India’s EV Sales Could Hit 30.4 Million Units In The Near Future

A new report suggests India’s electric vehicle market could reach 30.4 million annual unit sales by 2032 if demand, charging infrastructure and policy support continue to improve

India’s electric vehicle journey has only just begun, but the next six years could completely transform the market. According to a new industry report, annual EV sales in the country could touch 30.4 million units by 2032 under a high-growth scenario. That would represent a twelve-fold jump from current levels and underline just how quickly the segment is expected to evolve.

The projection is based on multiple factors coming together rather than one single catalyst. Growing charging infrastructure, a wider choice of products and falling battery costs are expected to encourage more buyers to switch to electric vehicles. Government policies and localisation of key components are also likely to play a major role in keeping prices in check over the next few years.

The biggest contributor to this number are going to be two-wheelers. Electric scooters have already become a common sight in several Indian cities and there are new models coming almost every month. Last mile delivery vehicles, electric three-wheelers, buses and trucks are gradually showing acceptance. These have started to become a common sight.

That said, there are still a few hurdles to overcome. Public charging infrastructure remains inconsistent outside major cities and many buyers continue to have concerns around charging time, battery life and resale value. Not only do OEMs need to increase the charging network, they need to increase the number of chargers at each location as well. The growing number of EVs is going to increase wait times at public stations. The pace at which these issues are addressed will ultimately determine whether India can achieve the report’s most optimistic forecast.

The encouraging part is that the industry no longer revolves around a handful of manufacturers. Established carmakers are expanding their EV portfolios while newer brands continue to bring fresh products to the market. The segment is getting competitive. At the same time, battery manufacturing, charging networks and component localisation are attracting significant investments, creating an ecosystem that barely existed a few years ago.

Whether the 30.4 million-unit mark is eventually achieved remains to be seen, but the direction is quite clear. Electric vehicles are steadily moving from being a niche choice to a mainstream one. If infrastructure keeps pace with new product launches, the next decade could prove to be the biggest transformation the Indian automotive industry has witnessed in recent years.

More Powerful Hero Karizma XMR 250 Caught Undisguised, Launch Soon?

GaadiWaadi -

karizma XMR 250

Hero Karizma XMR 250 has surfaced online without camouflage hinting at an imminent market debut

The undisguised test motorcycle confirms that Hero has retained the aggressive silhouette of the Karizma XMR while introducing subtle changes to distinguish the quarter-litre version. The motorcycle seen in the images wears a gloss black paint scheme with contrasting red graphics across the fairing, fuel tank extensions and tail section.

The front end remains instantly recognisable with its aerodynamic full fairing, tall transparent windscreen and projector LED headlamp positioned beneath the signature boomerang-shaped LED daytime running lights. The indicators continue to be mounted on the fairing and are LED units. From the side, the motorcycle carries over the sculpted fairing panels and split seats.

The images also reveal golden upside-down front forks, a red rear monoshock, clip-on handlebars mounted above the top yoke and aluminium rider footpegs. The exposed steel trellis frame is visible beneath the fairing while the compact engine casing shows Hero’s newer liquid-cooled quarter-litre powertrain. The rear section gets sporty graphics carrying XMR 250 branding on the side panels.

The motorcycle also gets a split grab rail and a side-mounted saree guard as well. The spy images further show a wide rear tyre, rear disc brake and a box-section swingarm. The short side-slung exhaust has a brushed metallic finish.

The alloy wheel design also appears unchanged from the smaller Karizma XMR. The riding posture visible in the images indicates that Hero has retained the sport-touring ergonomics of the Karizma. The rider sits slightly leaned forward without adopting an extreme supersport stance. It will be part of the multiple new launches planned by the brand this FY which should include the flagship Xpulse 420 adv.

Renault India has introduced the Duster Adventure Edition in the domestic market with prices starting at Rs. 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Unveiled on Bastille Day, the special edition celebrates the legacy of the Duster nameplate which established itself as one of India’s pioneering SUVs in the midsize space more than a decade ago.

It has also earned recognition for its ride quality, handling characteristics and touring capability. The launch ceremony was attended by H.E. Thierry Mathou, Ambassador of France to India, and Stéphane Deblaise, CEO, Renault Group India as the event honoured the French roots of the brand and the significance of the Duster in Renault’s Indian journey.

The Adventure Edition is based on the latest generation Duster which was launched only a few months ago and will be available with Turbo TCe 100 MT, Turbo TCe 160 MT and Turbo TCe 160 DCT powertrain options. Renault says the Adventure Edition draws inspiration from one of the themes most closely associated with the Duster over the years.

Toyota Innova Hycross Facelift Spotted Testing For The First Time

GaadiWaadi -

Toyota-Innova-Hycross-Facelift-Spied.jpg

Updated Toyota Innova Hycross seen on Indian roads ahead of launch with refreshed styling, revised lighting and expected feature additions

Toyota has commenced road testing of the Innova Hycross facelift in India for the first time. The heavily camouflaged prototype reveals that Toyota is preparing a comprehensive mid-life update for the popular people mover. While the body is concealed beneath thick camouflage, several design details and proportions remain visible.

The prototype seen in these spy images carries extensive camouflage over the front, sides and rear confirming that multiple styling revisions are in store. The front fascia is expected to receive a redesigned grille, updated bumper, sleeker LED headlamps and a new daytime running light signature. The bonnet also appears to feature subtle revisions while the front overhang and overall dimensions remain unchanged.

