Kia To Launch 5 New Cars In India By 2027 – Syros EV To Sorento Hybrid

GaadiWaadi -

Kia Seltos Hybrid (1)

Most new Kia launches in the next 12-18 months officially confirmed to be electric and hybrid vehicles, including two three-row models

The second-gen Seltos that was launched in January was the first of several new models Kia has lined up for India in the second half of the decade. By next year alone, the company will be holding five more crucial launches to grow its presence in the SUV and MPV categories.

1. Kia Syros EV

The first upcoming major launch will be the Syros EV, scheduled to be unveiled in July. The Syros EV will look nearly identical to the ICE Syros, save for a few EV-typical changes such as a smaller front grille, active grille shutters, and a more aerodynamic design for the wheels.

Kia Syros EV

Kia is planning deep localisation, right down to the cell level, to price the Syros EV competitively. The new EV could have a range of approximately 500 kilometres.

2. Kia Sorento Hybrid

The Kia Sorento Hybrid has formally received the green signal for India and will likely be launched in the final quarter of the year. The three-row D-segment SUV competes with the likes of Skoda Kodiaq and VW Tayron globally, and reports suggest that it will be the first model in its segment from an overseas brand to be manufactured in India. This would make it the most significant car launch in our market this year.

Kia Sorento (7)

Kia uses a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine and an electric motor in the Sorento Hybrid globally, but in India, it may swap the former with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine.

3. Kia Carnival Hybrid

Kia-Carnival.jpg

Along with the Sorento Hybrid, Kia has confirmed plans to bring the Carnival Hybrid to India this year. The company should launch it shortly after the Sorento Hybrid, but it will not manufacture this model locally. Being an import, the Carnival Hybrid will be brought with the same combination of a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine and an electric motor as in global markets.

4. Kia Seltos Hybrid

Kia has also confirmed plans to launch a Seltos Hybrid in India, and while it has yet to reveal, we think it could be considering the second quarter of 2027 as the timeline. While globally the Seltos Hybrid has a 1.6-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine assisted by an electric motor, in India, it will feature a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine teamed with an electric motor.

5. Next-gen Kia Sonet

Media reports say that the next-gen Kia Sonet will also be launched in 2027. The future model will be based on the K1 platform of the Kia Syros and feature a new E/E architecture. More rear-seat space, higher structural safety, a fully digital instrument cluster, a more advanced infotainment system, and new comfort features could be among the key changes. A hybrid variant will follow by 2029, Kia has confirmed.

Upcoming Mahindra Vision S To Likely Bridge Gap Between XUV 3XO & Scorpio N

GaadiWaadi -

Mahindra Vision S

Mahindra’s Vision S-based compact SUV could feature powertrains borrowed from XUV 3XO; launch likely in 2027

Mahindra & Mahindra appears to be looking for a significant expansion of its SUV range with a new compact model derived from the Vision S concept. Expected to make its India debut around 2027, it will likely be positioned above the XUV 3XO while sitting below the Scorpio N – effectively bridging an important gap in the brand’s lineup.

Once launched, it could rival the 2027-bound Renault Bridger and Kia Syros. The upcoming SUV will not follow Mahindra’s traditional ladder-frame approach. Instead, it is set to be underpinned by the brand’s new NU_IQ monocoque architecture which has been developed to support multiple future utility vehicles. It promises better space utilisation, improved ride comfort and enhanced driving characteristics.

From a styling perspective, early test sightings suggest that the SUV will carry forward Mahindra’s signature muscular design language but in a more compact footprint. It is expected to feature a tall and upright stance, squared-off proportions, prominent wheel arches and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel. Thick pillars and sharp window lines could further emphasise its appeal.

Under the hood, Mahindra may borrow familiar powertrain options from the XUV 3XO. This could include a 1.2-litre TGDi turbo petrol engine producing around 131 hp and 230 Nm of torque alongside a 1.5-litre diesel unit delivering close to 117 hp and 300 Nm. Transmission choices may comprise a six-speed manual, a torque converter automatic and an AMT option.

Higher variants could come equipped with a touchscreen infotainment system, panoramic sunroof, cruise control and a rear armrest while mid-spec trims may get a semi-digital instrument cluster and other essential bits. Despite its relatively smaller dimensions compared to the Scorpio N, the new model could offer generous cabin space and a usable boot.

3 Upcoming Hyundai Hybrid SUVs To Wait For In India – Key Info

GaadiWaadi -

2025-Hyundai-Palisade-2.jpg

Hyundai will venture into the hybrid space in the coming years and here are the three SUVs that are expected to play a big role

Hyundai is gearing up for a major transformation with a definitive push towards hybrid technology and a trio of SUVs is expected to arrive over the next few years. The brand is reportedly working on multiple hybrid offerings including the next generation Creta, an all-new three-row SUV positioned above the Alcazar and the much-awaited Palisade.

Among these, the next-gen Creta will be one of the most significant launches for the company. Internally codenamed SX3, the upcoming iteration is expected to undergo a comprehensive overhaul when it arrives around 2027. It will reportedly be underpinned by a new architecture – allowing Hyundai to rework its proportions and styling with a sharper design approach.

The cabin, too, will see a major upgrade with improved materials, a more tech-based layout and additional features to keep it competitive in its segment. Engine options for the new Creta are expected to continue with the current set of petrol, turbo petrol and diesel units but the highlight will be the introduction of a hybrid variant.

Its addition is expected to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions while retaining the performance customers expect. Positioned above the Alcazar, Hyundai is also developing a new three-row SUV, currently known by its internal codename Ni1i. It is expected to slot between the Alcazar and the global Hyundai Tucson in the brand’s lineup.

It will likely feature a modified version of Hyundai’s 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with hybrid technology just as the Creta and will be capable of running in electric-only mode to conserve fuel mainly in traffic scenarios. Production timelines suggest a possible debut around 2027 and it will compete with a range of hybrid SUVs in the burgeoning segment.

The flagship SUV could arrive in India by 2028 bringing a new level of premium appeal to Hyundai’s SUV range.
