New Tata Compact SUVs Arriving Over The Next 2 Years – Key Info

GaadiWaadi -

TATA H2X CONCEPT

Here we have explained the possible under Rs. 10 lakh compact SUVs from Tata over the next couple of years in India

Tata Motors has charted out an aggressive long-term roadmap to overhaul its PV lineup. The brand intends to introduce new generations of existing products alongside all-new nameplates – ensuring relevance across traditional ICE as well as electric categories. The strategy extends till the end of the decade with around 30 upcoming launches forming the backbone.

Seven models will arrive as brand new nameplates emphasising Tata’s plan to branch into new categories and body types. The upcoming set of launches is expected to feature the reborn Sierra, the Avinya electric series and more. In the compact category, prototypes of the refreshed Tata Punch have been spotted several times in recent months.

The test vehicles suggest that a facelift is underway with revised styling elements such as makeovers to the grille, bumpers and wheels along with an updated equipment list. This mid-cycle change will apply first to the petrol version while the top-selling Punch EV could get enhancements to the battery and range down the line.

Work on the third generation Tata Nexon, carrying the internal codename Garud, is believed to be moving ahead. The sub-four-metre SUV is tipped to sit on a heavily reworked version of the familiar X1 platform and it could denote a big leap over the current model. It will be interesting to see if it gets any notable mechanical upgrades or not.

Beyond platform improvements, the forthcoming Nexon may undergo a wide-ranging makeover. Both the bodywork and the interior may see big updates. Expect a new design language on the outside while the cabin could move upmarket with better surface materials and new finishes. Added equipment and modern technologies are also set to play a role.

Tata is said to be developing a new compact SUV that borrows heavily from the design cues of the soon-to-arrive Sierra. Internally tagged Scarlet, the SUV is tipped to feature an upright stance and squared-off profile – essentially shrinking the Sierra’s proportions into a smaller package.

Positioned to sit above the Punch in the lineup, the model is still a few years away from reaching showrooms. The homegrown manufacturer may consider adding hybrid models to its portfolio if it sees strong demand too.

Mahindra Developing NU_IQ Based SUVs With Flexible Powertrain Options

GaadiWaadi -

Mahindra Vision X (1)

Mahindra NU_IQ architecture will go into the production phase in a couple of years giving rise to a range of new SUVs

At its Independence Day event this year, Mahindra took the wraps off four new SUV concepts alongside an all-new vehicle architecture named NU_IQ. The flexible platform has been confirmed to underpin a series of upcoming models including road-ready iterations of the prototypes showcased. Mahindra’s outlined roadmap makes it evident that the approach will deepen its footprint in the competitive SUV market.

Mahindra has confirmed that future models built on this base will measure between 3.9 metres and 4.3 metres – positioning them squarely in the compact and midsize SUV categories. Thanks to a 2.65-metre wheelbase, interior packaging is expected to deliver ample room and everyday practicality. The NU_IQ setup has been brought up with enough flexibility to accommodate both FWD and AWD drivetrains.

Starting in 2027, Mahindra intends to base its next generation of SUVs on the NU_IQ modular platform. The architecture has been engineered with adaptability in mind – making it suitable for a wide variety of body types and market requirements – both in India and overseas. Its design supports multiple propulsion choices – from traditional petrol and diesel engines and hybrid configurations to pure electric drivetrains.

Mahindra Vision S (2)

Mahindra has confirmed that the NU_IQ based SUVs will offer a ground clearance of up to 227 mm. One of the most striking highlights of the NU_IQ base is its flat-floor layout which Mahindra claims will pave the way for the industry’s first ICE-powered SUV to feature such a configuration.

Complementing the hardware is a suite of advanced electronic and digital features grouped under the NU_UX label. At the showcase, the company also pulled the wraps off four concept models on this architecture – carrying the names Vision.S, Vision.T, Vision.SXT and Vision.X. The company has also focused on integrating weight-saving construction techniques.

At the same time, the structure has been devised to comply with stringent global safety norms, ensuring strength without compromising refinement. The Vision.S concept serves as an early window into what could evolve into the next-generation Scorpio – albeit with a potentially more compact footprint than the current model.

The Vision.T is being positioned as a possible blueprint for a five-door Thar with an electrified powertrain. In contrast, the Vision.SXT appears more like a design study that will likely remain a concept. It embodies a rugged and utility-oriented spin on the Vision.T – distinguished by a small cargo bay at the rear to enhance practicality. Meanwhile, the Vision.X has been outlined as a compact crossover candidate.

New Hyundai venue

The second-generation Hyundai Venue is expected to be launched on October 24, featuring comprehensive updates both inside and out

The Venue has been a consistent seller for Hyundai in India. The compact SUV was launched back in the year 2021, and it received a mid-cycle facelift update in 2022. Now, Hyundai is ready to launch the next-generation Venue in the country, with an all-new exterior design, overhauled interiors and some new features. Let’s look at what we know so far about the upcoming New-Gen Hyundai Venue.

The test mule of the sub-4-meter SUV has already been spotted multiple times, and the spy images have revealed some important details. The highlight of the second-generation Venue will be its new exterior design, which will likely take some inspiration from the Creta. Upfront, it will feature a vertically stacked headlamp setup, paired with connected C-shaped LED DRLs.

