4 New Hyundai Cars To Likely Launch Within 12-18 Months

GaadiWaadi -

New Hyundai SUV (4)

Multiple all-new SUVs and an all-new hatchback likely to make entry into Hyundai showrooms in India by next year

Facing stiff competition from homegrown rivals Tata Motors and Mahindra, Hyundai is planning a wave of new launches to defend its position in the Indian car market. The company is likely to launch four all-new models by 2027.

The first major launch from Hyundai in the near future will be the next-gen Bayon, a new mid-size SUV set to be positioned between the Venue and Creta. The next-gen Bayon should feature a more dynamic exterior than the Creta, which would make it more appealing to younger customers who prefer a sportier and more technical look over strong road presence.

Reports say the next-gen Bayon will debut a newly developed 1.2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, although a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine is also expected to be offered at launch. Hyundai could introduce a hybrid powertrain option a year or two after the launch, expected to take place by September.

In early 2027, Hyundai will likely launch its Tata Punch.ev rival, codenamed ‘HE1i’. The pure electric micro-SUV will feature a squarish silhouette, pixel-inspired front and rear lights, and a high ground clearance. The interior is expected to have a minimalist layout, with the cockpit area featuring a 9.9-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Hyundai could offer two LFP battery pack options, with the larger one delivering a range of 375-400 kilometres.

Later in 2027, possibly in the summer, Hyundai will likely launch the next-gen Creta. Inspired by the Hyundai Crater concept, the all-new Creta will be underpinned by Hyundai Motor Group’s K3 platform and be significantly larger, likely measuring approximately 4.5 metres in length. Inside, the redesigned model would be noticeably spacious and likely adopt the same display concept as the aforementioned micro-SUV. Unlike the current Creta, the next-gen model is expected to be offered with a hybrid powertrain as an option, based on a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine.

Hyundai is developing an all-new i20 as well, and it is likely to launch the fully redesigned premium hatchback in India at the end of 2027. Spy shots suggest it will have a familiar sporty character, but with a completely new design. Inside, these images have indicated that Hyundai is planning to offer a curved panoramic panel that seamlessly integrates the driver information display and the touchscreen infotainment system. Another major upgrade will likely be the availability of a slew of Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems.

Maruti Suzuki Victoris Crosses 1 Lakh Sales In Just Over 8 Months

GaadiWaadi -

Maruti Victoris (11)

Maruti Suzuki Victoris is sold through the regular Arena dealerships and is available with mild-hybrid petrol, CNG and strong hybrid engine options

Maruti Suzuki’s newest SUV has achieved a significant milestone in record time. The Victoris has crossed the 1 lakh sales mark in just over eight months since its market introduction. Between September 2025 and May 2026, the Victoris accumulated total sales of 1,00,144 units – making it one of the fastest growing products within Maruti Suzuki’s portfolio.

The milestone is particularly noteworthy considering the intense competition in the segment. The Victoris entered a market already populated by strong contenders, yet managed to quickly establish itself among Indian consumers. High demand during the festive period followed by consistent monthly volumes through the first half of 2026 allowed the SUV to cross the one lakh sales milestone before completing its first year on sale.

After posting 4,261 units in its launch month of September 2025, volumes surged to 13,496 units in October. The month of November contributed another 12,300 units before sales moderated to 6,210 units in the final month of the year. As expected, the demand picked up again in 2026 as the Victoris recorded its highest monthly tally of 15,240 units in January.

The month of February added 13,021 units to the tally while March and April delivered 11,062 units and 13,701 units respectively. Even in May 2026, the SUV maintained healthy volumes with 10,853 units as it finished third in the midsize SUV standings and more importantly, ahead of its sibling, the Grand Vitara. A major factor behind the Victoris’ success is its market positioning and aggressive pricing.

The vehicle appeals to both first-time SUV customers and existing hatchback owners looking to upgrade and is available in an expansive range. Under the bonnet, the Victoris is offered with Maruti Suzuki’s proven 1.5-litre K15C naturally aspirated petrol engine. The four-cylinder unit develops around 103 hp and 137 Nm of torque while being paired with either a five-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

Maruti victoris (6)

The powertrain also benefits from mild-hybrid technology. A factory-fitted CNG option further ups its appeal among those prioritising lower running costs. The presence of a 1.5-litre strong hybrid unit enabling an ARAI claimed mileage of 28.65 kmpl is another highlight. Depending on the variant, the Victoris offers a large touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, connected car technology, wireless charging, cruise control, a 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, ADAS, AWD tech, a panoramic sunroof, etc.

toyota innova hycross

In May 2026, Toyota recorded total sales of 30,574 units as against 29,280 units with a YoY growth of 4 per cent

Toyota Kirloskar Motor continued its growth trajectory in May 2026 recording domestic sales of 30,574 units compared to 29,280 units during the same month last year. The company posted a 4 per cent year-on-year increase and a marginal 1 per cent improvement over April 2026. Consistent volumes for the Innova range, Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Fortuner remained the key factor while premium offerings such as the Vellfire and Land Cruiser 300 registered impressive gains.

