Jeep Wrangler Willys limited edition based on the Rubicon variant comes with a host of cosmetic and utility-based updates

The Wrangler Willys Limited Edition has now been fully booked in India, following a rapid surge in demand shortly after its market debut. Interest from off-road enthusiasts and committed Jeep buyers pushed the model to sold-out status within a matter of weeks as it made its local debut earlier this month.

Developed as a reflection of Jeep’s wartime origins, the Willys edition reconnects the brand to its earliest design. Only a small batch of 30 units was produced for India, making it a brief but impactful entry in Jeep’s local portfolio. The Wrangler Willys ‘41 Special Edition draws directly from the mechanical and visual identity of the 1941 military-spec Willys.

Coated in a purpose-developed ‘41 Military Green unique to this trim, the vehicle bears a prominent “1941” decal across the hood, paying tribute to Jeep’s battlefield origins. The features inside stands more closely with today’s Rubicon-spec Wrangler. The exclusive paint finish remains unavailable on any other variant.

Buyers seeking added utility gets an exclusive accessory bundle specifically for the Willys ‘41.

The package equips the SUV with practical additions like a roof carrier system featuring integrated side ladders along with a Sunrider soft-top roof. At a listed cost of Rs. 4.56 lakh, the setup transforms the already purpose-built Willys into a more versatile, long-distance expedition machine. Underneath, the Willys ‘41 shares a lot with the Wrangler Rubicon. The limited-run edition comes at an added cost of Rs. 1.51 lakh over the standard Rubicon variant.

Tata-Altroz-New-Facelift-Bharat-NCAP-Crash-Test-Safety.jpg

Tata is expected to release the crash test results of the Altroz facelift soon; expected to better the already top-notch scores

Tata Motors’ latest iteration of the Altroz hatchback is all set to achieve a 5-star safety rating in Bharat NCAP crash assessments. While the exact details have not been revealed, the crash test video released by Tata on its Youtube channel gives away plenty of information. It showed a frontal offset deformable barrier test conducted at a speed of 64 kmph.

The premium hatchback was seen undergoing testing from multiple camera angles: front, left hand view and right hand view. Time markers from the high speed footage noted 135 milliseconds on the left side and 187 milliseconds on the right side during impact evaluation. The test reports indicated a stable A-pillar and a robust underbody that retained structural integrity despite interaction.

The Altroz featured a Diamond Safety Shield Structure, contributing to a stable passenger compartment even during collision scenarios. Tata has engineered the new Altroz using advanced reinforcements utilising advanced high strength steel construction and precision joining technologies. These structural enhancements are designed to redirect crash energy away from the passenger cell, improving overall occupant protection during a frontal collision.

The safety equipment integrated in the vehicle included seatbelts equipped with pre-tensioners, load limiter and a crash-locking tongue. The new Altroz also provides six airbags as standard: driver and co-driver front airbags, two curtain airbags and two side airbags for lateral impact protection.

Tata’s internal engineering contributions have played a significant role in this result. The new Altroz facelift continues to build on Tata’s reputation for prioritising occupant safety. With this result, it is on course to set a new benchmark for structural integrity in the premium hatchback segment as the results are eagerly awaited.

Tata offers the updated Altroz in five variants: Smart, Pure, Creative, Accomplished S and Accomplished+ S. Pricing begins at Rs 6.89 lakh and extends up to Rs 11.29 lakh, ex-showroom. It has to be remembered that the five-seater based on the ALFA platform scored five stars in GNCAP crash tests back in 2020 and the marks are expected to further improve this time around.

2 New Kia EVs Launching In 2025-26 In India – Key Details

GaadiWaadi -

Kia EV2 Concept

After Hyundai, it is Kia’s turn to enter mass-market EV segments in India with locally manufactured, competitively priced models

After testing the waters with pricey imports like the EV6 and EV9 for more than two years, Kia is ready to go big with locally manufactured, mass-market electric cars in India. The company plans to launch two such affordable electric cars within a year.

To begin with, Kia will launch the first made-in-India electric MPV in the next two to three months – the Carens EV. Spy shots have revealed that the company plans to introduce the zero-emission derivative of its Maruti Ertiga rival directly in the facelifted avatar, with a sharper design and upgraded features.

The Kia Carens EV is likely to feature a slightly different exterior from the recently launched Kia Carens Clavis. It could have a fully covered front-end with a unique bumper and active grille shutters that open only when the power electric components need cooling, enhancing the vehicle’s aerodynamic efficiency and thus reducing energy consumption for an improved driving range. For the same reason, the wheels are also expected to be different and feature an almost covered design.

Inside, the Kia Carens EV could feature a distinctive gear selector and centre console as well as a modified Dual Panoramic Display panel integrating certain EV-specific functions, such as a charging station locator, for instance. Kia may launch the Carens EV with a 51.4 kWh NMC battery pack and a 169 hp permanent magnet synchronous motor. This combination could lead to a range of approximately 425 km.

