Mahindra Vision S (2)

The popular Thar, Scorpio and XUV700 nameplates will be strengthened with the arrival of new updates and more iterations

Mahindra is preparing for a packed product cycle as several launches are in the pipeline. The mix will include updated versions of its existing bestsellers along with fresh entries to broaden the portfolio. Among the highlights, the Bolero, Thar and XUV700 are each scheduled to receive significant updates in the near future to keep them competitive in their respective segments:

1&2. 3-Door Mahindra Thar Facelift & Thar EV:

Mahindra is actively readying the updated three-door Thar which has been seen testing multiple times in camouflaged form. The SUV will borrow design cues from the Thar Roxx including a refreshed grille, revised alloy wheels and new bumper designs alongside subtle tweaks to the headlamps and tail lamps.

The cabin will mirror that of the Roxx in multiple ways too as new equipment will be introduced. It will go on sale in the coming months while the electric version of the Thar was revealed in its concept form last month and it will be heading to showrooms in the future as well.

3&4. Mahindra XUV 700 Facelift & XEV 7e:

The facelifted Mahindra XUV700 has been spotted on test runs several times. Expected to launch in the first quarter of 2026, the updated SUV will introduce a new look while retaining its familiar proportions. Key changes will likely include redesigned alloy wheels, updated bumpers and a revised grille.

The cabin is where the biggest transformation is expected. Mahindra is reportedly readying an all-new dashboard layout that will introduce a triple-display setup consisting of a large central infotainment screen, a fully digital instrument cluster and a dedicated passenger-side display.

The overhaul will likely accompany new trims and upholstery. The XUV.e8 concept based XEV 7e, taking plenty of inspiration from the XUV700, is also in the works for debut in 2026.

5. New Compact Mahindra Scorpio:

Mahindra revealed four concepts and a new architecture known as the NU_IQ last month. Amongst the highlights was the Vision S concept previewing a more compact version of the Scorpio in its next-gen avatar. Since the test mules have been spotted multiple times already, we can expect it to launch sometime next year but the NU_IQ based models are only set to enter production in 2027.

3 Upcoming Under 10 Lakh Tata SUVs In India

GaadiWaadi -

TATA H2X CONCEPT

Tata Motors lines up three new small SUVs for launch later this decade, eyeing a stronger market share in the hotly contested sub-4 metre segment

Tata Motors’ next product offensive will include a wide range of new SUVs, including three sub-4 metre models designed to compete in India’s most competitive segment. The company will launch two of these three sub-4 small SUVs within three years.

This November, Tata Motors will launch the facelifted Punch. The updated model will likely feature a thoroughly revised exterior inspired by the Punch.ev and have tweaked headlamps, redesigned bumpers, and new 16-inch alloy wheels. More significant improvements are expected inside, with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment replacing the current model’s 7.0-inch unit and a 4-inch driver information display being swapped with a larger panel.

The new Tata Punch will likely come with the same 1.2-litre petrol and petrol-CNG engines as the current model. The same goes for the 5-speed manual and automated manual transmission options. That said, while the current Punch CNG is available only with the 5-speed manual transmission, the new Punch CNG is expected to be available even with the 5-speed automated manual transmission.

Sometime in 2027, Tata Motors will launch the second-generation Nexon (codename: Garud). Based on a thoroughly updated version of the current model’s X1 platform, the redesigned model will likely be offered with the familiar 1.2-litre petrol and petrol-CNG engines. However, it may not be offered with the 1.5-litre diesel engine, owing to the stricter BS7 emission norms that could shoot up costs to an unfeasible level. The future model should boast a host of new premium features, including a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, power driver’s seat, and Level 2 ADAS.

Also in the pipeline is a younger sibling of the next-gen Sierra, internally called ‘Scarlet.’ This model will feature a boxy and masculine character like Mahindra’s Thar and Maruti Suzuki’s Jimny. However, unlike these body-on-frame sub-4metre SUVs, Tata Motors’ squarish sub-4 metre SUV will be a monocoque model, prioritising comfort, driving dynamics, and efficiency above off-road prowess.

