2024 Hyundai Bayon Facelift_-3

Hyundai to cover multiple segments with new budget and premium cars this year, with the first launch expected in the second quarter of the year

In addition to the usual model year enhancements, Hyundai plans to introduce four new cars in India this year. The company will cater to both budget and premium segments with the upcoming models.

Following its three-year product lifecycle like in global markets, Hyundai will roll out a facelift for the sixth-generation Verna this year. The company launched the original model in March 2023 and will likely launch the updated model as early as April this year.

The new Verna will have a sharper and more aggressive front inspired by the latest Sonata and come with several new features, including a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with customisable modes and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto, both featuring the new ccNC software. It is unlikely to see any mechanical changes.

Later in the second quarter of the year, Hyundai will give the Exter its mid-cycle facelift. There have been rumours of the new Exter getting a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 9.9-inch digital instrument cluster. The updated model should also feature redesigned bumpers, tweaked headlamps and tail lamps, and new 15-inch alloy wheels. Hyundai is unlikely to make any changes to the engines or transmissions of the Exter with the facelift.

Sometime in June or July, Hyundai will likely launch the new Ioniq 5, which it revealed internationally way back in March 2024. The facelifted model features subtle design changes and gains a rear windshield wiper and washer, Digital Key 2, a new, three-spoke steering wheel, and a ccNC-based 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 12.3-inch infotainment system. A larger, 84 kWh battery pack will improve the driving range.

Around the festive season, Hyundai will likely conduct its most important launch of the year – Bayon. This will not be the current model sold internationally but the upcoming, second-generation model that is currently under development. The Bayon will be a sub-4 metre SUV positioned above the Venue, featuring a sportier and more technical-looking exterior. Based on the same platform as the next, fourth-generation i20’s platform, it will debut Hyundai’s hybrid-ready 1.2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine.

GaadiWaadi -

6 new premium SUVs priced from 11 to 45 lakh rupees (ex-showroom), including two electric models, to be unveiled or launched later this month

The Mahindra XUV 7XO, all-new Kia Seltos, and new Tata Punch were just among a few of many new cars coming to Indian showrooms in January. Six more new SUVs are scheduled for debut or launch in the second half of this month.

On 19 January, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) will hold the India debut of the Toyota Urban Cruiser, a mechanical cousin of the Maruti e Vitara. Already on sale internationally, the Urban Cruiser is differentiated with a unique front end inspired by a hammerhead shark, in line with Toyota’s latest global design language. The Urban Cruiser will likely be available in two FWD variants, with a range of up to 543 kilometres.

Nissan will launch the Gravite, a new sub-4 metre MPV based on the same CMF-A+ platform as the Magnite sub-4 metre SUV, in the coming weeks. It will be a rebadged version of the Renault Triber, but with uniquely designed grilles, bumpers, wheels, and tweaked headlamp and tail lamp clusters. It will likely be offered with the same set of features, a 1.0-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, and a choice of 5-speed manual and automated manual transmissions.

On 26 January, Renault will make a comeback in the mid-size SUV segment with the third-generation Duster. The latest model is already on sale globally, but the Indian-spec model will have some design changes, such as a different DRL, repositioned front fog lamps, and horizontal light bands on the tailgate. It will likely only be offered with 1.0-litre three-cylinder and 1.3-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engines.

Volkswagen plans to conduct the India debut of the Tayron, its new mid-size SUV replacing the Tiguan Allspace, on 28 January. The company manufactures it in five- and seven-seat versions, and while it is expected to offer both in India eventually, it may only bring the latter at launch. It will offer the Tayron with features like 19-inch alloy wheels, massage front seats, a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a 30-colour ambient lighting system.

Maruti Suzuki is expected to launch the e Vitara at the end of January. The Hyundai Creta rival will come in two FWD variants, with the top configuration confirmed to deliver a range of 543 kilometres. It will be available with features like a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10-way power driver’s seat, and a sliding and reclining 40:20:40 rear seat.

The facelifted Skoda Kushaq will likely be the last new model to be unveiled in India this month. The new Kushaq will feature a redesigned exterior and should come with a host of new features, including a panoramic sunroof, a 360º camera system, and Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems. It won’t have any mechanical changes, though.

