As part of introducing 15 new cars in India by 2030, Toyota is expected to bring in a host of new SUVs over the next calendar year

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has been reaping benefits of an expansive product range in the domestic market courtesy of its association with Suzuki and its familiar premium offerings. Doubling down on its efforts to bring in 15 new models by 2030, the Japanese auto giant is expected to bring in as many as five new cars and here we have listed them:

1) & 2) New Gen Hilux & Fortuner

With Toyota introducing the all-new ninth-generation Hilux globally, attention has once again turned to the brand’s future SUV plans, especially considering the strong mechanical connection it shares with the Fortuner. The reveal hints at a more radical evolution ahead, suggesting that the next-generation Fortuner will arrive with a sharper attitude, a tougher visual identity and a substantially updated cabin layout.

New Gen Hilux

Built around Toyota’s latest “Tough and Agile” design philosophy inspired by the Land Cruiser family, the new Hilux gains a more vertical stance, a chunkier front profile, slimmer interconnected headlamps and a squared-off fascia that the upcoming Fortuner is also expected to mirror. The wide range of powertrain options seen on the Hilux – including petrol, diesel, 48V hybrid and even a fully electric BEV variant – opens up several possibilities for the future Fortuner lineup. While the new Hilux may arrive in India next year, the next-gen Fortuner can’t be ruled out either.

3) New Land Cruiser Prado

The latest Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is attracting considerable attention across international markets and is likely to arrive in India sometime next year as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) import. Built on Toyota’s TNGA-F ladder-frame platform, the premium SUV features a 2.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine supported by a 1.87 kWh hybrid battery pack. Working together with an integrated electric motor and an 8-speed automatic gearbox, the electrified powertrain generates a combined output of 326 hp.

4) Urban Cruiser BEV

The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, which will go on sale next month, will give rise to a Toyota sibling in the form of the Urban Cruiser BEV. Made its global debut in Brussels a while ago, the five-seater midsize SUV sits on the same platform and use battery options as the e Vitara. It will boast of range of more than 500 km between charges.

5) Updated Urban Cruiser Hyryder

Toyota-Hyryder-Festive-Limited-Edition.jpg

The mid-cycle update to the Urban Cruiser Hyryder is also expected to arrive sometime next year. It will more likely get cosmetic updates while the cabin could gain a host of new features including Level 2 ADAS. However, the familiar 1.5L mild hybrid petrol and 1.5L strong hybrid petrol engines will be retained.

Kia New 7-Seater SUV Launching Likely Next Year – What To Expect?

GaadiWaadi -

Kia Sorento (4)

Kia’s global D-segment SUV, comparable to the Hyundai Santa Fe once sold in India, could be finally launched next year

With models like the EV6, EV9, and Syros, Kia has made several attempts at creating new premium segments in the Indian car market. In 2026, the company is expected to set foot into the existing premium three-row SUV segment with the Sorento, which would compete directly with the Skoda Kodiaq and the upcoming VW Tayron.

Globally, the Kia Sorento is classified as a D-segment SUV and is currently in its fourth generation. Introduced in February 2020, the fourth-generation model was given a facelift in July 2023. Kia has imported a prototype of the latest model to India and is expected to conduct extensive road testing until launch, which we expect in the festive season of 2026.

The Kia Sorento features an elegant and largely conventional exterior, something that is rarely said about the brand’s newer models. An upright bonnet, vertical headlamps with T-shaped daytime running lights, a broad and rectangular radiator grille with a hexagonal motif, and vertical tail lights with diagonal LEDs are some of the key features of the three-row SUV. Kia offers as big as 20-inch wheels globally, but in India, it may use only 19-inch wheels.

Kia Sorento (5)
Kia Sorento

The interior of the Kia Sorento has a sleek and modern aesthetic with a horizontal dashboard that subtly connects with the front door panels, a four-spoke steering wheel featuring an off-centred brand logo, and a neat centre console featuring an electronic parking brake. A curved panel on the dashboard integrates a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, both running the Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) operating system.

