Suzuki To Launch Next-Gen Swift Sport This Year

GaadiWaadi -

2024 Suzuki Swift Sport Rendering

Suzuki’s much-loved hot hatch, the Swift Sport, will be returning to global showrooms after a hiatus of nearly two years

An all-new Swift Sport is in the making, based on the fourth-generation Swift, which is sold in India. According to a new report from Japanese publication Best Car Web, Suzuki plans to unveil the next-gen Swift Sport at the end of this year. The all-new hot hatch was scheduled to arrive earlier, but the project is running behind schedule.

A wider track and increased body width would give the next-gen Swift Sport a more appealing stance compared to the regular Swift. A more rigid body structure and firmer suspension are also expected among the mechanical changes, aimed at delivering better driving dynamics.

Powering the all-new Swift Sport will be a 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that features 48-volt mild-hybrid technology and puts out 148 hp and 240 Nm of torque. For reference, the old model had a 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that developed 138 hp and 230 Nm of torque, also with 48-volt mild-hybrid technology.

As before, customers will get a choice of a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed automatic transmission in the Swift Sport. While the car has traditionally been a FWD-only offering to keep the weight in check, in the next generation, an AWD system will be available as an option, suggests the Japanese report.

The all-new Swift Sport could accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h as quickly as under eight seconds and have a top speed of at least 210 km/h. Besides a more engaging driving experience, it could stand out further with special styling bits such as a more aggressive front grille, a front-lip spoiler, side skirts, 17-inch alloy wheels, exposed dual exhaust tailpipes, and a rear diffuser. Inside, the sporty upgrades may include semi-bucket seats, metallic-finish pedals, and exclusive trim and upholstery.

Maruti Suzuki has never offered the Swift Sport in India, and the company is unlikely to bring it in the next generation either. Limited volume potential, along with the fact that the company doesn’t locally produce the 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, could make the business case tough for our market. In Japan, Best Car Web expects Suzuki to launch the next-gen Swift Sport in the price range of 2.3-2.5 million yen (approximately 13.33-14.49 lakh rupees).

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ To Get A Diesel Engine Eventually

GaadiWaadi -

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ (3)

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ to be positioned below the hot-selling Fortuner as the company’s smallest and lowest-priced off-road-oriented SUV

The Toyota Land Cruiser FJ is said to be launched in petrol, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid variants in India. Internationally, though, just ahead of its launch in Thailand and Japan, there’s talk of a diesel variant as well.

Multiple reports citing Japan’s Best Car magazine claim that Toyota will offer the Land Cruiser FJ with the 1GD-FTV 2.8-litre diesel engine, currently available in models such as the Fortuner, Hilux, and Land Cruiser Prado. However, the company plans to introduce this option in 2029, about three years after the model’s global launch.

Just like the availability of the 1GD-FTV 2.8-litre diesel engine, its timeline remains a rumour, with no official explanation available behind the deferred introduction. However, a working theory is that Toyota needs time to update this engine to meet stricter emission norms and ensure it remains compliant well into the next decade.

Toyota Land cruiser FJ (6)

Depending on the model, the 1GD-FTV engine produces up to 150 kW (201 hp) and up to 500 Nm of torque and comes linked to a 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, or 8-speed automatic transmission. In select markets, a 48-volt mild-hybrid technology is offered as an option.

The Toyota Land Cruiser FJ is a C-segment SUV measuring 4,575 mm in length, 1,855 mm in width, and 1,960 mm in height, with a 2,580 mm wheelbase. It is a body-on-frame model based on the IMV 0 platform that first spawned the Toyota Hilux Champ compact pickup truck.

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ

So far, Toyota has confirmed plans to launch the Land Cruiser FJ internationally with the 2TR-FE 2.7-litre petrol engine tuned to produce 120 kW (161 hp) and 246 Nm of torque. A 6-speed automatic transmission and a part-time 4WD system will work together to channel power to the wheels.

In India, reports say Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) will manufacture the Land Cruiser FJ at its upcoming factory in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, and launch it at the end of 2028. Despite local production, the Mahindra Scorpio-N rival will be costly in India, with the base price expected to be around 30 lakh rupees (ex-showroom). The plug-in hybrid variant will likely be much costlier.

Top 10 Midsize SUVs Feb 2026 – Creta, Scorpio, Victoris, Seltos, Hyryder

GaadiWaadi -

Maruti Victoris

In the chart of top 10 midsize SUVs in Feb 2026, Hyundai Creta finished ahead of Mahindra Scorpio, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Mahindra XUV 7XO and Kia Seltos

The midsize SUV category is undoubtedly one of the most competitive segments in the local market with several established nameplates and newer entrants battling for positions with the top 10. Last month’s sales figures showed how the space has evolved with multiple models posting healthy year-on-year growth while a few others witnessed noticeable declines compared to the same period last year.

