Skoda Octavia RS India Launch Scheduled For November 2025

2024 Skoda Octavia RS Facelift

Skoda will launch the limited-run Octavia RS in India this November

Skoda has officially confirmed that the fourth-generation Octavia RS will be introduced in India in November 2025. The announcement, made earlier by brand director Ashish Gupta, had hinted at a 2025 debut but the launch month has now been locked in.

Engine and Performance

The new Octavia RS will be powered by the familiar 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine from the EA888 family. This unit develops 265 HP and 370 Nm of peak torque, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The performance sedan is claimed to accelerate from 0-100 km/hr in 6.4 seconds and will feature an electronically capped top speed of 250 km/hr.

This engine is already seen in Skoda’s Kodiaq RS as well as the Volkswagen Golf GTI, which gives enthusiasts an idea of its performance credentials.

Limited Availability

In line with its strategy for previous RS models, Skoda is expected to import the Octavia RS in restricted numbers, likely capped at around 200 units. The Octavia RS 245, launched earlier in India, had also been limited to the same number of units.

Expected Pricing

Industry insiders suggest that the Octavia RS could carry an ex-showroom price of approximately Rs. 51 lakhs. This would put it on par with the Volkswagen Golf GTI, which currently retails at Rs. 50.91 lakh under GST 2.0 taxation.

The model was last showcased at the 2025 Bharat Mobility show, signalling Skoda’s commitment to offering its high-performance sedan in India despite it being positioned as a niche import.

Nissan C-SUV (Creta Rival) Spied Testing Again, Launch Next Year

GaadiWaadi -

Nissan-C-SUV-Spied-India.jpg

New Nissan midsize SUV will be launched by the middle of next year and it will spawn a seven-seater sibling in 2027 in India

Nissan is gearing up for a major product assault in India as a brand new compact MPV, due early next year, will be built on the same CMF-A+ platform as the Renault Triber. Hot on its heels will be a new C-segment SUV, sharing its underpinnings with the upcoming Renault Duster, and a three-row derivative scheduled to launch in 2027.

With a single product in its portfolio, Nissan is struggling to gain volumes but over the next 12-24 months, its range will be significantly expanded and the C-SUV will play a key role in it as it will compete against the likes of  Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and recently launched Victoris, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq.

Last month, it was caught testing for the first time on public roads and here we have showed you the latest spy shots as the five-seater will be introduced by the middle of next calendar year. The Japanese manufacturer teased the midsize SUV a couple of times already and the prototype stays true to the design elements of the teaser.

Spy pictures reveal a flat and upright stance at the front. What does stand out are the star-patterned black alloy wheels, squared-off arches that give it a muscular stance and a boxy rear profile capped with an integrated spoiler and details like a shark-fin antenna and a high-mounted stop lamp. It does have an appealing road presence.

A sharply raked windshield, tall pillars and a mildly tapering roofline give the SUV a generous glasshouse. Up front, the slim LED headlamps with inverted L-shaped turn indicators are flank by C-shaped air inlets on the bumper while a skid plate adds a rugged stance. At the back, a chunky bumper and rectangular LED tail lamps can be seen.

The grille will follow Nissan’s latest design philosophy seen globally with multiple horizontal slats being at the forefront while a light bar will also be available positioned below the aggressive bonnet structure. Amidst sharing a lot with the next-gen Duster, the spiritual successor to the Terrano will have its own distinct elements inside and out.

It will sit not the heavily localised CMF-B+ architecture and will be equipped with features such as a large touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android integration, Level 2 ADAS, automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, six airbags as standard, TPMS, a fully-digital instrument console and more. Nissan is expected to launch the C-SUV with small capacity petrol engines at first before the arrival of a hybrid option.

All-New Nissan 7-Seater MPV India Launch In Q1 2026

GaadiWaadi -

Nissan-C-SUV-Compact-MPV-2.jpeg

The launch of the B-MPV will be followed by a Duster-based midsized SUV in the second half of 2026 and a 7-seater full-sized model in early 2027

Nissan India will launch three all-new models in the next 12-15 months in the country, confirmed MD Saurabh Vatsa. This will include a compact MPV in Q1 2026, Duster-based midsized SUV in the second half of next year and a 7-seater full-sized SUV in early 2027. The company had earlier teased the B-segment MPV and C-segment SUV on its social media handles and we believe that both these new products will go on sale in 2026. Nissan presently retails two SUV models in the Indian market namely Magnite and X-trail.

1. New Nissan B-MPV

The all-new 7-seater B-MPV from Nissan will have its world premiere later this year or early 2026. The teaser reveals that it will flaunt a C-shaped front grille design with muscular SUV attributes under Nissan’s distinct design philosophy. The new Nissan MPV will be locally developed at the brand’s Chennai facility while locking horns directly with the Renault Triber.

