Hyundai Creta N Line_-10

The next-gen Hyundai Creta is expected to go on sale in 2027 and it could get a strong hybrid powertrain with improved fuel efficiency

The next-generation Hyundai Creta, likely arriving in 2027, might bring a strong hybrid powertrain to the table as one of its headline features. The SUV has held its place as a sales leader in the midsize segment for years keeping Hyundai well ahead of the competition. Early 2024 saw a comprehensive update to the current model and thanks to its multiple engine choices, Creta remains a first pick for many buyers.

Earlier this year, Hyundai expanded its appeal by adding an all-electric version of the Creta. As development for the new generation Venue accelerates toward a late-2025 launch, rumours about a new three-row premium SUV have also started to surface online. More importantly, attention has also turned toward Creta’s next chapter with the upcoming model internally codenamed SX3.

It will more likely receive a complete, ground-up redesign rather than just minor tweaks. Production for the new Creta could stay at the company’s Tamil Nadu facility which remains the heart of Hyundai’s local manufacturing operations. The Creta is already loaded with features and latest technologies and we can expect the interior to receive a major overhaul as well.

It could adapt a larger touchscreen infotainment system with in-car connected tech, a new digital instrument console, OTA updates, ventilated front seats, Level 2 ADAS, automatic climate control, panoramic sunroof and more. The overall proportions could slightly alter as well with improved practicality in mind while the surface trims and materials could become more upmarket.

The current selection of petrol, diesel and turbo petrol engines and their respective gearbox choices should carry over. A significant addition under the hood could be a strong hybrid petrol system enabling better fuel efficiency and it could boost performance slightly as well. The aforementioned three-row premium SUV is said to be slotted between the Alcazar and Tucson.

While exact specifications are still under wraps, initial reports indicate that it will also offer a strong hybrid option – similar to what’s expected for the next Creta and the new Kia Seltos. All three models might share a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with an electric motor, drawing energy from a sizeable battery unit.

Mahindra-Thar.e-Concept.jpg

Mahindra has been testing the updated version of the 3-door Thar while the near-production Thar EV could be showcased under the Vision.T concept name

The 3-door Mahindra Thar is currently undergoing extensive road trials with camouflaged test mules spotted across various locations. The prototypes have revealed several upgrades that closely mirror enhancements found in the popular five-door Thar Roxx. The interior receives significant attention with a prominent 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system taking centre stage on the dashboard.

A redesigned steering wheel complements the modern cabin while power window switches have been relocated from the centre console to door panels for improved ergonomics. The gear lever area has been completely reworked with strong indications pointing toward the inclusion of a wireless charging pad.

The visual enhancements on the exterior include a comprehensively redesigned front bumper and reworked fog lamp housings that give the SUV a fresher appearance. The grille design receives subtle modifications while C-shaped LED elements appear to be available as well. It will also receive new alloy wheels but the SUV will retain its dimensions and mechanical underpinnings without any powertrain modifications.

Mahindra has teased the Vision.T concept which is scheduled for its grand reveal in Mumbai on August 15, 2025. The electric prototype appears to carry forward the distinctive boxy silhouette seen in the Thar.e concept that debuted approximately two years ago. The original Thar.e concept was built upon Mahindra’s specialised INGLO P1 platform.

The architecture enables longer wheelbases and enhanced ground clearance compared to conventional electric crossovers – setting it apart from mainstream EV offerings. While many global manufacturers maintain traditional body-on-frame construction for their rugged electric models, Mahindra may pursue an alternative engineering approach for their final production version.

15+ Upcoming Tata Cars You Should Know About – New Details

Tata Curvv Concept

Tata is working behind the scenes to launch as many as 30 new models over the next five years in India across different segments

Tata Motors is pushing ahead with a comprehensive reshaping of its passenger vehicle lineup. The strategy encapsulates a series of refreshed versions with all-new models aiming for 30 new rollouts before the decade concludes. Of these, seven will debut with entirely new nameplates – marking a substantial product offensive beyond facelifts and updates.

The brand plans to almost double the number of models in its passenger vehicle range – balancing internal combustion and electric options. With production of the Harrier EV now in motion and the refreshed Altroz already on sale, the next set of launches is expected to gather pace soon. Among them, the Sierra nameplate is slated to return before the ongoing financial year wraps up.

