Upcoming Tata Sierra EV To Be Feature Rich & Tech Loaded – All Key Details

GaadiWaadi -

Tata Sierra EV

Tata Sierra EV is one of the three new EV launches confirmed by the brand in 2026 alongside the new Punch EV and Avinya

Tata Motors has been rigorously testing the upcoming Sierra EV on Indian roads. Camouflaged prototypes have been spotted multiple times, confirming that validation is underway ahead of its early 2026 launch. The electric Sierra will play a crucial role in Tata’s next phase of EV expansion – sitting alongside upcoming launches such as the facelifted Punch EV and the brand’s first Avinya-based model in 2026.

While the overall silhouette will remain familiar, the Sierra EV will receive a range of electric-specific exterior updates. At the front, the SUV is expected to feature a closed-off grille flanked by a full-width LED daytime running light bar. Split headlamp units, a revised bumper design with darker inserts and a skid plate will add to its overall appearance.

Viewed from the side, the Sierra EV will continue to showcase its boxy proportions, pronounced shoulder lines and squared wheel arches. Key highlights are expected to include flush door handles, newly designed alloy wheels and the iconic Sierra window treatment. At the rear, Tata will offer a connected LED light strip, a clean tailgate layout and subtle EV badging to distinguish it from the ICE model.

Step inside and the Sierra EV is expected to push Tata’s in-car technology further. The cabin layout will closely mirror the combustion-powered Sierra but with a stronger emphasis on digital interfaces. A triple-screen dashboard setup will take centre stage, comprising a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen and a dedicated display for the front passenger.

Premium upholstery, layered dashboard textures, ambient lighting and a panoramic glass roof will be other additions. In terms of features, the Sierra EV is tipped to be one of Tata’s most technologically advanced SUVs to date. Level 2 ADAS, connected car tech, a premium sound system, powered front seats, dual-zone climate control and a comprehensive safety suite are expected on higher trims.

The electric Sierra will share its battery packs with the Harrier EV. The larger battery is expected to deliver a real-world range of over 500 km while support for DC fast charging and bi-directional charging is also anticipated. The new ICE Sierra has already generated massive momentum even before the EV’s official unveiling.

GaadiWaadi -

New Tata Punch (2)

Mahindra will introduce a new model in the compact SUV segment in the form of the Vision S, which is expected to go on sale sometime next year

The market share of SUVs is expected to grow further in the coming years, fueled by the rising demand, along with fresh product launches. In line with this, top car manufacturers in India, including Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Mahindra, Hyundai and Kia, are working on new SUVs for the sub-4-meter segment. Let’s look at the new compact SUV launches in the coming years.

1. Maruti Suzuki Brezza Facelift

Scheduled for a launch this year, the Brezza facelift has already been spotted testing in India. The updated SUV will get minor cosmetic tweaks to the exterior design, along with a few changes to the interiors. As per the reports, the new Brezza could likely get new features, including Level 2 ADAS, which will put it on par with the rivals.

The CNG-powered version of the Brezza could feature an underbody CNG tank, leveraging more boot space. Under the hood, the compact SUV will likely continue with the familiar 1.5-litre K15C petrol engine, paired to a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

2. Tata Punch Facelift

Tata Motors is ready to launch the Punch facelift in the Indian market on January 13. The best-selling car in the brand’s line-up will feature an updated exterior design with a new set of LED headlamps, sleek LED DRLs, a connected tail lamp setup, tweaked bumpers, and a new set of alloy wheels.

The first teaser shared by the company highlights the presence of a 360-degree parking camera and ADAS radar. The cabin will likely get a new steering wheel, 10.25-inch infotainment system, digital instrument cluster and more. Under the hood, the familiar 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine will continue to power the Punch facelift, available in both petrol and CNG fuel options.

The Vision S will be the first model to go on sale among the four Vision concept SUVs showcased last year in August. Based on the NU_IQ platform, it will likely be a part of the Scorpio nameplate. The test mule of the compact SUV has already been spotted testing in its near-production guise, sporting a boxy and upright stance, hinting at a market launch sometime in 2027. The Vision S will likely be powered by petrol and diesel engines, with front-wheel-drive configurations as standard. It could also get all-wheel drive (AWD) as an option.