Kia Dec 2025 Sales Analysis – Seltos, Carens, Sonet, Syros, Carnival

GaadiWaadi -

kia sonet facelift-11

In December 2025, Kia recorded 18,659 units as against 8,957 units during the same period the previous year with a YoY growth of 108 per cent

Kia India endured a good ending to the 2025 calendar year by recording 18,659 units in December – showing a notable improvement on a year-on-year basis but an obvious slowdown compared to the previous month. Its volume sales more than doubled from 8,957 units in December 2024 – translating into a 108 per cent year-on-year growth.

However, volumes dropped from 25,489 units in November 2025 resulting in a 27 per cent month-on-month decline. The Kia Sonet continued to lead the way in terms of monthly volumes. With 9,418 units dispatched in December 2025, the compact SUV alone contributed around half of Kia’s total sales. Compared to 3,337 units in December 2024, Sonet volumes jumped by a massive 182 per cent year-on-year.

On a month-on-month basis, however, Sonet sales fell from 12,051 units in November with a 22 per cent decline indicating that November had benefitted from higher festive and pre year-end dispatches. The Seltos recorded 4,369 units in December – up from 2,830 units a year earlier – resulting in a 54 per cent year-on-year increase.

Despite this healthy annual growth, Seltos volumes dropped from 6,305 units in November with a 31 per cent month-on-month fall. The prices of the new generation Seltos were revealed earlier this month and it comes with a raft of changes inside and out. It will be interesting to see how it stacks up in the midsize SUV segment in the first half of 2026.

The Carens MPV posted 3,681 units in December 2025 – improving from 2,626 units in December 2024 with a 40 per cent year-on-year rise. Month-on-month, sales declined steeply from 6,530 units in November, down by 44 per cent. The Kia Syros recorded 1,116 units in December 2025. Its volumes more than doubled from 544 units in November – registering a massive 105 per cent month-on-month growth.

Nissan Gravite MPV To Debut In India Next Week – What To Expect

GaadiWaadi -

Nissan-Gravite-Rendered.jpg

Nissan Gravite will be powered by a 1.0L NA and turbo petrol engines with manual and automatic transmission options in India

Nissan Motor India is set to introduce the Gravite compact MPV on January 21, 2026 as it will become the brand’s first product launch of 2026. The Gravite will spearhead a three-product rollout strategy planned within the next year and a half. Following the MPV’s arrival, Nissan will unveil the Tekton, a five-seater C-segment SUV, on February 4 while a larger three-row C-SUV is scheduled to enter production in 2027.

All three models will be manufactured in India and selectively exported to overseas markets. Momentum for the Gravite’s launch comes at a time when Nissan’s exports have gained appreciable numbers. In December 2025, the company exported 13,470 vehicles, its most impressive monthly export performance in more than a decade.

cumulative exports crossed 1.2 million units in 2025 as well. Mechanically, the Gravite is underpinned by the CMF-A architecture, the same platform used by the Renault Triber. Despite the shared foundations, Nissan has opted for distinctive styling cues to establish a clear visual separation. The front end features a broad blacked-out grille section and a slim LED light strip.

Other highlights are integrated headlamps and sculpted bonnet lines along with the Gravite lettering prominently positioned at the nose. At the rear, the MPV gains connected LED tail lamps, an upright tailgate design and an integrated roof spoiler. The bumper incorporates busy detailing with skid plate elements giving the Gravite a sportier appearance.

On the inside, the Gravite will offer a three-row cabin layout with a modular seating arrangement. While Nissan has yet to disclose full interior specifications, the focus is expected to be on space, everyday practicality and competitive features. Power will come from a 1.0-litre petrol engine – available in both naturally aspirated and turbocharged forms.

Buyers can expect manual and automatic gearbox options. To back its expanding product portfolio, Nissan is also accelerating its dealer and service network expansion – targeting approximately 250 outlets by FY2027.