In April next year, Kia will introduce the pure electric variant of the Syros, targeting customers who need a small SUV high on comfort, convenience, and connectivity features. The Kia Syros EV is expected to be differentiated from its donor model with revisions similar to the Kia Carens EV.

Kia is expected to offer the Syros EV with at least one LFP battery pack that is cheaper, more durable, and less prone to fire than a typical NMC battery pack. The LFP cells are likely to be locally manufactured by Exide Energy, allowing Kia to price the EV competitively. The company could be targeting a range of up to over 400 km for this model.

Tata Secures Rights To Upgrade 2.0L Fiat Multijet Diesel Engine

GaadiWaadi -

tata harrier facelift-16

An agreement signed in the final quarter of the last financial year grants Tata Motors the ability to independently upgrade the Fiat 2.0L Multijet diesel engine

Tata Motors has secured development rights for the 2.0L Multijet diesel mill that has been powering the Harrier and Safari since their launch in 2019 and 2021 respectively. Previously manufactured under license from Stellantis via Fiat India Automobile at the Ranjangaon facility in Maharashtra, the powertrain will now fall under Tata’s control for further technical evolution.

The development eliminates the need for Tata to seek external approval for making adjustments to the engine, particularly those involving electronic calibration or emission tweaks. Under the earlier model, tasks such as reprogramming the ECU required approval and could incur costs reportedly reaching 10 million euros – an expense that restricted flexibility in variant differentiation.

An agreement signed in the final quarter of the last financial year grants Tata Motors the ability to independently upgrade the FAM B diesel engine. The arrangement, formalised through a Technology License Agreement with Stellantis, authorises Tata to carry out its own engineering modifications in alignment with future emission standards or internal performance goals.

By gaining autonomy over its calibration and development roadmap, Tata is expected to pursue more efficient upgrade paths while managing cost pressures. Mahindra’s mHawk engine strategy, for example, has benefited from such in-house control, allowing the company to offer differentiated powertrains across its product range without incurring licensing penalties.

The move holds plenty of significance as the Multijet engine is known for its versatility as it has been used in multiple models such as Jeep Compass, MG Hector and Jeep Meridian and in different tunes by other brands in the past. Despite this operational independence in development, the production will continue to happen at Ranjangaon.

Stellantis retains the intellectual property for the core architecture of the engine but the improvements initiated by Tata under the new license will fall within Tata’s purview. With a new 1.5L GDI turbo unit set to arrive soon, Tata will apparently widen its powertrain options in India. It also gives Tata a big opportunity to upgrade both the ICE Harrier and Safari.

Mercedes-AMG G63 ‘India Inspired’ Limited Edition Teased, Launch Soon

GaadiWaadi -

Mercedes-AMG-G63-‘India-Inspired-Limited-Edition-2.jpg

Mercedes-AMG G63 ‘India Inspired’ edition will go on sale on June 12 and it will get cosmetic enhancements inside and out compared to the regular model

Mercedes-Benz has confirmed the debut of a limited-run AMG G63 model crafted specifically for the Indian market with its official launch scheduled for June 12, 2025. It represents the first instance of a market-specific G-Wagon developed for India, featuring bespoke design touches and unique interior treatment to distinguish it from the standard offering.

Early teasers from the German manufacturer indicate the presence of a contrast orange exterior finish although the vehicle retains its standard alloy wheels. Meanwhile, subtle visual cues are expected to set this version apart but the technical specifications remain unchanged. The production run is expected to be extremely limited.

The equipment list will more likely carry over from the regular G63 and bear in mind that the popular nameplate is already packed with high-end features. Some of the highlights encompass dual digital screens (one for infotainment and the other for instrumentation), two-tone cabin trim, automatic climate control and all-LED lighting.

Buyers will also get electronically adjustable front seats, multiple airbags, multi-functional steering wheel and advanced driver assistance and safety technology. The overall performance will remain identical as the enhancements are restricted to the cosmetic updates inside and out. It will be equipped with a familiar 4.0L twin-turbo V8 engine with mild-hybrid technology.

The powertrain is good enough to produce a maximum of 577 bhp and 850 Nm of peak torque along with the additional boost of 21 bhp from the MHEV system. Paired to a nine-speed DCT automatic gearbox with paddle shifting function, the drivetrain connects to Mercedes-Benz’s full-spec 4MATIC four-wheel drive setup.

The system integrates lockable differentials, selectable high and low-range gearing and provision for axle disengagement. The acceleration time from zero to 100 kmph stands at 4.4 seconds while the top speed is governed electronically at 220 kmph. These numbers place the G63 firmly in the high-performance SUV segment, enabling a combination of off-road capability with tarmac-focused urgency.

Upcoming Toyota Land Cruiser FJ (Affordable Fortuner) – What We Know So Far

GaadiWaadi -

Toyota IMV 0_-3

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ is expected to debut in the international markets sometime in 2026, based on the affordable IMV 0 platform

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ, once tipped for a 2025 arrival, now appears to be headed for a 2026 launch window instead. Conceived as a more accessible alternative in Toyota’s off-road portfolio, it is being built on the versatile IMV 0 architecture – the same ladder-frame platform which has also been used for the utilitarian Hilux Champ.

