2026 BMW X6 India

BMW X6 is equipped with a 4.4-litre twin turbo V8 petrol mild-hybrid engine kicking out 523 hp maximum power and 750 Nm of peak torque

BMW India has opened pre-launch bookings for the new X6 M60i xDrive with the coupe SUV set to arrive as a completely built up import in the coming weeks. The X6 nameplate returns to India after facing the axe in early 2023 and this time it comes with a more powerful V8 powertrain and updated hardware throughout. Bookings can be placed at authorised BMW dealerships or through the official website.

The 4.4-litre twin turbo V8 petrol engine kicking out 523 hp and 750 Nm sits at the centre of what the X6 M60i is about. Designated the S68 unit, it works alongside a 48V mild hybrid system and pairs with an 8-speed automatic gearbox sending drive to all four wheels through the xDrive all wheel drive setup. BMW claims a 0 to 100 kmph time of 4.3 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph.

The rear wheel steering, an electronically controlled rear diff and M Sport brakes round out the performance hardware. At 4,960 mm long, 2,004 mm wide and 1,700 mm tall with a 2,975 mm wheelbase, the X6 M60i is a substantial vehicle. Ground clearance stands at 216 mm and boot space is rated at 580 litres.

The exterior follows the coupe SUV formula with a sloping roofline over SUV proportions – a gloss black kidney grille with vertical slats, slim LED headlamps with snake eye DRL signatures and large integrated air intakes define the front end. It rides on 21-inch alloy wheels with contrast red brake callipers, black finished wing mirrors and side skirts. Wraparound LED tail lamps and a gloss black bumper with twin exhaust outlets handle the rear end treatment.

On the inside, a curved dual screen setup comprising a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment display and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster are presented. A dual-zone automatic climate control system, steering wheel with mounted controls, a layered dashboard, ambient lighting, wireless charging, a panoramic sunroof, powered memory front seats with heated and ventilated function, a powered tailgate and an ADAS suite are all expected on mirroring the international model’s equipment list.

India-Spec Honda ZR-V Hybrid SUV Revealed, Deliveries To Begin In July 2026

GaadiWaadi -

honda-zr-v-india.jpg

Honda ZR-V Hybrid SUV is claimed to return a fuel economy of 22.80 kmpl and it has been made available in a total of four colour schemes

Called the ZR-V Hybrid, the new model has been revealed in India today as Honda’s flagship SUV and customer deliveries are scheduled to begin in July 2026. Honda has officially started accepting bookings for the SUV while the launch is expected in the coming weeks. Unlike the Elevate and City manufactured locally, the ZR-V arrives in India as a completely built up model.

Its volumes are expected to remain limited. Pricing is likely to place it in the Rs. 40 lakh to Rs. 50 lakh bracket putting it against products such as Volkswagen Tiguan, Skoda Kodiaq and Jeep Meridian. Visual bits like dual exhaust outlets, flush roof rails and a clean rear design without a connected light bar give the ZR-V a very different character compared to most modern crossovers.

Power comes from a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine paired with a dual motor strong hybrid setup. Combined output stands at 184 hp and 315 Nm while power is sent to the front wheels through an e CVT automatic transmission. Honda claims a 0 to 100 kmph sprint time of 8 seconds while the electronically restricted top speed stands at 172 kmph. The claimed fuel efficiency is rated at 22.80 kmpl.

honda-zr-v-india-1.jpg

Internationally, Honda also sells the ZR-V with a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine and an all wheel drive option but the India bound version has been confirmed only with the hybrid powertrain. The SUV measures 4,567 mm in length, 1,840 mm in width and 1,621 mm in height while the wheelbase stands at 2,655 mm. Boot space can expand up to 1,313 litres with the second row folded.

On the outside, sleek LED headlamps with L-shaped daytime running lights sit beside a black grille while the front bumper integrates air channels and gloss black lower sections. The side profile gets 18-inch alloy wheels along with black body cladding around the wheel arches and lower doors. The tail lamps feature a slim shape while roof mounted spoiler, rear washer and wiper are also part of the package.

Honda ZR-V

Honda has chosen a more driver focused layout with several physical switches and knobs retained instead of shifting every function into the touchscreen inside the cabin. The dashboard houses a 9-inch infotainment system compatible with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay along with a 10.25 inch digital instrument display.

Features include dual zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, wireless charging, powered front seats, powered tailgate and a 12 speaker Bose audio system. Both rows receive centre armrests while leatherette upholstery is also present. Safety equipment list comprises eight airbags, 360 degree camera, tyre pressure monitoring system and Level 2 ADAS functions.

2023 Honda ZR-V 1

Honda has also integrated physical drive selector buttons and an electronic parking brake into the centre console resulting in a cleaner cabin layout. The ZR-V now becomes the most premium SUV in Honda India lineup and also marks the company latest push into the higher end hybrid SUV category.