Sitting at the top of the segment once again was the Hyundai Creta which registered 17,938 units in February 2026. The popular SUV from Hyundai Motor India continues to dominate the segment with consistent sales volumes. Compared to 16,317 units sold during February 2025, the Creta registered a 10 per cent year-on-year increase.

The second position went to the Mahindra Scorpio which posted sales of 14,665 units last month. The SUV, which includes both the Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic in the lineup, continues to attract buyers due to their capability and road presence. Compared to the 13,618 units sold in February last year, the Scorpio range grew by 8 per cent.

One of the highlighting entries on the list was the Maruti Suzuki Victoris which secured third place with 13,021 units in February 2026. Despite being a relatively new addition to the midsize SUV category, it has been performing well on a consistent basis courtesy of its availability through regular Arena outlets and can be had with both mild- and strong-hybrid petrol options.

The Kia Seltos takes fourth place with 10,308 units sold during the month – representing one of the strongest growth figures on the chart. Sales rose significantly from 6,446 units in February 2025 with a 60 per cent increase due to the arrival of the new generation recently. Another standout performer was the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder which recorded 9,359 units compared to 4,314 units in the same month last year.

Kia Sales Analysis Feb 2026 – Seltos, Sonet, Carens, Syros, Carnival

GaadiWaadi -

New Kia Seltos 3

Kia reported domestic sales of 27,610 units in February 2026 with a 10 per cent year-on-year increase over the 25,026 units sold in February last year

Last month turned out to be a reasonably positive one for Kia India but the numbers reveal a few interesting changes within the lineup. The brand reported domestic sales of 27,610 units in February 2026. That’s an improvement over the 25,026 units sold in February last year with a 10 per cent year-on-year increase. Compared to January 2026 though, the overall numbers remained almost unchanged.

Once again, the Kia Seltos continues to do most of the heavy lifting for the brand. The midsize SUV posted 10,308 units in February – a big jump from the 6,446 units it managed during the same period last year. A 60 per cent increase is significant and shows the model still has strong pull in the segment following the arrival of the new generation recently.

Month-to-month however, the numbers dipped slightly from January’s 10,639 units. Right behind it sits the Kia Sonet, another consistent seller for the company. February saw 9,750 units of the compact SUV dispatched – up from 7,598 units sold during the same period last year. That’s a healthy 28 per cent growth year-on-year.

Interestingly though, the Sonet recorded a noticeable drop compared to January 2026 when it sold nearly 11,000 units. The decline was around 11 per cent which could simply reflect normal month-to-month fluctuations in the segment. The Kia Carens continues to be a dependable contributor in Kia’s portfolio.

The MPV recorded 6,815 units in February – compared to 5,318 units during the corresponding month last year. That works out to a 28 per cent annual increase. Unlike the SUVs, Carens actually moved in the opposite direction month-to-month – climbing from 5,633 units in January. In contrary, the Kia Syros only recorded 662 units in February 2026 which is sharply down from the 5,425 units recorded a year ago.

The total led to an 88 per cent decline – easily the biggest drop in the lineup. On the slightly brighter side, the numbers did improve compared to January when just 275 units were sold. At the other end of the spectrum is the Kia Carnival which continues to operate as a niche premium product. Only 75 units were sold in February – down from 239 units a year earlier.

Compared to January’s 58 units, the Carnival did see a slight increase in fortunes. The Seltos and Sonet remain the key volume drivers with the Carens steadily supporting them. Models like the Syros and Carnival contribute far smaller numbers and tend to fluctuate.

Volkswagen Cars Get Discounts Of Up To Rs. 4.5 Lakh In March 2026

GaadiWaadi -

2025-Volkswagen-Tiguan-R-Line-1.jpg

Volkswagen Taigun, Virtus and Tiguan R-Line are offered in March 2026 with impressive discounts and benefits in India

Volkswagen has introduced a new round of customer benefits across its popular models in India. Consumers looking at the brand’s current lineup this month can take advantage of sizeable savings. The benefits mainly apply to existing inventory from the 2025 production batch but select 2026 units also receive smaller incentives.

The biggest focus of the programme is the Volkswagen Taigun which continues to be one of the company’s good performers in the midsize SUV space. Discounts vary depending on the variant and production year but the highlight is the Topline manual variant from the MY25 stock which receives a massive cash benefit of up to Rs. 2.5 lakh.