From the side, the facelift continues with the familiar window line and body profile but a closer look shows what appears to be the same alloy wheel design. Flush-fitting body panels, conventional door handles and roof rails continue unchanged while the ORVMs remain the same as well. The rear section is also completely covered but the outline of the tailgate and spoiler can still be identified.

The test vehicle appears to feature revised LED tail lamps with a different internal lighting signature. Toyota is also expected to introduce a redesigned rear bumper and updated trim elements to distinguish the facelift from the outgoing model. The current Innova Hycross is already among the most feature-rich MPVs in India and the facelift is expected to build on that.

Top-end variants could receive an updated infotainment interface, refreshed instrument cluster, revised upholstery and additional soft-touch materials. The Japanese brand may also introduce new connected car functions while retaining features such as the panoramic sunroof, powered Ottoman captain seats, ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, powered tailgate, wireless charger and premium JBL audio system.

The facelift will continue with six airbags, ABS with EBD, Vehicle Stability Control, Hill Start Assist, TPMS, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera and the Toyota Safety Sense Level 2 ADAS package featuring adaptive cruise control, lane departure alert, lane trace assist, automatic high beam and a pre-collision system.

Mechanically, no major changes are likely. The updated model is expected to retain the existing 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 173 hp and 209 Nm coupled with a CVT automatic transmission. Toyota will also stay put with the 2.0-litre strong hybrid powertrain which develops a combined 184 hp through an e-CVT gearbox while delivering a claimed fuel efficiency of 23.24 kmpl.

Hyundai To Launch New MPV, 4×4 SUV & e-SUV In India

GaadiWaadi -

Hyundai Crater Concept 2

Hyundai is working on a diverse range of new products for India, including an MPV, a rugged off-road SUV and a new electric SUV

Hyundai Motor India has been silent for the past few months. This is likely to change as they seem to be going on a product offensive soon. In the next few years we expect to see a host of new models spanning multiple body styles and powertrains. The company continues to update its existing range. However, it is also working on all-new products aimed at tapping into high-growth segments such as MPVs, lifestyle SUVs and electric vehicles.

The Korean manufacturer is expected to get into the mass-market MPV segment with a new three-row model based on the Kia Carens Clavis platform. This MPV might replace the Alcazar that was recently discontinued. The new MPV is expected to borrow several design cues and features from Hyundai’s global portfolio while offering a premium cabin packed with connected tech and safety equipment. It is expected to be made in India and could make its debut in 2027.

Hyundai is also believed to be developing a compact off-road SUV. They even showcased a concept named ‘Boulder’ at the New York Auto show. The lifestyle-focused SUV is expected to rival the Mahindra Thar Roxx and Force Gurkha. The success of the Thar Roxx suggests that there is great demand in this segment. It only makes sense that Hyundai taps into it as well. The Boulder concept features a boxy design, high ground clearance and four-wheel-drive capability, although technical details remain under wraps.

Another product Hyundai needs is a more affordable mass-market EV. They seem to be paving the way for one. Expected to sit below the Creta Electric, this model is likely to be based on a heavily localised platform to keep costs in check. Using the Syros EV platform is highly probable. Hyundai is targeting a driving range of over 400 km and the SUV could play a crucial role in expanding the brand’s EV footprint in India.

Apart from these all-new products, Hyundai will keep refreshing its existing lineup with next-generation versions of popular models such as the Creta, Verna, Exter, etc. A hybrid is also on the cards. The next generation of the Creta will probably get a hybrid powertrain as well.

The last few years have made it clear, Indian customers are choosing SUVs, MPVs and electric vehicles. It is but natural that Hyundai’s upcoming product offensive reflects its intent to cater to this customer base. While launch timelines are expected to stretch over the next few years, the planned additions show a promising future for the brand. For us consumers, we like to be spoiled for choice don’t we?

Tata Punch & Nexon Garner Nearly 40,000 Unit Sales In June 2026

GaadiWaadi -

Tata Nexon

Tata garnered 62,076 units in June 2026 by registering a massive 67 per cent year-on-year growth with Punch and Nexon on top

Tata Motors recorded a notable performance in June 2026 as PV dispatches increased to 62,076 units by registering a massive 67 per cent year-on-year growth over 37,083 units sold during the corresponding month last year. Compared to 59,090 units dispatched in May 2026, volumes also improved by 5 per cent as the Punch and Nexon stood tall while the recently introduced Sierra continued to establish itself among the company’s highest volume earning models.

The Punch retained its position as Tata’s best-selling model after recording 21,006 units. The micro SUV more than doubled its June 2025 tally of 10,446 units – registering 101 per cent year-on-year growth. Dispatches also improved 4 per cent over May allowing the five-seater to stay ahead of every other model within the brand’s domestic fleet.

The Nexon followed in the second position with 18,335 units by improving 58 per cent over last year despite witnessing a marginal 4 per cent month-on-month decline. Both contributed significantly to the overall volumes as they helped garner nearly 40,000 units. The recently launched Sierra ICE continued to build numbers after dispatching 6,392 units during June. Amidst sequential volumes dipping 3 per cent from 6,606 units in May, the SUV will see increase in numbers soon courtesy of the arrival of the electric version.