New India-Made Jeep SUV In Partnership With Tata Motors Coming

GaadiWaadi -

Jeep Recon 2

The upcoming Jeep SUV will be manufactured at the Ranjangaon facility where Tata and Stellantis already operate through their long running JV

A new Jeep SUV developed in India and shipped to dozens of overseas markets is part of Stellantis’ future product plans and the most interesting bit is that Tata Motors is deeply involved in the programme. The upcoming SUV will be manufactured at the Ranjangaon facility in Maharashtra where Tata Motors and Stellantis already operate through their long running joint venture.

Unlike the Compass and Meridian which were adapted primarily for selected international markets after their India launch, the forthcoming model is being planned from the beginning as a global product with India functioning as the main development and manufacturing base. Multiple reports indicate exports could eventually touch nearly one lakh units annually within the next few years if demand targets are achieved across overseas regions.

The project follows a new agreement signed earlier this year between Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Stellantis to consolidate their cooperation across engineering, sourcing and manufacturing activities. While the partnership between the two companies has existed for nearly two decades through Fiat India Automobiles Private Limited, the new era shows a much larger product level collaboration than before.

jeep avenger-3
For Reference

At present, the Ranjangaon plant manufactures Jeep Compass and Meridian while also producing the versatile 2.0L turbo diesel engine which is also used in MG Hector, Tata Harrier and Safari. Future cooperation could expand well beyond engine manufacturing as industry sources point towards component sharing, localisation support and even platform level integration for upcoming vehicles.

Although Stellantis has not officially disclosed technical details, the new Jeep is expected to target either the compact SUV or midsize SUV category. If it turns out to be the case, it will directly compete against high volume products such as Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Toyota Hyryder, and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara or Tata Nexon, upcoming Renault Bridger and Mahindra XUV 3XO depending on final positioning and size.

Jeep Compass Track edition

Current Jeep products in India remain positioned at the premium end and local sales volumes have stayed relatively limited as a result. A heavily localised SUV developed around Indian manufacturing economics could allow Jeep to enter a far more competitive pricing band while also improving export viability.

Stellantis has already committed major investments globally towards hybrid and electric vehicles and the India developed Jeep could eventually receive electrified powertrains for selected international markets. Flexible architectures capable of supporting multiple propulsion systems are now central to the conglomerate.

India itself is becoming increasingly important for global manufacturers searching for lower development costs and large scale export opportunities. Hyundai, Suzuki, Toyota, VW-Skoda and Renault-Nissan already use India as a manufacturing and export centre for multiple international markets. Stellantis now appears ready to follow a similar path with Jeep and it recently announced an international product offensive involving dozens of new vehicles before the end of the decade.

Tata Motors’ FY27 Product Assault To Comprise Sierra EV, Safari EV & Avinya

GaadiWaadi -

Tata Harrier EV Concept 2

The FY27 product pipeline of Tata Motors to likely include Sierra EV, Safari EV and the debut of first model from the Avinya flagship lineup

A three row electric SUV wearing the Safari badge, the Sierra in EV form and the arrival of an entirely new premium electric nameplate are expected to be part of Tata Motors’ upcoming FY27 roadmap. The company appears readying a packed launch calendar over the existing financial cycle as it looks to consolidate its stand across ICE and EV categories.

The first major arrival in this pipeline will be the Sierra EV which is scheduled for the July to September 2026 period. Tata had already previewed the production ready Sierra at earlier auto exhibitions and the electric version is now confirmed for launch first following the recent arrival of its ICE counterpart. Recently, Tata also introduced the facelifted Punch ICE and EV.

The Sierra EV will be positioned between the Curvv EV and Harrier EV. Design details are expected to stay close to the concept showcased earlier with a squared profile, flush surfaces, connected lighting elements and a more upright stance compared to Tata current SUVs. It will likely feature a layered dashboard design, large touchscreen interface, panoramic glass roof, connected technologies and ADAS functions. Tata is also expected to equip it with a larger battery pack capable of delivering well above 500 km on a single charge.

Apart from all new launches, Tata Motors is preparing four updates across its current passenger vehicle range this FY. Two ICE models and as many electric vehicles are expected to receive notable revisions and they will involve cosmetic tweaks, cabin revisions, additional features and possible battery or drivetrain improvements on EV models. The soon-launching Tiago EV and ICE versions are amongst those arrivals.

The second major EV launch under development is the Safari EV which is expected around the festive season or in the final quarter of FY27. Unlike the current diesel powered Safari, it will become Tata first fully electric three row SUV. It is expected to sit at the top of Tata electric SUV range and will rival Mahindra XEV 9S.

