Tata is working behind the scenes to launch as many as 30 new models over the next five years in India across different segments

Tata Motors is pushing ahead with a comprehensive reshaping of its passenger vehicle lineup. The strategy encapsulates a series of refreshed versions with all-new models aiming for 30 new rollouts before the decade concludes. Of these, seven will debut with entirely new nameplates – marking a substantial product offensive beyond facelifts and updates.

The brand plans to almost double the number of models in its passenger vehicle range – balancing internal combustion and electric options. With production of the Harrier EV now in motion and the refreshed Altroz already on sale, the next set of launches is expected to gather pace soon. Among them, the Sierra nameplate is slated to return before the ongoing financial year wraps up.

Breaking away from the legacy of its predecessor, the upcoming Sierra will be offered with both electric and internal combustion powertrains. Tata is expected to launch the EV variant first followed by the petrol-powered version in the early stretch of the next financial year. The company has earmarked an investment of nearly Rs 35,000 crore to bring up new vehicles.

Meanwhile, internal discussions are believed to be progressing around possible hybrid additions. The mid-cycle updates are reportedly on the cards for both the Tiago and Tigor as well. Within the present range, the internal combustion Punch remains one of the few models yet to undergo a substantial update – hinting that a refresh could be in the pipeline.

Tata is gearing up to offer a petrol engine alternative for the Harrier and Safari before the current financial year concludes. The new 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol unit is expected to deliver 168 PS and 280 N, breaking the long-running diesel-only pattern in both models. This new motor is also set to feature in the upcoming Sierra. The all-new Scarlet compact SUV deserves a mention too.

Alongside the facelifted Punch with an internal combustion setup, its electric iteration may as well get updates. As for the Nexon, groundwork for the next-generation model is reportedly already underway though its arrival remains some distance away. Moving up the premium portfolio, Tata’s Avinya series continues to take shape with the lineup expected to arrive in a couple of years with coupe bodystyle and crossover spaces being targetted.
