Mahindra XUV 7XO To Likely Be The Name Of XUV 700 Facelift – Here’s Why

GaadiWaadi -

2026-Mahindra-XUV-700-Facelift-Spied.jpg

Mahindra XUV 7XO will more likely go on sale early next year and it will get a host of revisions inside the cabin with mild cosmetic updates

Early last year, Mahindra & Mahindra applied trademark filings for new names such as XUV 1XO, XUV 3XO, XUV 5XO and XUV 7XO. While the XUV 3XO turned out to be the rebranded XUV 300 with multiple updates inside and out, the XUV 7XO was initially thought to be the XUV.e8 concept based three-row electric SUV based on the XUV 700.

However, we officially know that the brand’s first all-electric three-row offering will carry the XEV 9S moniker as it is based on the same INGLO platform as the XEV 9E. Thus, utilising the XUV 7XO nameplate for the updated XUV 700 which has been caught testing multiple times in recent months only makes sense.

In the future, the XUV 1XO and XUV 5XO names could make way for a micro SUV and a 4.3-metre long midsize SUV respectively or they might be left unused as it is too early to tell at this moment. The Mahindra XUV 7XO will go on sale in the first quarter of next calendar year and it will get a slew of revisions.

The exterior gets a slightly redesigned front end featuring a reworked bumper and updated headlamp elements. Mahindra seems to be retaining the signature flush-type door handles from the current version and as you might expect, the overall profile will remain unchanged. The XUV 7XO is also expected to sport a new design for its alloy wheels.

It may also retain the same overall dimensions and glasshouse as the current model. Mahindra will likely complement these subtle design tweaks with a few new exterior paint options. At the rear, the XUV700’s taillights seem to retain their familiar outline – though the internals look to be revised mildly.

On the inside, Mahindra appears to be bringing in big revisions as upgraded materials and some of the detailing as well as equipment are inspired by its latest born-electric models. The equipment list will be headlined by a new triple-screen setup. Front ventilated seats, an updated suite of Level 2 ADAS functions, automatic climate control and wireless phone charging will remain.

Other highlights of the Mahindra XUV 7XO will include USB Type-C ports, a 360-degree camera system, full-LED lighting, ambient illumination, multiple airbags, adjustable headrests, etc. Under the hood, the 2026 Mahindra XUV700 will retain its proven powertrains – the 2.0-litre mStallion petrol and the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engines.

Honda 0 Series Alpha EV To Lead The Brand’s Big Product Assault In India

GaadiWaadi -

Honda-0-α-Alpha-EV-India-1.jpg

Honda 0 Series Alpha concept will give birth to a midsize electric SUV similar in size to the Elevate and it could target a range of over 500 km

Honda’s next big step in the EV space will be led by the 0 Series Alpha, a midsize electric SUV that the company has now confirmed for both India and Japan by 2027. The concept drew plenty of attention at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show for being a futuristic design study and sitting at the heart of Honda’s renewed strategy for markets where it has fallen behind in the last few years.

During the presentation, Honda Motor Co’s top boss Toshihiro Mibe outlined the brand’s long-term roadmap with unusual openness. He stressed that Honda is preparing to increase its involvement in India more aggressively than at any point in the past. With Chinese EV players expanding rapidly and the competitive landscape shifting, Honda sees India as a crucial part of its recovery plan right alongside Japan and North America.

The 0 Series Alpha concept gets clean surfaces, sharp detailing and an almost minimalist attitude that still manages to look futuristic. More importantly, it’s built on a ground-up EV architecture – not a repurposed ICE platform. Honda may target a driving range north of 500 km per charge and it will be available with two battery packs. Production for both domestic and export markets will take place in India – turning the country into a major hub.

Honda-0-α-Alpha-EV-India-2.jpg

Some may draw parallels to the Elevate in terms of stance but the similarities are only skin deep. Everything underneath has been re-engineered specifically for battery-electric duty –  the chassis layout, electronics, battery placement and more. The midsize e-SUV will be a radical departure compared to the City, Amaze and Elevate that are currently on sale.

Honda has already drafted a packed product plan leading up to 2030. The company wants to roll out ten new vehicles in India – seven of which will be SUVs across various segments. Expect a new sub-Elevate compact SUV, a set of hybrid offerings and a few international models slightly retuned for Indian usage including the Prelude.

Honda-0-α-Alpha-EV-India.jpg

Honda is clearly hedging its bets by investing in multiple powertrain technologies rather than depending exclusively on pure EVs. It is no secret that Honda has missed a few opportunities in the early EV race – especially as rivals have been quick to gain a foothold. But the 0 Series Alpha could act as a reset button – a chance to rebuild its presence with a dedicated modular electric platform.

Alongside it, a new-generation City, a three-row midsize SUV and possibly an Elevate hybrid are expected to form the backbone of Honda’s next portfolio.