The Scarlet’s monocoque construction will also make it easy for Tata Motors to develop a pure electric derivative, which could potentially compete with Kia’s upcoming Syros EV. Positioned between the Nexon and Sierra, the future model could be priced from around 9.5 lakh (ex-showroom). We expect this model to arrive in showrooms sometime in 2028.

4 New Tata Cars To Be Launched In The Coming Months

GaadiWaadi -

Struggling to defend its place among India’s top three carmakers, Tata Motors plans a new product offensive for the next two quarters

Tata Motors is planning two action-packed quarters starting in November, with no less than four launches lined up to inject excitement in its showrooms. The upcoming Tata launches will include both fresh nameplates and existing product enhancements.

1. New Tata Punch

Sometime in November, Tata Motors will likely roll out a facelift for its best-selling car – the Punch. The company is expected to bring subtle enhancements to the micro-SUV’s exterior, with revisions to the bumpers and grilles and a fresh set of 16-inch alloy wheels. Interior enhancements are likely to be more significant, including a two-spoke steering wheel with a flattened bottom and an illuminated logo, a new digital instrument cluster, and new trim and seat covers.

tata punch facelift

The new Tata Punch is unlikely to feature any mechanical upgrades. It should carry over the current model’s 1.2-litre petrol and petrol-CNG engines and 5-speed manual and automated manual transmissions. The Tata Punch.ev is already an upgraded car and unlikely to see any revisions anytime soon.

2. Tata Harrier petrol

tata-harrier-facelift_-9.jpg

Sometime in November, nearly six years after launching the Harrier, Tata Motors is expected add a petrol engine option to the model, welcoming a new segment of customers who either have a lower budget or whose use case doesn’t justify a diesel engine. The company will offer an all-new 1.5-litre turbocharged direct injection petrol engine producing 168 hp and 280 Nm of torque in this model, almost certainly with both manual and automatic transmission options.

3. Tata Safari petrol

Tata Safari Dark Bharat Mobility Expo 2024 1

Along with the Tata Harrier, the Tata Safari should get the 1.5-litre TGDI petrol engine in November, and with the same manual and automatic transmission options. This engine may offer enough grunt for a relaxed drive with all seven seats occupied, but it might not be punchy enough for a dynamic experience.

4. Tata Sierra.ev and Tata Sierra ICE

Tata Motors is developing an all-new Sierra, and this time around, it plans to offer the SUV even in a pure electric variant. In fact, the company is likely to launch the ICE Sierra first, possibly in December, and then the Sierra.ev a few weeks later.

Sierra SUV

The upcoming Sierra twins would have a squarish silhouette that gives them a commanding road presence and maximises space, both for passengers and luggage. Tata Motors is likely to equip them with a few features it has not offered on any of its models so far, including a passenger touchscreen and a lounge-inspired four-seat layout with individual seats and extra legroom in the back. On the specifications front, the all-new Sierra’s highlight will be the all-new 1.5-litre TGDI engine, while the Sierra.ev should boast a segment-first dual-motor AWD setup.

3 Upcoming Kia Premium SUVs – What We Know So Far

GaadiWaadi -

Kia EV2 Concept

Kia aims to regain lost ground with an influx of premium SUVs next year, including fully electric and hybrid models

South Korean automaker Kia is likely to launch three premium SUVs in India next year, in a new renewed push to strengthen its position in segments priced above 10 lakh rupees (ex-showroom). The company will target both aspirational and affluent customers with the upcoming SUVs.

Sometime in the first quarter of 2026, Kia will roll out its first made-in-India electric SUV – the Syros EV. Derived from the ICE Syros, it will not have extensive design changes. We expect a covered grille with active air flaps to be the key distinguishing element on the design front. The charging port will be on the right front fender.

The Syros EV will likely come with LFP batteries, manufactured locally by Exide Energy, and it should be able to travel up to around 400 km on a full charge. A vehicle-to-load (V2L) bi-directional charging function will likely be available. Kia could launch the Syros EV in the 15-20 lakh (ex-showroom) price range.

