2026 Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift will get minor cosmetic updates but a host of new features could be added

The first notable update for the Maruti Suzuki Brezza is expected to arrive in early 2026 and instead of focussing only on cosmetic tweaks, the facelift could introduce a key functional upgrade which could improve everyday usability. Recent test sightings have fuelled speculation that the compact SUV may switch to an underfloor CNG tank layout – similar to what Maruti Suzuki has already implemented on the Victoris.

The change could prove significant for buyers opting for the factory-fitted CNG version. By relocating the gas cylinder beneath the floor instead of inside the boot, the Brezza would regain much of its luggage space – an area where current CNG models compromise the most. Spy vehicles seen earlier with CNG badging on the rear windshield strongly hint that the brand is evaluating this configuration for the facelift.

It will help compete against models utilising dual cylinder tech. Mechanically, the Brezza is expected to continue with its existing powertrain lineup. The 1.5-litre K15C four-pot petrol engine should carry over unchanged – producing 102 bhp power and 137 Nm of torque while the CNG version will more likely retain outputs of 87 bhp and 121.5 Nm.

Transmission options are also expected to remain familiar with a manual gearbox available on both fuel types and a 6-speed torque converter automatic reserved for petrol variants. In terms of safety and platform fundamentals, the facelifted Brezza will continue to be underpinned by Maruti Suzuki’s Global C architecture. There is also growing chatter around the possible addition of Level 2 ADAS but the test mules have hinted otherwise yet.

As for the exterior, the changes appear restrained. Test mules have revealed a new alloy wheel design while the front end seems to feature subtle revisions. Tweaked lighting elements and reworked detailing should give the facelifted Brezza a slightly sharper face – drawing mild inspiration from newer products like the Victoris.

Despite these updates, the SUV’s overall proportions and stance remain unchanged. At the rear, revisions are expected to be minimal. Slightly altered tail-lamp internals may be part of the update but features such as the roof-mounted spoiler with integrated high-mounted stop lamp and the shark fin antenna continue unchanged.

Spy shots so far have not shown us the dashboard layout but we expect feature inclusions such as a larger touchscreen infotainment system, a new digital console, more premium surface trims and materials, etc.

Tata Motors is all set to introduce petrol-powered versions of the Harrier and Safari soon in India and we got a taste of the duo recently. At the heart of this transition lies the all-new 1.5-litre Hyperion turbo GDi four-cylinder petrol engine which develops 170 PS maximum power and 280 Nm of peak torque. It is offered with both 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions across the Harrier and Safari portfolios.

Tata has engineered this engine around durability and real-world usability featuring an electronically actuated variable geometry turbocharger, 350-bar gasoline direct injection and AI- and ML-driven systems such as Smart Shift Assist and Launch Assist. Compared to diesel versions, the petrol models benefit from an approximate 80 kg weight reduction.

The Hyperion engine uses a Miller combustion cycle with the segment’s highest compression ratio, supported by an intelligent fuelling system that continuously optimises efficiency. NVH levels are also significantly improved through a stiffened engine block with an integrated ladder frame, advanced acoustic insulation materials and high-pressure fuel injectors with built-in isolators. Tata claims over 15 lakh kilometres of real-world testing and more than 10,000 hours of bench testing across extreme climates and terrains.

Both SUVs continue to sit on Tata’s OMEGARC architecture derived from Land Rover’s D8 platform. In terms of dimensions and road presence, the Harrier maintains its 4.6-metre-long muscular stance while the Safari retains its three-row proportions. On the design and cabin front, the petrol Harrier introduces Oyster White and Titan Brown interior theme, complemented by Benecke Kaliko leatherette upholstery and 18-inch Lunar Graphite alloy wheels.

The Safari, meanwhile, gets a more regal Carnelian Red interior with matching premium leatherette seats, Steel Black dashboard accents and larger 19-inch Blackstone alloy wheels with red brake callipers. Both SUVs gain unique exterior colour options including the bold “Nitro Crimson” shade and a sporty Carbon Black finish.

Tata Safari Petrol

One of the main features is a 36.9 cm cinematic infotainment display powered by Samsung Neo QLED technology – claimed to be the world’s first of its kind in an ICE vehicle. It is paired with a Dolby Atmos-enabled audio system featuring 10 JBL speakers including a subwoofer and central channel. Additional highlights include an arcade app suite with streaming apps, built-in Mappls navigation, iRA 2.0 connected tech, Alexa Home-to-Car integration and a JLR-derived command shifter on automatic variants.

Both Harrier and Safari petrol models offer powered front seats with memory and welcome functions, ventilated seating with second-row ventilation exclusive to select Safari variants, dual-zone climate control with voice assistance, panoramic sunroof with mood lighting, ambient cabin illumination and a gesture-controlled powered tailgate. Practical features such as winged second-row headrests, sliding armrests, roll-up sun blinds and ClearView dual-camera washer systems are also available.

Tata Harrier Petrol (3)

The petrol Harrier and Safari are rated 5 stars under Bharat NCAP and come equipped with Level 2+ ADAS featuring over 22 advanced driver assistance functions including adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, intelligent speed assist and autonomous emergency braking. An advanced electronic stability program with multiple intervention functions ensures added confidence across varying driving conditions.