Kia offers the Sorento in six- and seven-seat versions, but which of the two it plans to offer in India is yet to be known. The company will likely launch it exclusively with a hybrid powertrain, which combines a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 132.4 kW (177 hp) and 265 Nm of torque with a permanent magnet synchronous motor that develops 47.7 kW (64 hp) and 250 Nm of torque. This combination delivers 176 kW (236 hp) of total power and 380 Nm of total torque.

Kia Sorento (2)

A 1.49 kWh battery pack located under the front seat powers the electric motor. A 6-speed automatic transmission is standard in the hybrid variant, while a mechanical all-wheel drive system is optional. The Sorento Hybrid FWD accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.8 seconds and the Sorento Hybrid AWD in 9.0 seconds, and both have a top speed of 196 km/h.

According to European specifications, the Sorento Hybrid delivers a fuel economy of 15.2 km/l in the FWD configuration and 14.3 km/l in the AWD configuration. We think Kia will only bring the former to our market, priced at slightly over 35 lakh (ex-showroom).

3 New Tata Sierra Rivals Arriving Soon In India

GaadiWaadi -

Dacia Duster (1)

The all-new Tata Sierra may be a compelling pick in its segment right now, but there’s more to come in this space soon

The all-new Tata Sierra won’t be the only new mid-size SUV coming to showrooms soon. Three more mid-size SUVs are set to go on sale in the next six months, all equally enticing in looks, value, and capability. On 10 December, Kia will unveil the next-gen Seltos, and it is likely to launch this model in January. The 2026 Seltos is said to be about 100 mm longer than the current model, which would make it bigger than even the Jeep Compass, and some of that growth is expected to improve the wheelbase, too.

The next-gen Seltos will feature a familiar shape but a more aggressive design, a change that will be particularly noticeable at the front. Vertical headlamps and daytime running lights will give the redesigned model a stronger road presence, and a wider and boxier radiator grille will further give it a more rugged look.

At the back, the all-new Seltos will feature EV5-inspired vertical tail lights. The interior would have a more upscale design and incorporate Kia’s Trinity Panoramic Display. The engines and transmissions are likely to be carried over from the current model.

On 26 January, Renault will introduce the next-gen Duster in India, a model it has already launched in other markets. The third-generation Duster features a brawny exterior that will outclass the all-new Tata Sierra and every other SUV in its segment in ruggedness. It will have a simplistic and practical interior that won’t be as sophisticated but still appeal to outdoorsy and old-school drivers.

Renault will likely launch the all-new Duster in India with a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine and a 1.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine in February. Within a year of launch, it will likely start giving a 1.8-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine-based hybrid powertrain option as well.

Nissan Tekton (2)
Nissan Tekton

Around June, Nissan will launch the Tekton, the successor to the Terrano. The Nissan Tekton will be a corporate cousin of the all-new Renault Duster, but will have a distinctive exterior. Save for a shared body shell, everything else will be unique to the Nissan model, including the headlamps, upper and lower grilles, bumpers, wheels, and tail lamps.

In fact, it will look a little flashier, with block-lettered “TEKTON” inscription on the bonnet and connected LED DRLs and taillights. We’re yet to see the interior, but it’s safe to assume the engines and transmissions will be the same.

3 New Sedans To Launch Likely Next Year

GaadiWaadi -

2023 hyundai verna-3

This article lists the 3 upcoming sedans from leading brands such as Hyundai, Skoda and Volkswagen likely to launch next year in the Indian market

We are just a few days away from the new year and several leading auto brands have started readying their upcoming models for a launch in 2026. While the Indian auto industry is majorly ruled by SUVs, there are a few prominent sedans on sale which are equally popular. We are not talking about compact sedan models, but mid-sized sedans from key brands such as Hyundai, Skoda and Volkswagen. Hence, in this piece, we will talk in detail about the 3 new sedans launching next year in the Indian market.

1. 2026 Hyundai Verna facelift

Last month, the 2026 Verna facelift was spied testing as pics of the exterior as well as interior cabin emerged on the web. The facelifted model will come with subtle cosmetic updates, predominantly at the front fascia. The hexagonal grille, fog lamp housing and front bumper are likely to go under the hammer. Inside the cabin, it is expected to get twin 12.3-inch screens for the driver’s digital display and central touchscreen system.