4. New-Gen Tata Nexon

The new-gen Nexon is currently under development, and it is expected to go on sale in 2027. Internally codenamed ‘Garud’, the compact SUV will continue to be underpinned by the familiar X1 platform, albeit with major structural changes. The new-gen Tata Nexon will likely sport a new exterior design, in line with the latest crop of Tata cars. The interiors will also undergo a major overhaul with new feature additions. Talking about the powertrain, the current petrol, diesel and CNG engine options will likely continue to be a part of the package.

5. Maruti Suzuki Fronx Hybrid

As per the reports, the Fronx hybrid is under development, and it will be the first model to be powered by Maruti Suzuki’s in-house developed HEV Series hybrid powertrain technology. The setup will utilise the 1.2-litre Z12E petrol engine, which will either charge a battery pack of around 1.5-2 kWh capacity, or directly drive an efficient electric motor, channelling power to the wheels.

This hybrid system could be capable of delivering fuel efficiency of over 30 kmpl. The Fronx hybrid is expected to go on sale around mid-2026, and it will likely feature minor cosmetic tweaks, along with new features like Level 2 ADAS.

Maruti Suzuki Sets New Production Record With 22.55 Lakh+ Vehicles Built In CY 2025

GaadiWaadi -

2024-Maruti-Suzuki-Swift-Red-1.jpg

Maruti Suzuki recorded its highest-ever annual production of over 22.55 lakh units in CY 2025 while the yearly exports also reached an all-time high

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has set a new benchmark in domestic automobile manufacturing by producing over 22.55 lakh vehicles in calendar year 2025. The numbers resulted in the brand posting its highest-ever annual output. The new achievement also makes 2025 the second consecutive year in which the company has crossed the production milestone of 20 lakh units.

The volumes reaffirm the sustained scale-up of India’s largest carmaker and the growing strength of the country’s automotive manufacturing ecosystem. A look at Maruti Suzuki’s production trajectory over the past five years indicates this consistent ramp-up. Output stood at 16.29 lakh units in CY 2021 – increasing in a encouraging manner to 19.16 lakh units in 2022.

The upward momentum continued in CY 2023 with 19.34 lakh units – followed by 20.63 lakh units in CY 2024. The jump to around 22.55 lakh units in CY 2025 shows the strongest year-on-year expansion in this period emphasising improved capacity utilisation and demand and a wider product portfolio especially in the SUV space.

Maruti-Suzuki-Export-Milestone-2.jpg

The 2025 production figures include vehicles manufactured for domestic sales, exports and OEM supplies. Models such as the Fronx, Baleno, Swift, Dzire and Ertiga emerged as the top five contributors by volume – mirroring strong customer demand in both India and overseas markets. More notably, the exports also reached an all-time yearly high for the auto major.

Compact cars and utility vehicles together continued to form the backbone of the company’s production portfolio. Maruti Suzuki’s manufacturing journey began in 1983 with its first plant in Gurugram, Haryana. Over the decades, the company has expanded its footprint with facilities in Manesar and Kharkhoda in Haryana and the integration of its Gujarat plant – creating a geographically diversified and highly scalable production network.

New-2025-Maruti-Suzuki-Dzire-4.jpg

These plants collectively manufacture 17 models and over 650 variants supported by a deep and multi-tier supplier ecosystem now. Looking ahead, Maruti Suzuki has outlined plans to further strengthen its manufacturing base by scaling total annual capacity to 4 million units. Commenting on this remarkable feat, Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said,

“This record production is a result of the dedication of our employees and the strong synergy that we share with our supplier partners. A high degree of localization has enabled us to achieve such scale while maintaining world-class quality, highlighting the strength and global competitiveness of India’s automotive manufacturing ecosystem. We remain committed to expanding our manufacturing footprint and strengthening India’s automobile manufacturing capabilities in line with the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.”

Maruti Dzire Dethrones Tata Punch To Become India’s Best-Selling Car In 2025

GaadiWaadi -

Maruti Dzire (1)

With the mid-size Ciaz discontinued last year, the sub-4 metre Dzire is now the only sedan existing in Maruti Suzuki’s line-up

SUVs may be all the rage, but sedans are here to stay and perhaps even get back in the lead in a key segment. Defying an inconceivable market trend, the Maruti Dzire climbed straight to the no.1 position on India’s new car sales chart last year.