Tesla India Slashes Model Y Prices As Inventory Piles Up & Rivals Gain Ground

GaadiWaadi -

Tesla Model Y

Tesla has begun offering price cuts of up to Rs. 2 lakh on select variants of the Model Y to clear existing inventory in India

Tesla India has hit its first visible speed bump with the company now resorting to discounts on the Model Y to address mounting inventory and slower retail. Nearly four months after Tesla imported its first consignment of Model Y SUVs into India, a significant portion of that inventory remains unsold. Of the 300 vehicles brought in as part of the initial shipment, close to 100 units are still sitting in stock.

To accelerate movement, Tesla has begun offering price cuts of up to Rs. 2 lakh on select variants of the Model Y. The inventory situation is reflected clearly in registration data. Across the entirety of 2025, Tesla managed to register just 227 vehicles in India – barely matching the size of its first shipment that is brought in.

While the launch generated curiosity and showroom footfalls, actual conversions have been limited, particularly after customers experienced the product alongside competing options. With import duties going as high as 110 per cent, the Model Y’s effective price in India climbs close to Rs. 70 lakh on-road approximately. At this level, Tesla finds itself competing not just on brand appeal but directly against locally assembled luxury EVs.

2025 tesla Model Y4

They offer more features, better dealer support and lower ownership costs. Reports suggest several early buyers chose to cancel bookings after test drives once they compared alternatives. The BMW iX1, assembled locally, has gained traction as a more accessible luxury EV while BYD’s Sealion 7 has emerged as a value-based alternative with aggressive pricing.

The German manufacturer’s electric vehicle volumes in India jumped nearly 200 per cent in 2025 to around 3,700 units while BYD registrations rose 88 per cent to over 5,400 vehicles. Tesla, on the other hand, has now reported two consecutive years of declining worldwide deliveries and has ceded its position as the world’s largest EV seller to China’s BYD.

2025 tesla Model Y5

Expectations that India could act as a fresh growth market have so far been tempered by a cautious and import-led model. In an effort to recalibrate, Tesla has appointed Sharad Agarwal, former Lamborghini India head, to lead its local operations. However, without local manufacturing, wider model availability or a competitive price ladder, Tesla’s India operations remain exposed.

Kia Carens Clavis ICE Range Gets New HTE(EX) Trim With Sunroof

GaadiWaadi -

Kia Carens Clavis HTE(EX)

Kia Carens Clavis HTE(EX) trim sits above the existing HTE(O) variant with highlighting features being sunroof, LED DRLs, etc

Kia India has strengthened the appeal of the IC-engined Carens Clavis by introducing a new HTE(EX) trim that slots above the existing HTE(O) variant with more features. One of the notable upgrades is the inclusion of a sunroof in the naturally aspirated 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol powertrain for the first time – in line with the growing demand for such feature.

The brand calls it a Sky Light Electric Sunroof and its addition is significant as sunroofs have become a key purchase driver in family vehicles. The new variant is offered across all internal combustion engine options including the 1.5L petrol, 1.5L turbo petrol and 1.5L diesel. Regardless of engine choice, the HTE(EX) is available exclusively in a seven-seat layout.

Prices start at Rs. 12,54,900 for the 1.5L petrol which rises up to Rs. 13,41,900 for the turbo petrol and Rs. 14,52,900 for the diesel (all, ex-showroom). In addition to the sunroof, Kia has packed the HTE(EX) with features such as automatic climate control system that replaces manual air-conditioning, LED daytime running lights and position lamps.

Additionally, LED cabin lamps and driver-side auto up/down power window are also available. Combined with the electric version, the Carens Clavis has been well received by consumers since its market debut last year. Kia says the new variant was developed after closely studying customer feedback. Speaking on the new launch, Atul Sood, Senior Vice President – Marketing & Sales, Kia India, said,

“The introduction of the HTE (EX) trim for Carens Clavis (ICE) range is a direct outcome of listening closely to our customers and understanding what they value most. By incorporating comfort and convenience features that they have actively want, including the first-ever skylight sunroof in the G1.5 powertrain of Carens Clavis—and offering them across all powertrains, we are making our Carens Clavis lineup an even more compelling choice for families.”