The spy shots further reveal that the 2026 Hyundai Verna facelift will boast of a new steering wheel. The dashboard and upholstery could also be updated with the latest colour schemes. Under the bonnet, the new version of the sedan will carry the same pair of 1.5L petrol engines (naturally-aspirated and turbocharged) with manual and automatic gearbox choices.

2. 2026 Skoda Slavia facelift

Skoda has been testing the Slavia facelift for the last few months and it could finally debut in Jan 2026 in the Indian market. It is likely to launch alongside the Kushaq facelift. The updates are going to be strictly cosmetic at the front fascia. The company could also offer newly-designed alloy wheels and a refreshed connected LED tail-lamp cluster.

skoda-Slavia-facelift-2.jpg

As for features, it could be presented with ADAS tech, 360-degree camera, and a bigger touchscreen infotainment system among others. However, it might miss out on the panoramic sunroof. Mechanically, the existing 1.0L turbo and 1.5L turbo petrol engines will be retained with identical power output and torque delivery. Needless to state, the 2026 Skoda Slavia facelift will be more expensive than the ongoing version.

3. 2026 Volkswagen Virtus facelift

Volkswagen India will launch the 2026 Virtus facelift in Q1 2026 in the domestic market. It will come with subtle visual updates aligning with VW’s global design language. The sedan will get Level 2 ADAS tech with advanced safety features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, and Lane Departure Warning among others.

Volkswagen-Virtus-GT-Plus-Sport.jpg

Under the hood, it will continue with the current 1.0L and 1.5L turbo-petrol engines which are available with manual and automatic transmission options. The 2026 Volkswagen Virtus facelift price will be higher than the present model due to the inclusion of new features. It will directly rival Honda City, Hyundai Verna, and Skoda Slavia in our country.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara To Arrive With A Comprehensive EV Ecosystem – Here’s Why

GaadiWaadi -

Maruti-Suzuki-e-Vitara-1.jpg

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will be sold through the Nexa chain of premium dealerships and it will compete in the midsize e-SUV segment

Maruti Suzuki is looking to make its official entry into India’s midsize electric SUV category with the upcoming e Vitara, which is scheduled to arrive at Nexa showrooms next month. The brand’s first all-electric SUV for the Indian market has already made a huge impact by earning a full 5-star rating in the Bharat NCAP crash tests – recording 31.49 points for adult occupant protection and 43 points for child safety.

To step into the new realm, the automaker has been busy strengthening its EV infrastructure across the country. More than 1,500 Maruti Suzuki workshops in over 1,100 cities have now been upgraded to support electric vehicles. Alongside this, a massive workforce of over 1.5 lakh specially trained technicians and support staff has been deployed to assist customers with EV-related sales, service and maintenance needs.

The largest car producer in the country is also working towards helping establish a nationwide network of over one lakh public charging points by 2030. To further reduce concerns around charging availability, Maruti Suzuki has partnered with 13 major charging point operators and aggregators – allowing users to access multiple charging networks through a single platform.

Additionally, the brand has already installed more than 2,000 chargers at its dealerships and service facilities across India. Demonstrating the real-world capability of both the vehicle and the expanding ecosystem, Maruti recently flagged off four e Vitara SUVs from Gurugram on a cross country journey. Each car was sent to a different geographic extreme and it showcased a driving range of up to 543 km on a single full charge.

While the Indian launch is just around the corner, export-oriented production has already begun at the company’s Gujarat manufacturing facility. Large batches of the electric SUV have been shipped out through to various global markets over the last three months. Upon launch next month, buyers will get a choice between two LFP battery packs sourced from BYD – a 48.8 kWh unit and a larger 61.1 kWh option.

Supporting DC fast charging, the battery can be replenished from 0 to 80 percent in around 50 minutes. Built on Maruti Suzuki’s Heartect-e platform, the SUV comes loaded with features such as a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless smartphone connectivity, a 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster, powered front seats, automatic climate control, a 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS and seven airbags.