It will get a larger grille running between the headlamps, and there are two parking sensors at the front, along with radar on the lower grille. The sub-4-meter SUV will sport revised bumpers, new connected LED tail lamps and a fresh set of alloy wheels.

The latest spy shots gave a sneak peek at the new cabin layout of the SUV. We can clearly spot a dual-connected screen setup, working as the infotainment system and digital instrument cluster. The screens are slightly angled towards the driver. Apart from this, a new steering wheel will be a part of the package. The central AC vents are positioned below the infotainment system, and there seems to be a generous use of physical controls in the centre console.

The dashboard of the new Venue will get a layered pattern, in the interest of a premium appeal. Talking about the features, the new-gen Hyundai Venue will see a slew of new equipment, including front parking sensors, Level 2 ADAS, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, wireless charger and more.

Mechanically, the Hyundai Venue will remain unchanged. Under the hood, it will continue to be powered by the familiar 1.2-litre petrol, 1.0-litre tGDi petrol and 1.5-litre CRDi diesel engines. It remains to be seen whether Hyundai offers an AT gearbox with the diesel engine, which the current model misses out on.

In terms of pricing, expect the compact SUV to command a premium of Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 80,000 over the outgoing model, however, nothing can be confirmed as of now. Once launched, the next-gen Venue will rekindle its rivalry with the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV3XO, Kia Sonet and Skoda Kylaq, amongst others.

Renault Kiger Facelift Teased, New Logo Visible In The Teaser Video

Renault is set to launch the Kiger facelift in India on August 24, 2025. The company recently shared another teaser video that reveals the updated 2D diamond logo on the front grille. This follows the first teaser that showcased a redesigned C-shaped LED taillamp.

Design Changes

The new teaser highlights the Kiger in a fresh green shade, which adds a modern appeal to the compact SUV. Although the full design remains hidden, visible changes suggest subtle styling tweaks. The updated logo resembles the one that was introduced on the recently launched Renault Triber facelift.

Earlier spy shots reveal that the facelifted Kiger retains the same silhouette as the outgoing version. The alloy wheels also seem similar in design. A split-headlamp setup at the front adds a slightly revised yet familiar touch to the SUV’s styling.

Interior

Inside details are yet to be revealed, but mild interior updates are expected. Renault may enhance materials and connectivity features to improve the overall cabin experience. These changes will likely align with updates seen on other recent Renault models.

Engine

Under the hood, the Kiger facelift should carry forward the same powertrain options. It will likely include a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with 72 HP and a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol producing 100 HP. Transmission choices include manual, AMT for the NA variant, and CVT for the turbo engine, with CNG possibly as a dealer-fit option.

Outlook

Renault has released two teasers so far without revealing the entire vehicle. These teasers have increased excitement ahead of the official launch.

Mahindra Thar 3-Door Facelift Launch Next Month – What To Expect

GaadiWaadi -

Mahindra 3-Door Thar

Expected to go on sale in the first week of September 2025, the Mahindra Thar facelift will get an updated exterior design, revised interiors and new features

Mahindra & Mahindra has been on a roll since the launch of the Thar back in 2020. The rugged off-road SUV is quite a popular choice among new car buyers, thanks to its road presence, high ground clearance, potent powertrain and go-anywhere capability.

Over the years, the Thar nameplate has seen an expansion with the launch of the pocket-friendly RWD (rear-wheel-drive) version and the more practical Thar Roxx with a proper 5-door setup.  Now, the second-generation Thar 3-door is due for a mid-life facelift update, as after 5 years of its initial debut, the SUV needs a fresh appeal in order to continue its momentum in the market.

The Thar 3-door facelift will most likely be launched in the first week of September, with the bookings expected to start soon after. The delivery timeline cannot be confirmed as of now, however, going by Mahindra’s typical launch strategy, we could expect the deliveries of the new model to commence in the month of October.

Talking about the updates, the facelifted Thar will get an all-new front fascia, inspired by the Thar Roxx. A new front grille, LED headlamps with integrated C-shaped DRLs and a revised front bumper will be a part of the package. It will get a new set of alloy wheels, and the tail lights will get a new pattern, albeit in the familiar housing.

The highlight of the Thar facelift will be its overhauled cabin layout, which will see the addition of a free-standing 10.25-inch infotainment system. It will most likely get the Mahindra’s AdrenoX connected car tech, with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Moreover, it will get a new steering wheel seen on the Thar Roxx, Scorpio N and XUV700.

The centre console will likely be tweaked to accommodate a wireless charger, and it could also get an automatic climate control system. In addition to this, we expect the updated model to come with a fully digital instrument cluster. The Mahindra Thar 3-Door facelift will continue to be powered by the familiar 1.5-litre turbo diesel, 2.2-litre mHawk diesel and 2.0-litre mStallion petrol engines.

It will be available in both RWD and 4WD configurations. The Indian SUV manufacturer discontinued the soft-top roof variants of the Thar earlier this year, standardising the hard-top roof across the line-up. It will be interesting to see whether the upcoming facelift model will get the option of a soft-top roof or not.