Nissan-C-SUV-Compact-MPV.jpeg

Underpinning the CMF-A+ architecture, the new Nissan MPV will share the cabin and features with the Magnite. For those asking, the CMF-A+ platform is the heavily reengineered version of the Kwid’s CMF-A architecture. It is likely to be powered by a naturally-aspirated 1.0L petrol engine with manual and AMT transmission options. The company might equip the top-end variants with the 1.0L turbocharged petrol engine and CVT gearbox.

2. New Nissan C-SUV

Nissan’s Duster-based midsized SUV will be launched in the second half of 2026 in our country. The company has officially stated that the C-SUV’s exterior design will be inspired by the latest version of Nissan Patrol, which is sold in several global markets. The Japanese automaker further added that the new midsize SUV will be feature-packed while offering a high approach and departure angle to suit the Indian road conditions.

It has also been confirmed by Nissan on multiple occasions that the new Duster-based C-segment SUV, based on the CMF-B platform, will be locally developed at the Chennai facility and exported to several overseas markets. Following the brand’s ‘One Car, One World’ strategy, it will be the second Nissan model after the Magnite to be built in India and shipped to more than 65 countries in both right-hand-drive and left-hand-drive configurations.

3. New Nissan 7-seater SUV

Last but not the least, Nissan will introduce a 7-seater version of the 5-seater C-SUV in early 2027 in the Indian market. However, Saurabh Vatsa made it clear that it won’t be merely “a plus-2 configuration but a very different vehicle and engineered to be a proper 7-seater.” The 7-seater three-row Nissan SUV will be based on Renault Boreal in a similar pattern as the 5-seater version is based on the Renault Duster.

Renault Boreal (2)
Renault Boreal

The new Nissan D-SUV is claimed to be more feature rich than its Renault counterpart. Though, it will share the platform, engine and other mechanicals with the Boreal. However, it is not confirmed whether Nissan will opt for the strong hybrid powertrain or not, as Renault has confirmed to bring the strong hybrid tech in Duster and Boreal to India.

Full Size SUV Sales August 2025 – Fortuner, Kodiaq, Meridian, Gloster & Tiguan

GaadiWaadi -

toyota fortuner

The Toyota Fortuner continues to lead the full-size SUV segment in the Indian market, followed by the Skoda Kodiaq

With the recent reduction in GST rates, the full-size SUV segment is expected to grow further in the automotive space. The price cut will help improve the affordability factor of these SUVs, making them more accessible to a larger chunk of customers. Regarding sales, the Toyota Fortuner has been dominating the full-size SUV segment for a long time, and this trend continued in August 2025.

Continuing its run at the top spot, Toyota Fortuner posted sales of 2,503 units in August 2025. This accounts for a 7% YOY growth as 2,338 units of the SUV were sold in the same time period last year in 2024.

On the other hand, Fortuner saw a dip of 22% in the MOM sales. The proven bulletproof reliability, coupled with the brand value associated with the Toyota badge, is one of the main reasons behind the SUV’s consistent sales.

The Skoda Kodiaq and Jeep Meridian shared the second spot in August 2025, with both posting sales of 75 units each. The Skoda Kodiaq saw a downward trajectory with a 48% YOY de-growth, and a similar trend was observed in the MOM chart. The Jeep Meridian, on the other hand, registered a 25 YOY growth, making it the only SUV other than the Fortuner to register yearly growth. However, it lost by 22% in the MOM sales.

The Gloster’s graph plummeted with a 93% YOY decline by selling just 16 units in August 2025. MG revealed Majestor at the 2025 Auto Expo earlier this year, and it is the facelifted version of the Gloster. The new SUV will be sold alongside Gloster as the range-topping variant, and it will likely be launched in India in the coming months.

The latest Volkswagen Tiguan, which is currently selling in its R-Line guise in India, posted single-digit sales of only 8 units. It witnessed a negative growth of 89% in the YOY sales chart, and similarly, the MOM sales saw a 71% dip.

The Tiguan R-Line is being imported into the country via the CBU route, resulting in steep pricing. The German carmaker will also launch the Tayron 7-seater SUV in the country in the coming months.

3 Upcoming Compact Electric SUVs In India – Kia To Mahindra

GaadiWaadi -

Kia EV2 Concept

The leading automobile brands in the country will introduce multiple electric SUVs measuring under 4 meters in length in the coming 2-3 years

The compact electric SUV segment is getting a lot of popularity among the buyers from the last few years in the Indian market. It already has multiple heavyweights in the form of Tata Nexon EV, MG Windsor EV and Mahindra XUV 4OO in the domestic market. However, in the coming months, we will witness the launch of more compact electric SUVs from the leading auto brands such as Hyundai, Kia and Mahindra. Hence, in this piece, we will talk in detail about the upcoming compact electric SUVs in India.

