Honda ZR-V Hybrid Arriving This Month In India – Key Details We Know So Far

Honda ZR-V 3

Honda ZR-V uses a 2.0-litre Atkinson cycle four-cylinder petrol engine working in tandem with two electric motors forming a hybrid system

Honda India is about to make its most significant product statement in years. The ZR-V, a nameplate that has quietly built a strong reputation across Japan, China and Europe since breaking cover in June 2022, is headed to Indian showrooms on May 22, 2026 sharing its launch spotlight with the City facelift on the very same date.

The company is bringing it in as a fully imported CBU unit positioning it deliberately at the upper end of the premium SUV ladder where the Volkswagen Tiguan, Skoda Kodiaq and Jeep Meridian call home. It slots neatly above the Elevate in Honda’s domestic hierarchy serving as the brand’s new flagship SUV in a market that is increasingly warming up to electrified powertrains.

The mechanical bits beneath the ZR-V is shared with the 11th generation Civic. Powering it is the e:HEV strong hybrid setup – a 2.0-litre Atkinson cycle four-cylinder petrol engine working in tandem with two electric motors through an e-CVT gearbox. Combined output stands at 181 hp and 315 Nm of torque with the drivetrain toggling between pure electric, hybrid and direct engine modes as conditions demand.

Internationally, a 1.5-litre turbocharged VTEC petrol option also exists in the lineup but India is expected to receive only the hybrid variant at launch and it could be in limited numbers. In terms of physical presence, the ZR-V measures 4,568 mm long, 1,840 mm wide and 1,620 mm tall – sitting on a 2,655 mm wheelbase.

The proportions lean more toward a rounded flowing crossover than the tall and upright stance of the Elevate. Up front, an octagonal grille flanked by slim LED headlamps and L-shaped daytime running lights sets a premium tone while the rear carries wraparound LED tail lamps and a clean and uncluttered bumper treatment with 19-inch alloy wheels fill the arches on international variants.

Step inside and the cabin greets occupants with a restrained and well-executed layout. A 9-inch freestanding touchscreen handles infotainment duties alongside a 10.2-inch fully digital instrument cluster. Dual-zone climate control, ventilated front seats, leatherette upholstery, a Bose premium audio system, wireless charging, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available globally.

Other key equipment are a powered tailgate and a button-style gear selector on the centre console round out the feature set; Honda Sensing, the brand’s comprehensive ADAS package covering adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist and traffic sign recognition, 6 airbags and a 360-degree surround camera.

Pricing is widely expected to land between Rs 40 lakh and Rs 50 lakh ex-showroom with final figures to be announced at the launch event. For a brand currently selling just three models in India, the ZR-V shows Honda’s intent to expand its lineup ahead of the arrival of a midsize electric SUV next year.

Maruti Eeco Star Edition Launched With Accessory Upgrades In India

GaadiWaadi -

Maruti Eeco Star Edition

Minor product intervention with low-cost cosmetic upgrades aimed at keeping the Maruti Eeco seem still fresh on the market

Launched in January 2010, the Maruti Eeco is the oldest car in the company’s line-up today and has clearly started to show its age. While it continues performing well in the market despite its average aesthetic appeal, being a utility vehicle, Maruti Suzuki has rolled out a small update to make it seem slightly more interesting.

A new Star Edition package allows customers to buy the Maruti Eeco with a more stylish exterior and interior. Maruti Suzuki offers 19 upgrades in this package for a price of Rs. 19,999, which represents a savings of Rs. 17,001. Without the package, these upgrades would set one back by Rs. 37,000.

The Maruti Eeco Star Edition is available only in Metallic Glistening Grey and Metallic Brisk Blue colours. Unlike the standard model, which is also available in Bluish Black, Solid White, and Metallic Silky Silver colours, it features body-coloured bumpers instead of the black bumpers. However, Maruti Suzuki says that the bumpers are painted in the body colour by the dealership.

The other 18 upgrades are all accessories, including but not limited to fog lamp garnish, a rear spoiler, door visors, wheel covers, mud flaps, chrome model emblem, wood trim on the dashboard, and steering wheel cover. Maruti Suzuki has restricted the availability of the Star Edition package to the 5-seat version and AC trim.

The Maruti Eeco Star Edition can be purchased in both petrol and CNG variants. Under the hood, there’s the K12N 1.2-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine that produces 60.5 kW (81 hp) and 105.5 Nm of torque running on petrol and 52.7 kW (71 hp) and 95 Nm of torque running on CNG. It comes paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The 5-seat passenger van delivers a fuel economy of 19.1 km/l (petrol variant)/26.78 km/kg (CNG variant).