A year ago, Tata Motors made headlines when it broke Maruti Suzuki’s four-decade streak of selling India’s best-selling car, and that was with the Punch micro-SUV. The Indo-Japanese joint venture is back to reclaim the highly coveted top spot in the four-million-plus car market, and it has surprisingly done so with a sedan.

Maruti Suzuki does not announce model-wise sales, but industry data shows the company sold 2.14 lakh units of the Dzire in 2024. The volume includes the car’s taxi version as well, which the company markets as the ‘Tour S’.

Maruti Dzire

The Dzire transitioned into its fourth generation in November 2024, which made 2025 the first full year of sales for its latest version. It appears this redesign has really worked wonders for Maruti Suzuki, and the GST rate on it going down from 29% to 18% last September provided a major additional boost. The sub-4 metre sedan’s annual sales stood at 1.61 lakh units in 2024 and grew by 32.9% last year.

On average, Maruti Suzuki was selling approximately 17,800 units of the Dzire every month last year. The sub-4 metre outperformed hot-selling SUVs like the Hyundai Creta and Tata Nexon, which should push Hyundai and Tata Motors to strengthen their focus on their sub-4 metre sedans, namely the Aura and Tigor, respectively. Honda is also present in this segment, selling the second- and third-generation models of the Amaze side by side.

Maruti Suzuki offers the Dzire with the Z12E 1.2-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated engine in a petrol variant and a petrol-CNG bi-fuel variant. This engine produces 60 kW (80 bhp) and 11.7 Nm of torque running on petrol and 51.3 kW (69 bhp) and 101.8 Nm of torque running on CNG.

Customers can specify the Dzire with a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed automated manual transmission, although the company gives the option for the latter only with the petrol variant of the Z12E engine. The petrol variant delivers a fuel economy of 24.79 km/l with the manual transmission and 25.71 km/l with the automated manual transmission. The bi-fuel variant delivers a fuel economy of 33.73 km/kg in CNG mode.

New-2025-Maruti-Suzuki-Dzire-3.jpg

The prices of the Maruti Dzire start at 6,25,600 rupees (ex-showroom) and go up to 9,31,300 rupees (ex-showroom). The Maruti Tour S is available in two grades, priced at 6,23,800 rupees (ex-showroom) and 7,09,800 rupees (ex-showroom), respectively.

Renault And Nissan Set To Expand Portfolios With New Car Launches

GaadiWaadi -

Dacia Duster (1)

French and Japanese automakers to launch five new models in India by next year, one of which will be an MPV

Save for a few refreshes and special editions, Renault has not launched any new cars in India in the recent years. It’s the same story at its long-standing alliance partner – Nissan, barring the launch of the overpriced X-Trail that found limited takers. Both brands have now renewed their focus on India and scheduled several major product launches for 2026 and 2027:

1. Nissan Gravite

Nissan will kickstart 2026 with the launch of the Gravite this month, marking its entry into the sub-4 metre MPV segment. As evident in the teasers, the Nissan Gravite will be a rebadged version of the Renault Triber, the only model in this segment at the present.

Nissan-Gravite-Rendered.jpg

The Gravite will have a few cosmetic changes that differentiate it from the Triber and give it a more assertive look. It will feature a larger radiator grille with horizontal inserts, block-lettered model name inscription at the tip of the bonnet, and more angular bumpers with tall C-shaped silver trim on the corners. The interior will likely have fewer changes, and the engine and transmission choices should be identical.

2. Renault Duster

The third-generation Renault Duster is set to debut on 26 January and will likely be launched in February. Based on the CMF-B LS platform, the all-new model will be a significantly more advanced SUV than the first-generation model that was previously sold in India, featuring a more upscale design, a more robust structure, and an array of new-age connectivity, comfort, and driver assistance features.

New Gen Duster

The latest model is already on sale internationally, but its Indian version will have a few design changes, including but not limited to unique DRLs, repositioned front fog lamps, and light bands connecting the tail lamps to the brand logo. Another change in the Indian model could be the inclusion of ventilated front seats. Renault will likely offer the next-gen Duster in India with 1.0-and 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engines. The company plans to introduce a hybrid powertrain option by early next year.