Delhi Pollution: GRAP-III Triggers Ban On BS3, BS4 Diesel Vehicles

Delhi Speed Limit

Delhi-NCR bans BS3, BS4 diesel vehicles as pollution reaches severe levels

Air quality in Delhi and its surrounding regions has once again deteriorated to hazardous levels, pushing the Air Quality Index (AQI) beyond 400. With pollution entering the ‘severe’ category, authorities have activated Stage III of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), prompting stricter measures across Delhi-NCR.

Under the latest directions from the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), BS3 and BS4 diesel vehicles have been temporarily barred from operating in Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad. The restrictions also apply to non-essential diesel-powered goods carriers and interstate buses that are not CNG-compliant. However, vehicles used by persons with disabilities have been exempted from these curbs.

Authorities have warned that violations of the ban may attract fines of up to Rs. 20,000. The restrictions will remain in force until the AQI falls below 400 and stays consistently under that threshold.

Top 10 Sedans Oct 2025 – Dzire, Aura, Amaze, Virtus, Slavia, Tigor

GaadiWaadi -

New-2025-Maruti-Suzuki-Dzire-4.jpg

In the month of October 2025, Maruti Suzuki Dzire continued to lead the sedan sales standings ahead of Hyundai Aura, Honda Amaze and VW Virtus

The sedan segment may not command the attention it once did but October 2025 offered a clear reminder that the body style still has loyal supporters. What stood out this month was how sharply the numbers swung between models. Some climbed with serious momentum while a few familiar nameplates continued to fade.

The overall ranking also stayed largely predictable though the gaps between cars told a different story. Leading the way by a massive margin, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire once again proved why it dominates Indian roads. With 20,791 units sold in October 2025, it posted a huge jump from the 12,698 units it managed a year ago – a 64 per cent year-on-year rise, the highest among the mass-market sedans.

The arrival of the new generation Dzire with a thoroughly overhauled exterior and interior along with the addition of new features and technologies, improved safety reaching full five stars in crash tests have played a key role in its sustained success over the last several months. A fair distance behind but firmly holding on to second place was the Hyundai Aura.

It recorded a domestic tally of 5,815 units, a notable improvement over last year’s 4,805 units. Its growth rate of 21 per cent was modest compared to the Dzire but steady enough for Hyundai to keep a solid foothold in the compact sedan space. The Honda Amaze followed next with 3,630 units in the month of October 2025.

While the figure may not be massive, the Amaze delivered a 52 per cent surge over the 2,393 units posted during the same period last year – showing that Honda’s entry-level sedan still retains good traction. But, the good numbers can be attributed to the festive season and the GST 2.0 associated price drop.

The midsize duo from Volkswagen and Skoda continued their close rivalry. The Virtus contributed 2,453 units – showing a mild 4 per cent rise compared to last year’s tally. The Slavia followed with 1,648 units – almost identical to its October 2024 performance of 1,637 units. Tata’s lone sedan, the Tigor, kept its numbers climbing.

It reached 1,196 units versus 926 in the previous year – translating to a 29 per cent rise, giving Tata a much-needed positive in a segment where the brand has often struggled. The situation was quite different for the Hyundai Verna and Honda City. The Verna fell to 824 units from 1,272 last year, a drop of 35 per cent, while the City declined even more sharply, slipping from 1,004 to 578 units with a 42 per cent fall. At the bottom of the list, the Toyota Camry managed 276 units compared to 176 units a year earlier – a healthy 57 per cent improvement for a niche hybrid sedan.

Tata Sierra To Get New 1.5-Litre Naturally Aspirated Petrol Engine

Tata Sierra Yellow

Tata Sierra to debut new 1.5-litre NA petrol for affordable entry trims

Tata Motors is preparing to introduce a new 1.5-litre naturally aspirated (NA) petrol engine with the upcoming Tata Sierra, aimed at making the SUV’s entry-level variants more accessible and fuel-efficient. The new powerplant is derived from Tata’s upcoming 1.5-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol engine, sharing much of its underlying architecture but adopting a simpler design for cost efficiency and reliability.

While the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo will power the higher-spec variants, the new NA version is expected to form the backbone of the Sierra’s sales. It will cater to buyers prioritising affordability and everyday usability over outright performance.

Mechanically, the new engine retains the same bore spacing, block, and head design as its turbocharged counterpart but swaps the turbo and direct-injection systems for port fuel injection. This helps lower production costs and improves efficiency, while also allowing Tata to offer the Sierra at a more competitive starting price.

The naturally aspirated unit is expected to deliver around 120 HP and 140 Nm, figures comparable to engines used in the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Maruti Grand Vitara. Tata engineers are reportedly focusing on achieving low NVH levels, strong fuel economy, and full E20 fuel compatibility.

