Inside the cabin, the spy shots highlight familiarity with the Roxx, like the steering wheels, infotainment system and more. The Mahindra Thar facelift will continue to be powered by the familiar 1.5-litre diesel, 2.2-litre diesel and 2.0-litre turbo petrol engines.

Mahindra XEV 7e has been in the development phase for a long time, and it is expected to launch by the end of 2025. The 7-seater electric SUV will be based on the INGLO skateboard platform shared with the XEV 9e and BE 6. It is basically the electrified version of the XUV700 and will be the first mass-market 7-seater electric SUV in the country. The XEV 7e will likely be offered in two battery pack options, i.e. 59 kWh and 79 kWh, with rear wheel drive as standard.

Rivalling the likes of Tata Nexon EV and the upcoming Kia Syros EV, it is expected to sport a familiar design to the conventionally-powered XUV3XO. Internally codenamed S240, we expect the battery packs to be borrowed from the XUV400 EV, i.e. 34.5 kWh and 39.4 kWh units. The XUV3XO EV will be quite feature-loaded with equipment like ADAS, panoramic sunroof, 360-degree parking camera, dual-zone climate control and more.

Toyota Fortuner will face stiff competition in the 7-seater SUV segment with the arrival of three new models in the coming months

Toyota Fortuner has been the undisputed leader in the full-fledged seven-seater premium SUV segment for the last decade in the Indian market. Having said that, it had formidable rivals in the past in the form of Ford Endeavour, Mitsubishi Pajero and Jeep Meridian among others. However, it still emerged as the best-selling model despite the strong challenge from the other SUVs. Now, in the coming days, we will see at least three more new 7-seater SUVs launching in India to rival the Toyota Fortuner, which we will talk about in this piece.

1. MG Majestor

MG Motor India will soon launch a new flagship SUV in the form of the Majestor to rival the Toyota Fortuner in India. Being showcased at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo, it is expected to be sold via the MG Select premium dealerships. Some media reports suggest that the Majestor is the facelifted version of the Gloster. However, it is clear that even after the launch of MG Majestor, the Gloster will not be discontinued.

The Tayron will share most of the styling elements and comfort creatures with the Tiguan. Under the hood, it will boast of a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine which we have already seen with the Skoda Kodiaq. This engine is capable of churning out top power of 201 bhp and peak torque of 320 Nm while linked to a 7-speed DCT automatic unit. VW could locally assemble the Tayron at its production facility in Aurangabad to keep the pricing aggressive.

Ford India is likely to make a comeback in the Indian market in 2026 after a gap of nearly five years. The brand stated that it will use the Chennai facility initially for global exports. However, it will also sell a couple of models in the Indian market and the Endeavour could be one of them. For the unversed, Ford Endeavour is widely regarded as one of the most capable and refined 7-seater SUVs in India and we could finally see the SUV back on our roads soon.

Jaguar Land Rover Recalls Over 1,21,500 Vehicles for Suspension Knuckle Defect

2018 Range Rover Sport

JLR to recall 1,21,500 vehicles over suspension knuckle defect amid falling profits

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) will recall more than 1,21,500 vehicles in the United States due to a potential defect in the aluminium front suspension knuckles, according to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The issue affects Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models and could increase the risk of a crash if the component cracks.

The suspension knuckles link the front wheels to parts such as the brake assembly. In June, the NHTSA launched a preliminary investigation into 91,856 JLR vehicles, focusing on 2014–2017 Range Rover Sport models, to determine the scope and cause of the defect. The recall expands beyond that initial probe.

Business Impact Amid Tariffs and Weak Demand

JLR, a UK-based subsidiary of Tata Motors, has been facing pressure from softer demand and the impact of US tariffs. Tata Motors recently reported a consolidated net profit of Rs. 4003 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2025 — a 62.2% drop compared to the same period last year and 53.2% lower than the previous quarter.

The company attributed the decline to reduced volumes across segments, lower JLR profitability, and the planned phase-out of older Jaguar models. JLR’s quarterly revenue fell 9.2% year-on-year to £6.6 billion (approximately Rs. 67,320 crore), reflecting lower wholesale volumes.

The recall underscores ongoing challenges for JLR in the US market as it manages product transitions and navigates trade-related pressures.

BMW Reportedly Developing Rugged Flagship SUV To Challenge Mercedes G-Class

BMW X7 40i M Sport 50 Jahre M Edition Price

BMW is developing a rugged flagship SUV to rival the Mercedes G-Class

BMW is said to be working on a new top-tier SUV aimed at competing directly with established luxury off-roaders like the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, Lexus LX and Range Rover. The model, internally referred to as the G74, is expected to debut in the second half of 2029 and could replace the XM as BMW’s flagship offering.

Positioned for Off-Road Capability

The G74 will reportedly be built on the next-generation X5’s unibody platform rather than the X7’s, a move that may enhance its agility and performance on challenging terrain. Industry speculation suggests that the SUV will retain internal combustion power, aligning with market trends that have seen limited demand for electric luxury off-roaders in this segment.

BMW’s recent moves, such as introducing the X5 Silver Anniversary Edition with enhanced off-road capabilities, indicate growing interest in vehicles designed for adventure. The G74 is expected to feature rugged styling, upgraded suspension systems and advanced off-road software to boost its capability in demanding environments.

Potential Successor to the XM

The arrival of the G74 may signal the end of the XM, BMW’s high-performance SUV launched as the first standalone M model since the M1 sports car. Forecasts suggest XM production could wrap up in late 2028, just ahead of the G74’s planned introduction. Unlike the road-focused XM, the G74 would be geared toward rugged utility, appealing to buyers who prioritise capability as well as luxury.

An M-badged variant of the G74 is also possible, offering performance levels to rival the Mercedes-AMG G63 while maintaining its off-road credentials. However, competing for G-Class buyers will be a challenge, as the model enjoys strong brand loyalty in key markets like the US.

If realised, the G74 could mark a significant shift in BMW’s SUV strategy, filling a long-standing gap in its portfolio and broadening its appeal in the high-end luxury SUV segment.
