GaadiWaadi -

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ (5)

Launching around the festive season of 2028, the Land Cruiser FJ will come with strong hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains while no diesel engine will be offered

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ had its world premiere last week in the brand’s home country Japan. It is also being exhibited at the company’s booth at the ongoing 2025 Japan Mobility Show. Now, our friends at AutoCar India report that the Land Cruiser FJ will be launched in India during the festive season of 2028, which is exactly three years away from now. Though Toyota had stated that the deliveries of the new SUV will start by mid 2026 in Japan, the public in India will have to wait a little longer to get their hands on the Land Cruiser FJ.

The ‘FJ’ in Land Cruiser stands for Freedom and Joy as the SUV is built on the same IMV architecture as the Fortuner and Hilux. Measuring slightly over 4.5 metres in length, the new FJ borrows the boxy silhouette and upright stance from its larger sibling, the Land Cruiser Prado. The Autocar report further adds that the India-spec model of the SUV will be introduced with strong hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrain options while there will be no diesel engine on offer.

Having a width, height and wheelbase of 1,855 mm, 1,960 mm and 2,580 mm, it comes in a two-row seating configuration to accommodate five adults. The SUV is claimed to be a highly capable off-roader vehicle despite the smaller size. The ground clearance is pegged at 215 mm while the turning radius stands at 5.5 metres. The Land Cruiser FJ is equipped with braces under the floor.

A few notable design highlights include removable heavy bumpers, side cladding, C-shaped lights, and external spare wheel at the rear. The SUV can also be had with round headlamps which are inspired by previous-gen models of the Land Cruiser. It is introduced with Toyota Safety Sense which offers advanced safety features including the Pre-collision Safety System.

Talking about the cabin, it resembles the Land Cruiser Prado with circular AC vents, massive grab handles, physical buttons and switches. The centre console houses the 12.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The digital instrument cluster appears to be quite ordinary while the material used in the upholstery, seats and dashboard look rather hard-wearing than premium.

Under the bonnet, the Land Cruiser FJ packs a 2.7L 4-cylinder petrol engine which generates max power of 161 bhp and peak torque of 246 Nm. The engine is linked to a 6-speed automatic gearbox which transmits the power to all the four wheels via a part-time four-wheel drive (4WD) system. It will be the entry-level model in the Land Cruiser line-up.

The Land Cruiser FJ will be at loggerheads with Mahindra Thar Roxx, Force Gurkha, and Maruti Suzuki Jimny in the Indian market. It could be positioned between the Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Fortuner in the domestic market with prices starting around Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).

BMW F 450 GS_-2

BMW F 450 GS will be equipped with a new 450 cc parallel-twin engine, developed jointly by BMW and TVS Motor Company

BMW Motorrad is preparing to pull the wraps off its newest middleweight adventure tourer, the F 450 GS, at the upcoming EICMA show in Milan. Serving as the smallest member of the GS family, this new motorcycle will look to lure in riders seeking a lighter, more approachable adv that still carries BMW’s trademark long-haul comfort and build quality.

Ahead of its world debut soon, here are the five key highlights that make this motorcycle one of the most anticipated launches of the year and it will arrive at Indian shores in 2026:

1. Official Debut at EICMA 2025

BMW has confirmed through a teaser on social media that the production-spec F 450 GS will make its global premiere at the EICMA show in early November. The brief clip shows off parts of the fuel tank, new GS-style graphics and a slimmer body design hinting at a more agile stance. The motorcycle has been undergoing extensive testing across multiple markets.

2. First Seen in India as a Concept

Indian enthusiasts were among the first to see this motorcycle in the flesh when BMW showcased the F 450 GS Concept at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 earlier this year. The prototype hinted at the brand’s plan to strengthen its presence in the 400–500 cc adventure bike category. Later spy shots of test units confirmed that the production model would retain much of the concept’s styling and stance, complete with the iconic beak and asymmetrical headlamp design synonymous with the GS badge.

3. New Twin-Cylinder Engine Developed With TVS

At the heart of the new F 450 GS lies a new 450 cc parallel-twin engine, developed jointly by BMW and TVS Motor Company. This liquid-cooled, DOHC unit is expected to produce about 48 bhp, making it among the most powerful motorcycles in its segment. BMW is targeting smooth throttle response and a broad torque band, ideal for both trail riding and long distance touring. There’s also talk of a semi-automatic transmission being offered alongside the six-speed manual unit.

