4 New Tata SUVs Launching Over The Next 3 Months In India

GaadiWaadi -

Tata Sierra EV

Tata Motors is expected to launch the petrol-powered version of the Harrier and Safari in the coming weeks

Tata Motors made a lot of headlines with the recent launch of the Sierra in the Indian market. Positioned in the mid-size SUV segment, the deliveries of the Sierra will commence next month. Meanwhile, the Indian carmaker is also preparing to launch multiple new SUVs in the coming months. In this article, we will look at 4 new Tata SUVs launching in the next 3 months.

1. Tata Harrier & Safari Petrol

The Harrier and Safari petrol have been long overdue and are expected to launch in the coming weeks. The brand’s flagship SUVs will get the new 1.5-litre Hyperion tGDi petrol motor, which debuted with the Sierra, producing 158 bhp and 255 Nm of peak torque.

The engine will be mated to a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox option. Apart from the petrol engine, the Harrier and Safari will continue as it is with no changes to the package. We expect the new petrol engine to reduce the price of the Harrier and Safari by around Rs. 1-1.5 lakh, depending on the variant.

2. Tata Punch Facelift

The Punch is now due for a mid-life facelift update. Expected to launch early next year, the updated micro-SUV has already been spotted testing on multiple occasions, giving away a few important details. The highlight of the Punch facelift will be its new exterior design, which will be shared with the Punch EV, albeit with minor changes here and there.

Inside the cabin, it will likely feature a new steering wheel, tweaks to the dashboard layout, a larger 10.25-inch infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster and more. Mechanically, the Punch Facelift will remain the same with a familiar 1.2-litre petrol engine under the hood, along with the CNG fuel option.

5+ New Budget-Friendly Maruti Suzuki Cars Arriving Over The Next 2 Years

GaadiWaadi -

Suzuki Vision e-Sky Electric Concept

Maruti Suzuki is working on multiple new models across different price points and segments over the next few years

Maruti Suzuki has an ambitious future roadmap with electrification sitting at the heart of its small car strategy. Rather than relying on incremental updates, the brand is developing an entirely new range of affordable models that will boast hybrid assistance, alternative fuels and electric mobility. Several projects spanning hatchbacks, compact SUVs and MPVs are likely under development.

One of the most talked about additions is a compact electric car inspired by the eWX concept. The small EV is expected to prioritise regular usability with a boxy silhouette engineered to maximise cabin space while keeping dimensions city-friendly. To be slotted as an entry-level electric offering, it could become Maruti Suzuki’s most accessible EV once it reaches production.

Alongside, a new micro SUV that will more likely slot into the fast growing sub-compact segment. Aimed squarely at rivals like the Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter, the five-seater is expected to feature rugged styling cues while keeping costs in check. Hybrid assistance is likely to play a role here – helping improve fuel economy without pushing prices too high.

Maruti-Suzuki-Fronx-ADAS-1.jpg

Maruti Suzuki is also believed to be working on a compact MPV that will sit below the Ertiga. Drawing inspiration from tall, space-efficient kei-style MPVs sold in global markets, this people-mover is expected to focus heavily on interior flexibility. A strong hybrid petrol setup is said to be central to its powertrain strategy.

Moving towards traditional hatchbacks, the next-gen Baleno is reportedly under development with a longer term launch timeline. Expected around 2027, the new Baleno should bring a redesigned exterior, a more premium interior and, crucially, a strong hybrid system. The configuration could use Maruti Suzuki’s Z-series petrol engine in a range-extender setup.

Interestingly, the Fronx update is not being treated as a minor refresh. Instead, it is expected to receive meaningful mechanical and feature upgrades aligned with international models. Advanced driver assistance systems could be introduced for the first time in India while hybrid technology may evolve from a mild-hybrid setup to a more appealing in-house solution later in its lifecycle.