Even the automatic version gets sizeable benefits – bringing down the effective purchase price considerably for buyers willing to pick from available inventory. On the sedan side, the Volkswagen Virtus also gets moderate incentives this month. The offers are not as aggressive as those seen on the Taigun but certain trims still receive attractive savings.

Variants such as the GT Line and Topline from the earlier production batch can see benefits of up to Rs. 75,000 in cash discounts along with additional exchange and loyalty advantages. Moving to the top of the portfolio, the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line receives the largest single discount package in the brand’s domestic portfolio right now.

The premium SUV is available with a cash reduction of Rs. 3.5 lakh this month which significantly lowers the gap between it and similarly priced rivals in the segment. Additional incentives can further increase the overall value proposition. Exchange bonuses of up to Rs. 50,000 are available when customers trade in their existing vehicle through authorised dealership channels while loyalty bonuses reward existing owners of Volkswagen cars.

In practical terms, the Tiguan R-Line ends up offering the highest overall value this month with combined benefits reaching as much as Rs. 4.5 lakh depending on eligibility. Meanwhile, the Taigun remains the most aggressively discounted volume model – making it particularly attractive for those considering a midsize SUV.

These offers are available for a limited period and largely depend on dealership stock levels especially for the older production units. With the financial year closing soon, such aggressive pricing strategies are typically focussed at clearing inventory and boosting final quarter sales numbers. For customers planning to buy a Volkswagen, March could prove to be one of the better opportunities to negotiate a good deal.

3 Upcoming Skoda Cars To Be Launched In 2026 In India

GaadiWaadi -

Skoda Octavia RS (2)

Skoda to launch three new cars in India this year, besides releasing the second batch of the new Octavia RS

Following the launch of the Kylaq, all-new Kodiaq, and new Octavia RS last year, Skoda has planned another year of some major action on the product front in India. The company will be launching three more new cars this year, catering to customers in both high-volume and import segments.

Skoda’s first new model this year has been the facelifted Kushaq which it revealed in February and started producing last month. The mid-cycle refresh to the Kushaq brings minor design revisions, a host of new features, and a major technical upgrade. Skoda will launch the updated version later this month.

The new Kushaq has a bolder exterior with sharper and more technical-looking elements. A new radiator grille with chrome ribs and a light band behind those vertical slats virtually connects to the daytime running lights inside tweaked headlamps. The bumpers and faux skid plates also carry a new look. New 17-inch alloy wheels, connected tail lights with sequential turn indicators, and illuminated ‘Å koda’ lettering at the rear complete the refreshed exterior.

Inside, Skoda offers the new Kushaq with upgrades such as a panoramic sunroof, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a rear massage seat. On the safety front, Skoda has introduced LED fog lamps on the new Kushaq. Lastly, there’s an all-new, 8-speed automatic transmission option in place of the old model’s 6-speed automatic transmission, available with the 1.0-litre TSI engine.

In the second quarter of the year, Skoda will launch the second-generation Kodiaq RS in India. The company makes it in five- and seven-seat versions, but it is likely to offer only the latter in the our market. Unlike the regular Kodiaq, the Kodiaq RS would be a CBU import, meaning it could cost over 60 lakh rupees (ex-showroom).

Also Read: Skoda Offers Attractive Discounts In March 2026 – Up To Rs. 5 Lakh

Skoda Kodiaq RS

The all-new Kodiaq RS sports a 2.0-litre TSI engine that develops 261 hp and 400 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 250 km/h. A 7-speed DSG transmission and a permanent AWD system work together to send drive to the wheels. In the third quarter of the year, Skoda will likely launch the facelifted version of the Slavia.

The new Slavia will likely feature tweaked headlamps and rear combination lamps, new 16-inch alloy wheels, restyled bumpers, and new upper and lower grilles. Inside, the company will offer a new, fully digital instrument measuring 10.25 inches diagonally and a new rear seat with a massage function. The engine options should be the same, but instead of the 6-speed automatic transmission offered as an option with the 1.0-litre TSI unit, there should be an all-new, 8-speed automatic transmission. The second batch of Octavia RS is also in line for 2026.

The scooter is offered with two lithium-ion battery choices: a 2.9 kWh pack capable of delivering an IDC range of 123 km and a larger 3.7 kWh battery that extends the claimed range to around 160 km on a single charge.

Charging duration depends on the battery configuration with the smaller pack requiring about 8.3 hours for a full recharge while the larger unit can reach 80 per cent capacity in 4.5 hours when paired with a faster charger. It features a long 900 mm seat and a large boot. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks at the front and a rear monoshock setup. Braking hardware includes a 200 mm disc at the front and a 130 mm drum at the rear – supported by a Combined Braking System.
