Mahindra & Mahindra will continue its unparalleled dominance in the SUV segment with the launch of multiple new ICE and EV models

Mahindra & Mahindra finished CY 2025 as India’s second biggest auto brand with sales of close to 6 lakh units in the Indian market. We are just into the first month of 2026 and the home-grown automaker has already launched three new models namely XUV 3XO EV, Bolero Camper & Bolero Pik-Up, and Thar Roxx Star Edition. However, it is merely the tip of the iceberg as Mahindra will introduce multiple new SUVs throughout the year. Hence, in this piece, we will talk in detail about the upcoming Mahindra SUVs in 2026-27 in India.

1. 2026 Mahindra Scorpio N Facelift

The mid-cycle facelift for the Scorpio N will debut in the coming few months in the domestic market. The facelifted version of the SUV was recently spied testing with heavy camouflage. The test unit revealed that updates will be strictly cosmetic in nature as the SUV will remain unchanged in terms of technical specs. Needless to state, the 2026 Mahindra Scorpio N facelift will be more feature-rich than the current model.

Mahindra Scorpio N Facelift (3)

The most prominent update in the 2026 Scorpio N will be the inclusion of a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system which will be borrowed from the Thar Roxx. It will replace the existing 8-inch unit. The new SUV is likely to retain the Level 2 ADAS tech, dual-zone automatic climate control and 12-speaker sound system powered by Sony. Mechanically, it will continue with the 2.0L petrol and 2.2L diesel engines.

2. Mahindra Vision S

Unveiled last year in August, Mahindra Vision S concept previews a rugged sub 4-metre SUV. Underpinned by the NU_IQ platform, it was recently spotted testing in Tamil Nadu. It will be using a monocoque architecture instead of Mahindra’s signature ladder-frame chassis. Apart from petrol and diesel versions, an all-electric version of Vision S SUV will also be launched in and around late 2026 in the country.

Retaining the boxy silhouette of the concept model, the Vision S also gets a rear spare wheel mounted at the tailgate. However, the inverted L-shaped headlamps seen on the concept have been replaced by circular units. The cabin is likely to feature a 12.3-inch dual-screen layout with latest connectivity features. The engine choices could be 1.2L turbo petrol and 1.5L turbo diesel units.

3. Mahindra Scorpio N Pickup

The Scorpio N based Pick-up concept debuted in Aug 2023 in South Africa. Since then, it has been spotted several times on the Indian roads during its test runs. The brand has stated that production-ready Scorpio N pickup will come with several premium features in the form of Level 2 ADAS, 5G connectivity, ride modes (Normal, Sand, Snow and Mud), front centre armrest, rear bench seat and semi-automatic parking ability. Under the hood, the pickup will have the Gen-2 mHawk diesel engine with 6-speed manual and automatic transmission options. It could go on sale by the end of 2026 in the country.

4. Mahindra Thar EV

Mahindra Thar.E concept was unveiled last year in the Indian market. The electric off-roader concept with 5-doors will spawn the electrified version of the Thar SUV. Some of the notable design elements in the Thar EV will include rectangular front grille, square-shaped LED headlamps, upright and boxy silhouette.

Mahindra Vision.T

The cabin is expected to be on the similar lines as the new crop of Mahindra’s born-electric SUVs. It will be based on a revised version of the INGLO platform, christened as P1. Mahindra could source the battery pack for the Thar EV from Volkswagen and it could offer a range of 500+ km on a single charge.

New Renault Duster Hybrid: All Top Features, Booking, Delivery, Specs Explained

GaadiWaadi -

2026 new renault duster

New Renault Duster uses a 1.8L GDI petrol engine working in tandem with a 1.4 kWh battery pack to form the hybrid system

Unveiled in Chennai last night, the third generation Duster is the first visible outcome of Renault’s International Game Plan 2027 for India. Over 90 per cent of the new Duster has been created specifically for Indian conditions – underpinned by the Renault Group Modular Platform. It has been tested for extreme temperatures ranging from minus 23 degrees Celsius to 55 degrees Celsius and validated at altitudes exceeding 18,000 feet.

The flexible platform which will give to a seven-seater Duster sibling next FY has also been created to meet high safety standards as well and integrates 35 safety features. Another headline grabber is that instead of leaning on a single headline engine, Renault is offering three choices. The 1.3L turbo TCe 160 petrol sits at the top with 163 PS and 280 Nm.

It is available with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed wet-clutch dual-clutch automatic. Positioned below it is the 1.0L turbo TCe 100 petrol option paired with a manual gearbox. For the first time in this segment from Renault, a Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160 joins the lineup from global portfolio combining a 1.8-litre engine with a 1.4 kWh battery to enable up to 80 per cent electric-only driving in urban conditions.

