Mahindra’s upcoming sub-4 metre SUV seen equipped with a panoramic sunroof during its high-altitude testing in the Himalayas
Mahindra is extensively testing the production version of the Vision S concept across India ahead of its expected launch early next year. Recently, a prototype was spotted effortlessly traversing the challenging roads of Spiti Valley, as part of the model’s high-altitude testing.
The production version of the Mahindra Vision S appears to have a very brawny character. Its boxy body, tall height, and high ground clearance lend it a commanding presence and make it feel right at home on the hilly roads. The short overhangs should give it good approach and departure angles.
The upcoming Mahindra SUV features an upright front with a six-slot radiator grille flanked by LED headlamps, and a flattish bonnet. The headlamps look horizontal here, but they likely feature a vertical extension downward on the outer edges like on the concept version.

On the sides, the test mule reveals muscular wheel arches, squarish windows, flush-fitted door handles, chunky rocker panels, five-double-spoke alloy wheels, and broad shoulders. A side-hinged tailgate with a centrally mounted full-size spare wheel completes the rugged and purposeful exterior.
Inside, too, the production version of the Mahindra Vision S concept will have a proper SUV look with an upright dashboard and vertical AC vents. A panoramic sunroof will fill the cabin with ample natural light and provide expansive views of cityscapes and the sky.

Other features will likely include a digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, a touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a wireless smartphone charger. In terms of safety, Mahindra will likely offer six airbags, a 360º camera system, and a host of advanced driver assistance systems.
Mahindra is developing the production version of the Vision S concept on its new NU_IQ monocoque platform and will likely offer it with 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol and 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine options. While the platform is compatible, there’s no word on the availability of hybrid or pure electric powertrains at the moment. This model will compete with the Renault Bridger, expected to be launched in the second half of 2027, as well as the upcoming Tata SUV codenamed ‘Scarlet’, expected to follow in 2028.
