Toyota Land Cruiser FJ 4×4 To Likely Arrive In 2028 – All Key Details

GaadiWaadi -

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ (5)

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ will likely be slotted below the Fortuner in the brand’s lineup, based on the IMV 0 architecture

The Toyota Land Cruiser FJ will be one of the most significant launches from Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) in years, adding a brand-new locally manufactured original Toyota product to the line-up. However, even though it will be made in India, it is likely to be an expensive product priced at a high premium.

Featuring a body-on-frame structure and measuring 4,610 mm in length, 1,855 mm in width, and 1,890 mm in height, the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ could put in the same category as the Mahindra Scorpio-N. It’s a much more compact vehicle on the inside, though, with a short wheelbase spanning 2,580 mm.

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ is expected to cost around Rs. 30 lakh (ex-showroom) in the base trim. The top configuration could easily touch Rs. 40 lakh (ex-showroom), with reports stating TKM is planning not only an ICE variant but also full-hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants.

For now, Toyota has engineered the Land Cruiser FJ with only the 2TR-FE 2.7-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine, tuned to produce 164 hp and 245 Nm of torque. A 6-speed automatic transmission and a part-time 4WD system send drive to the wheels. There are rumours that Toyota plans to introduce an upgraded version of the 1GD-FTV 2.8-litre turbodiesel engine sometime in 2029.

On the outside, the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ features LED headlamps, LED front and rear fog lamps, 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 265/60 R18 tyres, part-LED tail lamps, and a side-hinged tailgate with a centre-mounted spare wheel. Toyota does not offer a sunroof in the Land Cruiser FJ, although hardcore off-road enthusiasts, the model’s core target audience, are unlikely to view that as a drawback.

A semi-digital instrument cluster with a 7-inch driver information display, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a dual-zone automatic climate control system are some of the key interior features of the Land Cruiser FJ. Seven airbags, Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert, Pre-Collision System, and a 360º camera system are some of the main safety features.

Tata Motors To Launch Flex Fuel Car By Early 2027

GaadiWaadi -

Tata Flex Fuel (1)

Tata Motors’ first car with a flex-fuel engine could be an entry-level model aimed at spurring mass adoption of the new technology

Expanding the range of its clean-energy powertrain options beyond electric and CNG, Tata Motors is planning to introduce a flex-fuel option in India. The company will be ready with its first flex-fuel car within a year.

During Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles’ Q4 FY2026 earnings conference call on 14 May, MD and CEO Shailesh Chandra revealed that the company is in advanced stages of commercialising flex-fuel technology. “We are very comfortable in terms of technology readiness”, Chandra said.

Further into the call, Chandra said that Tata Motors should be ready with its first flex-fuel car also by the end of 2026 or early 2027. He did not reveal which model would be the first to get a flex-fuel engine, but according to an earlier developments point at the Punch, already available in petrol, petrol-CNG, and electric variants.

Tata Flex Fuel

In January 2025, Mohan Savarkar, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles’ Chief Product Officer and Vice President, told Autocar India that the timeline for commercialising the first flex-fuel engine will depend on the government’s readiness for E85 fuel rollout, but when that happens, the Punch would be the first product to receive it. Savarkar was speaking on the sidelines of Auto Expo 2025, where Tata Motors introduced a prototype of the Punch with a flex-fuel engine.

The Tata Punch Flex Fuel showcased at Auto Expo 2025 featured a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated three-cylinder engine compliant with E20-E85 ethanol fuel blends. Tata Motors had modified the fuel-injection system and the ECU, added an exhaust after-treatment system, and applied a software-based ethanol percentage detection system to modify the Punch into this flex-fuel prototype.

On 27 April, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) issued a draft proposing amendments to the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, to cover E85 and E100 ethanol fuel blends. It is seeking opinions and suggestions from the public, but has yet to announce when it will decide on this move.

In addition to Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki and Toyota Kirloskar Motor have shown interest in introducing flex-fuel cars. With the ongoing energy crisis and the falling rupee value, the commercialisation of higher-blend ethanol fuels could be fast-tracked, pushing these companies to launch their flex-fuel cars soon.

TVS Record Highest Ever Sales Of 59 Lakh Units In FY26

GaadiWaadi -

tvs orbiter

Sales of 3.71 lakh electric units last FY show a 33 per cent improvement over the 2.79 lakh units posted in FY25 for TVS

Last mile mobility was a definitive hero in TVS Motor Company’s FY2026 results. The three-wheeler business nearly doubled its pace clocking 63 per cent growth to finish the year at 2.19 lakh units – a number that would have seemed ambitious even two years ago. It sits within a much larger outlook of a company that has grown across every category it operates in.