The Safari EV will likely share architecture and several components with the Harrier EV while adopting a longer wheelbase. Dual motor all wheel drive technology could also be introduced in higher trims. Large battery packs, vehicle to load capability, Level 2 ADAS and connected technologies are all expected to feature in the package.

Perhaps the biggest development in Tata upcoming roadmap is the arrival of the Avinya brand during the second half of FY27. Instead of functioning as a single model, Avinya is expected to become Tata premium electric sub brand with more futuristic design approaches. Earlier concepts hinted at minimalist styling, lounge inspired interiors and next-gen electrical architecture derived from JLR’s EMA.

Mahindra Plans 16 New Launches By 2031 – 9 New Nameplates Coming

GaadiWaadi -

Mahindra BE07

Mahindra is planning to bring in multiple new products across different segments and price brackets as new ICE and electric SUVs are waiting in the pipeline

Nine entirely new nameplates across the next five years is the scale of what Mahindra has committed to as part of a revised product roadmap that targets 16 total launches by 2031. Between FY2025 and FY2026, Mahindra launched five ICE models – the XUV 3XO, Thar Roxx, XUV 7XO, Bolero facelift and Bolero Neo facelift – alongside four electric vehicles.

They are BE 6, XEV 9e, XEV 9S and XUV 3XO EV clearing more than half of its original 2024 product target ahead of schedule as it called for nine ICE vehicles and seven EVs by 2030. After FY2026, four ICE models and three EVs remained from that plan – seven products in total. Mahindra has since added nine more to that count – arriving at 16. The ICE side accounts for 10 of those, the electric side for six.

Of the 10 ICE products, nine will carry brand new nameplates. The sole exceptions are the three-door Thar facelift and the Scorpio N mid cycle update which has been caught on camera multiple times and is expected to bring a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats and cabin upgrades while leaving the powertrain unchanged. The nine new ICE nameplates will be built primarily on the NU IQ monocoque platform that Mahindra revealed in August 2025 alongside four concepts.

Mahindra Vision S (3)

The Vision S, Vision X, Vision T and Vision SXT will spawn road going models. Production derivatives of these concepts will fill slots across the XUV, Thar and Scorpio sub brands with the first expected to reach market in 2027. The NU IQ platform supports both ICE and electric powertrains giving Mahindra the flexibility to electrify the same vehicle family without building separate architectures.

The Vision S based compact SUV is the nearest term product from the new nameplate group – positioned above the XUV 3XO and set to compete with the upcoming Renault Bridger and Kia Syros. The Vision T previews a possible electric Thar derivative while the Vision X and Vision SXT could help strengthen its volume range.

Six electric vehicles are planned through to 2031 – up from the three that remained on the original target after FY2026. The BE.07 is the most immediate – currently in testing and expected for a 2027 launch on the INGLO platform and it will sit above the BE 6 in the lineup. Further products on both the INGLO and NU IQ platforms will fill out the electric count through the remainder of the decade.

Upcoming Land Rover Compact Electric Defender – What We Know So Far

GaadiWaadi -

Defender 90

Land Rover electric Defender will use twin e-motors and batteries could be sourced from Tata’s forthcoming gigafactory in the United Kingdom

An 800-volt electrical architecture with ultra-fast charging support of up to 350 kW is among the headline details emerging about the compact electric Defender which international reports suggest could debut as early as 2027. The model will sit below the Defender 90 in the lineup built on the Electrified Modular Architecture. It is a platform developed exclusively for next-gen electric vehicles from JLR.

Twin motors delivering standard all-wheel drive are expected across the range. Batteries will be sourced from Tata’s forthcoming gigafactory in the United Kingdom while production is earmarked for the Halewood facility on Merseyside – currently undergoing a GBP 500 million upgrade to prepare for EV output. The same plant will also build the next generation Range Rover Evoque and Range Rover Velar.

The strategy gives the compact Defender shared infrastructure that helps justify its commercial case at a lower price bracket than the larger models. At an estimated 4.6 metres long, close to 2 metres wide and under 1.8 metres tall, the compact Defender is sized for urban environments without abandoning the visual identity that has defined the nameplate since 2020.

The upright stance, squared silhouette, muscular wheel arches, protective body cladding and LED lighting signatures are expected to carry across in a scaled-down interpretation. The cabin draws from the current Land Rover design direction with the presence of digital screens, advanced driver assistance systems, connected car technology and premium materials are likely.

The interior will be pitched at a younger demographic seeking off-road credentials. On the competitive front, a Mercedes-Benz compact G-Class derivative occupies a similar space in development. For India, where the Defender badge has performed strongly since its relaunch, the model could be under evaluation.

The India-UK Free Trade Agreement which has already brought price reductions on the Range Rover SV and Range Rover Sport SV could reduce import duties significantly by the time this model is production-ready, – making a price point below Rs 1 crore a realistic possibility for the Indian market but it is too early to come to a conclusion at the current moment in time.