Breaking away from the legacy of its predecessor, the upcoming Sierra will be offered with both electric and internal combustion powertrains. Tata is expected to launch the EV variant first followed by the petrol-powered version in the early stretch of the next financial year. The company has earmarked an investment of nearly Rs 35,000 crore to bring up new vehicles.

Meanwhile, internal discussions are believed to be progressing around possible hybrid additions. The mid-cycle updates are reportedly on the cards for both the Tiago and Tigor as well. Within the present range, the internal combustion Punch remains one of the few models yet to undergo a substantial update – hinting that a refresh could be in the pipeline.

Tata is gearing up to offer a petrol engine alternative for the Harrier and Safari before the current financial year concludes. The new 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol unit is expected to deliver 168 PS and 280 N, breaking the long-running diesel-only pattern in both models. This new motor is also set to feature in the upcoming Sierra. The all-new Scarlet compact SUV deserves a mention too.

1. 3-Door Mahindra Thar Facelift:

The camouflaged three-door Mahindra Thar has resurfaced on test runs indicating that its mid-cycle update is progressing steadily. Visual cues hint at a design evolution inspired by the Thar Roxx. Expected changes span the front and rear bumpers, revised lighting elements and new alloy wheels. Interior revisions are also on the cards and it will become more premium.

2. Mahindra XUV 700 Facelift:

Test prototypes of the refreshed XUV700 have been spotted on several occasions in recent months. Expected to hit the market sometime in early 2026, the mid-cycle update will ensure changes to the bumpers, lights and wheels. Signature elements like the flush-mounted door handles will stay but new alloy design and additional colour options are likely on the cards. While overall dimensions will remain unchanged, the cabin is tipped to gain upgraded upholstery, a new material palette and most notably, a revised dashboard that could house a triple-screen layout.

3. Mahindra XEV 7e:

Mahindra-XEV-7e-XUV-700-EV.jpgThe all-electric derivative of the XUV700, previewed earlier as the XUV.e8 concept, is inching closer to launch. Test mules have revealed familiar proportions and design cues borrowed from its ICE sibling, though distinctive EV-specific details such as a closed-off grille and different lighting signatures are visible. Built on Mahindra’s new INGLO platform, the XUV.e8 is expected to feature a high-voltage battery architecture and fast charging capability. A market debut is likely before the end of 2025 or in early 2026.

5 New Tata Compact SUVs You Should Wait For – ICE & EVs

tata sierra

Here we have explained about all the new compact SUVs from Tata over the next 2-3 years in India

Tata Motors is working on a comprehensive overhaul of its passenger vehicle portfolio with new entries as updates to existing models and brand new offerings are in the pipeline. Close to 30 launches are being readied between now and the end of the decade. Among these, seven models will be completely new nameplates.

A significant portion of this effort will be concentrated on the compact SUV space where four new additions are currently in the works. Here is a breakdown of what to expect in that segment:

1. Tata Scarlet:

Sierra EV Concept

Tata is reportedly working on a compact SUV that borrows its visual cues from the Sierra. Believed to be called the Scarlet, the model is expected to adopt a boxy silhouette and upright stance similar to the Sierra though with smaller overall dimensions. It is likely to sit on the same architecture as the combustion-engined Curvv. Petrol and diesel powertrains are on the table while an electric version remains a possibility.

2&3. Next-Gen Tata Nexon & New Nexon EV:

2023 tata nexon ev facelift-36Internally codenamed Garud, Tata Motors is believed to be developing the third-gen Nexon as part of its next set of product updates. The upcoming model is expected to ride on a heavily updated version of the current X1 platform. Changes are likely to extend beyond structure with both exterior styling and cabin layout set to be comprehensively redesigned. Feature enhancements are also on the cards with additions such as a panoramic sunroof and a Level 2 ADAS suite potentially making their way into the mix. The updated version of the Nexon EV will also arrive down the line.

4&5. Tata Punch & Punch EV Facelifts:

Tata appears to be advancing development on the updated Punch range with the internal combustion variant already seen on test. The camouflaged prototypes suggest a round of mid-cycle updates – likely to involve changes to styling and equipment. Many of the new features could be borrowed from the Punch EV.

tata punch faceliftThe petrol-powered Punch could retain the familiar 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine. The updated Punch EV, on the other hand, may adopt several features already seen on the Nexon EV. A larger battery pack and improvements in range are also expected as part of the electric variant’s mid-life upgrade.
