Mahindra Vision S Concept Teased, Scorpio Electric Debut On Aug 15?

GaadiWaadi -

Mahindra Vision S Concept1

Mahindra Vision S concept could spawn the all-electric Scorpio while the possibilities of the Scorpio N pickup can’t be ruled out either

Mahindra & Mahindra will unveil multiple concept models at the Freedom_NU event in Mumbai on Aug 15, 2025. Recently, the brand teased the Vision.T concept on its various social media handles, giving fuel to the speculations that the Thar Electric will be spawned by this very concept model. Now, it has teased the Vision.S concept, indicating that it might also unveil the Scorpio Electric at the event on August 15. It could also be the pre-production version of the Scorpio N pick-up which was showcased a couple of years back in 2023 in South Africa.

First things first, Mahindra will take the wraps of its future vehicle platform, which has been christened as ‘NU’. It will accommodate both ICE hybrid and pure electric vehicles. The teaser video of Mahindra NU shows the logos of both the ICE and Electric Origin. Hence, it is safe to assume that the architecture will be compatible with multiple powertrain choices such as petrol, diesel, EV and hybrid.

Now, coming to the Vision.S concept, it could either be the all-electric Scorpio or the Scorpio N pickup which was recently spotted testing on the Indian roads. Touted as a global product, the Mahindra Scorpio N pickup will be sold in various international markets such as South Africa, Australia and the Middle East. It could be equipped with the tried-and-trusted 2.2L diesel mill from the Scorpio N SUV.

If at all the Scorpio N pickup comes to life, it could also be available with petrol engine options to keep the costs down and meet the stringent emission norms. Some of the primary characteristics of the pickup model could be a 4×4 drive system, high ground clearance, drive modes, and tough suspension with leaf springs among others. The spy-images captured recently confirmed the inclusion of all these elements.

However, on the other hand, if the Scorpio EV is the vehicle in the teaser, then we assume it to be based on the same body-on-frame chassis and an electric powertrain in order to continue the SUV’s renowned off-roading credentials while being environment friendly at the same time. It could borrow the cabin and features from the ICE counterpart.

Though nothing is confirmed yet and we have to wait till August 15 when Mahindra finally unravels the surprise in the store. It is confirmed that the brand’s new-age EV and ICE platform will be showcased to the world alongside the Vision.S and Vision.T concepts. Stay tuned to this space for more updates on the same as we inch closer to the event.

Tata Motors To Invest Rs. 35,000 Crores, Launch 30 New Vehicles By 2030

Tata Sierra Side

Tata Motors to consolidate platforms, launch 30 new models by FY30

Tata Motors is set to undertake a significant restructuring of its product platforms as part of a broader strategy to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs and accelerate its electric vehicle roadmap. The automaker has committed an investment of Rs. 35,000 crore over the next five years to support this transformation, which includes launching 30 new products by FY30.

As part of the revamp, Tata Motors will gradually reduce its number of product platforms to just two or three, consolidating its existing mix of architectures into a more modern, lightweight structure. This consolidation is expected to bring greater economies of scale and flexibility across its passenger vehicle and electric vehicle portfolios.

Currently, the company operates multiple platforms, including legacy structures like the X1 platform, which underpins popular models such as the Nexon, Tiago and Tigor. These products are scheduled for life cycle upgrades in the coming years, providing an opportunity to transition them to newer, more advanced platforms.

Tata Motors’ latest modular platform, ATLAS (Adaptive Tech-Forward Lifestyle Architecture), forms the foundation for new models such as the Curvv and the upcoming Sierra. Designed with versatility in mind, ATLAS allows for both electric and internal combustion variants on the same platform.

Meanwhile, models like the Altroz and Punch are built on the Alfa and Alfa Arc platforms, with continued investment planned to enhance these architectures, particularly for lightweighting and body structure improvements. Larger vehicles such as the Harrier and Safari use the Omega platform, which derives its design from Jaguar Land Rover’s D8 architecture.

