Wuling starlight 560 (5)

The British brand is all set to expand its SUV portfolio by launching the Hector Hawk PHEV on July 16, 2026 in the Indian market. Based on the global-spec Wuling Starlight 560, it is likely to be rolled out in both Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) and Battery Electric Vehicle (EV) versions. The PHEV model will come with a 1.5L naturally aspirated Atkinson-cycle petrol engine with an electric motor and a 20.5 kWh battery. On the other hand, the all-electric SUV will get a 56.7 kWh battery pack with driving range of 500 km on a full charge. Apart from the standard 5-seater version, a 7-seater configuration could also be introduced at a later stage.

2. New-Gen Hyundai Creta

Internally codenamed SX3, the next-gen Creta will be sitting on the new K3 platform as it is being readied for a market launch around early 2027 in India. Recently, the mid size SUV was spied during the cold-weather high-altitude testing in Manali, Himachal Pradesh. Some of the notable elements in the new-gen model include zero-gravity seat button, multi-link rear suspension and 19-inch alloy wheels among others. Mechanically, it will continue to carry the 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol, 1.5L diesel and 1.5L turbocharged petrol engines. All these engines are likely to be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard.

3. Kia Seltos Hybrid

Kia Seltos

Kia will debut its first strong hybrid vehicle in the form of the Sorento later this year in the Indian market. And, the same hybrid engine will be borrowed by the Seltos as it prepares for an early 2027. The ongoing model’s naturally-aspirated 1.5L petrol engine will be hybridised with a dual electric motor and battery pack setup. It has been learnt that the Seltos hybrid will offer a fuel efficiency of 25 kmpl. The South-Korean brand is aiming to heavily localize the hybrid engine components to keep the costs down.

4. Renault Duster Hybrid

Renault Duster will join the bandwagon of strong hybrid SUVs (Maruti Victoris, Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder) in India later this year around the festive season of Diwali. It will be rolled out with a naturally-aspirated 1.8L four-cylinder petrol engine, two electric motors, and a 1.4 kWh battery pack. The combined power output stands at 160 hp and 172 Nm. The power will be transmitted to the wheels via a multi-mode automatic gearbox. The design, features and other components will be shared with the regular version of the Duster.

5. Honda Elevate Facelift

Honda Elevate Facelift (1)

The 2026 Elevate facelift was spotted testing last month for the first time. The SUV is expected to get minor visual updates such as redesigned headlamps, tweaked bumpers and refreshed tail-lamp cluster. The cabin could get a fresh upholstery while modern features could make their way in the new SUV like ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera and the latest version of ADAS suite. It could also boast of a bigger touchscreen infotainment system. At the heart, it will house the same 1.5L petrol engine as the outgoing model with 6-speed manual and CVT gearbox options. The power and torque figures will remain unchanged.

Hyundai To Launch 4 New SUVs In India Within The Next 12-15 Months

GaadiWaadi -

new-gen-hyundai-creta-spied-india.jpg

Four new Hyundai SUVs to cover multiple segments from A to D, with one model offering even three-row seating

In October last year, Hyundai announced it had planned 26 launches, including 7 new nameplates, by March 2030. The company has since launched the all-new Venue, the new Verna, the new Exter, and the new Ioniq 5. By next year, it is expected to introduce four SUVs in our market, three of which will be new nameplates:

1. Hyundai Bayon

While the first-gen Hyundai Bayon is a Euro-focused SUV, the second-gen model is being developed keeping in mind the requirements of emerging markets as well and will be launched in India. It will be a new mid-size SUV designed to compete with the Maruti Victoris, positioned below the Hyundai Creta.

Hyundai Bayon (2)

The next-gen Bayon will debut Hyundai’s new 1.2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine in India. The company could also offer a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine or a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine to keep the entry price low.

2. Hyundai HE1i

‘HE1i’ is the codename of Hyundai’s upcoming SUV, which could challenge the Tata Punch.ev. Unlike the Creta Electric, it will be heavily localised, right down to the cell level. The company is likely to offer two battery pack options, both featuring LFP cells sourced from Exide Energy.

The Hyundai HE1i will have a squarish exterior for a proper SUV look, along with modern details such as flush-fitted door handles and the brand’s Parametric Pixel light signature. It will likely be launched in Q1 2027.

3. Next-gen Hyundai Creta

The next-gen Hyundai Creta will be a noticeably bigger, more aggressive- and futuristic-looking SUV. Based on an all-new ‘K3’ platform, it will be more spacious and ready to accommodate a hybrid system, expected to be introduced at a later stage.

Inside, there’d be a new cockpit layout consisting of a 9.9-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Google built-in. Hyundai will likely launch the next-gen Creta in India in mid-2027.

4. Hyundai Ni1i

Hyundai Tucson Hybrid
Global Tucson Hybrid

The Hyundai Ni1i is reportedly the brand’s upcoming Mahindra XUV 7XO rival. Reports say it will be based on the platform of the Tucson long-wheelbase. It will be offered with a hybrid powertrain based on a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, possibly the same one that will debut in the India-made Kia Sorento this year. The new three-row SUV from Hyundai could be launched at the end of 2027.

