Next-Gen-Toyota-Fortuner-Rendered.jpg

Next-Gen Toyota Fortuner is expected to debut later this year with a thoroughly redesigned exterior and interior

The Toyota Fortuner has been a dominant force in the full-size SUV space for nearly two decades. First introduced globally in 2004 under Toyota’s IMV project and launched in India in 2009, the Fortuner quickly built a reputation for its toughness, reliability and commanding road presence. Over the years, it has evolved from a rugged utility vehicle into a feature-rich and premium 7-seater SUV that continues to lead its segment.

The first generation laid the foundation for its success – becoming synonymous with durability and exceptional resale value. When the second iteration arrived in 2016, it brought sharper styling, a more upmarket cabin and more powerful engine options. Amidst anticipation for a brand new model, the first-ever spy images were caught on camera recently abroad.

Based on them, here we have shown you renders of the next-gen Fortuner which hint at a dramatic design overhaul taking inspiration from the latest Hilux. The SUV appears more aggressive while the overall silhouette remains muscular. At the front, the upcoming Fortuner looks to have gained a new grille section with redesigned chrome slats.

Prominent “TOYOTA” lettering above the grille can be seen while a sleek pair of LED headlamps and intricate DRL signatures flank the grille. The bumper features larger air dams and a more pronounced skid plate with triangular housings for the circular LED fog lamps. Moving to the rear, a full-width LED light bar is accompanied by “FORTUNER” badging placed across the tailgate.

Other highlights are a sculpted bumper with dual exhaust tips, thick body cladding, a roof-mounted spoiler and larger alloy wheels. Underpinning the new model is expected to be Toyota’s TNGA-F platform, shared with the latest Hilux. The ladder frame architecture should promise improved rideability, better handling and off-road performance.

The interior will likely witness a major upgrade as well featuring dual 12.3-inch screens (one for infotainment and one for instrumentation), Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, connected features, OTA updates, automatic climate control, panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated seats, etc. The next-gen Fortuner is expected to launch in the international markets by late 2026 or early 2027 before reaching India.

New Skoda Kushaq Production Begins, Deliveries Scheduled For March

GaadiWaadi -

new-2026-skoda-kushaq-facelift-production-commences-India-2.jpg

Customer deliveries of the new Skoda Kushaq will begin next month and it gets a host of revisions inside and out along with new features and tech

Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited has officially initiated manufacturing of the updated Kushaq at its Chakan facility near Pune. The SUV continues to be a cornerstone of the group’s localisation strategy which looks to keep costs competitive while maintaining global engineering standards. First customer handovers are slated to commence in March 2026 following its global debut earlier this year.

The SUV has historically served as a major contributor to the company’s domestic momentum and export ambitions. It was also the inaugural product under the firm’s India-focused development program, engineered specifically for regional driving conditions. The brand says the refreshed version has garnered good reception.

It is worth noting that the manufacturer has recorded over 1,17,000 units in total annual sales during 2025. On the outside, the Kushaq facelift introduces noticeable styling revisions. Up front, redesigned headlamps integrate new LED daytime running light elements linked by segmented illumination strips. A reshaped grille and restyled bumper with angular metallic accents are also available.

Elsewhere you could find bonnet-mounted badge, illuminated brand lettering across the tailgate which is accompanied by split LED tail lamps. Equipment upgrades are extensive particularly in higher trims such as Prestige and Monte Carlo. Buyers get features like a panoramic sunroof, a digital instrument display measuring 26.03 cm, ventilated power-adjustable front seats and a touchscreen infotainment unit with the size of 25.6 cm comprising Google-based AI assistant.

These variants also gain a segment-first rear seat massage function along with front parking sensors and an enhanced audio system with amplifier and subwoofer. The Monte Carlo edition boasts a sportier character with darkened exterior elements, red grille highlights, exclusive badges, a dual-tone roof and sequential indicators. The Prestige grade, on the other hand, emphasises premium look through chrome detailing, lighter interior shades and a more classic design theme.

Under the bonnet, familiar turbo petrol engines continue. The 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre TSI units remain unchanged mechanically but the larger motor now gains rear disc brakes. Transmission options include a six-speed MT, a newly introduced eight-speed torque converter automatic paired with the smaller engine and a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

Kia Carnival Petrol Hybrid Variant Expected For India This Year

2024 Kia Carnival

Kia Carnival hybrid variant likely to expand India lineup this year

Kia is preparing to broaden the powertrain lineup of the latest-generation Carnival in India with the addition of a petrol-hybrid version. The hybrid model is expected to join the current diesel-only offering sometime this year and could be positioned at a relatively more accessible price point than the existing variant.

The fourth-generation Carnival, introduced in India in late 2024, marked a substantial shift in positioning for the MPV. Sold as a CKD import in a single fully loaded Limousine specification, the model currently retails at around Rs. 59.50 lakhs (ex-showroom). It is powered by a 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine producing 193 PS and 441 Nm.

