Mahindra To Likely Debut NU_IQ Platform With Vision S-Derived SUV

GaadiWaadi -

Mahindra Vision S White Color1

Mahindra Vision S based compact SUV is expected to launch sometime next year and it could be positioned below the Scorpio N

Mahindra & Mahindra appears to be preparing to bring in a new compact SUV that could reshape its lineup when it arrives in 2027. The recent spy images of the production version of the Vision S concept suggest the project is progressing well and what first drew attention to this SUV was its unmistakably upright stance similar to the Scorpio N.

Its tight overhangs, squared glass areas and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel give it a traditional SUV silhouette – a design approach that distances it from crossover-heavy rivals. These proportions had initially led to speculation around a next-gen Bolero but repeated sightings and design consistency now firmly link the test mule to the Vision S showcased last year.

The Vision S concept made its public debut during Mahindra’s Freedom NU event where it shared the stage with the Vision X, Vision T and Vision SXT. Among the four, Vision S stood out for its production-ready proportions and realistic design. While the Vision T leaned into hardcore off-road territory and the Vision X explored a more urban crossover form, Vision S appeared engineered to become a mainstream SUV, positioned below the Scorpio N.

Underneath the bodywork, this upcoming SUV is expected to introduce Mahindra’s NU_IQ monocoque platform. The all-new architecture has been developed to support a wide range of powertrains and vehicle sizes. The company has already confirmed that its first NU_IQ-based product will reach showrooms around 2027 and the Vision S-derived SUV is now widely seen as a strong contender.

The cabin seen on test vehicles features a semi-digital instrument cluster with a colour MID, straightforward switchgear and grab handles for rear passengers. One of the most eye-catching features visible in the test mule is a large panoramic sunroof. Powertrain details remain under wraps but signs point to a multi-engine strategy borrowed from XUV 3XO.

An automatic gearbox was also seen in a latest test vehicle and instrument readouts suggested diesel power could also be evaluated. Mahindra has already confirmed that petrol and hybrid options are also in the pipeline but we will have to wait and see whether this model gets it or not.

2025 Renault Kiger facelift (1)

Renault provides total savings of up to Rs. 73,500 while the scrappage bonus of Rs. 25,000 is also available in February 2026

Renault India has brought in discount schemes for the Kwid, Triber and Kiger this month. Depending on the model and variant, total savings go as high as Rs. 73,500. Starting with the Renault Kwid, the maximum benefits are available on higher trims such as the Climber. Buyers can avail a cash discount of up to Rs. 20,000 along with an exchange bonus of Rs. 15,000 and a loyalty bonus of Rs. 10,000.

The individual discounts add up to a total direct benefit to Rs. 45,000. Customers scrapping an old vehicle can alternatively opt for a Rs. 25,000 scrappage incentive instead of the exchange bonus. Meanwhile, non-CNG variants also receive a free 3-year AMC package -further reducing service expenses during early ownership.

The Renault Kwid RXT variant offers slightly lower benefits with combined cash, exchange and loyalty advantages adding up to Rs. 35,000 while entry-level trims are limited to loyalty or scrappage benefits. Moving to the Renault Triber – the brand’s compact three-row offering – receives discounts of up to Rs. 55,000 on selected Techno and Emotion variants.

The AMT variants also qualify for similar savings and non-CNG trims once again get a complimentary 3-year AMC.

The Renault Kiger sees the highest discounts in February 2026 – particularly on turbocharged variants. The Turbo CVT trim gets cash benefits of up to Rs. 48,500 along with a Rs. 15,000 exchange bonus and Rs. 10,000 loyalty benefit – taking the total savings to Rs. 73,500. All-New Tata Sierra EV Takes Shape – Everything We Know So Far

GaadiWaadi -

Tata-Sierra-Electric-EV-Teased.jpg

Tata Sierra EV will be launched in India within the next 3-6 months and will be available with two battery options

Tata Motors’ electric offensive is beginning to crystallise and one of the most anticipated names in that lineup is the Sierra EV for 2026. Spotted repeatedly during road tests and even teased officially, the electric SUV is edging closer to production and it will arrive following the scheduled launch of the Punch EV facelift on February 20, 2026.

