TVS has committed Rs 3,500 crore investment on the back of good reception for its Apache and iQube range as production will be substantially scaled up

Norton Motorcycles is finally getting the push it has been waiting for. TVS Motor Company is preparing to accelerate the British brand’s development as part of a Rs 3,500 crore investment plan for FY27 – an aggressive annual capital deployment in recent memory. Several new Norton motorcycles are currently under development with select models expected to be manufactured at TVS’s Hosur facility in India while engineering and certain production activities continue from the Solihull plant in the UK.

The Norton plans sit within a much larger strategic offensive. Of the Rs 3,500 crore earmarked for FY27, approximately Rs 2,000 crore will go toward new product development and advanced engineering programmes while over Rs 1,000 crore is directed at manufacturing infrastructure and capacity expansion. The remaining investment will help consolidate R&D facilities, testing operations and technological capabilities across the organisation.

As for production, TVS intends to add nearly 1.5 million units of annual manufacturing capacity over the next 12 months – taking total installed capacity to approximately 8.3 million units per year. The headroom is needed as the company crossed global annual sales of 5.9 million units recently and with both domestic and export demand holding up, the gap between current capacity and future ambition needs to be closed quickly.

The iQube has been central to TVS’s success and continues to gain ground in the domestic market. Monthly EV production has already reached around 40,000 units and the company is targeting a push toward 50,000 units per month as demand strengthens. In April 2026, TVS sold 37,661 electric 2Ws for the month with a 96 per cent year-on-year surge that gave it a 25 per cent share of the electric two-wheeler market and the top position in the segment.

The financial results backing this expansion are equally strong. FY26 consolidated revenue reached Rs 47,270 crore while net profit rose to Rs 3,615 crore. The January to March 2026 quarter saw consolidated profit jump 19 per cent to Rs 771.52 crore – a quarterly print that gives TVS the earnings foundation to fund the scale of investment it is now committing to.

Geopolitical tensions in West Asia have created shipping disruptions that have exerted influence on logistics costs and delivery timelines across Africa, Latin America and Asia. Despite that TVS management has noted that underlying demand in export markets remains stable. Meanwhile, increasing commodity costs are a huge risk on the horizon as well.

Wuling starlight 560 (9)

The Wuling Starlight 560 is sold with plug-in-hybrid and all-electric powertrain options in the international markets

Wuling Starlight 560, the China-spec full-size SUV, has been spotted testing on the Indian roads. It was captured on camera near MG Motor India’s Halol production facility in Gujarat with temporary GJ 17 registration plates. For those asking, the British brand MG Motor is owned by the China based SAIC Motor and hence, in the near coming few months, we will see the Starlight 560 launching in India with MG branding. The plug-in-hybrid version of the SUV will be positioned between the Hector and Gloster in the Indian market with prices likely to fall in the bracket of Rs 22-25 lakh (ex-showroom).

The spy images reveal the silhouette, front and rear profile of the SUV. Upfront, the three-row SUV flaunts horizontal LED headlamps with DRLs, higher bonnet and a sporty bumper while the side profile resembles that of an MPV. The design patent of the Starlight 560 has already been filed in India by the brand. Underpinned by the Tianyu D architecture, it measures more than 4.7 metres in length, which makes it longer than the MG Hector, Mahindra XUV 7XO and Tata Safari.

The SUV measures 1850 mm in width while the height is pegged at 1755 mm. It has a wheelbase of 2810 mm. The cabin will be loaded with a plethora of bells and whistles in the form of all-digital instrument cluster, 180-degree reclining front seats, panoramic sunroof, leatherette upholstery, connected car tech with OTA updates, 360-degree camera and 2.8-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system.

The global-spec model of the Wuling Starlight 560 is available in plug-in-hybrid and all-electric powertrain options. The former comes with a 1.5L petrol engine and 20.5 kWh battery pack, while the latter is an out-and-out EV with a 56.7 kWh battery pack at the helm. The plug-in-hybrid version also delivers a pure electric range of 125 km. The SUV can run up to 1100 on a full tank, including the pure electric range of 125 km.

