Tata is planning to introduce a host of new models across different categories over the next five years and here we have detailed them

Tata Motors has already outlined an ambitious product strategy that extends till 2030. The plan includes more than 15 upcoming models which will consist of facelifts, refreshed versions and next generation avatars. However, what truly stands out in this roadmap is the introduction of seven brand new nameplates which will ensure a significant expansion of the company’s portfolio.

They will play a pivotal role in shaping Tata’s long term future. Leading the charge will be the much awaited production-ready Sierra and the final road-going version of the Avinya concept – both of which have been previewed in different forms earlier. The former will arrive first before the debut of the latter which will become the most premium model within Tata’s portfolio.

Tata is gearing up to reintroduce the legendary Sierra nameplate before the close of the current financial year. The next-gen Sierra will be available in both petrol and electric versions with the EV variant leading the launch. The internal combustion model will be powered by the new 1.5-litre TGDI four-cylinder petrol engine – delivering around 168 PS and 280 Nm of peak torque.

Alongside the petrol and electric versions, Tata is also expected to equip the upcoming Sierra with the trusted 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that already serves the Harrier and Safari. Beyond the confirmed lineup, Tata has hinted at multiple undisclosed projects as revealed during a recent dealer interaction.

The rejuvenated portfolio will not only feature the new Sierra and Avinya but also four additional products that are under development. These include two internal combustion models, currently codenamed ICE Product A and ICE Product B as well as two electric offerings internally labelled EV Product X and EV Product Y.

To ensure the smooth rollout of this ambitious roadmap, Tata has earmarked an investment of nearly Rs. 35,000 crore ensuring its long term commitment to both ICE and EV markets. Tata will also consolidate its affordable range as a brand new compact offering, speculated to be called the Tata Scarlet, is on the horizon. The homegrown company is reportedly planning to spin the Avinya into a dedicated sub-brand from 2027 onwards – offering multiple body styles under its banner.

Mahindra Vision S is likely to be the third derivative in the Scorpio range after the N and Classic models in the Indian market

Mahindra & Mahindra unveiled four all-new concept models on Aug 15, 2025 on the occasion of India’s Independence Day in Mumbai. However, among the four concepts, the most talked about was the Vision S, which is likely to be the future of its best-selling Scorpio SUV. Most of the insiders closer to the development told us that Mahindra Vision S will spawn a new sub-4 m SUV in the Scorpio line-up which presently has N and Classic models. Underpinned by the all-new NU_IQ monocoque modular platform, it is expected to be compatible with ICE, EV and hybrid powertrains.

Some of the prominent design highlights of the Vision S concept include L-shaped inverted DRLs, Twin Peaks logo, Front parking sensors and radar, Pixel-shaped fog lamp units, Roof-mounted lights and 19-inch wheels. Further, it boasts of heavy cladding around the wheel arches and beneath the doors. Interestingly, the Vision S flaunts camera units in place of the conventional side view mirrors.

Enter the cabin and it will not be an understatement to call it the most futuristic and advanced thing offered by Mahindra till date in any of its SUV models. In the words of Mahindra’s Chief Design & Creative Officer Pratap Bose, the Vision S cabin is going to be a great combination of digital and physical buttons. It has a new three-spoke steering wheel with ‘Vision S’ logo in the centre.

Having a wheelbase of 2665 mm, the Mahindra Vision S production model is expected to come out in 2027. The NU_IQ architecture is highly versatile as it can accommodate ICE, EV and hybrid powertrains with both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive systems. In July 2025, Maruti Suzuki WagonR sat on top of the hatchback sales charts ahead of Swift, Baleno, Alto, Tiago and Glanza in India

The hatchback segment in India during July 2025 witnessed plenty of shake up as some of the popular models gained momentum while others faced steep drops on a YoY basis. Leading the table, the Maruti Suzuki WagonR sold 14,710 units – registering a decline of 9 per cent compared to 16,191 units in July 2024.

It is worth nothing that the fourth generation Swift arrived just over a year ago.

One of the strongest performers was the Maruti Suzuki Baleno which saw a sharp growth of 34 per cent – reaching 12,503 units as against 9,309 units in the same month last year. On the flip side, the Maruti Suzuki Alto posted 5,910 units – reflecting a fall of 20 per cent compared to 7,353 units in July 2024 as it continues to face decline.