The Innova Hycross and Innova Crysta combination once again emerged as Toyota’s best-selling product family. Combined sales stood at 10,325 units in May 2026 – up 16 per cent from 8,882 units a year ago. Volumes also improved 7 per cent compared to April. The Innova range alone contributed nearly one-third of Toyota’s overall monthly dispatches.

The Urban Cruiser Hyryder remained Toyota’s second largest volume generator with 8,664 units. The midsize SUV’s sales increased 14 per cent year-on-year but volumes slipped 5 per cent compared to April 2026. Appreciable demand for petrol and hybrid variants continues to support the five-seater’s performance.

The segment leader Fortuner’s sales rose 13 per cent year-on-year to 2,905 units while month-on-month volumes jumped 29 per cent from 2,253 units. Despite increasing competition from new models, the Fortuner continues to dominate the full-size SUV category thanks to its long standing reputation. The Hilux also recorded healthy growth – climbing 29 per cent year-on-year to 414 units and improving 36 per cent over April.

Not every model enjoyed a positive month. The more affordable Glanza’s sales declined by 33 per cent to 3,198 units while the Taisor dropped 18 per cent to 2,496 units. Both products also witnessed month-on-month declines. The Rumion, on the other hand, remained one of the brighter spots among Toyota’s rebadged offerings posting 11 per cent growth with 2,119 units but its sales were down 18 per cent compared to April.

Toyota Fortuner Neo Drive

Toyota’s luxury portfolio recorded some of the highest growth figures during the month. For instance, the Vellfire MPV’s sales surged from just 29 units in May 2025 to 164 units this year with a massive 466 per cent increase. It also improved 39 per cent over April. The Land Cruiser 300’s volumes more than doubled month-on-month to 97 units as well.

2026 Tata Tiago EV Facelift Detailed Drive Review & 100-0% Range Test

GaadiWaadi -

2026 tata tiago ev (3)

Is the 2026 Tata Tiago EV still the best value electric hatchback in the country? Do check out our detailed range test in the link below

Tata Motors has given the Tiago EV its biggest update since launch and the changes go well beyond cosmetic tweaks. The 2026 Tiago EV Facelift arrives at a time when the segment sees increased acceptance from consumers. We recently spent an extended period with the top-spec variant and conducted a comprehensive 100-0 per cent range evaluation to understand whether the updated Tiago EV still deserves a place at the top of the entry-level electric car segment.

Under the skin, the top-end variant continues with Tata’s 24 kWh battery pack offering a certified range of 285 km. Power is delivered through a front-mounted electric motor producing close to 75 hp and 114 Nm of torque. While these numbers may not appear particularly impressive on paper, the instant torque delivery transforms the way the car feels in city conditions.

Acceleration from standstill is brisk and overtaking slower traffic requires minimal effort. The compact dimensions combined with light steering make navigating crowded urban environments remarkably easy. The facelift introduces a sharper exterior appearance with revised LED lighting elements, a redesigned front fascia, new alloy wheel designs and subtle updates to the rear.

Despite its age, the Tiago’s proportions continue to work well and the facelift helps disguise the platform’s maturity. Fit and finish levels have also improved, particularly on the inside. It comprises a revised dashboard, a 26.03 cm HD touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a new digital instrument cluster, iRA.ev connectivity with in-car connected tech, dual smartphone deck with wireless charging and more.

Other key features are automatic temperature control, rear AC vents, seats with extended under thigh support, 65W front Type-C USB, cruise control, a four speaker surround system, six airbags as standard, a 360 degree SVS HD camera with multiple 2D and 3D views, a Blind View Monitor, 360 degree impact protection body structure, ESP with traction control, ABS with EBD, Corner Stability Control, Hill Hold Control and more.

In the video linked above, we have explained about the new affordable e-hatchback in detail and it is sold in four variants namely Smart 19, Pure+ 19, Pure+ 24 and Creative+ 24. It also boasts a lifetime high voltage battery warranty on the 24 kWh pack (15 years for first time owner).

Mahindra registered 58,021 units in May 2026 with an 11 per cent increase over the 52,431 units sold during the same period last year

Mahindra & Mahindra closed last month with domestic PV sales of 58,021 units – registering an 11 per cent increase over the 52,431 units recorded in May 2025. Its volume growth was supported by continued demand for the Scorpio, Thar and XUV 7XO while the company’s expanding electric vehicle portfolio added more volumes through the XEV 9S. Unlike several manufacturers that rely heavily on a select few products, Mahindra continued to spread its volumes across multiple SUV segments ranging from off-roaders to premium electric vehicles.

The Mahindra Scorpio remained the company’s biggest volume contributor during the month. Sales stood at 15,774 units – up 10 per cent from 14,401 units in May 2025. Its month-on-month volumes also improved by 7 per cent over April 2026. Even years after launch, the Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic combination continues to attract consumers.

The Thar recorded 10,787 units in May 2026 – improving by 4 per cent year-on-year. The Scorpio and Thar generated more than 26,500 units – accounting for nearly half of Mahindra’s monthly passenger vehicle sales. Another appreciable performer was the XUV 7XO. The three-row SUV delivered 9,338 units and posted a healthy 45 per cent increase over the 6,435 units recorded a year ago.
