One of the next big launches from Nissan in India in 2026 is the Tekton which will take on Hyundai Creta and the likes in the midsize SUV segment
Nissan is looking to make a strong comeback in India’s highly competitive midsize SUV segment with the all-new Tekton which is slated for launch in early 2026. Sharing its platform with the next-gen Renault Duster, the Tekton will be produced at the Renault-Nissan Alliance plant in Chennai. Here are the top five things you should know about the upcoming SUV.
1. Based on the CMF-B Platform
The Nissan Tekton will be underpinned by the CMF-B platform, the same architecture that will also spawn the next-gen Renault Duster which will debut on January 26, 2026. The architecture has been heavily localised for India while retaining global safety and engineering standards. The shared platform will also pave the way for multiple body styles in the future including a seven-seater SUV that’s planned for FY2027.
2. Inspired by Patrol
The Tekton’s design draws heavy inspiration from the legendary Nissan Patrol, featuring an upright stance and muscular proportions. Up front, it gets a sculpted bonnet, C-shaped LED headlamps and an aggressive bumper. The side profile shows “Double-C” motif on the doors while the rear comes with a full-width LED light bar and a large “Tekton” inscription on the tailgate.

3. Premium Cabin & Feature Rich
While Nissan has yet to reveal the full interior, expectations point toward an upmarket cabin. The SUV is expected to feature a large touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, soft-touch materials and advanced driver assistance systems. Other highlights could include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, wireless charging, automatic climate control, six airbags and a powered driver seat.
4. Petrol and Hybrid Powertrains
The Tekton is expected to debut with turbo petrol engine options initially, both paired with manual and automatic transmissions. A strong-hybrid variant could follow later. Some higher trims may also offer all-wheel drive but it has not been confirmed yet.