Hybrid powertrain details

For the upcoming version, Kia is expected to introduce a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with an electric motor in a full parallel hybrid configuration. The system combines for an output of about 242 HP and 367 Nm of torque, with a 54 kW motor assisting the petrol engine. Transmission duties are likely to be handled by a six-speed automatic gearbox, and the setup is expected to include multi-level regenerative braking.

In international markets, the Carnival is offered with multiple petrol, diesel and hybrid options and the hybrid version is available in several trims. For India, however, Kia may continue with its strategy of offering a single high-spec configuration.

Efficiency and equipment expectations

Global specifications suggest fuel economy figures of up to around 14.5 km/l for the hybrid variant, though official India-certified numbers will be announced closer to launch.

Design and equipment levels are expected to remain broadly aligned with the current model’s premium positioning. Possible exterior elements include large alloy wheels, dark-themed styling accents, LED lighting and dual sunroofs.

Inside, the MPV is expected to retain features such as powered sliding rear doors, a powered tailgate, integrated window shades and multiple cabin power outlets. The dashboard layout is likely to include dual 12.3-inch screens, a head-up display, a premium Bose audio system and an in-cabin camera with passenger intercom functionality.

Advanced driver-assistance systems available globally include autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, lane-keeping assist, highway driving assist, parking collision prevention and a surround-view camera system. Availability of the full suite in the India-spec model will be confirmed at launch.

The addition of a petrol-hybrid option would expand the Carnival’s appeal by offering an alternative to the diesel engine while aligning the model with the broader industry move toward electrified powertrains.

3 New Hyundai Cars Waiting To Launch This Year – 2 SUVs & 1 Sedan

GaadiWaadi -

2024 Hyundai Bayon Facelift_

2 new mass-produced cars likely coming to Hyundai showrooms in India this year with the first launch expected in the middle of the year

2026 is the year of new mid-size SUVs, but Hyundai doesn’t have any plans in this segment, in which its second-gen Creta remains an undisputed leader. Hyundai plans to launch three new mass-market cars in multiple other segments this year, all priced well below 15 lakh rupees (ex-showroom).

1. New Hyundai Exter

Launched in July 2023, the Hyundai Exter directly competes with the Tata Punch, which recently got a facelift. Around the time it completes three years on the market, it will also receive a cosmetic refresh. The new Hyundai Exter may feature redesigned bumpers, tweaked headlamp and tail lamp graphics, and new 15-inch alloy wheels. Inside, there are rumours of a 9.9-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, both based on the Android Automotive OS.

Hyundai-Exter-Pro-Pack.jpg

However, these new features are likely to debut in the new Exter’s electric equivalent, which is confirmed to debut in Q1 2027. The engines and transmission options are likely to be the same as those of the current model. However, unlike in the current model, Hyundai may offer the 5-speed automated manual transmission option in not only the petrol variant but also in the petrol-CNG variant.

2. New Hyundai Verna

The sixth-generation Hyundai Verna, launched in March 2023, could get its mid-cycle refresh sometime in April this year. Spy images have revealed that the new Verna will feature a more dynamic front-end inspired by the latest Sonata. Expect redesigned split headlamps, a sportier bumper, and a new look for the grille to be among the key changes here.

The facelifted Verna should feature new 16-inch alloy wheels, tweaked tail lamps, and a redesigned rear bumper as well. Inside, expect the dashboard to have a new look and flaunt two 12.3-inch displays integrated into a single panel, both running the ccNC software. No mechanical changes are likely to be introduced in the new Verna.

3. Hyundai Bayon

2024 Hyundai Bayon Facelift_-3

Sometime in September, Hyundai will likely launch the next-gen Bayon, a new SUV positioned above the squarish Venue. The company will differentiate it with a sportier and rather crossover-ish design, a new platform shared with the next-gen i20, an all-new, 1.2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, and various catchy features.

New Tata Punch EV BaaS, Lifetime Warranty & Dual Loan Scheme Explained

GaadiWaadi -

New tata Punch EV (8)

New Tata Punch EV is available with two battery choices enabling a range of up to 468 km on a single charge

Tata Motors has introduced an updated version of the Punch EV with affordability, long term assurance and added technology in mind. A major highlight is the new Battery-as-a-Service plan that separates the cost of the battery from the vehicle purchase price. Its lowers the entry tag to Rs. 6.49 lakh – after which users pay a distance-based battery usage charge of Rs. 2.6 per kilometre instead of buying the pack outright.

To further reduce financial burden, the brand is offering a two-part loan structure that splits payments between the vehicle and energy unit. It looks to match monthly outgoings with those of conventional fuel cars. Buyers opting for the bigger battery also receive extensive protection: the first registered owner gets a high-voltage battery guarantee valid up to 15 years with unlimited driving distance including replacement if capacity falls below 70 per cent.

