The next-gen Bolero will likely be launched in 2026; Thar facelift and XUV700 facelift are also on the cards for next year

Mahindra & Mahindra is currently one of the most popular car manufacturers in India with multiple high-selling models in its portfolio, including Scorpio, Thar and XUV700. In order to continue the momentum, the Indian SUV manufacturer is preparing to refresh its line-up with facelifts as well as new generation models. In this article, we will look at the 3 new Mahindra ICE SUVs spied on test in India.

1. Mahindra Thar Facelift

Mahindra is currently working on the mid-cycle update of the Thar 3-Door, and the test mule was recently spotted in the country. Scheduled for a launch sometime next year, i.e. 2026, the Thar facelift will borrow the design elements from the Thar Roxx, including the grille, bumpers, headlights and tail lamps.

Inside the cabin, the spy shots highlight familiarity with the Roxx, like the steering wheels, infotainment system and more. The Mahindra Thar facelift will continue to be powered by the familiar 1.5-litre diesel, 2.2-litre diesel and 2.0-litre turbo petrol engines.

2. New-Gen Mahindra Bolero

Slated for a launch in the Indian market next year, i.e. 2026, the next-gen Bolero was recently spotted testing in a heavily camouflaged guise. It will be based on the New Flexible Architecture (NFA) platform, which will be officially unveiled on August 15 this year. The new Bolero will retain the boxy design elements, albeit in a much more modern avatar with round headlights, rugged bumpers, tailgate-mounted spare wheel and updated rear profile.

The interiors are expected to be more modern and upmarket with a new dashboard layout, sunroof, larger infotainment system and more. The SUV could get an updated powertrain, however, nothing can be confirmed as of now.

3. Mahindra XUV700 Facelift

The Mahindra XUV700 facelift is due for a launch next year, i.e. 2026, and the fully camouflaged test mule was recently spotted testing in India. The updated SUV will get an all-new front grille, redesigned headlamps and tweaked bumpers, along with a fresh set of alloy wheels. Inside the cabin, the triple-screen layout is confirmed via spy shots.

Top 10 Scooters Sold In May 2025 – Activa, Jupiter, Access, iQube, Chetak, Ola

tvs iqube-2

Honda Activa continued to lead the way ahead of TVS Jupiter and Suzuki Access in May 2025 but with a YoY drop of 11.85 per cent

The sales numbers in the scooter segment for the month of May 2025 have drawn a sharp line between gainers and stragglers with familiar names holding their ground but not without showing some wear. At the very top, Honda’s Activa – still the best-selling scooter in the country – posted a YoY drop of 11.85 per cent, falling to 1,90,713 units compared to 2,16,352 last May.

While the numbers still dwarf competition, it underlines a slowing pace for the once unstoppable nameplate. The real story of momentum belongs to the TVS Jupiter which surged 28.70 per cent to reach 97,606 units comfortably strengthening its hold on the second spot. The Suzuki Access followed suit as it continued its upward trajectory with a 16.92 per cent increase.

Its domestic sales tally last month stood at 75,778 units. Among outliers, TVS XL moped sales dipped 7.75 per cent, coming in at 37,264 units. However, the brand had better luck elsewhere – its electric offering, the iQube, grew handsomely with a YoY bump of over 60 per cent, touching 27,642 units. The iQube now outsells several established petrol-powered rivals.

9 Suzuki Burgman (26.46%) 24,688 19,523
10 Ola S1 (Retail) (-50.52%) 18,501 37,389

In just over a year, the volume figures of the iQube have grown tremendously as over three lakh units have been sold. On the opposite end, Honda’s Dio struggled, losing nearly 10 per cent year-on-year and closing May at 26,220 units. Bajaj Auto, meanwhile, doubled down on electrification with the Chetak posting a staggering 95.83 per cent rise.

It touched 25,540 units versus just over 13,000 units during the same month last year. Recently, Bajaj introduced the more affordable entry-level variant of the Chetak for just under one lakh in India to further capitalise on the nameplate’s good reception. TVS Ntorq, once a consistent player among younger riders, saw a 13.84 per cent drop as it managed 25,205 units.

Tata-Avinya-X-2.jpg

Tata intends to nearly double its current offering as it focusses on bringing in 30 new electric and ICE offerings by 2030

During its recent Investors Day presentation, Tata Motors laid out a forward-looking roadmap featuring a substantial expansion of its passenger vehicle lineup. The company has committed to delivering 30 new vehicles by the end of this decade, spanning mid-cycle updates and facelifts as well as brand new entries across different segments.