1. Kia Syros EV

Kia India is ready to launch the all-electric version of the Syros in the first quarter of 2026 in the country. The e-SUV was recently spotted for the first time at a charging station in Korea. Underpinning the same K1 platform as Hyundai Inster EV, the all-electric Kia Syros is expected to come loaded with several premium features such as Level 2 ADAS, ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, and dual 12.3-inch touchscreens for driver digital display and central infotainment system.

Though technical details are under wraps, we believe the Kia Syros EV to borrow the 42kWh and 49kWh battery packs from Hyundai Inster EV with WLTP driving range of 300 km and 355 km, respectively. It will be a front-wheel-drive electric SUV while being Kia’s second mass-market model in the EV segment after the Carens MPV.

2. Mahindra XUV 3XO EV

Mahindra is planning to introduce a new entry-level electric SUV in the form of the XUV 3XO EV in the Indian market. To be positioned below the XUV 4OO, it will be the electrified version of the XUV 3XO with EV-specific badges and subtle cosmetic updates. Mahindra XUV 3XO EV has been spied testing multiple times with minimal camouflage and it is likely to go on sale in Q1 2026 in India.

The XUV 3XO EV will borrow the feature list from the ICE version which includes panoramic sunroof, front parking sensors, electronic parking brake with auto hold, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Level 2 ADAS and Harmon Kardon sound system. It is likely to be equipped with a 35 kWh battery pack with driving range of around 400 km on a single charge.

3. Hyundai Inster EV

Recently, Hyundai announced its EV strategy for the Indian market at its first CEO Investor Day organised outside Korea. The new India-spec EV, in all likelihood, will be a small model to directly rival Tata Punch EV. The dimensions could be identical to the Exter, contrary to the previous reports which claimed that it will be based on the Inster.

Hyundai-Inster_.jpg

The all-new Hyundai EV for India will be locally developed at the brand’s Chennai production facility. Though technical specs are not in public domain yet, we expect the new electric SUV to carry the 42 kWh and 49 kWh battery pack options from the Inster. The driving range could be above 300 km on a full charge.

3 New Hyundai Creta Rivals Coming Within The Next 12-15 Months

GaadiWaadi -

Nissan-C-SUV-Compact-MPV-1.jpeg

Hyundai Creta’s unparalleled dominance will be challenged by multiple new rivals in the coming 2 years and here we look at the three key ones arriving soon

Hyundai Creta has been the undisputed leader of the midsize SUV segment for more than a decade in the Indian market. Originally launched in 2015, it is presently in the third-generation but the charm hasn’t faded even one bit, despite the arrival and departure of so many heavyweights such as Renault Duster, Nissan Kicks and Tata Hexa among others. However, this dominance could face a stiff challenge in the next couple of years with multiple new rivals entering the fray. Lets decode Hyundai Creta rivals launching in the next two years in India.

1. Tata Sierra

The Sierra is making a highly-anticipated comeback in the Indian market after more than two decades, albeit in an all-new avatar. Showcased at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo earlier this year, it will be introduced in ICE as well as EV versions. Tata Sierra is expected to go on sale in early 2026 while it has been spotted numerous times during its test runs, revealing a lot of key details.

While the EV version is likely to come with several avant-garde features such as DC fast charging compatibility, Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) tech among others, the ICE model will be offered in both petrol and diesel fuel trims with 1.5L TGDi and 2.0L Kryotec engines, respectively. It might also get an AWD system with the EV version. However, we await official confirmation.

2. Renault Duster

Identical to the Sierra, the Duster is also making a return to the Indian market in 2026. First launched in 2012, it was the first compact SUV in the Indian market and the suit was later followed by several leading brands such as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata Motors and Kia with models like S-Cross, Creta, Harrier and Seltos, respectively.

Dacia Duster

The new Renault Duster is expected to come with a 1.3L turbo petrol engine while reports indicate that a 1.0L turbocharged petrol motor could also be used in the base variants. It is also learnt that a strong hybrid version is also being readied to take on the likes of Maruti Grand Vitara and Kia Seltos. The design of the SUV will be highly influenced by the Dacia Bigster while the cabin will come equipped with never-seen-before features.

3. Nissan Kait

Nissan is also working on an all-new SUV for the Indian market, which will be based on the same CMF-B platform as Renault Duster. Though it is not confirmed yet whether it could be christened as the ‘Kait’ or the Japanese brand might use some different moniker. Despite underpinning the same architecture as the Duster, it will have its own identity with distinct design language and is set to launch in 2026 too.

The media reports claim that it will get more features as compared to the Duster while being manufactured at Renault-Nissan factory in Chennai with higher levels of localisation to achieve an aggressive pricing. It will share the 1.3L turbocharged petrol engine with the Duster while a 1.6L petrol mill with strong hybrid tech is also under active consideration.