The normal Maruti Eeco retails at Rs. 5,53,800 (ex-showroom) in the 5-seat AC petrol configuration and Rs. 6,35,800 (ex-showroom) in the 5-seat AC CNG configuration. This means that the Maruti Eeco Star Edition should cost Rs. 5,73,799 (ex-showroom) in the 5-seat AC petrol configuration and Rs. 6,55,799 (ex-showroom) in the 5-seat AC CNG configuration.

2026 Maruti Suzuki Brezza Facelift Spotted Again Revealing Underbody CNG Tank

GaadiWaadi -

2026 Maruti Suzuki Brezza Facelift Spied CNG.jpg

2026 Maruti Suzuki Brezza is expected to go on sale in the coming months featuring notable updates on the inside and addition of new equipment

Ten years since it first arrived and kickstarted the compact SUV revolution in India, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza is once again in the news – this time with new spy shots revealing one of its most practically significant updates yet. A test mule has been caught with what appears to be an underbody CNG tank, confirming what had been rumoured for a while.

The underbody CNG tank is perhaps the most significant change in the entire package. In the current model, the cylinder sits inside the boot, eating into luggage capacity and making the CNG variant a less practical choice for family use. Moving it beneath the floor would bring the Brezza CNG’s practicality in line with competition from the likes of Tata Nexon which boasts a dual-cylinder setup.

In addition to the CNG update, the five-speed manual gearbox is expected to give way to a new six-speed unit. The 1.5-litre K15C petrol engine is set to continue producing 102 bhp and 137 Nm while the CNG variant is expected to retain its 87 bhp and 121.5 Nm outputs. Earlier speculation around a 1.2-litre three-cylinder or a 1.0-litre turbo petrol could be wide of the mark.

Visually, the changes are expected to be modest as they could be restricted to revised alloy designs, tweaked body cladding and possible lighting updates. Dimensions remain identical at 3,995 mm in length, 1,790 mm wide, 1,685 mm tall on a 2,500 mm wheelbase with 198 mm of ground clearance.

Inside, a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen is expected to replace the current 9-inch unit building on an already capable package that includes a heads-up display, 360-degree camera and SmartPlay Pro Plus. Six airbags, ESP and Hill Hold Assist will continue to be standard.

EV Registrations In India Reach A Record 2.39 Lakh Units In April 2026

GaadiWaadi -

Tata-Curvv-EV-SeriesX-1.jpg

The electric two-wheelers led the volume charge as expected contributing 1,48,740 units and a 62.22 per cent share of total EV registrations in April 2026

The EV market recorded its highest ever April sales with 2,39,025 units registered last month enabling a 41 per cent jump over the 1,69,360 units registered in April 2025. The number also puts the massive growth of the EV section into perspective as it has gone from under 1,000 units six years ago to nearly 2.4 lakh units with contributions from multiple categories.

The electric two-wheelers led the volume charge as expected contributing 1,48,740 units and a 62.22 per cent share of total EV registrations – up from 54.63 per cent in April 2025. The 61 per cent year-on-year growth in the segment shows the continued expansion of the electric scooter market driven by TVS, Bajaj, Ather and Hero’s Vida scaling volumes aggressively while Ola Electric works through a period of recalibration.

The zero-emission three-wheelers remained the second largest segment with 64,549 units but their share of the overall EV pie contracted from 36.89 per cent during the same period last year to 27 per cent in April 2026 – a reflection of how rapidly the two-wheeler and passenger vehicle segments have grown rather than any decline in absolute three-wheeler volumes which were up 3 per cent year-on-year.

The battery-powered PVs posted the most impressive growth rate among the major segments – rising 73 per cent year-on-year to 23,265 units from 13,409 units in April 2025. The segment’s share of total EV registrations expanded from 7.91 per cent to 9.73 per cent due to a widening product range from Tata, MG, Mahindra and increasingly Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai.

The segment, especially in the compact and midsize classes, will see plenty of action over the next two to three years targetting high volume figures. The electric CVs, while still the smallest segment at 2,236 units, posted the highest year-on-year growth of all at 148 per cent from 903 units in April 2025 pointing towards accelerating fleet electrification in the goods transport space.

The seven-year April trajectory is perhaps the most striking data point of all. From under 1,000 units in April 2020 to 2,39,025 units in April 2026, the domestic EV market has compounded at a remarkable pace and with new models, expanding infrastructure and improving affordability all working in the same direction, the ceiling is still some way off.