15+ Upcoming Mahindra SUVs You Should Know About – ICE & EVs

GaadiWaadi -

Mahindra NU_IQ Platform

The pipeline of upcoming SUVs from Mahindra will comprise 16 new models by 2031 including Vision S based baby Scorpio N, Rall E, flagship BE.07 And more

Mahindra has significantly expanded its product ambitions since the original 2024 roadmap. What started as a plan for nine ICE vehicles and seven EVs by 2030 has been revised upward to 16 launches by 2031 – 10 ICE models and six EVs. Of the original target, over half has already been achieved with five ICE models and four electric vehicles launched in the past two years alone.

The XUV 3XO, Thar Roxx, XUV 7XO, Bolero facelift and Bolero Neo facelift cover the ICE side while the BE 6, XEV 9e, XEV 9S and XUV 3XO EV represent the electric additions. Of the 10 ICE products, nine will be entirely new nameplates with one mid-cycle update – widely expected to be the revised Scorpio N.

The majority of these new models will ride on Mahindra’s NU_IQ monocoque platform, unveiled in August 2025 alongside four concept SUVs – the Vision S, Vision X, Vision T and Vision SXT. Production versions of these concepts will slot in the mass market segments looking to appeal to a wide customer base with the first expected to arrive as early as next year.

Mahindra-Vision-S-2.jpg

The Vision S-inspired sub-four-metre SUV is among the more immediate arrivals based on the NU_IQ monocoque chassis. Spotted testing on multiple occasions, it will sit above the XUV 3XO in the lineup and is expected around early 2027. The Vision X concept is also expected to spawn a compact crossover further down the road which could replace the XUV 3XO.

On the ICE update front, the three-door Thar is due for a refresh with styling cues borrowed from the Thar Roxx and a more feature-loaded cabin as seen in spy pictures. The Scorpio N facelift, meanwhile, will bring subtle exterior revisions and interior upgrades while retaining its 2.0-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines unchanged.

Mahindra Vision X (1)

The Rall E – a rugged off-road derivative of the BE 6 – is under development on the same INGLO platform bringing a taller stance, increased ground clearance, chunkier tyres and pronounced body cladding to the born-electric formula. It has already been previewed via concept. The BE.07, measuring 4.6 metres, is slated for a 2027 launch as the flagship of Mahindra’s electric range, sitting above the BE 6.

An electric Thar is also in development but no launch timeline has been confirmed. The INGLO platform’s cumulative sales have already crossed 50,000 units since launch – a number that gives Mahindra the commercial foundation and the confidence to push further and faster on the electric front than the original 2024 roadmap had envisioned. The XUV 7XO, the most recent ICE addition, has also found buyers quickly since its introduction.

Royal Enfield Debuts Himalayan 450 Based Sherpa FT Mk2 Flat Tracker

GaadiWaadi -

Royal Enfield Sherpa FT Mk2

Royal Enfield Sherpa FT Mk2 draws its engine from the same 452 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder unit that powers the Himalayan 450 and Guerrilla 450

Gary Birtwistle showed early promise at the opening round in Roden, Netherlands before a retirement in one of the qualifying heats ended his chances of reaching the final – leaving the two-time British national flat track champion with a 20th place overall finish on Royal Enfield’s debut in the FIM Flat Track World Championship.

Royal Enfield’s entry into the series comes on the back of being ranked the world’s third strongest automotive brand in the Brand Finance Automotive Industry 2026 report – a recognition that shows the growing international stature of a manufacturer that has been building its global presence steadily over the past decade.

Motorsport participation has long been part of that strategy and the flat track championship adds a new competitive dimension to what has been an increasingly ambitious programme from the Chennai-based brand. The machine at the centre of this debut is the Sherpa FT Mk2 – a purpose-built flat track racer drawing its engine from the same 452 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder unit that powers the Himalayan 450 and Guerrilla 450 on the road.

Royal-Enfield-Sherpa-FT-Mk2-2.jpg

Full performance figures have not been released but the race specification is expected to produce considerably more power than its street counterparts given the demands of the discipline. The chassis and running gear are purpose built rather than derived from the road.

Birtwistle is a fierce competitor with extensive experience across Europe and the United States. Beyond his two British national flat track titles, he is a three-time Twins Championship winner including races aboard a Harris-framed Royal Enfield 797cc twin and the founder of the Dirt Craft race school. His familiarity with the Royal Enfield platform makes him a logical choice for this campaign.