Expected to be positioned below the Fortuner, the Land Cruiser FJ will appeal to a wide range of consumers. Toyota’s use of the IMV 0 platform opens up possibilities for developing smaller and more affordable SUVs and the upcoming FJ could emerge from that blueprint. Based on early indications, the design direction appears to combine throwback cues such as circular headlights, squared-off lighting units, etc.

Production setbacks tied to the Land Cruiser 250 and a pause in fresh orders in global markets recently have reportedly nudged the Land Cruiser FJ’s arrival to 2026. Pricing speculation suggests that the FJ could be priced at 4-4.5 million yen in Japan (around 23-27 lakh approximately).

Estimated to stretch roughly 4,550 mm in length, span 1,830 mm across and rise to a height of about 1,860 mm, the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ appears set to occupy a footprint not far off from the Corolla Cross. The wheelbase at around 2,750 mm hints at proportions that may favour interior usability and stability over rugged terrain.

Though not confirmed, its potential to slot into Toyota’s India roadmap remains open, depending on how the platform and pricing align with market priorities. Toyota recently celebrated three lakh sales milestone with the Fortuner series in India as it has been the full-size segment leader for more than a decade and a half.

Various engines are rumoured, from a 1.5L diesel up to a 2.8L diesel, plus 2.0L and 2.7L petrol options. The 2TR 2.7L inline-four petrol, delivering 163 PS, appears the most likely choice. Toyota plans to keep full-time 4WD with a Torsen limited-slip differential and proven drive modes to ensure good off-road characteristics for the Land Cruiser FJ.

Kia Carens Clavis Price Analysis – Will It Disrupt The Segment?

GaadiWaadi -

Kia Carens Clavis4

Kia Carens Clavis is the only model in the 7-seater MPV segment below Rs 20 lakh to come with a diesel engine in India

Kia India recently announced the price of the all-new Carens Clavis MPV in the country. Being priced in a range of Rs 11.50-21.50 lakh, it is available with two petrol and one diesel engines with a choice of manual as well as automatic transmissions. Kia Carens Clavis is introduced in 6- and 7-seater configurations in the Indian market. The MPV will have a fierce face-off with the likes of Maruti Ertiga and Toyota Rumion in the domestic market. In this piece, we will conduct a detailed price analysis of Kia Carens Clavis MPV in India.

Starting with the naturally-aspirated 1.5L petrol engine, it is only available in a 7-seater layout with a 6-speed manual gearbox. It will only be offered in three entry-level variants namely HTE, HTE (O) and HTK while priced between Rs 11.50-13.50 lakh (ex-showroom). If we compare these prices with the Ertiga and Rumion, which start at Rs 8.96 lakh and Rs 10.54 lakh, respectively, Kia Carens Clavis is still the most expensive model in its segment.

Moving to the 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine, it gets three transmission options in the form of 6-speed manual, 6-speed iMT and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic units in the 7-seater configuration. While the manual variants are priced between Rs 13.40-19.40 lakh, the iMT gearbox can only be availed with HTX and HTX+ trims at Rs 18.70 lakh and 19.70 lakh, respectively.

Kia Carens Clavis1

The 7-speed DCT auto transmission is presented in three grades namely HTK+, HTK+ (O) and HTX+ at price points of Rs 16.90 lakh, Rs 17.70 lakh and Rs 21.50 lakh, respectively. Just so you know, Kia Carens Clavis HTX+ is the most expensive variant in the entire line-up.

The 1.5L turbo petrol engine is also sold in a 6-seater layout in HTX+ trim with 6-speed manual, 6-speed iMT and 7-speed DCT automatic units at Rs 19.40 lakh, Rs 19.70 lakh and Rs 21.50 lakh, respectively. It has a direct competition with Maruti Suzuki XL6 which is retailed via the NEXA premium outlets. The 6-seater MPV from Maruti is priced between Rs 11.83-14.83 lakh which is quite less than the Carens Clavis 6-seater models.

Kia-Carens-Clavis-Interior.jpg

Last but not the least, Kia Carens Clavis is also rolled out with a 1.5L diesel engine in 7-seater configuration. Only available with a 6-speed manual unit, it is priced between Rs 13.50-19.50 lakh. It has no direct or indirect rival in the Indian market as all the other MPV models such as Maruti Ertiga and Toyota Rumion are not available with a diesel engine. Even the Toyota Innova Crysta’s base diesel variant costs Rs 19.99 lakh, which is quite higher than it.

In all, Kia Carens Clavis is presented as a premium MPV model for families. The pricing is also decent, considering the fact that Kia has not entirely discontinued the existing version of the Carens MPV. The 6-seater variants are certainly priced a tad higher but the 7-seater diesel variants are likely to contribute the most to the sales of the Carens Clavis due to zero competition. All the prices mentioned in this article are ex-showroom, India.
