Demand for electric cars in India is at an all-time high, driven by a growing model range in mass-market segments, rising consumer awareness, and expanding charging infrastructure. In the coming months, for new electric cars will arrive in Indian showrooms, paving the way for further growth.

2. Tata Sierra.ev

As its name suggests, the Tata Sierra.ev will be a derivative of the all-new Tata Sierra. However, it will undergo some major structural changes in the process, like switching from a front-biased to a rear-biased drivetrain, for instance. Another major change will be the adoption of an independent rear suspension, although that will be seen on the ICE donor also in the future, with the arrival of an AWD option in 2027.

Tata Motors is likely to launch the Sierra.ev in standard-range RWD, extended-range RWD, and extended-range AWD variants. The extended-range RWD variant should be able to travel at least around 600 kilometres (MIDC Part 1 + Part 2) on a single charge.

3. Kia Syros EV

The Kia Syros EV will be the South Korean automaker’s Tata Nexon.ev challenger. An active air intake grille with automatically opening/closing shutters, more aerodynamic 16-inch alloy wheels, and a few tweaks to the bumpers are expected to be the key design changes on the electric derivative. The interior should look even more similar.

Kia will likely offer the Syros EV with two LFP battery pack options, and the larger of the two may deliver around 500 kilometres of range. The LFP cells will be produced locally by Exide Energy to keep costs in check.

Expected to be offered in 6- and 7-seat versions, the Tata Safari-derived EV will likely come with the same battery pack and powertrain options as the Tata Harrier.ev. Depending on the configuration, it could be capable of covering a distance of up to around 600 kilometres (MIDC Part 1 + Part 2) on a single charge. Tata Motors will likely launch this model in September.