Finally, Maruti Suzuki is said to be preparing an all-new entry-level car aimed at first-time buyers. It could focus on affordability and efficiency with reports suggesting compatibility with CNG, flex-fuel and hybrid-assisted petrol powertrains. The brand’s first EV, the e Vitara is set to launch next month, and it could be followed by a midsize e-MPV based on the Heartect-e architecture in late 2026 or early 2027 with a range of over 500 km.

EU Set To Roll Back 2035 Ban On New ICE Car Sales

Mercedes G450d India

EU reconsidering 2035 ICE ban, allowing continued combustion engine sales under limits

The European Union is preparing to withdraw its previously planned 2035 ban on the sale of new internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, marking a major shift in its long-term emissions strategy. The earlier mandate required a 100 percent reduction in tailpipe CO2 emissions for all new cars sold from 2035 onward, effectively forcing automakers to move entirely to electric vehicles or full hybridisation.

Under the revised proposal, manufacturers will now be expected to reduce fleet emissions by 90 percent instead of eliminating them entirely. This change opens the door for continued production and sale of ICE vehicles beyond 2035, provided they meet stricter efficiency and emissions requirements.

Germany has been a leading force behind the policy reversal, with Italy and several automakers also supporting a more flexible approach. The updated stance reflects concerns around job security, industrial stability and the economic impact of phasing out combustion engines entirely. Several EU policymakers argue that maintaining ICE production, alongside electrification, will help protect thousands of jobs linked to engine manufacturing and related supply chains.

The political bloc had also been under pressure from parts of the automotive industry that believe a complete shift to EVs by 2035 is unrealistic due to infrastructural challenges, uneven charging networks and the high cost of batteries. The revised target eases the transition curve, giving manufacturers more room to balance EV rollout with continued hybrid and combustion technologies.

A formal announcement from EU member governments is expected soon. If confirmed, the new framework indicates that Europe’s full transition to electric mobility will extend well beyond 2040, with ICE vehicles remaining part of the market mix for the foreseeable future.

Nissan Tekton will sit on the CMF-B platform and it will take on the likes of Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Tata Sierra, etc

Nissan has officially locked in February 2026 for the Indian debut of its upcoming midsize SUV – the Tekton – a crucial step in the brand’s revival strategy. Ahead of this, Nissan will launch the Gravite compact MPV in January with customer deliveries scheduled to begin in March 2026. Alongside these two models, the company already confirmed that a seven-seat SUV is under development for the domestic and global market.

Positioned to compete directly in the hotly contested midsize SUV space, the Nissan Tekton will take on established rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Kia Seltos, Mahindra Scorpio N, Tata Sierra and the likes. The SUV will be unveiled at Nissan’s brand resurgence event in February 2026 and is expected to play a key role in rebuilding the company’s presence in India.

Under the skin, the Tekton will share its underpinnings with the next-gen Renault Duster. It will be based on the CMF-B platform, a modern architecture that has been extensively localised for Indian conditions while meeting global safety standards. Production will take place at the Renault-Nissan Alliance facility in Chennai. The same platform will also support additional body styles in the future including a three-row SUV planned for FY2027.

Nissan Tekton (2)

On the design front, the Tekton channels cues from Nissan’s larger global SUVs. The upright proportions, squared-off silhouette and muscular stance are inspired by the Nissan Patrol. At the front, it will feature a muscular grille design, C-shaped LED headlamps and a sculpted bonnet while the rear will sport a full-width LED light strip, integrated spoiler and prominent Tekton badging.

Although Nissan has not revealed the interior yet, the cabin highlights will more likely include a large touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital driver display, soft-touch surfaces and a suite of advanced driver assistance features. It may also get ventilated seats, powered tailgate, wireless charging, automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof and six airbags.

Powertrain details remain under wraps but the Tekton is expected to arrive initially with turbo petrol engine options paired with both manual and automatic gearboxes. A strong-hybrid version could be introduced at a later stage and select higher variants may offer an all-wheel drive system.
