, trim, and graphics in the displays. A 2+3+2 seating layout will be standard, with the third row featuring removable seats to expand the boot volume when five or fewer people are travelling. On 26 January, Renault will introduce its first all-new model in five years – the third-generation Duster. The all-new Duster features a rugged yet sophisticated exterior that’s poised to perfectly align with the taste of Indian consumers in its segment.

The interior is a major departure from the first-generation model that was sold in India, featuring a whole new level of classiness and packing a host of premium equipment. Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems will likely be available in the top trim. The third-generation Duster will likely be launched with 1.0- and 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engines in February. A first-ever Renault Duster Hybrid will follow by early 2027.

Nissan Tekton (2)
Nissan Tekton

Nissan is working on a corporate cousin of the upcoming Duster, called the ‘Tekton,’ and expects to launch it in June. Although the body shell will be shared, the exterior will look substantially different. Inspired by the seventh-generation Patrol, which is under consideration for India, the Tekton will have a bolder look with connected DRLs and tail lights and a block-lettered model inscription on the bonnet. The interior should have fewer differences, while the engines and transmissions would be the same.