Variant-wise, the petrol powertrain is spread across Smart, Pure, Adventure, Fearless and Accomplished trims for both SUVs with multiple Dark, Stealth and Ultra editions expanding buyer choice. While entry-level variants focus on value, the Ultra trims position themselves as fully loaded offerings especially in the automatic configuration.

Mahindra & Mahindra launched the Scorpio N in the Indian market in 2022, and it became an instant hit, accumulating thousands of bookings and commanding a very high waiting period. Over the years, the SUV received minor feature updates, with the latest one adding Level 2 ADAS to the package. Now, the Scorpio N is ready to receive its first mid-life facelift update.

Expected to launch in the first half of 2026, the Scorpio N facelift has already been spotted testing on multiple occasions in a fully camouflaged guise. Going by the spy shots, the overall silhouette will remain unchanged, which means that there will be no major sheet metal changes. The majority of exterior updates will likely be concentrated to the minor plastic parts, along with a new set of LED headlamps, fog lights and tail lamps.

Apart from this, the SUV could also get a new front grille, however, nothing can be confirmed as of now. While the alloy wheels in the test mules are the same as the current model, we expect the facelift to feature a new design for the alloy wheels, both for 17 and 18-inch sizes. Mahindra could also upgrade the wheel size to 19-inch in the top-spec trims, as seen in the likes of the Thar Roxx.

The details of the interior upgrades of the Scorpio N facelift are scarce at the moment, but we expect the SUV to feature a new 10.25-inch infotainment system, available in the Thar Roxx. It will likely be a free-standing unit, which could result in minor tweaks to the dashboard layout, particularly to the centre console.

Setting this aside, we can see some changes to the interior theme as well as upholstery. It will be interesting to see if Mahindra adds a fully digital instrument cluster and panoramic sunroof to the package, as it is the only model in the brand’s latest line-up to miss out on these features.

Under the hood, the Scorpio N facelift will continue to be powered by the familiar 2.0-litre mStallion and 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engines, paired to 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox options. The SUV comes with a rear-wheel drive (RWD) configuration as standard, with the option of 4WD in select diesel variants.

Toyota could soon plug a crucial gap in its SUV portfolio with the Land Cruiser FJ – a compact off-roader that sits well below the Fortuner while retaining genuine Land Cruiser credentials. Although India hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, demand for lifestyle SUVs and Toyota’s long-term expansion plans make the FJ a realistic future contender for the market within the next couple of years as it plans to bring in 15 new models by 2030.

Set to go on sale in Japan by mid-2026, the Land Cruiser FJ was revealed to the world at the Japan Mobility Show 2025. The model stays true to its roots drawing inspiration from the legendary FJ40. The Japanese brand’s idea is to simply offer a smaller and more accessible Land Cruiser without diluting the brand’s off-road prowess.

From a mechanical standpoint, Toyota has taken a conservative route. The Land Cruiser FJ uses the IMV ladder frame chassis – a platform already familiar to Indian buyers through the Fortuner and Hilux. The body-on-frame construction should ensure durability as well as improve the feasibility of adapting the SUV for Indian conditions.

Toyota Land cruiser FJ (6)

Under the bonnet, the FJ is expected to rely on Toyota’s long-serving 2.7-litre 2TR-FE naturally aspirated petrol engine. Mated to a 6-speed Super ECT automatic gearbox, the motor produces a maximum power output of around 163 PS and 246 Nm of peak torque. In terms of size, the Land Cruiser FJ occupies a compact footprint by Land Cruiser standards.

It measures 4,575 mm in length, 1,855 mm in width and 1,960 mm in height, while the wheelbase stands at 2,580 mm. This is around 270 mm shorter than the Land Cruiser 250, resulting in a tighter turning radius of approximately 5.5 metres. The compact proportions should help both on narrow trails and in dense urban traffic.

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ

The SUV adopts a boxy and upright silhouette with squared-off panels and circular design elements that immediately reference older Land Cruisers. Functional touches such as removable bumper sections, heavy-duty cladding, exposed mounting points and support for external accessories reiterate its positioning as a serious off-road machine.

The interior is designed for durability and usability which will make it appeal to buyers who prioritise adventure and reliability over luxury. While Toyota has not yet revealed India-specific plans, the Land Cruiser FJ’s positioning below the Fortuner – combined with growing interest in compact off-roaders, makes it a strong candidate for a future Indian launch. The electric two-wheeler segment continues to grow in the Indian automotive market with a multitude of products on offer, spread across different price brackets. As the demand soars, two-wheeler manufacturers will introduce fresh models in order to capture a larger market share. In line with this, Yamaha, Ather and Bajaj will launch new electric scooters in India.

To begin with, Bajaj Auto is working on the next-gen Chetak, which is expected to debut sometime next year, i.e. 2026. For reference, the Chetak is currently one of the best-selling e-scooters in the Indian market, often topping the sales chart.