The annual revenue crossed Rs 47,270 crore for the first time in TVS’s history – moving 30 per cent ahead of the Rs 36,251 crore posted in FY25 and nearly 59 lakh two and three-wheelers left TVS showrooms through the year – up from 47.44 lakh units in FY25 with the growth spread across motorcycles, scooters and electric vehicles.

The motorcycle sales accounted for 27.13 lakh of those units – 24 per cent more than the 21.95 lakh sold during the same period the previous fiscal while scooters moved even faster – growing 27 per cent to 24.13 lakh units from 19.04 lakh the year before. The Apache range has played a significant role in posting impressive numbers.

Meanwhile, offerings such as the Raider 125 and Radeon have been well received by customers. As for scooters, the Jupiter and Ntorq range have led the way. The EV business has been building steadily and FY2026 proved to be a game changer. Sales of 3.71 lakh electric units endure a 33 per cent improvement over the 2.79 lakh units posted in FY25.

The cumulative ownership base for the brand now stands at over 9 lakh customers courtesy of the iQube series – the best-selling electric vehicle in the country – and the Orbiter. Profitability held up well through this expansion as operating EBITDA margin for the year came in at 12.9 per cent, 60 basis points better than FY25 while operating PBT climbed 40 per cent to Rs 4,975 crore from Rs 3,563 crore previously.

TVS IQube S 4.7 kWh

The January to March 2026 quarterly revenue hit Rs 12,808 crore – a peak the company has never touched before. Operating EBITDA margin for the quarter was 13.1 per cent compared to a normalised 12.5 per cent in the same period of FY25. The volume performance was equally good – 15.60 lakh units across two and three-wheelers, 28 per cent ahead of the 12.16 lakh units in Q4 FY25.

Within this, motorcycles added 23 per cent to reach 6.93 lakh units, scooters grew 32 per cent to 6.60 lakh units and three-wheelers surged 65 per cent to 0.60 lakh units. In addition, EV sales in Q4 alone jumped 51 per cent to 1.15 lakh units. Buoyed by the reception, the Hosur-based manufacturer is planning to invest over Rs. 3,500 crore to ramp up its production this FY.

2026 Honda City Facelift Spied Undisguised – New Design Details

2026 Honda City Facelift

The updated Honda City has been spotted undisguised in India ahead of its expected launch later this month, revealing key exterior changes, particularly at the front. The latest sighting provides a clearer look at the design direction Honda is taking with the 2026 facelift.

The revised model adopts elements from Honda’s newer global design language, seen on international offerings such as the Honda Accord and Honda Prelude. Compared to the current version, the facelifted City appears to have a more upright stance and a cleaner overall look, while retaining its familiar silhouette.

The most noticeable updates are concentrated at the front. The sedan gets redesigned LED headlamps with integrated daytime running lights, along with a revised grille that now features a layered, horizontal mesh-like pattern. The grille stretches more seamlessly between the headlamps, visually widening the car’s stance. Additional changes include a new Honda badge placement on the bonnet and a reworked lower bumper with sharper inserts and a cleaner air intake design.

While earlier test vehicles were heavily camouflaged, this undisguised unit indicates that the update is evolutionary rather than a complete overhaul. The side profile remains largely unchanged, although new alloy wheel designs are expected on higher trims. At the rear, minor updates to the tail-lamps and bumper are likely.

Inside the cabin, major structural changes are not anticipated, especially with a new-generation City expected around 2028. However, Honda may introduce select feature upgrades to keep the model competitive. These could include a 360-degree camera, updates to the infotainment system and enhancements to connected car functionality.

Safety features are expected to remain consistent with the current model, which already offers a comprehensive package including six airbags, vehicle stability assist, hill start assist and a tyre pressure monitoring system. The sedan also comes equipped with the Honda SENSING suite, which includes advanced driver assistance features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, collision mitigation braking and automatic high beam assist.

Mechanically, the facelift is likely to continue with the existing 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, producing 121 PS and 145 Nm of torque. Transmission options are expected to remain unchanged, with a choice between a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic.

Overall, the update appears to focus on design refinement and incremental feature additions rather than significant mechanical changes, helping the City maintain its position in the mid-size sedan segment.

Honda Compact SUV Confirmed For India, To Be Priced Under Rs. 10 Lakh?

GaadiWaadi -

Honda's New cars (1)

Under serious pressure from fierce competition in other global markets, Honda to strengthen efforts in India with new strategic models

Since the discontinuation of the Jazz and WR-V in 2023, Honda has not had a single product in India’s so-called ‘sub-4 metre’ segment, which is the biggest in terms of sales volume. The Japanese automaker today confirmed plans to re-enter this segment with an SUV as early as 2028.

