Tata Motors Gears Up For New SUV Launches – Punch Facelift To Sierra EV

Tata Motors to launch as many as five new SUVs in the next four months, covering both ICE and pure electric categories

Addressing the Indian market’s growing preference for SUVs, Tata Motors is aggressively expanding and regularly refreshing its SUV portfolio. The company plans to launch four new SUVs in quick succession in the coming months.

1&2. Tata Harrier petrol and Tata Safari petrol

Tata Motors has relied on the Fiat-developed 2.0-litre Kryotec turbocharged diesel engine for its Harrier and Safari twins for years now. Finally, this month, it will introduce an indigenously developed 1.5-litre Hyperion turbocharged petrol engine in these models.

Tata Harrier Petrol (3)

The Hyperion engine Tata Motors will offer in the Harrier and Safari will have a different tuning compared to the one it uses in the Sierra. The retuned engine will produce 125 kW (168 bhp) at 5,000 rpm and 280 Nm of torque at 1,750-3,500 rpm. Unlike in the Sierra, the company will offer it not only with a 6-speed automatic transmission but also with a 6-speed manual transmission.

3. New Tata Punch

The Tata Punch, one of the company’s highest-selling models, will undergo a facelift soon. Spy shots have revealed that the facelifted Punch will have new, LED split headlamps similar to the Punch.ev, a new front grille, and a restyled front bumper. New 16-inch alloy wheels, tweaked tail lamps, and a revised rear bumper may also be among the exterior changes.

The new Punch will feature some enhancements on the inside, too, and spy shots have already confirmed one of these changes – a two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated brand logo. Tata Motors may introduce ventilated seats and a 360º camera system in the Punch to improve comfort and safety. The company is expected to launch the new Punch by next month.

4. Tata Sierra.ev

By March, Tata Motors will likely launch the pure electric variant of the Sierra – the Sierra.ev. The Sierra.ev will have several design changes aimed at reducing drag, such as a covered upper grille, a sleeker lower grille, a new front bumper, and exclusive alloy wheels. Inside, the dashboard displays will include EV-specific functions, and the colour scheme will likely be different.

The Tata Punch.ev will offer more utility with a vehicle-to-load (V2L) bi-directional charging function that allows customers to power external equipment using energy stored in the traction battery pack. It will also offer more off-road capability with an optionally available all-wheel drive drivetrain layout. Tata Motors will roll out AWD in the ICE Sierra next year, but the Sierra.ev should still be more capable off the road, thanks to a torquier and silent powertrain.

5. New Tata Punch.ev

The Tata Punch.ev has found limited takers, and besides expensiveness, limited range could be the reason behind that. Priced from 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom), it delivers a range of 265 or 365 kilometres. Realistically, Tata Motors expects the range to be just 190-210 kilometres or 270-290 kilometres.

The new Tata Punch.ev should be more about technical upgrades than cosmetic changes, aimed at offering more practicality. We expect increased range and reduced charging speeds to be the key improvements in this model, which could be launched by April.

2 New Maruti Suzuki SUVs To Be Launched In Coming Months

GaadiWaadi -

2026 Maruti Brezza (1)

SUVs to remain key focus for India’s top carmaker as it looks for further growth and recapturing lost market share

Maruti Suzuki’s new product launches this year will commence with a premium SUV. The company has also lined up a more economical SUV for launch a few months later, targeting more value-focused customers.

The first new model this year will be the Maruti e Vitara, the company’s first pure electric car. Maruti Suzuki had initially planned to bring its first EV to the market in 2020, but after multiple delays, it will finally achieve this milestone six years later.

Maruti Suzuki developed the e Vitara from the ground up on an EV platform, which allowed it to give more interior space in smaller dimensions. The e Vitara is 4,275 mm long, 1,800 mm wide, and 1,640 mm tall. It is 70 mm shorter than the Grand Vitara, and yet it offers a 100 mm longer wheelbase – spanning 2,700 mm.