3. Nissan Tekton

Nissan Tekton (2)
Nissan Tekton

Next month, Nissan will unveil the Tekton, a corporate cousin of the latest Duster. The Nissan Tekton will feature an almost unique exterior, though, with a sharper front-end inspired by the seventh-generation Patrol being the key element of differentiation. The interior may have fewer differences, though, while the engine line-up should be the same. Nissan will likely launch the Tekton sometime in March and could introduce a hybrid variant in the second quarter of 2027.

4. Renault three-row SUV

Sometime between October and December, Renault will introduce a seven-seat version of the Duster. The Duster is unlikely to come with 19-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, a powered tailgate, and a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, but its three-row version will be available with these premium features.

Renault Boreal (2)

Renault may even offer a two-tone colour scheme to differentiate the three-row model further. The company may launch it with a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol and roll out a hybrid system sometime in 2027.

5. Nissan three-row SUV

Nissan has confirmed a three-row C-SUV for India, and this model will be a corporate cousin of Renault’s seven-seat SUV. The company will likely give it a unique exterior design in the same way as the Tekton, and similarly, the rest should be mostly shared with the Renault model. It may launch this model just about a month after the latter.

Tata Motors Gears Up For New SUV Launches – Punch Facelift To Sierra EV

GaadiWaadi -

Tata-Sierra-Electric-EV-Teased.jpg

Tata Motors to launch as many as five new SUVs in the next four months, covering both ICE and pure electric categories

Addressing the Indian market’s growing preference for SUVs, Tata Motors is aggressively expanding and regularly refreshing its SUV portfolio. The company plans to launch four new SUVs in quick succession in the coming months.

1&2. Tata Harrier petrol and Tata Safari petrol

Tata Motors has relied on the Fiat-developed 2.0-litre Kryotec turbocharged diesel engine for its Harrier and Safari twins for years now. Finally, this month, it will introduce an indigenously developed 1.5-litre Hyperion turbocharged petrol engine in these models.

Tata Harrier Petrol (3)

The Hyperion engine Tata Motors will offer in the Harrier and Safari will have a different tuning compared to the one it uses in the Sierra. The retuned engine will produce 125 kW (168 bhp) at 5,000 rpm and 280 Nm of torque at 1,750-3,500 rpm. Unlike in the Sierra, the company will offer it not only with a 6-speed automatic transmission but also with a 6-speed manual transmission.

3. New Tata Punch

The Tata Punch, one of the company’s highest-selling models, will undergo a facelift soon. Spy shots have revealed that the facelifted Punch will have new, LED split headlamps similar to the Punch.ev, a new front grille, and a restyled front bumper. New 16-inch alloy wheels, tweaked tail lamps, and a revised rear bumper may also be among the exterior changes.

The new Punch will feature some enhancements on the inside, too, and spy shots have already confirmed one of these changes – a two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated brand logo. Tata Motors may introduce ventilated seats and a 360º camera system in the Punch to improve comfort and safety. The company is expected to launch the new Punch by next month.

4. Tata Sierra.ev

By March, Tata Motors will likely launch the pure electric variant of the Sierra – the Sierra.ev. The Sierra.ev will have several design changes aimed at reducing drag, such as a covered upper grille, a sleeker lower grille, a new front bumper, and exclusive alloy wheels. Inside, the dashboard displays will include EV-specific functions, and the colour scheme will likely be different.

tata sierra ev spied

The Tata Punch.ev will offer more utility with a vehicle-to-load (V2L) bi-directional charging function that allows customers to power external equipment using energy stored in the traction battery pack. It will also offer more off-road capability with an optionally available all-wheel drive drivetrain layout. Tata Motors will roll out AWD in the ICE Sierra next year, but the Sierra.ev should still be more capable off the road, thanks to a torquier and silent powertrain.

5. New Tata Punch.ev

The Tata Punch.ev has found limited takers, and besides expensiveness, limited range could be the reason behind that. Priced from 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom), it delivers a range of 265 or 365 kilometres. Realistically, Tata Motors expects the range to be just 190-210 kilometres or 270-290 kilometres.

The new Tata Punch.ev should be more about technical upgrades than cosmetic changes, aimed at offering more practicality. We expect increased range and reduced charging speeds to be the key improvements in this model, which could be launched by April.
