Maruti Brezza Facelift To Be Launched Soon – What To Expect?

GaadiWaadi -

New Maruti Brezza

Facing strong competition from the recently launched second-gen Hyundai Venue and the hot-selling Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza to undergo a comprehensive refresh this year

Launched in June 2022, the Maruti Brezza has been on the market now for nearly four years and is due for a facelift. Maruti Suzuki is working on this much-anticipated update and will roll it out in the coming months.

The compact SUV segment has progressed rapidly in terms of styling and technology since the Brezza’s launch in 2022. Newer rivals, including the second-gen Hyundai Venue launched last year, have raised the bar, and Maruti Suzuki is expected to bring meaningful upgrades in both areas to catch up with the competition.

The facelifted Maruti Brezza is likely to feature redesigned bumpers, revised headlamp and tail lamp graphics, and new 16-inch alloy wheels. Maruti Suzuki may also offer one or two new exterior colours further to distinguish the updated version from the current model.

Inside, the new Maruti Brezza could have more substantial improvements, both aesthetically and functionally. It could feature a redesigned dashboard, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system instead of the current model’s 9-inch unit, a fully digital instrument cluster instead of the current model’s semi-digital unit, ventilated front seats with electric adjustment on the driver side, and ambient lighting.

Maruti Suzuki may also level up on the safety front in the Brezza with the upcoming refresh, introducing Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems. The availability of these functions could be limited to the top trim, though.

While the current Brezza is only available with 1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre petrol-CNG engine options, the new Brezza is likely to be offered with a new turbocharged petrol engine option as well. The new turbocharged engine could be the long-rumoured 1.2-litre unit, potentially a derivative of the Z12E naturally aspirated mill from the Swift and Dzire.

Maruti Suzuki already has a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine in its portfolio, which it currently uses in the Fronx. However, at least in its current, 73.6 kW (99 hp)/147.6 Nm state of tune, it may not be a meaningful upgrade.

Spy shots suggest that Maruti Suzuki will introduce a new 6-speed manual transmission option in the Brezza with the facelift. The company offers the current model with a choice of 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions, with the latter exclusive to the petrol engine. It may offer the new 6-speed manual transmission only with the new turbocharged petrol engine.

New Renault Duster (11)

European and Japanese automakers to flood the Indian market with six new mid-size SUV models by April this year

2026 is the year of new mid-size SUVs, with the all-new Kia Seltos, all-new Tata Sierra, and Maruti e-Vitara put on sale recently, and six more models scheduled to arrive in showrooms in the coming months. The upcoming mid-size SUVs will consist of both ICE and electric models.

1. Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella

Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella 1

The Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella is simply a badge-engineered version of the Maruti e-Vitara. It is differentiated with a more restrained front-end, which incorporates Toyota’s signature hammerhead shark-inspired design, most evident in the sleek nose and the sleek headlamps. It will be launched in the same 440-kilometre and 543-kilometre FWD variants, likely later this month, with prices starting at around 16 lakh rupees (ex-showroom).

The new Skoda Kushaq brings a sharper and more technical-looking design, along with a host of new features such as rear-seat massage, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a panoramic sunroof. Inside, expect a different colour scheme and a few software changes to the displays. The Sierra.ev will likely be available in single-motor RWD and dual-motor AWD variants, with the former delivering a range of around 550 kilometres. It will be revealed in March and could be launched in April.

5. Nissan Tekton

The Nissan Tekton will be a corporate cousin of the all-new Renault Duster, featuring a unique exterior with sharper lines and a clear influence of the seventh-gen Nissan Patrol. It will be the same vehicle mechanically and also in terms of features, but it is likely to come at a slightly higher price. Nissan will likely reveal the Tekton in March and launch it in April.

6. New VW Taigun

The Volkswagen Taigun will get a facelift likely in April and come with changes similar to the new Skoda Kushaq. Redesigned headlamps, new bumpers, several new 16- and 17-inch wheel options, rear-seat massage, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a panoramic sunroof should be among the main cosmetic upgrades. Like in the Skoda model, the 6-speed automatic transmission will be replaced by an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Tata To Introduce BaaS Scheme To More EVs To Garner High Volumes

GaadiWaadi -

New tata Punch EV (8)

Tata Motors has plans to scale up its BaaS ownership plan following the introduction of such scheme in the Punch EV facelift

In a bid to accelerate EV sales at the affordable end of the market, Tata Motors has plans to scale up its battery subscription ownership plan. It is projected to make entry-level EVs more attainable for buyers shopping below Rs. 12 lakh – a segment that accounts for massive annual sales volumes but still contributes only a tiny fraction to the country’s EV penetration.

Under this flexible purchase scheme, customers can either pay the full ex-showroom cost up front or opt for a reduced purchase price – coupled with a usage-linked battery fee. For example, the recently launched Punch EV facelift is listed at Rs. 9.69 lakh while the subscription format drops the initial price to Rs. 6.49 lakh.