It will sit above the Curvv EV in Tata’s portfolio appealing to buyers looking for a more upmarket midsize electric SUV. Sharing its electrical architecture with the Harrier EV, it will feature two battery configurations. The larger pack is projected to deliver a real world driving range north of 500 km. Fast charging support will be part of the package while vehicle-to-load and bi-directional charging functionality are also expected to be offered.

The interior is where the Sierra EV will attempt to differentiate itself most clearly. Tata is preparing a highly digital cabin layout centred around a three-screen setup – a fully digital driver’s display, a large central infotainment unit and a dedicated passenger-side screen. Feature density is expected to be high even from lower trims while top variants could introduce Level 2 ADAS, connected car tech, dual-zone climate control, powered seats, ambient lighting and so on.

Material quality and overall fit-finish are also likely to see a noticeable step up. On the outside, the Tata Sierra EV combines nostalgia with modern EV cues rather than going fully futuristic. While the tall stance and squared-off proportions remain faithful to the Sierra identity, the electric version will get a blanked-off grille, a full-width LED DRL strip and split headlamp clusters.

Revised bumpers with darker inserts, pronounced wheel arches, flush door handles and newly designed alloy wheels add muscle to the profile while the rear is expected to feature a connected LED light bar. Tata has already confirmed that three electric models will arrive in 2026 including the Punch EV facelift and the first production model based on the Avinya concept.

MG Majestor SUV To Get 3 Off-Road Modes, 19-Inch Wheels & More

GaadiWaadi -

MG-Majestor-Teased-Off-Road-Modes-1.jpg

MG Majestor will go on sale on February 12 in India and it will be packed with features and technologies to go up against Toyota Fortuner and the likes

MG Motor India is looking to make its boldest move yet in the premium SUV space with the Majestor – a new full-size model that will sit above the Gloster and announce the brand’s entry into a higher D+ SUV category. Slated for its official launch on February 12, 2026, the Majestor will be positioned as a direct challenger to the Toyota Fortuner – both in terms of size and capability.

At the heart of the Majestor will be MG’s 2.0-litre four-cylinder twin turbo diesel engine – churning out 213 bhp and 478 Nm of torque. Power is expected to be channelled through an automatic gearbox with a selectable four-wheel-drive system to be offered to complement its go-anywhere intent although MG is yet to officially confirm the drivetrain layout.

MG has also begun teasing the Majestor’s off-road credentials – confirming dedicated terrain modes such as Rock, Sand and Snow. These will be paired with chunky 265/65 R19 Apollo Apterra HT tyres mounted on large 19-inch two-tone alloy wheels. Recent teasers also show the SUV tackling challenging terrain at Mount Japfu in Nagaland.

MG Majestor Teased Off-Road Modes

The Majestor is based on the global Maxus D90’s body-on-frame platform but gets a far more commanding visual presence than the Gloster. The SUV features a muscular grille with darker elements, split headlamp setup with sharp LED DRLs, upright proportions and extensive use of skid plates and cladding. The side profile is expected to emphasise its sheer size while the rear sports LED tail lamps, prominent Majestor badging and large exhaust outlets.

On the inside, the MG Majestor gains a large touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, connected car features, panoramic sunroof and a premium audio setup. The equipment list further comprises powered and ventilated seats, three-zone automatic climate control and a comprehensive safety package featuring Level 2 ADAS and a 360-degree camera system.

With expected pricing in the Rs. 40–45 lakh range, the MG Majestor may make a huge impact against the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq and soon-launching VW Tayron.

5 Upcoming Compact SUVs In 2026-27 In India – Hyundai To Renault

GaadiWaadi -

Hyundai Inster (2)

Here we have listed the five upcoming compact SUVs over the next couple of years from brands like Hyundai, Tata, Kia, Volkswagen and Renault

The compact SUV segment will witness plenty of action over the next two years as automakers like Hyundai, Tata, Kia, Volkswagen and Renault will bring in new offerings across ICE and electric categories and here we have brought you a rundown:

1. Renault Mini Duster:

Renault Duster (2)

Renault is lining up a new sub-four-metre SUV for India that will sit below the new-gen Duster. Internally referred to as the “mini Duster”, it is expected to move away from the rounded, crossover-like stance of the Kiger and instead adopt a more upright and squared-off profile inspired by the larger Duster with a tall nose, pronounced wheel arches and chunky body cladding. Power is expected to come from the well known 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine currently seen on the Kiger, paired with manual and CVT transmission options and it could launch as early as next year.