In contrast, the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine – producing roughly 170 HP and 280 Nm – will serve as Tata’s flagship petrol motor, also powering the Harrier and Safari. It incorporates features such as variable geometry turbocharging and direct injection for stronger performance.

The Sierra will also be available with a 1.5-litre diesel engine, giving Tata a well-rounded powertrain lineup spanning efficiency-oriented petrols to performance-focused turbo units. This strategy positions Tata differently from Mahindra, which has leaned heavily into high-performance turbo engines across its portfolio.

With the new NA petrol option, the Sierra’s base variants are expected to launch at aggressive prices, potentially giving Tata a strong foothold in the midsize SUV segment. The Sierra could emerge as a key model for the brand – mirroring the impact the Nexon had in its category.

Tata Nexon CNG Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024 6

Tata posted a domestic tally of 61,134 units in October 2025 as against 48,133 units with a YoY growth of 27 per cent

Tata Motors ended the month of October 2025 with 61,134 units – a sizeable jump from the 48,133 units it managed a year ago as it finished third in the overall manufacturers’ sales standings with a market share of just over 13 per cent. The double-digit improvement translated to a year-on-year growth of 27 per cent – helped largely by consistent volume from the Nexon and Punch and unusually strong gains from models like the Tiago and Harrier.

Compared to September 2025, Tata posted a modest month-on-month rise of 2 per cent. The Nexon once again led the charge with 22,083 units with a massive 50 per cent jump over the 14,759 units sold in October last year. It did, however, record a slight slip compared to September’s 22,573 units – ending the month with a marginal 2 per cent drop.

The Punch followed with 16,810 units – up from 15,740 units a year earlier – delivering a 7 per cent gain and a healthy 6 per cent improvement over September’s 15,891 units. The Tiago compact hatchback nearly doubled its last year tally – rising from 4,682 units in October 2024 to 8,850 units this year – amounting to an 89 per cent year-on-year surge.

Its month-on-month numbers also grew by 6 per cent compared to September’s 8,322 units. The Altroz, meanwhile, delivered 3,770 units, improving 43 per cent from 2,642 units a year earlier but slipped 10 per cent against September’s 4,168 units. The arrival of the facelift has really helped in upping its volume figures.

The Tigor posted 1,196 units last month – up from 926 units in October last year which  resulted in a 29 per cent gain. It also rose 24 per cent when compared to September’s 966 units – making it one of the better month-to-month movers. In contrast, the Curvv struggled again. With only 1,432 units in October, it fell sharply from the 5,351 units it managed last year with a steep 73 per cent drop.

Even against September’s 1,566 units, it slipped by 9 per cent. The Harrier delivered one of the most dramatic turnarounds in Tata’s lineup. Its sales jumped from 1,947 units last year to 4,483 units this October with a massive 130 per cent boost. On a monthly basis, it climbed 7 per cent over September’s 4,181 units. The Safari also contributed positively – rising from 2,086 units last October to 2,510 units with a gain of 20 per cent.

Top 10 Hatchbacks Oct 2025 – Swift, WagonR, Baleno, Tiago, Glanza, i20

GaadiWaadi -

msga maruti swift accessories1

The table of top 10 hatchbacks in September 2025 saw Maruti Suzuki WagonR headed the way ahead of its siblings Baleno and Swift

The hatchback segment had an interesting turn out last month at least in som quarters. The biggest headline came from the Maruti Suzuki WagonR which once again proved why it is a mass-market favourite. It posted 18,970 units in October 2025 compared to 13,922 units last year, a massive 36 per cent jump as the GST 2.0 price drop could not have come at a better time.

Right behind it, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno stayed consistent with 16,873 units – only slightly higher than the 16,082 units it managed a year ago. The 5 per cent YoY growth isn’t dramatic but it reinforces that the premium hatchback has a loyal base. In contrast, the Maruti Suzuki Swift slipped to 15,542 units from 17,539 units last year with an 11 per cent drop.

The Tiago posted 8,850 units, up from just 4,682 units last year, resulting in a massive 89 per cent YoY sales surge as it had the highest YoY growth of them all. Its presence in the top five highlights that customers continue to value its safety-first build, affordability and expansive range. The Altroz also climbed strongly to 3,770 units compared to 2,642 units last year with a 43 per cent rise.

Toyota enjoyed one of its strongest months in this segment thanks to the Glanza. With 6,162 units this October versus 4,273 last year, the model grew by 44 per cent and it even beat Alto in the process for sixth position. Toyota’s reliability-driven image paired with Maruti’s proven mechanicals seems to be paying off.

The i20 also slipped sharply from 5,354 units to 4,023 units – a 25 percent drop as the Korean duo could only finish in the seventh and eighth positions respectively in October 2025.