Bajaj Auto Crosses 50 Lakh Units In FY26 For The First Time Since 2019

GaadiWaadi -

2026 bajaj pulsar 125

The FY26 results of Bajaj Auto saw record revenue of Rs 58,732 crore as profit jumps 21 per cent with total dispatches getting past 50 lakh units

Bajaj Auto crossed 50 lakh units in total dispatches for FY26 with a 10 per cent year-on-year growth and the company’s highest volume since FY2019. The commercial vehicle segment hit an unprecedented 5 lakh units during the year while exports crossed 20 lakh units for the first time since the record year of 2022.

The KTM-Triumph business registered its best-ever year globally with around 2.25 lakh riders added and global revenue of around Rs 5,000 crore – up 40 per cent on a year-on-year basis. In the local market, the motorcycle category recovered steadily through the year with the Pulsar range leading the sports segment rebound through multiple refreshes and targeted in-market activation.

The EV portfolio continued to scale with Bajaj retaining its position as India’s largest electric two-wheeler player by revenue. The segment crossed Rs 8,000 crore in domestic revenue and accounted for over 20 per cent of total domestic sales for the year. It must be noted that Latin America delivered its third consecutive record year.

Bajaj-Chetak-3001.jpg

In addition, Africa matched Asia’s double-digit growth trajectory and commercial vehicle exports surged around 50 per cent year-on-year. The rebound of KTM exports on the premium side added further weight to an already appreciable shipment level to international markets. The total export volumes crossing 20 lakh units is a significant milestone particularly given the currency tailwinds that amplified the revenue impact of those volumes.

Pulling back to the financials, revenue for the full year came in at Rs 58,732 crore with a 17 per cent year-on-year surge driven by record vehicle volumes, strong spares sales, a diverse product lineup and better USD-INR realisation. EBITDA reached Rs 12,019 crore, up 19 per cent, with margins expanding 30 basis points to 20.5 per cent. Meanwhile, profit after tax for the year stood at Rs 9,825 crore with a 21 per cent jump – the largest annual net profit print in the company’s history.

The continued scale-up of the EV business which operates at lower margins than the ICE portfolio at current volumes and focused competitive investments across segments would normally compress margins. The fact that EBITDA margins still improved shows premiumisation through Pulsar, KTM and Triumph combined with operating leverage on higher volumes and favourable currency realisation on the export side.

KTM was supported by an upgraded Duke lineup and a strong Adventure range while Triumph built on its modern classics portfolio spanning the Speed, Scrambler and Thruxton and both brand’s 350-400 cc portfolios saw big updates lately. Their combined retail network now covers 80 towns across India as well.

Nissan Terrano PHEV-Based SUV Under Evaluation For India Launch

Nissan Terrano PHEV Front

Nissan is preparing to expand its India portfolio with a fresh line-up of products, and a new SUV based on the Terrano PHEV concept could be among the key additions. The move comes as part of the brand’s broader plan to strengthen its presence in the Indian market following a relatively limited product range in recent years.

The upcoming model is expected to originate from Nissan’s joint venture with Dongfeng Motor Corporation. This collaboration has already produced multiple vehicles for global markets, and some of these products are now being evaluated for India.

Among them, an SUV derived from the Terrano PHEV concept—first showcased at the Beijing Auto Show 2026 – is being considered as a potential candidate. The production version is likely to share its underpinnings with pickup-based models such as the Frontier Pro and Dongfeng Z9.

The SUV is expected to use a ladder-frame chassis, a configuration typically associated with rugged, off-road-focused vehicles. This would place it in competition with established full-size SUVs in India.

A notable highlight is the possibility of a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain. If introduced, this would mark a significant step for Nissan in India, offering a blend of electric driving capability and conventional internal combustion performance.

The model is likely to be positioned in the premium SUV segment, potentially competing with vehicles such as the Toyota Fortuner and MG Gloster. Early indications suggest a target price in the region of Rs. 40 lakhs (ex-showroom), although final pricing and specifications remain unconfirmed.

From a strategic standpoint, sourcing products from China could help Nissan reduce development timelines and costs. Vehicles developed through the Dongfeng partnership are known for quicker turnaround times and feature-rich offerings—both important factors in the competitive Indian market.

For a successful launch, local manufacturing will be critical. Nissan retains production capacity at its Chennai facility, which it previously shared with Renault and this could be leveraged to assemble future models.

However, introducing a new SUV line-up would require additional investment. Company officials have indicated a renewed commitment to the Indian market, suggesting that such investments are being actively evaluated.

While no official launch timeline has been confirmed, industry expectations suggest that if plans progress smoothly, the SUV could arrive in India within the next couple of years. The model could also signal the beginning of a broader rollout of vehicles from Nissan’s Dongfeng partnership in the country.