For battery usage, a rental charge of Rs. 2.6 should be paid per kilometre. The company believes this format can help neutralise key obstacles that often discourage first-time EV owners such as higher acquisition costs, uncertainty about driving range and taxation differences compared with petrol cars. Since India’s lower price bands collectively generate over 30 lakh passenger vehicle sales each year, a small change toward electrification could acts as a major volume puller.

2023 tata nexon ev facelift-35

At present, about 10 per cent of buyers selecting compact small SUV lineup choose the electric version while cleaner propulsion options including CNG variants represent over 40 per cent of total demand. Internal projections suggest the electric share alone could climb into the 15 to 20 per cent range in the near future before potentially reaching close to a third by 2030.

Encouragingly, certain regions have demonstrated increasing acceptance than the national average. Cities such as Jaipur and states like Kerala have reported adoption levels approaching 30 to 40 per cent for cleaner technologies indicating that supportive infrastructure and awareness can dramatically influence purchasing behaviour.

Tata expects that the introduction of larger battery options will further consolidate demand by improving usability for longer trips between cities. In the foresight, the automaker intends to introduce the subscription-based battery approach across more electric models while also developing future products from the outset as EV-only offerings.

Royal Enfield’s First EV To Launch In The Coming Months – All Key Info

GaadiWaadi -

Royal Enfield Flying Flea C68

Royal Enfield Flying Flea C6 is underpinned by all-new modular ‘L’ platform and it will be packed with premium features

Royal Enfield revealed the Flying Flea C6 at the 2024 EICMA in Italy besides previewing the scrambler version which made its debut a year later. Following its showcase, the Chennai-based brand displayed the FF-C6 in multiple cities across the country. The motorcycle has also been spotted testing multiple times on public roads prompting the speculations that it could be launched before the end of this calendar year.

At the heart of the upcoming electric motorcycle is an electronics suite driven by processors from Qualcomm and supported by control hardware supplied by NXP Semiconductors. Together, they enable constant communication between systems allowing the motorcycle to monitor performance variables and fine-tune responses such as acceleration delivery, braking feel and energy recuperation in real time according to the brand.

As for the design, the Flying Flea C6 fuses nostalgic styling with a leaned out construction. Its profile is narrow and uncluttered, highlighted by a stepped seat, dark alloy rims and a full set of LED lamps. Instead of telescopic front suspension, it employs a girder-type assembly made from forged aluminium – chosen for improved stiffness and precise handling characteristics.

The frame and battery enclosure also emphasise lightweight engineering. A magnesium casing houses the energy pack while sculpted fins extending from both ends converge toward the centre to form a wing-inspired motif that doubles as a structural and aesthetic element. Riders interact with a round digital interface that echoes vintage gauges.

But integrates modern connectivity, navigation data and vehicle information. Wireless access, remote monitoring and software updates are all expected to be part of the package. RE had previously indicated that additional battery-driven models are under development for Indian as well as global markets as an electrified Himalayan and Flying Flea S6 will also arrive in the near future.

Close-To-Production Mahindra Vision S Compact SUV Spied Testing Again

GaadiWaadi -

Mahindra Vision S (4)

Mahindra Vision S concept is expected to give rise to a compact SUV sitting between the XUV 3XO and Scorpio N as early as 2027

Underneath, the upcoming Vision S–based compact SUV will rely on a newly developed NU_IQ unibody platform which is designed to support multiple future utility vehicles. It denotes a departure from the body-on-frame construction used in several existing offerings from Mahindra as it moves towards more compact packaging.

Recent test sightings of the Vision S indicate the exterior styling will be largely reminiscent of the Scorpio N but in a more compact form carrying a boxy and upright theme. Visible traits on camouflaged prototypes include angular window frames, muscular wheel arch housings, a vintage spare wheel mounted on the tailgate and thick pillars.

In terms of its placement within the range, the forthcoming entrant is expected to occupy the space between the larger Scorpio N and the smaller XUV 3XO. Despite its tough stance, its overall proportions look to be more compact than the Scorpio N which should make it easier to handle in tight city environments while still projecting SUV presence.

Mahindra Vision S (3)

Powertrain options for the production version are likely to be borrowed from the XUV 3XO’s existing engine catalogue. The most powerful option could be the 1.2-litre TGDi petrol engine kicking out a class-leading 131 hp and 230 Nm of torque. The 1.5-litre diesel mill products around 117 hp and a segment-best 300 Nm of torque in the XUV 3XO.

Both engines could be coupled with a six-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter automatic while an AMT could be offered in the diesel trim. Cabin glimpses so far have given away the presence of a semi-digital instrument display in the mid-level trims with a coloured information screen and grab handles for rear passengers along with a panoramic sunroof, a touchscreen infotainment unit, cruise control, adjustable headrests, folding rear armrest, etc in the higher-spec versions.

Mahindra Vision S (5)

The Vision S was revealed alongside three other concepts and the NU_IQ platform last year. The production iteration forms a major part of the brand’s product expansion roadmap that is said to include additional body styles such as a pickup inspired by the Scorpio N and an electric SUV influenced by the Thar Roxx.