With a ground clearance of 212 mm and approach and departure angles of 26.9 degrees and 34.7 degrees respectively, the SUV retains its ability to handle rough terrain but no AWD option has been provided. Dimensions stand at 4,346 mm in length, 1,815 mm in width and a 2,657 mm wheelbase while the bootspace capacity stands at segment-best 700 litres.

Some of the highlighting visual elements include a trapezoidal grille with yellow accents, full LED lighting, a horizontal rear light bar, protective cladding and diamond-cut 18-inch alloy wheels. Renault has also introduced an exclusive Mountain Jade Green shade inspired by Himalayan landscapes coupled with a contrasting black roof.

Stepping inside, the elevated centre console integrates an electronic shifter while physical switches remain for frequently used functions. Seats feature sculpted cushioning with yellow stitching and the cabin is finished with Mountain Jade leatherette, carbon-textured surfaces and metallic highlights. Practical comfort additions include ventilated and electrically adjustable front seats, dual-zone climate control with PM2.5 filtration, an electric panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate and ample interior storage totalling 32.6 litres.

Technology is where the new Duster breaks furthest from its predecessor. At the centre is the 10.1-inch OpenR Link touchscreen with Google built-in – making this the first mass-market car in India to offer native Google Maps, Assistant and Play Store access without smartphone mirroring. A 10.25-inch digital driver display mirrors navigation and vehicle data while over 60 connected features are accessible via Renault’s app ecosystem.

Seventeen ADAS functions, hill descent control and multi-sense drive modes allow drivers to tailor assistance systems and driving behaviour with preferences stored and recalled through individual Google profiles. The Duster will be offered with a warranty of up to seven years or 1,50,000 km under the Renault Forever programme as well.

Pre-bookings have opened via an R Pass priced at Rs. 21,000 offering priority delivery and introductory benefits. Prices will be announced in mid-March 2026, customer deliveries will begin in April and the Strong Hybrid E-Tech variant will follow later this year.

Luxury Cars In India May Get Cheaper By Over Rs. 25 Lakh Soon – Here’s Why

GaadiWaadi -

2025-Audi-Q8-Facelift-Performance.jpg

ICE vehicles imported from Europe priced above 15,000 euros will see duties reduced to 40 per cent from as high as 110 per cent in the first phase

The auto market is preparing for a decisive change in how it treats imported passenger vehicles with the proposed India–European Union free trade agreement set to redraw long standing boundaries. Expected to be formally announced tomorrow, the deal introduces sweeping changes to import duties that have historically kept European cars priced firmly out of reach for most buyers.

For decades, fully built European cars entering India have faced customs duties that could stretch as high as 110 per cent. Under the new framework, those levies are set to drop significantly. Internal combustion engine vehicles priced above 15,000 euros will see duties reduced to 40 per cent in the first phase – subject to an annual import ceiling of roughly two lakh units. Over time, tariffs are expected to fall further – eventually approaching 10 per cent.

Battery electric vehicles from the EU will not benefit immediately from the tariff cuts. Instead, they will remain excluded for about five years, a buffer to probably protect domestic EV programmes led by Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra. Once that window closes, electric imports are expected to follow the same phased reduction route.

Price impact is where the effects will be most visible. At present, a European car costing 45,000 euros to 50,000 euros can attract taxes that rival or exceed the vehicle’s base price by the time it reaches Indian showrooms. With duties capped at 40 per cent, the tax load falls dramatically. Even after accounting for GST and dealer margins, ex-showroom prices could drop by as much as 30 to 50 per cent.

Models from BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkswagen and Porsche stand to benefit the most which could effectively reshape the premium and luxury segments. Despite India’s passenger vehicle market crossing 4.4 million units annually, EU brands currently occupy a marginal share. High import barriers have limited risk-taking and slowed expansion.

New-Gen Porsche Panamera GTS

The new tariff structure offers a controlled entry point allowing companies to gauge demand through capped imports before committing to deeper localisation or new factories. Negotiations between India and the EU have stretched over several years – repeatedly stalled by disagreements across sectors. The new deal comes amid global trade realignments and rising protectionism elsewhere.

Lower duties for imported vehicles do not erase the advantages of local assembly which continues to enjoy preferential tax treatment. The demand for premium cars will respond first while volume segments remain largely unaffected. If implemented as outlined, it could permanently alter how global brands approach one of the world’s fastest growing car markets.

Skoda Kylaq CNG Launch Under Consideration

Skoda Kylaq Classic

Skoda is evaluating a CNG Kylaq likely as a dealer-level retrofit

Skoda is evaluating the possibility of introducing a CNG-powered Kylaq in the future, as the compact SUV continues to be one of the brand’s stronger performers in terms of sales. The move would allow Skoda to target buyers seeking lower running costs, expanding the powertrain options beyond the current petrol-only lineup.

At present, the Kylaq is offered exclusively with a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. According to information from people familiar with the matter, Skoda has been testing the same TSI motor with a CNG configuration. Instead of a factory-fitted layout, the brand is expected to follow the dealer-level retrofit route seen with other manufacturers, where the CNG kit is company-approved and covered under warranty.

