Mahindra XEV 7E EV

Most of the new SUVs we have mentioned here are expected to launch in India as early as next year

Mahindra & Mahindra is planning a huge product assault for 2026 with multiple new models waiting in the pipeline. The homegrown manufacturer will look to bring in new SUVs pertaining to both ICE and EV segments across different price brackets to lure in customers and we already have early glimpses of what is to come courtesy of spy images.

Following updates to the three door Thar, Bolero and Bolero Neo, Mahindra is gunning for the XUV700 next with a mid-cycle revision. The three row SUV will gain cosmetic enhancements inside and out while the familiar powertrain lineup will stay put. Besides visual changes, the interior will receive a triple screen layout and upgraded equipment list.

Lower down the range, the XUV 3XO based compact e-SUV is also under development and it will slot below the XUV400. It will be equipped with two battery packs with the likely claimed driving range going over 450 km. The born electric range currently comprises the XEV 9e and BE 6 and it has been well received by consumers since their market launch not too long ago.

Along the same lines, a more rugged and off-road focussed avatar of the BE 6 will arrive, mostly next year. More interestingly, the XUV.e8 concept based three-row electric SUV which is loosely connected with the ICE XUV700 is also set to launch in 2026 – giving Mahindra a certain edge in the electric vehicle space.

On the Independence Day 2025 event, Mahindra showcased four new concepts and a new architecture that will underpin a new breed of offerings from 2027. The first on the appears to be based on the Vision S concept as a compact SUV drawing design cues from the Scorpio N with upright finishes and tall pillars have been spotted several times.

Maruti Suzuki Posts 4.5 Lakh Bookings This Festive Season – Retails 3.25 Lakh Units

GaadiWaadi -

Maruti Dzire

Maruti Suzuki led the way, retailing a total of 3.25 lakh vehicles and racking up around 4.50 lakh bookings as car sales reached a new high this festive season

The country’s passenger car market certainly revved up during this year’s festive period with automakers reporting impressive sales growth in recent memory. The major factors that contributed to high volume numbers are timely arrival of lowered GST rates and attractive finance schemes which led to an enthusiastic buyer base that created ideal conditions for a massive season.

Sales during the Navratri-to-Diwali period rose sharply with early estimates indicating a year-on-year jump ranging between 15 and 35 per cent. Demand was particularly pronounced for SUVs and electric vehicles. As for manufacturers, Maruti Suzuki led the way, retailing a total of 3.25 lakh vehicles and racking up around 4.50 lakh bookings.

Dhanteras itself proved to be a record setting day with over 51,000 units finding new owners. Tata Motors also posted an unprecedented performance – delivering more than one lakh units – up roughly 33 per cent compared with the same period last year. SUVs were responsible for much of this growth with the Nexon crossed 38,000 units.

It led to a 73 per cent increase while the Punch added approximately 32,000 units with a 29 per cent YoY rise. The brand’s electric vehicle portfolio contributed over 10,000 deliveries pointing towards increased affinity with EVs in the mainstream market. Hyundai Motor India saw its sales climb about 30 per cent during this particular period with average daily deliveries hovering around 2,500 units.

It is worth noting that inquiries rose by roughly 10 per cent and bookings increased nearly 17 per cent. While the numbers are impressive, part of the surge may stem from pull-forward demand rather than purely organic growth. Final tallies are still being confirmed and the performances of smaller manufacturers may not yet be fully visible in the reported data.

Nevertheless, the 2025 festive season has provided automakers with a vital volume surge and sets the tone for the remainder of the fiscal year. It also emphasises the importance of getting the act together as product availability, promotional strategies and policy tailwinds needed to be spot on to capitalise on India’s highly seasonal buying patterns.

New Gen Hyundai Venue Spied Fully Undisguised In India

GaadiWaadi -

new-hyundai-venue-spied-india-1.jpg

New generation Hyundai Venue will go on sale on November 4 and it will get a slew of revisions inside and out along with a more premium features list

Recently, both new generation Hyundai Venue and its N Line variant were spotted thoroughly undisguised in Korea and now first spy images of the production-spec compact SUV have appeared on the internet without any camouflage in India revealing all the key exterior details we have accustomed to already.

The heavily revised model has been scheduled to make its India debut on November 4. The most noticeable change sits up front where the Venue now flaunts a wider and more imposing grille finished in Hyundai’s parametric design pattern. The sharper C-shaped LED daytime running lights merge into the grille while the headlamp clusters have been dropped lower into revised housings.

