TVS Motor Company has some really big plans for this year, including the India debut of the Norton brand. Another exciting update is for EV buyers and enthusiasts – the home-grown two-wheeler is set to launch a new entry-level electric scooter before this year’s Diwali season. In the company’s EV product lineup, the new TVS electric scooter will sit below the TVS iQube, which is currently available in the price range of Rs 94,434 – Rs 1.86 lakh (ex-showroom).
New TVS Electric Scooter – What to Expect?
Battery, Range:
The new entry-level e-scooter from TVS is likely to feature a smaller battery pack – possibly a 2.2kWh or a completely new one. The battery will be paired with a hub-mounted electric motor, borrowed from the Bosch. Just so you know, the TVS iQube is currently available with three battery pack options – a 2.2kW, a 3.4kW and a 5.1kWh – delivering a claimed range of 75km, 100km and 150km, respectively.
Features:
The new TVS electric scooter is expected to offer fewer features than the iQube along with the simpler parts and components. The TVS iQube comes with a TFT display (5-inch for the 3.4kWh variants and 7-inch touchscreen for the top-end S and ST variants), OTA updates, GSM connectivity, Bluetooth via mobile app, turn-by-turn navigation, side stand indication, incoming call alerts, music control, battery level indicator, park assist, incognito mode and tyre pressure monitoring system (as an accessory in ST variants).
Expected Price & Name:
In terms of pricing, the new TVS electric scooter will target budget-conscious buyers, with an expected price range of Rs 90,000 – Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom). Media reports suggest that TVS might use the popular Jupiter brand name for this upcoming e-scooter. The company recently filed patents for the XL, EV, and E-XL names, which are likely to be used for the electric TVS moped. This new entry-level EV could a variant of the electric moped with the XL suffix.