In the second quarter of 2026, Kia will likely launch the second generation of the model that put Kia on the map in India – the Seltos. The next-gen Seltos will have a familiar crossover character, but it will shy away from the conventional looks of the current model. Spy shots have shown it featuring squarish headlamps with funky graphics, EV5-like vertical tail lamps connected via a light band, and new geometric designs for the alloy wheels.

Kia is likely to launch the next-gen Seltos with an array of new comfort and convenience features, including ventilated rear seats, a power tailgate, and Trinity Panoramic Display running ccNC software. Also in the pipeline are a wide range of new and improved advanced driver assistance systems with Level 2 autonomy. We expect the prices of the next-gen Seltos to start at around 11 lakh (ex-showroom).

Kia Sorento
Representational

As early as the end of 2026, Kia could launch its first hybrid SUV in India, which could be the rumoured Sorento. There’s a new chassis code for the Sorento Kia plans to launch in India – MQ4i, which indicates the company is planning full-fledged manufacturing and some key ground-level changes specific to our market. While the global Sorento Hybrid has a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine, Kia could be planning a smaller, 1.5-litre turbocharged engine for our market that allows deeper localisation.

Skoda Kushaq, VW Taigun To Get Facelifts In India Next Year

GaadiWaadi -

Skoda Kushaq Facelift (1) (1)

Skoda and Volkswagen working on a mid-cycle refresh for their Hyundai Creta rivals, with plans to launch the refreshed models within next six months

The Skoda Kushaq and VW Taigun, Volkswagen Group’s maiden products from the India 2.0 project, are set to turn four years old soon and are due for a mid-life facelift. Road-testing of both updated SUVs is underway, with market launch expected by early 2026.

Following the launch cadence of the existing models, the new Skoda Kushaq will arrive first. The facelifted Kushaq will also have a four-eye face, a signature trait of Skoda SUVs, but in a new avatar. The headlamps should have revised graphics and, unlike the current model, feature LED technology across the trim line-up, even for the turn indicators.

Other expected changes at the front include larger fog lamps and a redesigned radiator grille and bumper. On the sides, the new Kushaq will likely come with new 17-inch alloy wheels, while at the rear, all-LED, connected combination lamps and a revised bumper are the expected visual changes.

The interior of the facelifted Kushaq should feature a new trim and upholstery, a redesigned dashboard, and an upgraded infotainment system. Unfortunately, the touch-operated climate control system of the current model will be seen again. Similarly, there’s no word on the 8-inch low-cost digital instrument cluster being replaced by the 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster with customisable displays that Skoda offers in the Kamiq in Europe. A welcome change should be the availability of Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems and a 360º camera system, which would offer significantly improved safety.

No mechanical changes are planned at launch. Later in 2026, though, Skoda will replace the 6-speed automatic transmission it offers with the 1.0-litre TSI engine with a more efficient, 8-speed automatic transmission. Skoda will likely launch the new Kushaq priced from around 11 lakh (ex-showroom).

The facelifted VW Taigun should arrive in showrooms sometime in March or April next year. The updated model should feature restyled bumpers, all-LED headlights and tail lights with new graphics, and new 17-inch alloy wheels. Interior updates may include new seat covers and decor materials, a revised dashboard design, and improved software for the infotainment system. A surround view monitor and Level 2 ADAS should provide enhanced safety.

Volkswagen will continue offering the Taigun with the same engines and transmissions post facelift. The company will replace the 6-speed automatic transmission paired with the 1.0-litre TSI engine with the aforementioned 8-speed automatic transmission about half a year after launch, though. Expect prices of the new Taigun to start close to 11 lakh (ex-showroom).

8 New Mahindra Premium SUVs Waiting To Arriving Soon In India

GaadiWaadi -

Mahindra Vision.T

Here we have listed the 8 new Mahindra premium SUVs that are set to be introduced in India over the next 12-24 months

Mahindra & Mahindra is busy test the facelifted XUV700 with prototypes often spotted on the road pointing to an early 2026 debut. The refreshed SUV will sport a handful of visual tweaks such as reprofiled bumpers, redesigned lighting elements and a new set of alloy wheels while the signature flush-fitting door handles will continue unchanged.