The company’s premium electric vehicle lineup under the Avinya brand will debut in 2026, leveraging Jaguar Land Rover’s Electrified Modular Architecture through a licensing agreement signed in November 2023. This technology transfer is expected to elevate Tata Motors’ EV offerings by incorporating global standards in performance and safety.

Tata Motors is also exploring the separation of EV and PV sales networks as part of its broader growth strategy. From its current network of 230 locations and 1100 EV sales points, the company plans to expand its presence to 1000 cities and towns over the next 4-5 years. A potential differentiation of EV and PV branding is under active consideration, although no final decision has been made.

The company’s aggressive product roadmap includes at least seven new models and 23 facelifts or refreshes planned between FY26 and FY30. This would bring Tata Motors’ total number of nameplates to around 15, comparable to market leader Maruti Suzuki.

The overhaul reflects Tata Motors’ focus on future-ready platforms, greater product flexibility, and strengthening its position in India’s rapidly evolving automotive market, particularly in the EV segment.

Maruti Suzuki faces decline across almost all segments in domestic sales in June and Q1 FY2026, but exports show a healthy growth

Maruti Suzuki today announced it sold a total of 167,993 vehicles in June 2025. The company’s monthly sales saw a decline of 11,235 units or 6% year-over-year. Both domestic sales and exports of Maruti Suzuki in June 2025 were down compared to the same month last year. That said, the company’s domestic sales to other OEM, presumably only to Toyota Kirloskar Motor, marginally grew from 8,277 units in June 2024 to 8,812 units in June 2025.

Including its own domestic sales and sales to other OEM, Maruti Suzuki shipped a total of 130,151 vehicles in June 2025. Compared to June last year, when the company’s net domestic shipments were 148,195 units, this marked a decline of 18,044 units or 12%.

As for quarterly performance, April-June 2025 was a period of marginal growth for Maruti Suzuki, and this was again due to a substantial improvement in exports.

Tesla Model Y Delivers Itself: World’s First Fully Autonomous Vehicle Handover

GaadiWaadi -

Tesla-Model-Y-Delivers-Itself-Worlds-First-Fully-Autonomous-Vehicle.jpg

Tesla Model Y has become the first car to complete a fully unassisted delivery run, travelling from the factory to a customer’s home

A Tesla Model Y has become the first vehicle to deliver itself fully unassisted from factory to customer home as it completed the trip across Austin, Texas without a driver on board or any remote input. The electric SUV departed alone from Tesla’s Gigafactory, navigated city streets, highways and traffic signals along the way.

The fully autonomous vehicle parked itself at the end of the nearly half an hour route. Not a single person entered the car at any point during the journey according to the brand and its CEO. The entire run was filmed from the back seat and later released by Tesla following an earlier time lapse. It comes right after several questions raised over Tesla’s implementation of fully autonomous tech.

The footage showed the Model Y responding to stop signs, red lights, intersections and traffic flow, executing turns and lane changes autonomously. The delivery marks the first time Tesla has showcased complete autonomy on public roads as no humans were in the car and no assistance from a control centre. The American company previously demonstrated early versions of its hands-free system in April.

Back then, vehicles moved themselves from factory assembly areas to outdoor parking without human drivers. But the Austin delivery marks a significant milestone, putting that technology onto real roads. According to Ashok Elluswamy, Tesla’s Autopilot and AI lead, the vehicle hit speeds up to 115 kmph during the trip without any assistance.

Just days before this feat, Tesla began a limited rollout of its robotaxi system in Austin. Select investors and online creators were offered rides in fully driverless Model Y units. Elon Musk had foreshadowed both developments – the robotaxi pilot and self-driving delivery – in earlier posts, reiterating Tesla’s intention to put millions of autonomous EVs into service in the near future.

Meanwhile, with demand for electric vehicles showing signs of cooling in regions like North America and Europe, Tesla is doubling down on advanced AI projects including the Optimus humanoid robot as these new projects are being framed as the company’s next growth vector, even as its public image continues to be shaped by Musk’s often divisive online presence.