Tata Motors to cement its position as one of India’s top three carmakers with a slew of new launches and timely facelifts and refreshes

Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV) has significantly expanded its presence in the Indian car market in recent years. From 133,000 cars sold in FY2020, the company reached 640,000 units in FY2026, representing a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 30%.

By FY2031, TMPV aims to nearly double its annual sales volume to 12 lakh units, which would represent a CAGR of approximately 13.4%. While the growth rate would be much lower, the sheer volume the company is aiming for would significantly increase its position in the Indian car market.

At TMPV’s 81st annual general meeting held on 8 July 2026, Chairman N Chandrasekaran said that the company aims to increase its market share from currently 14.2% to 20% by FY2031. The company plans to introduce six new nameplates and over 20 refreshes and facelifts to support its mid-term goals.

The larger portfolio will allow TMPV to expand its addressable market to over 80% by FY2031, Managing Director and CEO Shailesh Chandra said at the 81st annual general meeting. The company aims to capture over 25% of market share in every car segment by the end of this period.

TMPV has confirmed that the six new nameplates will include three models in white spaces and three models in high-growth segments. The white space models will comprise two new electric models and one ICE model. The former will likely be based on dedicated EV platforms. The three models in high-growth segments will comprise a mix of ICE and electric models and likely be based on multi-energy platforms.

The mid-term strategy involves strengthening emphasis on CNG and electric cars, which TMPV estimates will start having a combined share of over 45% of the Indian car market by 2031. The company expects 47% of its growth between FY2026 and FY2031 to come from electric cars, 35% from CNG cars, and 18% from petrol and diesel cars.

The electric line-up particularly will grow from currently seven to ten models by FY2031. As for the CNG portfolio, TMPV has said that it will expand the range from currently five models but has not stated a specific number.

Hyundai June 2026 Sales Analysis – Creta, Venue, Exter, Verna, i10, i20

GaadiWaadi -

Hyundai Venue (1)

Supply chain issues severely impact Hyundai’s vehicle production in India in June 2026, particularly its best-selling model, the Creta

Hyundai, one of the largest car manufacturers in India, shipped 39,635 cars to local dealers in June 2026. The company saw a 10% decline in volume over the same month last year (June 2025: 44,024 units). Rather than a drop in demand for its cars, Hyundai’s decline in factory dispatch last month was due to production issues.

A fire at one of its key local suppliers, Mobis, which took place on 31 May, impacted the supply of audio systems and other key components. While Hyundai said it would arrange for an alternative supplier, it noted that production of vehicles would normalise only by 22 June. Hyundai later said that supply chain issues led to a production loss of about 13,900 vehicles in June 2026. Thus, had it not faced the problem, its production volume would have been around 53,500 units, up approximately 22%.

The Hyundai Creta is the brand’s best-selling model in India and typically takes the top spot in dispatches. June 2026 was different, though, with the Hyundai Venue ranking no. 1 with 10,776 units. The sub-compact SUV saw a 57% year-on-year growth. The Hyundai Creta’s volume declined 55% year-on-year, from 15,786 units to 7,168 units, bringing it to the third position.

GaadiWaadi -

MINI Cooper S GP Inspired Edition (2)

Mini recorded over 500 unit sales between January and June 2026 in India and registered a massive 70 per cent YoY surge

Mini India reported a notable performance in the first half of 2026 as the premium hatchback and SUV brand delivered 504 cars between January and June – registering a 70 per cent year-on-year increase. It came on the back of an expanded product portfolio, sold out special editions, growing interest in the Countryman and a expanding retail network across the country.

The company also confirmed that the locally produced Mini Countryman C will play a significant role in its future growth plans. According to the brand, consumer demand remained particularly high for the Countryman while limited-run models such as the Mini Cooper S Victory Edition and Convertible JCW Pack were completely sold out.

The company said these special editions generated high levels of customer interest. The brand is also expanding its retail presence across India under a new initiative. The British manufacturer currently operates 18 sales touchpoints across 17 cities and has outlined plans to enter Jaipur, Jodhpur, Ranchi, Guwahati, Surat, Vijayawada and Lucknow this year.

Existing operations in Mumbai, Pune and Gurugram will also be consolidated too as part of the expansion strategy. Mini says the new retail spaces are created to provide a more immersive and personalised customer interaction while improving accessibility in emerging luxury vehicle markets. Mini expects the locally manufactured Countryman C to widen the brand’s reach by improving affordability and local availability.

The company believes domestic production will enable more customers to enter the Mini ownership ecosystem while supporting the next line of volume growth. Mini also stayed put building engagement through experiential events. The company’s Mini Go-Kart Days programme lured in noticeable participation during the first half of the year.

Commenting on the results, Hardeep Singh Brar, President and CEO, BMW Group India, said “MINI India has had a remarkable start to 2026, growing by +70% in the first half of the year. This momentum reflects the strong connection customers have with MINI’s unmistakable design, spirited performance and vibrant lifestyle appeal. The success of our special editions and the continued popularity of the MINI Countryman show how strongly MINI’s unique character is resonating in India.”