4. New Frame and Touring Setup

The motorcycle will sit on an all-new lightweight trellis frame. The suspension setup will feature upside-down forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear, both are expected to be fully adjustable. It must be noted that the new BMW F 450 GS won’t be a hardcore off-roader due to its 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheel setup.

5. Feature Rich

As expected from BMW’s GS lineup, the F 450 GS will come loaded with advanced electronics and premium kit. The list includes full-LED lighting, a 6.5-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity, multiple riding modes, cornering ABS and traction control. All these features were previewed on the concept bike and are likely to make it unchanged to the final version.

The BMW F 450 GS is likely to reach Indian showrooms sometime in 2026 with an estimated price tag of around Rs. 5.5 lakh to 6 lakh (ex-showroom). When it arrives, it will compete against the Honda NX500, upcoming Kawasaki KLE500, Brixton Storr 500, CFMoto 450 MT, etc.

The Chinese EV powerhouse arrived in Tokyo with two major unveilings, the Racco K-EV and the Sealion 6 DM-i, both developed specifically for Japan. The star of the stand was the Racco, a compact all-electric K-EV which combines BYD’s global EV expertise with Japan’s kei car philosophy.

Sharing the spotlight was the Sealion 6 DM-i, the company’s first plug-in hybrid for Japan, forming part of a broader “EV + PHEV” strategy. The stand featured the Racco and Sealion 6 DM-i alongside models like the Atto 3, Dolphin, Seal and the wild Yangwang U9 supercar from BYD’s luxury brand. Since its entry into Japan in 2022, BYD has built a strong base with models such as the Atto 3 and Dolphin gaining steady traction. 2 Big SUV Launches Waiting To Happen In November 2025 In India

GaadiWaadi -

Sierra SUV

Hyundai will introduce its new generation Venue next week while Tata is planning to bring in the new Sierra on November 25

The month of November 2025 is shaping up to be quite eventful for SUV enthusiasts in India. Two of the most anticipated launches – Hyundai’s new-gen Venue and Tata’s reborn Sierra – are ready to make their way into showrooms. Hyundai’s compact SUV is scheduled for its official reveal on November 4 whereas Tata Motors will roll out the Sierra on November 25.

Interestingly, Tata’s approach looks to have shifted from its earlier plan. Instead of debuting the electric Sierra first, the brand will introduce the petrol and diesel versions ahead of the EV. The zero-emission iteration will follow later and is expected to offer two battery configurations with a range of over 500 km on a single charge – a setup that could share several components with the Harrier EV.

For the ICE Sierra, Tata may bring in three versions of its 1.5-litre engine – a naturally aspirated petrol, a turbocharged TGDi petrol and a diesel. The new TGDi unit is rumoured to produce around 168 PS and 280 Nm and might eventually make its way into the Harrier and Safari lineups. Buyers can expect both six-speed manual and six-speed torque converter automatic transmissions as part of the drivetrain options.

To likely be priced between Rs 11 lakh and Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom), the Sierra will take aim at heavyweights like the Hyundai Creta. In terms of design, it gets curved rear windows, chunky wheel arches and upright stance which is a nod to the original icon while modern finishes like split LED headlamps, connected LED bars, 19-inch alloy wheels, etc will be offered.

On the inside, the SUV will host a triple screen layout – individual displays for the driver, infotainment and front passenger. The dashboard adopts a dual-tone finish complemented by a four-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo. Other highlights include a Harman sound system, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, powered driver’s seat, and so on.

New Hyundai Venue (7)

Meanwhile, bookings for Hyundai’s new Venue have commenced online and through dealerships. It is larger than before – 48 mm taller, 30 mm wider and with a 20 mm longer wheelbase. The new model features a dark chrome grille flanked by quad-beam LEDs and a continuous horizon light bar up front while a full-width LED strip and reshaped bumpers highlight the rear.

The interior now follows Hyundai’s latest H-theme design philosophy featuring terrazzo-like textures and a dual-tone Dark Navy and Dove Grey colour scheme. The headline feature is the twin 12.3-inch panoramic curved displays running Hyundai’s NVIDIA-powered connected car system. With over 70 connected features, 400+ voice commands across five Indian languages, an 8-speaker Bose setup, and OTA updates for 20 control units, the Venue’s tech arsenal is almost unmatched in its class.
