Volkswagen Tayron is equipped with a 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine kicking out 201 bhp and 320 Nm

Volkswagen is preparing to raise the stakes in India’s premium SUV space with the introduction of the Tayron R-Line – a global seven-seater positioned as the brand’s most upmarket offering yet. Slotted above Volkswagen’s current SUV portfolio, the Tayron uses a 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine which is tuned to deliver around 201 bhp and 320 Nm of torque.

The powertrain is hooked with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Crucially, Volkswagen equips the Tayron with its all-wheel-drive system as standard. In addition to performance, size and practicality play a major role in the Tayron’s positioning. Its local assembly has commenced at VW’s local plant ahead of launch.

With an overall length of 4,770 mm and a 2,789 mm wheelbase, the SUV offers a long and spacious footprint that accommodates three rows of seating. Luggage capacity is equally top notch with 345 litres available with all seats up and a massive 850 litres when the third row is folded which could make it suitable for both family duties and long road trips.

The Tayron R-Line is an amalgamation of Volkswagen’s modern SUV styling with sportier accents unique to the R-Line badge. The SUV features sculpted bodywork, a wide stance and clean panels accentuated by R-Line-specific bumpers, badging and 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. Lighting is also a key highlight with HD Matrix LED headlamps, animated cornering functions and illuminated Volkswagen logos at the front and rear.

Variable LED tail lamp signatures further up its premium presence while a five-star Euro NCAP rating confirms its global safety credentials. Step inside, and the Tayron makes its flagship intent apparent. The cabin centres around a large 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system working in tandem with a fully digital driver’s display.

Other key bits are a three-zone climate control system, a panoramic sunroof and customisable 30-colour ambient lighting. The front seats are equipped with ergoActive Plus technology, offering ventilation, memory functions and a multi-point massage system while a Harman Kardon audio setup with 11 speakers handles in-cabin entertainment.

Safety and driver assistance are equally comprehensive. The Tayron R-Line comes equipped with Level 2 ADAS, nine airbags including a central airbag, a 360-degree camera and Park Assist Plus. Adding to its credentials, the Tayron has also been awarded the Golden Steering Wheel 2025 for Best Family Car in Europe. Once launched, it will square off against established names such as the Skoda Kodiaq, Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster and Jeep Meridian.

MG Majestor Teased Ahead Of 12 February Debut [Video]

MG teases Majestor SUV with diesel power and Fortuner-rival positioning

JSW MG Motor India has released the first teaser for its upcoming Majestor SUV, confirming its unveiling on 12 February. The model is expected to compete in the full-size body-on-frame SUV segment, where the Toyota Fortuner currently dominates.

Exterior Design Details

The teaser reveals the SUV’s face, featuring a multi-element LED lighting arrangement, angular daytime running lamps and a wide, dark-finished grille with horizontal slats. A silver-finished lower skid plate can also be seen, suggesting a rugged design direction. More styling and dimensional details are likely to emerge closer to its showcase.

Interior and Features (Expected)

While the cabin has not yet been shown, the Majestor is expected to offer a competitive equipment list for the segment. Likely features include a panoramic sunroof, a 12.3-inch infotainment system and a Level 2 ADAS suite – in line with recent MG offerings. Seating configurations, materials and comfort features are still under wraps.

Powertrain and Capability

The Majestor is expected to feature a four-wheel-drive setup and could share its powertrain with the MG Gloster. If so, it would use a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. In the Gloster, this engine produces 213 HP and 478 Nm, giving it stronger power output than the Fortuner’s 2.8-litre diesel unit, although the Toyota offers slightly higher peak torque.

Market Position and Outlook

MG models are often characterised by spacious interiors and long feature lists, so it will be interesting to see how the Majestor positions itself in terms of comfort, performance and pricing. The full-size SUV space remains small but profitable in India and the Majestor’s arrival could bring much-needed competition to the segment.

Skoda India has brought in a new set of consumer offers covering its SUV and sedan portfolios. The Skoda Kushaq continues to attract the strongest benefits within the domestic range. Buyers can avail exchange bonuses of up to Rs. 50,000 along with corporate or loyalty benefits of up to Rs. 50,000 – taking the total potential savings to Rs. 1 lakh. These offers make the Kushaq particularly attractive for customers upgrading from older hatchbacks or compact sedans.

Similar benefits extend to the Skoda Slavia which remains one of the few midsize sedans offering European driving dynamics in its segment. January 2026 offers include exchange benefits of up to Rs. 50,000 and additional corporate or loyalty schemes worth up to Rs. 50,000. Maruti Suzuki Sells 17.46 Lakh Cars In First Nine Months Of FY26, Highest Ever

GaadiWaadi -

New-2025-Maruti-Suzuki-Dzire-4.jpg

The domestic volumes of Maruti Suzuki stood at 14,35,945 units while exports rose to 3,10,559 units in the first nine months of this FY

Maruti Suzuki India Limited completed the third quarter of FY2025-26 on a historic note by reporting its strongest ever quarterly and nine-month performance across volumes, revenue and profitability. The period ended December 2025 saw Maruti Suzuki achieving a record cumulative sales of 17,46,504 units – improving from 16,29,631 units in the same period last year.

The largest car producer in the country’s domestic volumes stood at 14,35,945 units while exports rose to 3,10,559 units courtesy of good reception for the Baleno and Jimny. The numbers translated into net sales of Rs. 1,24,290 crore for the nine-month period as against Rs. 1,06,258 crore in 9M FY2024-25. Net profit for the period increased to Rs. 1,08,549 crore – up from Rs. 1,04,403 crore a year earlier.

Zooming into the October–December quarter, Maruti Suzuki delivered its highest-ever quarterly domestic sales at 5,64,669 units with a steep year-on-year increase of 97,676 units over Q3 FY2024-25. A significant portion of this growth came from the entry-level segment with cars falling under the 18 per cent GST bracket accounting for 68,328 additional units as the price drop endured due to lowered taxes has helped the brand big time during the festive season.

Including exports, total vehicle dispatches during Q3 FY2025-26 touched an all-time high of 6,67,769 units, compared to 5,66,213 units in the same quarter last year. Export volumes improved to 1,03,100 units – up from 99,220 units. The surge in volumes drove a substantial jump in revenue with quarterly net sales climbing to Rs. 47,534 crore.

The total volumes indicated a significant increase from Rs. 36,802 crore recorded during the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year – making it Maruti Suzuki’s highest-ever quarterly revenue performance. Quarterly net profit stood at Rs. 3794 crore – marginally higher than Rs. 3,659 crore reported in Q3 FY2024-25.

However, profitability during the quarter was impacted by a one-time provision of Rs. 593 crore related to the implementation of new labour codes which partially offset the benefits of higher volumes. The company also confirmed that Suzuki Motor Gujarat Private Limited – a wholly owned subsidiary was amalgamated with Maruti Suzuki India Limited with effect from December 1, 2025. Since the appointed date under the scheme is April 1, 2025, the financial statements have been restated accordingly for accurate comparison.