Of these, seven will be entirely new nameplates. The homegrown automaker intends to nearly double its current offering as it focusses on bringing in new electric and ICE offerings. The race for number two in the overall passenger car sales is certainly heating up as Hyundai and Mahindra are also planning to introduce several new models over the next five years.

Recently, Tata launched the Harrier EV and updated Altroz while the Sierra nameplate will make a comeback in its new avatar in electric and ICE guises this FY as part of the new product onslaught. It will be followed by the more premium Avinya range. The third generation Nexon and updated Punch will be part of the 23 new ICE offerings waiting in the pipeline.

Tata Motors also confirmed an investment outlay of up to Rs 35,000 crore earmarked for its passenger vehicle operations over the FY2026 to FY2030 period. This capital will also be channelled for developing next generation powertrain and electronics as well as software. The Harrier and Safari will receive a new petrol engine before the end of this FY.

The all-new 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine will be good enough to produce 168 PS and 280 Nm of peak torque and bear in mind that Tata has gained rights to modify the 2.0L FCA-sourced turbo Multijet diesel engine which is currently in use. It could get a power bumper and technology additions down the line, helping the brand to appeal to a wide base of customers.

Hyundai Plans A Huge Product Assault For India – All Key Details

GaadiWaadi -

2024 Hyundai Bayon Facelift_-4

Of the total, 20 new models will continue to rely on internal combustion powertrains while six new Hyundai products are slated to be fully electric

Hyundai Motor India has laid out an ambitious roadmap for the coming years – confirming a pipeline of 26 upcoming vehicles for the Indian market by the end of FY30. Of the total, 20 models will continue to rely on internal combustion powertrains while six new products are slated to be fully electric as the brand looks to expand its range across multiple price brackets.

At present, Hyundai’s EV portfolio in India is limited to the Ioniq 5 and the Creta Electric. However, the brand has previewed its broader electric ambitions by displaying models such as the Ioniq 6 sedan and the Ioniq 9 flagship SUV at the Auto Expo. Looking ahead, reports suggest that hybridisation will also play a role in Hyundai’s strategy.

The next-gen iteration of the best-selling Hyundai Creta and an all-new three-row SUV – positioned between the Alcazar and Tucson – are both expected to debut with hybrid powertrains by 2027. Encouraged by the traction gained by the Creta Electric, introduced earlier this year, Hyundai seems set to accelerate its EV ambitions in India.

A clear emphasis on sport utility vehicles is expected to guide the company’s upcoming electric lineup – combining both globally sourced and locally manufactured models. Alongside product expansion, Hyundai is also preparing to ramp up localisation of its electric offerings while working in parallel to expand charging infrastructure – both seen as key steps in ensuring long-term competitiveness in the Indian EV space.

Leading the charge in Hyundai’s new portfolio is the next-generation Venue which is expected to make its way to dealerships before the calendar flips to 2026. The compact SUV will bring in a wide range of updates – cosmetic tweaks to the exterior and a comprehensively revised cabin. An electric version could also be under development.

Hyundai is reportedly preparing to bring a compact electric crossover – based on the Inster EV already introduced overseas – to Indian showrooms as early as 2026 and it will be specifically made for the local market while the global i20-based Bayon will give rise to a new compact SUV as well. This would further bolster its battery-electric range in the entry-level segment to compete with Tata Punch and the likes.

Meanwhile, whispers of a mid-cycle refresh for the Creta Electric are circulating too, potentially targeting a 2027 timeline. On the internal combustion front, Hyundai has plans to update its models too. Updated versions of familiar nameplates such as the Grand i10 Nios, i20, Exter and Verna are on the cards within the next 12-18 months.

Honda City Sport Edition Launched In India At Rs. 14.88 Lakh

GaadiWaadi -

Honda-City-Sport-Edition-6.jpg

Honda City Sport Edition gets a black treated exterior and interior to enhance its sporty appeal compared to the regular model

Honda Cars India has today announced the launch of a new special edition of the City sedan in the domestic market for a starting price of Rs. 14.88 lakh (ex-showroom). Known as the City Sport, it brings darker cosmetic enhancements to elevate its sporty appeal compared to the regular model while no mechanical changes are intended. According to Honda, its availability is limited.