The bumper has been thickened and sculpted to lend the five-seater a more planted face. From the side profile, Hyundai has worked in subtle design updates as new character lines run across the body and heavier cladding can be seen around the wheel arches along with a set of new alloy wheels. The rear gains new connected LED taillights and bumper.

Meanwhile, the N Line variant doubles down on sportiness. It gets signature red detailing along the front and side skirts, a gloss black roof with matching rails and a bespoke dual-tone alloy design. At the back, the second-gen Venue N Line gets twin exhaust tips while a host of mechanical upgrades will also be implemented.

Step inside and the changes are even more dramatic. The dashboard has been completely reimagined featuring a minimalist horizontal layout topped by dual 12.3-inch displays seamlessly integrated under a single glass pane. Hyundai has added ambient lighting, a new centre console design and premium seat upholstery.

The multifunction steering wheel is new as well while a suite of Level 2 ADAS functions joins the list. Under the hood, Hyundai will retain its proven trio of engines – the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, the 1.5-litre diesel and the punchy 1.0-litre turbo petrol mill. The turbo unit will continue to produce 120 PS and 172 Nm, mated to either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DCT gearbox.

The all-new Hyundai Venue will resume its rivalry against the likes of the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Tata Punch, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Skoda Kylaq and Kia Syros.

tata sierra ev concept-2

Here we have explained about the possible upcoming Tata compact SUVs that are expected to launch within the next 2 years in India

Tata Motors is gearing up for a major SUV onslaught that will unfold over the next couple of years. The company, already strong in the compact SUV space, is now preparing to take things several notches higher with an expanded lineup that covers everything from micro SUVs to full-electric nameplates.

The brand’s product roadmap is easily one of its most aggressive yet with close to 30 models either new or significantly updated. Tata plans to introduce seven fresh nameplates as part of this strategy including the highly anticipated Sierra comeback, the futuristic Avinya EV lineup, and a brand-new compact SUV known internally by the codename “Scarlet.”

The focus, however, is firmly on the sub-four-metre SUV category where Tata has seen its strongest demand. Leading the pack will be the next-generation Nexon which will undergo a complete overhaul. Dubbed “Garud” inside Tata’s development circles, the new Nexon will move to a thoroughly revised version of the X1 platform.

Tata Hits Festive Peak With 1 Lakh Deliveries, SUV & EV Demand Soar

GaadiWaadi -

Tata Nexon

Tata delivered over one lakh vehicles in just 30 days with a huge 33 per cent jump compared to last year’s festive period

The festive stretch from Navratri to Diwali turned out to be a blockbuster run for Tata Motors with the carmaker delivering over one lakh vehicles in just 30 days – a huge 33 per cent jump compared to last year’s festive period. The Nexon remained the star performer in Tata’s lineup, clocking over 38,000 deliveries – a hefty 73 per cent growth over the previous year.

It continues to dominate the compact SUV space – drawing strength from its expansive range. It was also the most dispatched PV in India last month. The Punch, on the other hand, registered high volumes as well as its deliveries stood at around 32,000 units – up nearly 29 per cent on a year-on-year basis.

As has been the case in the past, the sub-four-metre offerings once again formed the backbone of Tata’s passenger vehicle volumes. Meanwhile, Tata’s EV portfolio posted its own milestone. Over 10,000 electric units found homes during this festive stretch with a 37 per cent improvement compared to last year.

With models like the Tiago EV and Punch EV gaining steady traction, Tata’s position as India’s EV frontrunner looks firmer than ever. What worked in the brand’s favour this year was its readiness on the ground. Dealers were better stocked, logistics were smoother and retail events were planned ahead in anticipation of customers flocking in.

Past years had seen demand outpacing supply but 2025’s festive calendar saw Tata preempting that by aligning production schedules well in advance. The result was quicker deliveries and minimal waiting periods across most popular models. With fresh product launches across both ICE and EV categories, the company expects the current momentum to spill into FY2026.

Our SUVs continue to lead this momentum — with the Nexon registering over 38,000 retails, an impressive 73% growth, while the Punch clocked 32,000 units, growing 29% year-on-year.”

Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Nissan To Launch 4 New MPVs In India

GaadiWaadi -

Hyundai Stargazer

Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, and Nissan plan to bring four new MPVs to Indian showrooms in the near-to mid-term future

SUVs may be dominating the Indian auto market, but MPVs continue holding significance among a sizeable chunk of family car buyers. In FY2025, MPVs enjoyed a 10% market share in India’s car market, and the demand is rising, as an increasing number of Indians hop on the trend of road trips and leisure travel.

Maruti Suzuki is already present in the MPV segment with the Ertiga and XL6, and in the next two years, it will expand to four models. The Indo-Japanese joint venture is working on an electric MPV codenamed ‘Maruti YMC,’ designed to be positioned against the Kia Carens Clavis EV. The company plans to launch it by September next year.

The Maruti YMC should come with 49 kWh and 61 kWh LFP battery packs, paired with 142 hp/192.5 Nm and 172 hp/192.5 Nm motors, respectively. It could deliver a range of up to around 475 km in the top variant. A Toyota-badged corporate cousin is also planned, and it should arrive a few months later.

Maruti Suzuki has been eyeing the sub-4 metre MPV space for years now and will finally foray into this segment in 2027. Internally called ‘Maruti YDB,’ the small MPV will be based on the Suzuki Solio, an A-segment Japanese MPV designed with proportions similar to kei cars but with a larger body and a bigger engine. Maruti Suzuki could offer this model with its new Z12E 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine as well as the upcoming series-hybrid system based on this engine.

Hyundai has been contemplating an India-focused MPV for well over a decade now. The company showcased the Hexa Space concept in 2012, previewing a potential Maruti Ertiga rival, and in 2015, it confirmed plans to launch such a model. The company shelved plans and shifted its focus to SUVs in light of changing consumer trends.

hyundai stargazer

Last week, at its first investor day event in India, Hyundai announced again that it plans to launch an MPV. This model will be completely different from the previously planned MPV, in line with the latest industry standards for comfort, connectivity, and safety, and incorporating Hyundai’s latest design language.

Globally, Hyundai offers three MPVs, namely Stargazer, Custo/Custin, and Staria. The Stargazer, the smallest one of the trio, is the perfect fit for India. Hyundai developed it as an Ertiga rival primarily for Southeast Asian markets. That said, the model is already three years old and received its mid-life facelift recently. Hyundai may directly bring the next-gen model here sometime in 2027, based on the same platform as the next-gen Creta scheduled to arrive in February 2028.

Upcoming Nissan MPV

Nissan couldn’t succeed with its first MPV in India, the Evalia, which was significantly larger and more spacious than the Maruti Ertiga. The company now plans to make another attempt at MPVs, but this time in a lower segment. It is working on a rebadged version of the Renault Triber and has commenced its road testing, having scheduled its launch in February 2026.

Top 25 selling cars of September 2025

September 2025 car sales witnessed drastic changes in top 25, Tata Nexon leads

September 2025 top 25 car sales list revealed, Tata Nexon tops the chart. There are 10 Maruti cars in this list, followed by 4 cars from Mahindra, 3 cars from Hyundai, Tata and Kia, 2 from Toyota.

Tata Motors achieved a historic milestone as the Tata Nexon became the country’s best-selling car, with over 22,500 units dispatched, the highest-ever monthly sales figure for a single Tata model. The company’s success continued with the Tata Punch also securing a position within the Top 5, marking a rare occasion where two Tata models featured among the top performers.

Interestingly, hatchbacks were absent from the Top 5 list. Despite benefiting from recent GST reductions, which particularly favoured smaller cars, consumer preference has continued shifting toward sub-4-metre SUVs. Industry observers note a growing inclination among buyers for EVs and CNG-powered vehicles, with Tata reporting nearly double the EV sales year-on-year, alongside record-breaking CNG vehicle numbers.

The recent GST rate revisions appear to have accelerated purchase decisions, with many automakers noting a sharp rise in bookings during the latter half of September. The full extent of this momentum is expected to reflect in October 2025 sales figures.

Among other strong performers, Hyundai Creta maintained its dominance in the mid-size SUV category and secured the third position overall, registering its best-ever monthly sales. Meanwhile, Maruti Wagon R continued as the country’s most popular hatchback, taking the seventh spot.

Out of 25 cars in the list, 10 cars have witnessed negative year-on-year growth. What are your thoughts on the top 25 selling cars of September 2025. Let us know in the comments section below.
