Over the next twelve to eighteen months, India’s SUV scene is set to see a host of new launches as brands like Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra, Toyota, Nissan and Renault ready their new range of products. Some will be updated versions of existing models while others will carry badges never seen before but all of them are gunning for attention in a market hungry for more ground clearance and road presence. From compact crossovers to three-row contenders, the upcoming SUVs are shaping up to stir multiple segments at once:
1. Nissan Midsize SUV:
Nissan unveiled its India roadmap for future products a while ago as four all-new models are waiting in the pipeline. Leading the charge is a compact MPV built on the same platform as the Renault Triber. However, all the anticipation lies on the new midsize SUV which is expected to arrive before the current financial year ends.
2. Next Gen Renault Duster:
Renault is set to bring back the Duster nameplate in India within the next year, developed on the locally adapted CMF-B+ modular platform. The upcoming Duster, along with its Nissan counterpart, is expected to feature a hybrid powertrain. Compared to the previous generation, the new model will receive an assortment of updates inside and out.

3. Mahindra XUV700 Facelift:
Mahindra plans to launch an updated ICE XUV700 in 2026, featuring subtle revisions to both its exterior and interior design. The refresh is expected to bring a few new features to maintain its edge in the segment while retaining the current 2.2-litre diesel and 2.0-litre petrol powertrains. The XUV700 and XUV.e8 concept based electric three-row SUV is also under development.
4. Maruti Suzuki e Vitara:
Launching around September or October 2025, Maruti Suzuki’s first fully electric model, the e Vitara, promises over 500 km of range on a single charge. It will arrive at Nexa showrooms with two battery choices and rides on the purpose-built Heartect e skateboard platform. Toyota will also introduce a version based on the same underpinnings before the end of this year.

5. Toyota Fortuner MHEV:
Toyota is preparing to introduce a 48V mild-hybrid variant of the Fortuner in India shortly. By pairing the familiar 2.8-litre GD diesel engine with a mild-hybrid system, it will deliver improved torque, better fuel efficiency and reduced emissions. The MHEV-spec Fortuner is already on sale in several international markets along with the mild-hybrid Hilux.