The new-gen Chetak has already been spotted testing, revealing some new design elements like new tail light, rear tyre hugger, a flatter seat and a fresh switchgear console. While the powertrain details are under wraps, the Chetak EV will likely retain the existing 3.5 kWh battery pack, with a claimed range of around 150 kilometres on a single charge.

On the other hand, Ather Energy is preparing to launch multiple fresh models in the country. The Indian electric two-wheeler manufacturer showcased the EL platform in August this year as the next-gen EV architecture, which will underpin a range of new e-scooters. The highlight of the new EL platform includes an advanced electronic braking system (AEBS) and a new Charge Drive Controller with an integrated on-board charger.

The EL01 Concept was also showcased by the Indian EV startup, which will be a family-oriented electric scooter. The first scooter from the brand’s EL range will go on sale around the festive season of 2026.

Meanwhile, Yamaha will debut in the electric two-wheeler space with its Aerox-E and EC-6, both of which were showcased in November 2025. The Aerox-E is basically the electrified version of the ICE Aerox, sporting a familiar design language. It gets a 3 kWh battery pack, mated to a 9.4 kW electric motor, producing 48 Nm of peak torque. The claimed range of the Aerox-E stands at 106 kilometres on a single charge. The e-scooter gets 3 riding modes, i.e. Eco, Standard and Power, along with a dedicated reverse mode.

On the other hand, the Yamaha EC-06 is based on the production model from River, targeting a broader range of customers. Talking about specifications, the e-scooter gets a 4 kWh high-capacity fixed battery pack with a claimed range of 160 kilometres on a single charge. It is mated to a 4.5 kW electric motor, tuned to produce a peak power of 6.7 kW. Both the electric scooters from Yamaha are scheduled for a launch in the first quarter of 2026.

Supreme Court reinstates ban on BS3 and older vehicles in Delhi-NCR

The Supreme Court has ended the temporary protection earlier granted to end-of-life vehicles (EOL) with Bharat Stage III or older emission standards in Delhi-NCR. These vehicles will once again be subject to enforcement action, marking a reversal of the court’s August 12 order that had paused penalties against EOL vehicles in the region.

The decision follows a recommendation from the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), which highlighted the deteriorating air quality in Delhi and pressed for reinstating curbs on older, higher-polluting vehicles. During the hearing, the Centre also supported modifying the earlier order, arguing that the exemption was being misused by owners of 10-year-old diesel and 15-year-old petrol vehicles that are otherwise prohibited in Delhi-NCR.

The bench, led by Chief Justice Surya Kant, clarified that only BS4 and newer vehicles will continue to receive protection from coercive action. This effectively reinstates the earlier policy framework that bans the use of BS3 and older vehicles – classified as end-of-life vehicles – on public roads in the national capital region.

The CAQM’s request stemmed from observations that the August order had allowed thousands of outdated vehicles to return to the roads, reversing years of progress in curbing vehicular pollution. The commission compared emissions of these BS3-and-older vehicles with modern BS6 models and noted a significant difference in pollution output, prompting the need for immediate corrective steps.

This ruling also restores the intent of the Supreme Court’s 2018 order, which had endorsed the National Green Tribunal’s 2014 directive to phase out old polluting vehicles from Delhi-NCR as part of long-term measures to tackle persistent smog and deteriorating air quality.

3 All New Nissan Cars Confirmed To Launch In 2026-27 – 2 SUVs & 1 MPV

Nissan to launch new models in sub-4 metre and 4-metre-plus segments, aiming both value-focused and aspirational buyers

Nissan has reaffirmed plans to launch three new cars in India in the next two years, which will expand its locally manufactured line-up to four models. The company currently only sells the Magnite and X-Trail, with the latter being a pricey CBU import.

Next month, Nissan will launch the first of the three upcoming cars – the Gravite. This model will be a seven-seat MPV closely related to the Renault Triber, featuring the same body shell and CMF-A+ platform, but it will feature noticeable design changes.

At the front, the Nissan Gravite will be differentiated from the Renault Triber, with tweaked headlamp graphics, hexagonal inserts in the upper grille, a more muscular bumper with a large C-shaped trim along the sides, and a sleeker lower air intake grille. Additionally, an SUV-inspired block-lettered brand inscription at the leading edge of the bonnet will give it a stronger first impression.

The side profile and rear will carry fewer changes, including unique 16-inch alloy wheels and a chrome appliqué on the tailgate and a more muscular bumper featuring a hexagonal motif and a large C-shaped trim along the sides. Similarly, we expect the interior to be largely identical, barring minor changes like a new colour scheme, upholstery, and trim and Nissan branding in the displays. The engines and transmissions should be no different from those of the Renault Triber.

Around June, Nissan will launch the Tekton SUV, which will share a similar relationship with the third-generation Renault Duster. However, in this case, save for the body shell, the entire exterior will be different. The Nissan Tekton will embody the brand’s latest SUV design language and draw inspiration from the seventh-generation Nissan Patrol.

In 2027, possibly in the second quarter of the year, Nissan will launch a three-row SUV derived from the Gravite, which will again be mechanically similar to another model from Renault, expected to arrive as early as the end of 2026. Both the Tekton and the three-row SUV will likely have hybrid variants as well, following at a later stage.