The e Vitara will be available in two single-motor FWD configurations, one with 105.8 kW (142 hp) and 192.5 Nm of torque and one with 128 kW (172 bhp) and 192.5 Nm of torque. The former will depend on a 49 kWh LFP battery pack and the latter will use a 61 kWh LFP battery pack. Maruti Suzuki says the e Vitara will be able to travel up to 543 kilometres on a single charge. How much of that figure translates into real-world capability remains to be seen.

Maruti Suzuki will offer the e Vitara with attractive features like 18-inch alloy wheels, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, front seats with a 10-way power adjustment for the driver and a ventilation function, and a 40:20:40-split sliding and reclining rear seat. The company will equip it with a host of Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems and seven airbags.

Renault India To Implement Price Hike Of Up To 2% From January 2026

Renault Kiger teaser front

Renault India announces up to 2 percent price hike effective January 2026

Renault India has announced a price increase of up to 2 percent across its entire vehicle range, effective January 2026. The revision will apply selectively depending on the model and variant and is attributed to rising input costs and broader macroeconomic pressures impacting the automotive industry.

The Indian arm of Renault Group stated that the price adjustment is part of a broader effort to manage increasing operational expenses while continuing to operate sustainably in a challenging cost environment. While the exact hike will vary across the lineup, no specific rupee-wise increase has been disclosed.

Despite the upcoming revision, Renault has reiterated its intention to remain competitive in the Indian market, with a continued focus on delivering value-driven products and maintaining service quality. The announcement aligns with similar price actions taken by multiple automakers in recent months, reflecting an industry-wide response to higher material costs and supply chain pressures.

Buyers planning to purchase a Renault vehicle may benefit from completing their bookings before the revised prices come into effect in January 2026.

Renault India currently offers three models positioned across key mass-market segments, all focused on affordability and practicality.

Kia India Closes 2025 With 2.80 Lakh+ Units & Record December Sales

GaadiWaadi -

2024 kia sonet-16

Total volume sales of Kia for 2025 stood at 2,80,286 units with a healthy 15 per cent rise on a YoY basis

Kia India wrapped up CY2025 on a high by posting its strongest annual performance since entering the domestic market. Its total wholesale volumes for the year stood at 2,80,286 units with a healthy 15 per cent rise over the 2.45 lakh units recorded in CY2024. The sustained growth indicates the brand’s acceptance among Indian buyers – supported by a product lineup that addresses customers across multiple segments.

The closing month of the calendar year proved to be particularly significant for the company. December 2025 turned out to be Kia India’s best-ever December with wholesales touching 18,659 units. It represented a sharp 105 per cent year-on-year jump when compared to the 8,957 units dispatched during the same period the previous year.

A major contributor to this performance was the Kia Sonet which once again crossed the one lakh unit sales milestone during the year. Achieving this feat for the second consecutive year, the compact SUV continued to anchor Kia’s volumes in one of India’s most competitive segments. The Sonet’s consistent demand was complemented by contributions from the Seltos.

The South Korean brand’s wider portfolio also witnessed good reception. Models such as the Carens, Carens Clavis and the Carens Clavis EV received a positive response from customers according to the brand. At the premium end, the fourth-gen Carnival Limousine and the EV6 helped draw interest from buyers. Looking ahead, Kia is optimistic about sustaining this momentum into 2026.

The recently debuted second generation Seltos is expected to play a central role in driving future volumes backed by the continued strength of established nameplates like the Sonet and Carens range. The official price list of the new Seltos will be revealed tomorrow in India and it gets a host of revisions inside and out, and is based on the global K3 architecture.

In addition to its product push, Kia India also focused heavily on expanding its retail and service reach. During CY2025, the company extended its nationwide footprint to 369 cities, operating through a total of 821 touchpoints. Speaking about the performance and outlook, Atul Sood, Senior Vice President Sales & Marketing said,

2025 was a year of consistent and sustainable growth for Kia India, driven by strategic product introductions like the Carens Clavis and Carens Clavis EV, trim optimization across key mass-selling models including the Seltos, Carens and Sonet; operational efficiencies, and continuous improvements across sales, service, and customer engagement.