At its FY2026 financial results conference on Thursday, Toshihiro Mibe, Honda’s Director, President, and Representative Executive Officer, said that the company will change its product development approach in India. The Japanese automaker will increase its focus on factors like climate conditions, vehicle usage, customer preferences, and government policies moving forward.

“In 2028, we will begin introducing strategic models tailored to the Indian market, seeking optimal balance of performance and price to satisfy customers in India,” Mibe said at the conference. Speaking further, he revealed a plan to make a comeback in the sub-4 metre segment. “More specifically, we’ll launch our strategic models in two categories: vehicles under 4 metres in length, the largest volume segment, and mid-size category,” Mibe said at the conference”, Mibe said.

Honda's New cars

Unlike the WR-V, the new sub-4 metre SUV from Honda should have a proper SUV character. Like the Elevate, it should feature upright front and rear fascias and have a high ground clearance. This would allow Honda to distinguish its offering from popular models such as the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, and Kia Sonet. The upcoming Renault Bridger and Mahindra Vision.S concept’s production version could be its more direct rivals.

Honda could offer its sub-4 metre SUV with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine and also a CNG variant of the same. This would allow the company to make its product appealing to a wider band of customers, especially in Delhi, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana. Availability of a hybrid variant, at least initially, seems unlikely.

Before the sub-4 metre SUV, Honda will launch four new premium cars in India. On 22 May, the company will roll out a second facelift for the fifth-generation City and launch the ZR-V as well. The latter, globally positioned below the CR-V, will be a CBU import from Japan. In the second half of the year, the company will introduce a facelift for the Elevate and launch the Prelude, which will also be a CBU import from Japan. In Q1 2027, Honda plans to launch a locally manufactured electric mid-size SUV derived from the 0 α concept.

TVS To Pump Rs. 3,500 Crore Into Expansion, EV Growth & New Products

GaadiWaadi -

TVS has committed Rs 3,500 crore investment on the back of good reception for its Apache and iQube range as production will be substantially scaled up

Norton Motorcycles is finally getting the push it has been waiting for. TVS Motor Company is preparing to accelerate the British brand’s development as part of a Rs 3,500 crore investment plan for FY27 – an aggressive annual capital deployment in recent memory. Several new Norton motorcycles are currently under development with select models expected to be manufactured at TVS’s Hosur facility in India while engineering and certain production activities continue from the Solihull plant in the UK.

The Norton plans sit within a much larger strategic offensive. Of the Rs 3,500 crore earmarked for FY27, approximately Rs 2,000 crore will go toward new product development and advanced engineering programmes while over Rs 1,000 crore is directed at manufacturing infrastructure and capacity expansion. The remaining investment will help consolidate R&D facilities, testing operations and technological capabilities across the organisation.

As for production, TVS intends to add nearly 1.5 million units of annual manufacturing capacity over the next 12 months – taking total installed capacity to approximately 8.3 million units per year. The headroom is needed as the company crossed global annual sales of 5.9 million units recently and with both domestic and export demand holding up, the gap between current capacity and future ambition needs to be closed quickly.

The iQube has been central to TVS’s success and continues to gain ground in the domestic market. Monthly EV production has already reached around 40,000 units and the company is targeting a push toward 50,000 units per month as demand strengthens. In April 2026, TVS sold 37,661 electric 2Ws for the month with a 96 per cent year-on-year surge that gave it a 25 per cent share of the electric two-wheeler market and the top position in the segment.

The financial results backing this expansion are equally strong. FY26 consolidated revenue reached Rs 47,270 crore while net profit rose to Rs 3,615 crore. The January to March 2026 quarter saw consolidated profit jump 19 per cent to Rs 771.52 crore – a quarterly print that gives TVS the earnings foundation to fund the scale of investment it is now committing to.

Geopolitical tensions in West Asia have created shipping disruptions that have exerted influence on logistics costs and delivery timelines across Africa, Latin America and Asia. Despite that TVS management has noted that underlying demand in export markets remains stable. Meanwhile, increasing commodity costs are a huge risk on the horizon as well.

Wuling Starlight 560, the China-spec full-size SUV, has been spotted testing on the Indian roads. It was captured on camera near MG Motor India’s Halol production facility in Gujarat with temporary GJ 17 registration plates. For those asking, the British brand MG Motor is owned by the China based SAIC Motor and hence, in the near coming few months, we will see the Starlight 560 launching in India with MG branding. The cabin will be loaded with a plethora of bells and whistles in the form of all-digital instrument cluster, 180-degree reclining front seats, panoramic sunroof, leatherette upholstery, connected car tech with OTA updates, 360-degree camera and 2.8-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system.