Royal Enfield Sherpa FT Mk2 1

The 2026 FIM Flat Track World Championship runs to ten rounds across eight countries – significantly expanded from the six-round calendar of previous years. With nine rounds remaining, Royal Enfield and Birtwistle have enough time and opportunity to develop the Sherpa FT Mk2, accumulate data and work toward competitive results as the season builds.

The extended calendar is as much an advantage for a new entrant learning the series as it is a challenge in terms of sustained commitment. Royal Enfield’s involvement in the championship is a significant development for a series that has been gaining momentum with manufacturers, riders and fans and that the brand’s long history and global standing bring additional credibility.

2027 Kia Sonet Spotted Testing For The First Time

2027 Kia Sonet Spotted

The next generation Kia Sonet has been seen testing for the first time, offering an early look at what could be a more evolved version of Kia’s popular subcompact SUV. Although the test mule is heavily camouflaged, a few styling cues and expected upgrades indicate a shift towards a more premium and spacious package.

Spy images suggest the new Sonet could adopt styling elements from the larger Kia Seltos. The grille appears wider and more integrated with the headlamps, giving it a broader stance. The lighting setup seems inspired by the latest Hyundai Venue with distinct LED daytime running lights placed above the main headlamp units.

The front bumper looks cleaner than before, though subtle creases on the bonnet add some aggression. New alloy wheel designs align with Kia’s newer models. A sunroof is visible in the test car, though it remains unclear whether Kia will introduce a panoramic unit or retain a single-pane setup.

A key change expected with the new Sonet is its move to the K1 platform, which also underpins newer compact models within the Hyundai-Kia group. This shift could address one of the current model’s main drawbacks, limited rear seat space.

The updated architecture is also likely to support improved safety standards. With related models already achieving high ratings in crash tests, Kia may target a stronger safety score for the upcoming Sonet.

Inside, the next gen Sonet is expected to receive a redesigned dashboard with a more minimal and premium layout. Larger dual 12.3-inch displays for infotainment and instrumentation are likely to be introduced, bringing it in line with newer offerings from the brand.

Feature additions could include improved materials and enhanced tech. However, the inclusion of advanced driver assistance systems remains uncertain at this stage.

Mechanically, the new Sonet is expected to retain its existing engine lineup initially. This would include petrol and diesel options paired with both manual and automatic transmissions.

Looking ahead, Kia is also developing a strong hybrid powertrain based on a small petrol engine. This hybrid variant could be introduced after the model’s launch, potentially expanding the Sonet’s appeal in a fuel-efficiency focused market.

Skoda is selling its Kodiaq, Slavia, Kushaq And Kylaq with notable discounts in May 2026 and here we have explained them

In the month of May 2026, Skoda offers are devised around clearing older stock at the top of the range while keeping incentives a bit modest on the latest models. Recently, Skoda introduced the updated Kodiaq in India with feature additions such as ADAS. The pre-facelift Kushaq follows at up to Rs 2,50,000 in combined benefits – Rs 2 lakh cash and Rs 50,000 exchange. The latest Kushaq, by contrast, carries only up to Rs 40,000 in benefits through exchange and corporate channels with no cash discount on the current model year.

Mahindra is offering discounts on XUV 400, BE 6, XEV 9e, Thar Roxx, XUV 3XO, Scorpio and Bolero Neo in May 2026 in India

The most significant numbers in Mahindra’s May 2026 offer sheet are at the electric end of the domestic range. The XUV 400 EV in EC Pro and EL Pro variants carries a Rs 2.5 lakh cash discount. The e-SUV has been enduring tough times in garnering sales due to the arrival of INGLO platform based dedicated skateboard EVs – XEV 9e, XEV 9S and BE 6.

The Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e MY2025 stock is similarly being moved at notable discounts – Rs 2 lakh and Rs 1.4 lakh cash respectively. Both are limited to the previous model year inventory and will not last long given how quickly Mahindra’s EV volumes have been building as both are amongst the top-selling EVs in the country.

Consumers who act quickly on either of these can get into the new-age EV lineup at a noticeably lower price than the current MY2026 asking rate but the availability could be extremely limited. On the ICE front, the Thar Roxx leads with the strongest combined package at up to Rs 1,10,000 – Rs 85,000 cash and Rs 25,000 in accessories.