2. VW Compact SUV:

Volkswagen-Tera-2.jpg

Volkswagen is finally gearing up to enter the fiercely contested compact SUV segment in India with a new offering which is expected to break cover around the middle of 2027 based on the Kylaq. It will be based on the same MQB A0 IN architecture but will steer clear of being a straight rebadge, carrying its own visual lineage. It will be powered by a 1.0-litre TSI turbo petrol engine producing 114 bhp and 178 Nm.

3. Tata Punch EV Facelift:

Ahead of its official debut scheduled for February 20, 2026, Tata Motors has given us an early look at the Punch EV facelift by revealing its exterior design. The updated electric micro SUV gets a more upright face with a closed-off grille treatment that takes inspiration from the Harrier EV.

New Tata Punch EV

The front bumper has been reprofiled with a new scuff plate while the Nexon EV-style aero alloys and a new yellow shade paired with a contrasting black roof are other highlights.
Mechanically, the Punch EV facelift will continue with the existing 25 kWh and 35 kWh battery options but the interior will be loaded with more premium equipment and technologies.

4. Hyundai Compact Electric SUV:

Hyundai-Inster-1

Hyundai is pressing ahead with plans for a made-in-India compact electric SUV – internally known as HE1i with the market launch confirmed for 2027. Sitting in the sub-four-metre bracket, the new EV is expected to borrow its basic architecture and proportions from the global Inster concept while being heavily localised for Indian conditions. Two battery options are on the cards – a standard setup offering around 300-350 km of real-world range.

4. Kia Syros EV:

Kia-EV2-rear-quarter.jpg

Kia is also expected to enter the entry-level e-SUV race in the near future with the arrival of a Syros based model. It could take inspiration from concepts like the EV2 and expect two battery packs to be made available while the cabin will be brimmed with modern features.

2026 Tata Punch EV Facelift Breaks Cover, Launch On Feb 20

GaadiWaadi -

New Tata Punch EV

The 2026 Tata Punch EV facelift will come with significant styling updates and latest features while powered by the same battery pack options

Tata Motors has unveiled the 2026 Punch EV facelift ahead of the official launch on Feb 20 in the country. The all-electric version of the micro SUV will come with visual updates at the outside and minor interior enhancements while retaining the same powertrains. The 2026 Tata Punch EV facelift price will be higher than the ongoing model which is priced between Rs 9.99-14.44 lakh (ex-showroom) in the Indian market. The homegrown automaker had introduced the 2026 Punch ICE last month in India at a starting price of Rs 5.59 lakh (ex-showroom).

The 2026 Punch EV facelift comes with substantial exterior updates as it flaunts a closed-off front grille. However, the black-coloured strip connecting the headlamps has been axed from the new model. The scuff plate beneath the front bumper has also been restyled. The alloy wheels come with a new design as well, which is said to be inspired by the Nexon EV.

The 2026 Tata Punch EV will be rolled out in a new colour scheme which will be identical to the ‘Sunlit Yellow’ shade of the Harrier SUV. It comes with a black-finished roof. The updates at the rear profile are not revealed by the brand, but we expect it to borrow the connected LED tail-lamp cluster from the ICE-powered model, which was launched last month in India.

New Tata Punch EV

Inside the cabin, the updates are likely to be subtle. Reportedly, it will boast of the 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with the latest software. This unit will be sourced from the Nexon EV. The brand could also introduce upholstery in a new theme while the possibility of Level 2 ADAS tech making its way in the new iteration of the SUV cannot be ruled out either.

The 2026 Punch EV will retain most of the features from the ongoing model such as 360-degree camera, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless phone charger, connected car tech, ventilated front seats, auto-dimming IRVM and ambient lighting. The existing variant line-up is likely to continue with the same grades such as Smart, Smart Plus, Adventure and Empowered.

Speaking of powertrains options, the 2026 Tata Punch EV facelift will remain the same as the present model. The same 25 kWh and 35 kWh battery packs with range of 265 km and 365 km, respectively, on a full charge will continue to be offered. While the 25 kWh battery is connected to an electric motor with top power of 82 bhp and peak torque of 114 Nm, the 35 kWh battery comes with a more powerful electric motor of 121 bhp and 190 Nm.