The most noticeable update lies up front where the wide chrome trim has been replaced with a glossy black strip and the front grille has been blacked out to match. Even the outside rear view mirror housings follow suit in dark finish while the boot carries a discreet ‘Sport’ badge to complement the styling. A slim black lip spoiler has also been added for subtle distinction.

Stepping inside the cabin, the changes continue in the Honda City Sport Edition with a fully black theme. The seat upholstery now wears a full black finish, matched by black dashboard inserts. In addition, red contrast stitching appears on the multifunctional steering wheel. No changes have been made under the hood as previously mentioned.

The Honda City Sport grade uses the standard 1.5L four-cylinder VTEC petrol engine which is good enough to generate a maximum power output of 121 PS and 145 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties are handled by only the CVT automatic unit already available on the regular City as the regular six-speed MT is not offered in the Sport edition.

The cosmetic update is meant to inject a sportier feel into the existing package without introducing performance updates. The sedan sales across the auto industry have fallen big time in recent times as customers prefer to buy SUVs. While minor in nature, the changes could appeal to buyers wanting a more appealing look to the City nameplate.

Defender-110-Trophy-Edition-Land-Rover.jpg

Land Rover Defender 110 Trophy Edition gets a host of enhancements compared to the standard model to emphasise its off-road character

A new global competition is taking shape and it is unlike anything the Defender name has backed in recent memory. Land Rover has opened entries for the Defender Trophy – an international, multi-round off-road challenge that combines physical grit, tactical driving, and a deeper mission tied to wildlife preservation.

Slated for a 2026 global finale in Africa, the event is being organised in partnership with conservation group Tusk. Across more than 50 countries, selections will begin later this year. Local participants will undergo a series of assessments before moving on to national contests with winners heading to the final expedition.

What sets this apart from typical off-road events is that finalists will contribute to a conservation-led operation, connecting their journey to real-world outcomes. The vehicle built to lead this next chapter is the Defender 110 Trophy Edition. Offered in two exclusive colours – Keswick Green and Deep Sandglow Yellow – the model is visually tied to Land Rover’s historic adventure roots.

On the inside, details such as the Ebony Windsor leather seats, laser-etched trim pieces and colour-coded structural beam are present. The exterior carries decals on the bonnet and C-pillar and the cabin features backlit branded tread plates. Optional extras like an expedition roof rack, a deployable ladder, raised intake, side-mounted storage unit and classic mud flaps are also available.

Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG Bike Gets A Price Cut In India – All Details

GaadiWaadi -

Image-2-Bajaj-Freedom-125-to-be-available-across-77-towns-by-the-77TH-Indian-Independence-Day.jpg

With the latest price cut, the Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG now starts from Rs. 85,976; the price revision is only valid for the base-spec variant

Bajaj Auto has announced a price revision for the Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG motorcycle via its social media handles. The company slashed the starting price of the motorcycle by Rs. 5,000, and the new range starts from Rs. 85,976 (ex-showroom). The price reduction is only applicable to the entry-level NG04 Drum variant.

The Freedom 125 is available in 3 variants, and the top-spec variant will set you back Rs. 1.11 lakh (ex-showroom). The price revision brings the starting range of the Freedom 125 almost at par with the Honda Shine 125, India’s best-selling 125cc motorcycle. The prices of the mid-spec NG04 Drum LED (Rs. 95,981) and top-of-the-line NG04 Disc LED remain unchanged (Rs. 1.11 lakh). It is important to note the price reduction doesn’t bring any changes to the motorcycle.

While the exact reason behind this price cut is unknown, it is most likely due to the fact that the Freedom 125 is not able to make a big impact in the sales department. The lack of proper CNG infrastructure and limited awareness regarding CNG-powered two-wheelers are some of its limiting factors.

Bajaj-Freedom-CNG-1.jpg

Talking about its monthly sales, the Freedom 125 posted triple-digit sales of just 993 units in April 2025 and 1,394 units in March 2025, which is quite low considering the mass commuter motorcycle segment it is positioned in. The CNG motorcycle is powered by a 125cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine, putting out 9.5 PS and 9.7 Nm of peak torque.

The motor can run on both CNG and petrol. The two-wheeler gets a 2-litre petrol reservoir and a 2-litre CNG tank. It comes with a claimed fuel efficiency of 100 km/kg for CNG and 65 km/litre for petrol. The total riding range of the Freedom 125 stands at around 330 kilometres.
