Mahindra will introduce a new model in the compact SUV segment in the form of the Vision S, which is expected to go on sale sometime next year
The market share of SUVs is expected to grow further in the coming years, fueled by the rising demand, along with fresh product launches. In line with this, top car manufacturers in India, including Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Mahindra, Hyundai and Kia, are working on new SUVs for the sub-4-meter segment. Let’s look at the new compact SUV launches in the coming years.
1. Maruti Suzuki Brezza Facelift
Scheduled for a launch this year, the Brezza facelift has already been spotted testing in India. The updated SUV will get minor cosmetic tweaks to the exterior design, along with a few changes to the interiors. As per the reports, the new Brezza could likely get new features, including Level 2 ADAS, which will put it on par with the rivals.
The CNG-powered version of the Brezza could feature an underbody CNG tank, leveraging more boot space. Under the hood, the compact SUV will likely continue with the familiar 1.5-litre K15C petrol engine, paired to a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
2. Tata Punch Facelift
Tata Motors is ready to launch the Punch facelift in the Indian market on January 13. The best-selling car in the brand’s line-up will feature an updated exterior design with a new set of LED headlamps, sleek LED DRLs, a connected tail lamp setup, tweaked bumpers, and a new set of alloy wheels.

The first teaser shared by the company highlights the presence of a 360-degree parking camera and ADAS radar. The cabin will likely get a new steering wheel, 10.25-inch infotainment system, digital instrument cluster and more. Under the hood, the familiar 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine will continue to power the Punch facelift, available in both petrol and CNG fuel options.

3. Mahindra Vision S

The Vision S will be the first model to go on sale among the four Vision concept SUVs showcased last year in August. Based on the NU_IQ platform, it will likely be a part of the Scorpio nameplate. The test mule of the compact SUV has already been spotted testing in its near-production guise, sporting a boxy and upright stance, hinting at a market launch sometime in 2027. The Vision S will likely be powered by petrol and diesel engines, with front-wheel-drive configurations as standard. It could also get all-wheel drive (AWD) as an option.
4. New-Gen Tata Nexon

The new-gen Nexon is currently under development, and it is expected to go on sale in 2027. Internally codenamed ‘Garud’, the compact SUV will continue to be underpinned by the familiar X1 platform, albeit with major structural changes. The new-gen Tata Nexon will likely sport a new exterior design, in line with the latest crop of Tata cars. The interiors will also undergo a major overhaul with new feature additions. Talking about the powertrain, the current petrol, diesel and CNG engine options will likely continue to be a part of the package.
5. Maruti Suzuki Fronx Hybrid
As per the reports, the Fronx hybrid is under development, and it will be the first model to be powered by Maruti Suzuki’s in-house developed HEV Series hybrid powertrain technology. The setup will utilise the 1.2-litre Z12E petrol engine, which will either charge a battery pack of around 1.5-2 kWh capacity, or directly drive an efficient electric motor, channelling power to the wheels.
This hybrid system could be capable of delivering fuel efficiency of over 30 kmpl. The Fronx hybrid is expected to go on sale around mid-2026, and it will likely feature minor cosmetic tweaks, along with new features like Level 2 ADAS.

6. Kia Syros EV

The Syros EV will be launched in the Indian market this year, most probably in the first half. In terms of design, we expect the electric SUV to feature minor changes, like revised bumpers, new aero-efficient alloy wheels and some EV-specific branding. While the battery pack details are under wraps, the Syros is expected to come with a claimed range of around 400 kilometres on a single charge. Once launched, the Kia Syros EV will rival the likes of the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400 EV.
7. Mahindra XUV 3XO EV
The XUV3XO EV has been spotted testing on multiple occasions, and it is expected to go on sale this year. The long-awaited compact electric SUV will likely replace the XUV400 EV, featuring minor cosmetic tweaks over the conventionally powered XUV3XO. Under the hood, we expect the XUV3XO EV to be powered by the 34.5 kWh and 39.4 kWh battery pack options with a claimed range of around 400 kilometres on a single charge. Once launched, the Mahindra XUV3XO EV will rival the likes of the Tata Nexon EV and upcoming Kia Syros EV.