If introduced, the Kylaq CNG would likely be paired only with a manual gearbox to keep pricing and system complexity in check. As with most CNG conversions, a reduction in power output compared to the current 114 BHP petrol figure is expected.

The Kylaq lineup has been expanding steadily over recent months. Skoda recently added Classic+ and Prestige+ variants, both available with manual and automatic transmissions. A new Sportline variant is also under development and is expected to reach showrooms around the third quarter of calendar year 2026.

Skoda also revised Kylaq pricing earlier this month, with increases of up to Rs. 15,000 depending on the variant, effective January 2026.

Avinya Set To Lead Tata Motors’ Next-Gen Electric Line-Up

GaadiWaadi -

Tata-Avinya-X-2.jpg

Avinya EVs to feature global level of design and engineering finesse and could pave way for the brand’s entry into key global EV markets

It has been eight years since Tata Motors entered India’s electric car market, and over this period, the company has firmly established itself as the segment’s leading player. As it looks for the next phase of growth, Tata Motors will not only expand its existing EV portfolio but also move into a higher-end segment with a new electric sub-brand called Avinya.

The current crop of EVs, marketed under Tata Passenger Electric Mobility (TPEM)’s Tata.ev brand, are all models derived from ICE vehicles. That will continue being the strategy for this portfolio moving forward.

In a higher segment, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV) will introduce a new generation of electric cars designed from the ground up and developed on an EV-only platform. Save for some potential hints in the design, such as the shape of the DRLs forming a “T,” these EVs will have no references to the Tata brand and carry an identity of their own – Avinya.

tata avinya electric concept-2

Originally, Tata Motors planned to develop the Avinya EVs on Land Rover’s upcoming EMA platform and had an agreement with JLR to manufacture Land Rover EVs based on the same platform alongside them in India. JLR later backed out of that deal, and without those additional volumes, building Avinya EVs on the EMA platform no longer seems to be feasible, which is why Tata Motors had to postpone the roll out of the upcoming brand’s first model.

Tata Motors has not revealed whether it is still sticking to EMA or will develop a new platform, but it is certain that the platform will have a skateboard design. Even if it sticks to EMA, it won’t be leveraging the platform to its full extent. Land Rover is planning an 800-volt electric architecture for EMA platform-based EVs, while Tata Motors had said in 2022 that it was looking at 300 to 400 volts for Avinya EVs.

Tata-Avinya-X-1.jpg

The first Avinya EV will be the production version of the Avinya concept showcased in 2022. Reports suggest it will feature a sporty hatchback body with a low and wide stance and may incorporate some attributes of an SUV and an MPV. Tata Motors plans to make the first Avinya electric car at its Sanand plant and could price it well over 30 lakh rupees (ex-showroom) when it launches it at the end this year.

The second Avinya electric car will be the production version of the Avinya X concept, an SUV-coupe showcased at Auto Expo 2025. No details about this model are available at this point, but there’s no doubt that the Avinya X concept was far closer to production than the Avinya concept. Tata Motors may launch it a year after the first Avinya EV.

Maruti Suzuki To Upgrade Brezza CNG With An Underbody CNG Tank

GaadiWaadi -

New Maruti Brezza

Maruti Brezza CNG set to become more practical in intercity trips, offering a significantly higher boot space than the current model

Maruti Suzuki has started testing the Brezza with an underbody CNG tank. The company is developing a facelifted version of the Brezza and could roll out this update as part of that refresh. One of the biggest compromises in CNG cars is the large gas tank, which occupies a significant portion of the boot space, limiting their usability on long journeys. Tata Motors and Hyundai are attempting to overcome this limitation with a twin-cylinder layout, while Maruti Suzuki is opting for an underbody design.

Maruti Suzuki launched the Victoris with an underbody CNG tank in September last year, and now, it appears to be planning the same for the Brezza. The Brezza petrol offers 328 litres of boot space, and while Maruti Suzuki does not state the figure for the Brezza CNG, it’s certainly a significantly lower number.

The new underbody tank design should bring a major improvement in the boot space. The fuel capacity, efficiency, and range may also change. The current Brezza CNG features 55 litres of water-equivalent space in the tank and delivers a fuel economy of 25.51 km/kg. Under the hood, it has the K15C 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine, married to a 5-speed manual transmission.

The engine produces 74 kW (99 hp) and 137.1 Nm of torque running on petrol and 64.6 kW (87 hp) and 121.5 Nm of torque in CNG mode. It is likely to be carried over without any changes with the facelift. The facelifted Brezza may also come with new features like ventilated seats, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems.

The Maruti Brezza is one of the most popular CNG cars in India, and last year, it ranked fourth on the CNG car sales chart, with 70,928 units sold. The introduction of an underbody tank should make it even more popular and further solidify its position as the top pick in the compact CNG SUV segment.