The rear end of the updated XUV700 is expected to get its share of revisions – complemented by the addition of new colour choices. Step inside and the 2026 iteration will likely bring a more premium feel, thanks to new upholstery options, reworked trims and an updated cabin theme – all while keeping the overall dimensions of the SUV unchanged.

The highlight of the cabin will undoubtedly be the revamped dashboard, now incorporating a triple-screen setup that combines a large central touchscreen, a full-digital driver’s display and a dedicated screen for the front passenger. Under the hood, Mahindra is not expected to make major changes with the proven 2.0-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines set to continue as they are.

Gearbox choices will remain familiar too with the six-speed manual and six-speed torque converter automatic staying the same. Looking ahead, Mahindra might explore hybrid iterations of the XEV 9e and BE 6 – though nothing has been officially announced so far. Meanwhile, the XUV.e8 – an all-electric derivative of the XUV700 first showcased in concept form – is already deep into its testing phase with a launch likely next year.

The upcoming three-row electric SUV will largely mirror the size and stance of the current ICE-powered XUV700 but subtle EV-specific cues such as a sealed-off grille and bespoke lighting elements will set it apart. On the inside, Mahindra is likely to pack it with features borrowed from its born-electric portfolio.

Mahindra-XEV-7e-XUV-700-EV.jpgMahindra appears to be preparing the production-ready BE Rall-E for launch with camouflaged prototypes already sighted on Indian roads. Positioned as a tougher, adventure-ready derivative of the BE 6, the SUV will place strong emphasis on off-road ability. Power is expected to come from the same battery packs offered in the BE 6.

The electric version of the five-door Mahindra Thar was recently showcased in its concept avatar while the zero-emission Scorpio cannot be ruled out either in the coming years. The NU_IQ platform will enter production in 2027 and it will spawn its share of upmarket offerings too. It must be noted that the facelifted ICE three-door Thar is also under development.

5 Upcoming 7-Seater Hybrid SUVs In India – Hyundai To Toyota

GaadiWaadi -

Renault-Boreal-1.jpg

The list of upcoming 7-seater hybrid SUVs includes models from Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Toyota, Renault and Nissan

Automakers are increasingly leaning on hybrids as the connecting link in their SUV strategies with several new launches centred around this technology. While electric vehicles face hurdles such as limited charging networks and concerns over driving range, hybrids are stepping in as the practical bridge – offering better fuel efficiency without demanding a full transformation to electrification.

The upcoming models will serve as a litmus test for hybrid adoption in India. With multiple carmakers preparing to introduce hybrid models across varied price segments, it will be interesting to see how the market reacts. Here we have explained about all the possible three-row arrivals from brands like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Toyota, Renault and Nissan:

1. Hyundai 3-Row SUV:

Hyundai is said to be working on an all-new SUV codenamed Ni1i with a launch timeline pegged for around 2027. Positioned to bridge the gap between the Alcazar and Tucson, it is tipped to be one of the brand’s headline introductions in the Indian market. Initial reports indicate that it could be powered by a hybridised version of Hyundai’s familiar 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine.

2022 hyundai tucson-82&3. Renault Boreal & Nissan SUV:

Set to enter one of the most hotly contested spaces in the Indian market, Nissan’s upcoming midsize SUV will take aim at established players like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Mahindra Scorpio N. Following this launch, Nissan is also lining up a bigger three-row SUV which is likely to borrow styling cues and design DNA from the recently unveiled Renault Boreal.

Renault-Boreal-2.jpg

Although the Renault Boreal is expected to eventually head to Indian showrooms, its launch is still a couple of years away. Before that, attention will shift to the all-new Duster, slated for arrival next year. The upcoming Duster could also gain a hybrid powertrain at a later stage and the same system may extend to its seven-seat derivative as well as the Nissan-badged counterpart.

4&5. 7-Seater Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder:

toyota hyryder-6

Rumours are mounting that Toyota Hyryder and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara could see extended three-row versions in the future. Growing demand for midsize SUVs with seven-seat layouts consolidates the case for such expansions. If launched, these longer models are expected to retain their existing hybrid powertrains with little to no mechanical changes.