Two battery configurations are available. The smaller 30 kWh unit is rated for 265 km on a full charge while the larger 40 kWh pack claims up to 468 km under ARAI testing and around 355 km in real-world driving. Rapid charging support enables a 20–80 per cent top-up in about 26 minutes using a 65 kW DC charger and a quick 15-minute session can restore close to 135 km of usable range.

New tata Punch EV (2)

Output stands at 130 PS and the sprint from rest to 100 kmph takes less than nine seconds. Wheel torque exceeds 2000 Nm, climbing ability is rated at 32 per cent and the vehicle offers 195 mm of ground clearance plus 450 mm water crossing capability. The 2026 Tata Punch EV has its kerb weight specified at 1360 kilograms.

The price ladder comprises several trims across both battery choices. Variants equipped with the 30 kWh pack start at Rs. 9.69 lakh and extend to Rs. 10.29 lakh. Models fitted with the 40 kWh battery begin at Rs. 10.89 lakh and reach Rs. 12.59 lakh for the fully equipped top specification. A newly engineered X-in-1 electric drive assembly debuts in it.

New Tata Punch EV (1)

It integrates six separate systems into a single module and shrinks packaging volume by about half, cuts mass by 28 per cent and boosts efficiency by nearly six per cent. Wiring requirements drop roughly 30 per cent and semiconductor usage falls close to 40 per cent while an advanced thermal management setup optimises battery and cabin temperature control.

Cabin equipment has been significantly upgraded as well. A 26.03 cm touchscreen built with Harman pairs with a fully digital instrument display and features such as ventilated seats, surround-view camera, wireless smartphone connectivity and voice-enabled sunroof are included. Integration with Amazon Alexa, six airbags, stability control, tyre-pressure monitoring and connected-car remote functions are other inclusions.

Hyundai And Kia To Launch Multiple Hybrid Cars In India By Next Year

GaadiWaadi -

Kia Sorento (6)

Kia to dominate the hybrid space initially as it is expected to launch three models as early as next year in India

Hyundai and Kia have launched several imported EVs and two locally manufactured EVs over the last few years. Next, the sister brands plan to expand their electrified vehicle portfolio to hybrid models.

1. Kia Carnival Petrol Hybrid

Kia will be the Hyundai Motor Group’s first brand in India to step into hybrids, beginning with a derivative of the Carnival. Earlier this month, GaadiWaadi.com exclusively revealed Kia’s plans to launch the Carnival Hybrid in India this year. We understand the Kia Carnival Hybrid will be the brand’s first partially electrified model in our market.

2024-Kia-Carnival-1.jpg

Like the diesel-powered Carnival, the Carnival Hybrid should be imported as a CBU from South Korea. A 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine comes paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission in the hybrid variant. The petrol engine produces 180 PS (178 hp) and 27 kgf.m (265 Nm) of torque. It is assisted by an electric motor that develops 54 kW (74 hp) and 304 Nm of torque. In South Korea, this setup delivers a fuel economy of up to 14 km/l. Kia will likely launch the Carnival Hybrid in India around October.

2. Kia MQ4i

MQ4i is the internal name of a new three-row SUV specially adapted for India from Kia’s fourth-generation Sorento (codename: MQ4). The company plans to manufacture this model locally to price it competitively and will offer it with a hybrid powertrain.

Kia Sorento (2)

While Kia uses the same 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine as the Carnival Hybrid in the Sorento Hybrid, it is said to employ a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine in the Indian model. There’s no word on the output of this engine or the electric motor that will be assisting it. The Kia MQ4i could be launched in Q1 2027.

3. Kia Seltos Hybrid

The Kia Seltos Hybrid is likely to be launched in India after the aforementioned three-row model, and Q2 2027 could be as early as we may see it in showrooms. In South Korea, Kia uses a combination of a 1.6-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and an electric motor. The petrol engine produces 105 PS (104 hp) and 14.7 kgf.m (144 Nm) of torque, while the electric motor develops 32 kW (43 hp) and 170 Nm of torque.

New Kia Seltos (7)

In India, Kia is likely to use the same 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine-based hybrid system as the MQ4i. This powertrain may deliver a fuel economy of around 25 km/l. The company may launch the Seltos Hybrid in Q2 2027, at a starting price of around INR 17.50 lakh rupees (ex-showroom).

4. Hyundai Creta Hybrid

Hyundai Creta (3)
Hyundai Creta

The Hyundai Creta is likely transition into its third generation in mid-2027, and with that major update, it will see the addition of a hybrid variant. The first-ever Hyundai Creta Hybrid should come with the same powertrain as the aforementioned India-made Kias. Inspired by the Hyundai Crater Concept, the Hyundai Creta Hybrid could be slightly more affordable than the Kia Seltos Hybrid, costing around 17.20 lakh rupees (ex-showroom) in the base trim.
