Hyundai’s highly localised SUVs, namely the Creta, Venue, and Exter, are key to its Indian operations. Last month, these models collectively contributed nearly two-thirds of the company’s sales
June 2025 was a slow month for the Indian auto industry, with many automakers posting sales in the red. Hyundai was no exception, registering a 12% year-over-year decline. The company delivered 44,024 cars last month, as compared to 50,103 units in June 2024.
As usual, the Creta was Hyundai’s most popular model in India last month, with 15,786 units sold. The VW Taigun rival outsold all other Hyundais by more than two times. Compared to June 2024 (16,293 units), it saw only a marginal decline of 3%.
The Venue was the second-highest selling Hyundai model in India in June 2025, registering 6,858 units. Compared to June 2024 (9,890 units), the sub-4 metre SUV saw a significant dip of 31% in sales. The Exter, positioned further lower in the line-up, saw sales of 5,873 units in June 2025, 15% lower than June 2024 (6,908 units).

The Creta, Venue, and Exter together contributed 28,517 units or 65% to Hyundai’s sales last month. This just goes on to show how crucial the success of these three models is among the brand’s extensive line-up of ten models at the moment. As for the Aura, the company shipped 5,413 units of the sub-4 metre sedan last month, 26% more than in June 2024 (4,299 units).
The Grand i10 and i20, Hyundai’s only two hatchbacks available in Indian showrooms, contributed 4,237 and 3,785 units to its June 2025 sales, respectively. The Grand i10 saw a year-over-year decline of 14% and the i20 saw a year-over-year decline of 29%. Next in line was the Alcazar, with 1,174 units delivered, 33% more than in June 2024 (882 units).

Hyundai’s worst-performing locally manufactured car in June 2025 was the Verna. The company delivered just 813 units of the premium sedan last month, 43% lower than in the same month last year (1,424 units). The Tucson and Ioniq 5, assembled locally from imported CKD kits, didn’t perform well either. The Tucson’s sales reduced by 36% from 114 units in June last year to 73 units last month. The Ioniq 5 similarly saw its sales decline by 60% from 30 units to just 12 units. Facelifted versions of both these imports are expected to be launched later this year.
